Carolyn Elizabeth Woodward (Carls)
A funeral service for Carolyn Elizabeth Woodward will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, November 6, 2004, at St. John Lutheran Church, Eagle Point. Pastors Gary Clark and Dave Campbell will officiate.
Mrs. Woodward, 89, of Eagle Point, OR died Wednesday, November 3, 2004, at K.C.'s Adult Foster Home in Medford.
She was born on August 15, 1915 in Ignatio, CO. She married
Max Woodward on October 10, 1934 in San Bernardino, CA. The couple settled in the Rogue Valley in 1953.
Carolyn was a Rancher's wife, who partnered with her husband all her adult life. The couple operated various Dairy Farms in their early years and later enjoyed raising Beef Cattle and Quarterhorses. When she wasn't spending time with her family, she enjoyed traveling with her friends.
She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran in Eagle Point.
Survivors include daughters Marcia Boren of Eagle Point, OR and Maxine Lundgren of Eagle Point, OR; 3 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1984.

Dorothy Ida Forrest
A memorial service for Dorothy Ida Forrest will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004 at Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary, in the chapel. Chaplain John Brawn of Rogue Valley Medical Center will officiate.
Mrs. Forrest, 91, of Talent, died Wednesday (Nov. 3, 2004) in Talent.
She was born on March 3, 1913 in Great Falls, MT to William and Evalene Havdee Dorn. She was raised in Montana and moved to Oregon in 1936. She was a long time resident of the Rogue Valley. In 1935 She married
Robert L. Forrest who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Forrest was a homemaker.
She was a loving mother, wife, and a friend to everyone she knew.
Survivors include; daughters, Barbara Rock of Brookings, Donna Fogel of Talent, and Francy Heim of Medford; a sister Bernice Cross Payett of Idaho; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Eileen W. Haines
Eileen W. Haines, 80, died Thursday (Nov. 4, 2004) in Medford.
She was born on Dec. 6, 1923 in Auckland, New Zealand.
Eileen will be laid to rest with her husband Roy at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Long Beach, CA.
She enjoyed her church, her friends and her family.
Survivors include; a son, Curt Haines; daughter, Debbie Haines; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Justin Michael Granger
Sept. 23, 1985 - Nov. 2, 2004
A memorial service for Justin Michael Granger will be at 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8, 2004 at, The River First Baptist Church, 649 Crater Lake Ave., Medford.
Justin died suddenly on Tuesday night, Nov. 2, 2004.
He was such a delightful, beautiful boy with only the purest heart.
Justin attended Griffin Creek and Jefferson Elementary School, McLoughlin Middle School and attended South Medford High and graduated in 2004.
He touched so many lives during his short life with us. To know him was to love him. He will be truly missed.
He was an avid soccer player. He loved golfing, hunting, and fishing.
Survivors include his mother, Michelle Williams; father, Randy; step-mom, Rhonda Granger of Medford; brothers, Tyler and Jacob Granger of Medford, and Brandyn Hicks; his sister, Deserae Granger; step-brother Jonathan Puryean of Phoenix; his grandparents, Calvin and Lorraine Granger of Medford, Michael and Janet Williams of Rogue River; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and second cousins.

Lillian 'Polly' Tomlinson
Lillian Elizabeth "Polly" Tomlinson, 87, died Nov. 1, 2004 at St. Maries, Idaho.
She was born Oct. 28, 1917 to William and Minnie (Pence) Curry at Troy, Kansas. She grew up in Kansas and Arkansas.
Mrs. Tomlinson graduated from High school in Gravette, Arkansas in 1936. She married
Orville Williams in 1936 in Arkansas. They moved to a logging camp near Sisters, Oregon in 1939. The next several years, they lived in various logging communities in Oregon and Northern Calif., finally Settling in Medford, Oregon where she worked for J. C. Penny's and Dr. Byers. Her husband died 1969. In 1971, she married
Vernon Tomlinson at Medford, OR. He died in 1994. She moved to Valley Vista Care Center in St. Maries in October of 1998 to be closer to her sons.
She was a member off the Rogue Valley Christian Church in Medford, The Order of Eastern Star and the Jacksonville Quilters.
Mrs. Tomlinson enjoyed her church activities, family and friends. Her passion was quilting and she was the author of her own quilt book, "Polly Put the Kettle On" published in 1988. She was cousin to John Stewart Curry, a noted artist, whose paintings are on display in Washington D.C. as well as cousin to David Foster Curry who started Yosemite Park and Curry Co. (Camp Curry and Fire Fall).
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Norene Williams of St Maries, Idaho, and Charles and Mary Jo Williams of Noxon, Montana; her step-son George Williams of Winchester, OR; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Lorene Ditmore.
Viewing will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, at Hillcrest Mortuary. Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8, 2004 at Rogue Valley Christian Church 1440 S. Oakdale, Medford. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford.

Dorothy Doree Courier, 71, of Central Point, died Tuesday (Nov. 2, 2004) at Providence Medford Medical Center. Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Central Point Chapel.
Arleigh Rolland Sewell
A service to celebrate the life of Arleigh Rolland Sewell will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, at the Eagle Point National cemetery. A military graveside service will follow.
Mr. Sewell, 82, of Central Point, died Saturday (Oct. 16, 2004) at home with his loving wife by his side.
He was born on Feb. 24, 1922 in Crosby, MN to Irving and Myrtle Sewell. He married
Marcene Sewell in Reno, NV., who survives.
Mr. Sewell is a graduate of the University of MN.
He served in the Army Air Corps during WW II from 1942 to 1949.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Medford.
Mr. Sewell enjoyed computers, walking, cooking, he especially loved his cats and spending time with his wife and family.
In addition to his wife, Marcene, survivors include: a daughter, Edie Eccles and her husband Dan; a brother, Irving Sewell of Molalla, OR; his grandchildren which were his pride and joys Brian, Jeremy and Sarah. He was preceded in death by his first wife Hilde Sewell, and a son Ralph Sewell, a brother, Bud Sewell, and sister, Irveline Schubert.
Dorothy G. Capsey
A memorial service for Dorothy G. Capsey will be at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at the Medford Moose Lodge, Medford.
Mrs. Capsey, 61, of Medford, died Sunday (Oct. 17, 2004) at Providence Medical Center after a long battle with cancer.
She was born Dorothy G. Anderson on Nov. 10, 1942 in Weehawken, NJ. On July 31, 1999 she married
Dr. Norman T. Capsey who survives.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles, her family and friends. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and a dear friend to many.
She will be greatly missed! In addition to her husband, Norman, survivors include; her three sons, Chris of Central Point, Randy of Medford, and Ed of Happy Camp, CA; a daughter Dawn of Medford; her sister, Joyce of NJ; and 15 grandchildren.
Henry Ferrell Squyres
The service for Henry Squyres was held last Saturday, October 16, 2004. Arrangments were handled by Memory Gardens Mortuary.
Mr. Squyres, 90, of Medford, died Wednesday (Oct. 13, 2004).
Hugh William Donovan
Hugh William Donovan died September 19th, 2004. A memorial service will be held for Mr. Donovan at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 23, at Fountain Plaza, Medford, Pastor Perry Atkinson will officiate.
Hugh was born May 20, 1924 in Reno, Nevada. He moved to and grew up in Santa Clara, California where he graduated from Santa Clara University cum laude in 1949 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He served in the army during WW II and retired as Lt. Col. Following his retirement from active military duty, he was employed for 28 years by G.E. in San Jose in the Atomic Power Equipment Department. In 1963 he was selected national chairman of the Nuclear Material Management where he was the top executive officer responsible for control of all nuclear materials across the U.S. In 1994 Hugh moved to Medford. He was a true gentleman who extremely proud of his military service and years of employment with G.E. He contributed to many non-profit organizations that he felt worthy.
He was an accomplished musician, and in his youth played in many bands, playing both the saxophone and piano.
Survivors include; his sister, Sister Leonard Donovan of San Jose, CA; his three daughters, Blanca Hall-Pinner of Danville, CA. Rita Donovan-Roth of Ashland, and Teena Estafani of San Jose; five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions can be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America or the Sisters of the Holy Family, Fremont CA.
Jack Ronald Gunter
Jack Ronald Gunter passed away on September 23, 2004 in Ashland, Oregon at the age of 78. A celebration of life will take place at 1 p.m. at the Bellview Grange in Ashland on Monday, October 25, 2004.
He was born to Gerald Gunter and Hazel Gunter (Powell) on October 25, 1925 in Ashland, Oregon. He married
Jean Pander in 1945 who preceded him in death in 1956. He married
Betty Bushnell on November 11, 1957 who survives.
Mr. Gunter was born and raised in Ashland. He served in the Navy in WWII. He worked in the timber industries in his younger years, as well as commercial fishing. He was a firefighter for Jackson County Fire District #5 for 19 years, retiring in 1989.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and working on cars.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; One daughter Marietta Bianchi who lives in Sholow AZ; three sons, Gerald "Butch" Gunter, Steven Gunter, and Dan Gunter, all of Ashland. Six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, James Gunter.

Kurt Hartmann
A private family service will be held for Kurt Hartmann, 78, of Ashland who died Friday, October 15, 2004 at his home following a brief illness.
Born in 1926 in Passau, Germany, Kurt Hartmann came to the United States in 1938, when his family fled the Hitler regime. He lived in Albany, New York until 1944 when he enlisted in the United States Navy. He served in the Philippines until 1946.
Mr. Hartman attended Antioch College in Yellowsprings, Ohio and graduated from that institution with a degree in political science.
In his younger years he worked for the National Labor Relations Board in North Carolina and Philadelphia. Subsequently, he became a journalist in West Virginia and Washington D.C. In 1955 he assumed ownership of the weekly newspaper in Seaside, CA, the News-Sentinel, and several years later founded a printing business, Printing Inc. In 1978, together with his wife, Kurt established a bookstore in Salinas, Books & Books.
Since his retirement in 1989 he had returned to journalism, writing, among other publications, for the Monterey Herald's Alta Vista magazine, the Ashland Daily Tidings, and the Medford Mail Tribune.
Kurt and Lou moved from the Monterey Peninsula to Ashland, Oregon in 2000 after each had lived in California for over 40 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise, and two children by a prior marriage, Susan Gernaey of Rossmoor, CA, Thomas Mark Hartmann of Los Angeles, CA, and four grandchildren.

Lester T. Bradley
A time of remembrance of Lester T. Bradley will be at 4 p.m. today (Oct. 20, 2004) at Funeral Alternaatives, 550 Business Park Dr., Medford.
Mr. Bradley, 88, of Medford, died Sunday (Oct. 17, 2004) at his home.
On. Sept. 20, 1939 he married
Mildred E. Janz who survives. They lived in the Rogue Valley since 1981.
He was a member of the Talent Planning Commission form 1983 to 1991 and a longtime member of the Phoenix Grange.
In addition to his wife, Mildred, survivors include: a son Gerald of Albuquerque, NM; his daughter-in-law, Kay Bradley of Redding CA; his granddaughters, Amy and Erin Bradley of Tucson, AZ, and Cindy Morrow of Redding, CA; his grandsons, Jeff and Ford Allison of Coos Bay, OR. He was preceded in death by his son, Brad, and his sister Esther Hosking.
(Lois) Jeanne Owen
Jeanne Owen died October 16, 2004, after an eight-year battle with cancer. She was 60 years old.
Jeanne was born November 14, 1943 in Medford, Oregon. Her parents, Ella & John Gemaehlich, preceeded her in death.
Jeanne attended Medford Senior High School, graduating in 1962. She earned her cosmetology license and began a four-decade career as a hair stylist.
She married
Eldon Owen on August 18, 1973. They lived in Medford, Oregon until 1986 when they moved to Eugene, Oregon.
Jeanne was an avid golfer and also enjoyed baking, gardening and decorating.
Survivors include her devoted husband; three sisters, Robby Miller of Talent, OR., Marti Benjamin of Reno NV, and Pat Bennett of Scottsdale, AZ; two brother-in-laws, Dennis Owens of Portland, and Darrell Owen of Bend, OR; one sister-in-law, Claudia Hanson of Vancouver, WA; mother-in-law Myrna Fischer, Portland. She is also survived by six nieces and three nephews, six great-nieces and four great-nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Siskiyou Memorial Park in Medford at 3 p.m. on Friday, October 22 for family and friends.
