MILDRED LUCILLE DAVIS
COMMERCE, Okla. - Mildred Lucille Davis, 79, of Commerce, Okla. died Tuesday, June 3, 2003 at a local nursing home after an illness.
Mrs. Davis was born Feb. 18, 1924, in Miami, Okla. to Ralph Addison and Ona Pearl (Hollis) Mercer. She has lived in Commerce all her life.
Mrs. Davis was a seamstress for the Glenn Berry garment factory for 20 years. She attended the Faith Tabernacle in Commerce. She married Ralph Franklin Davis. He preceded her in death in February of 1972.
One son, Ralph Davis, a brother, Delbert Mercer and a granddaughter, Cassie Sears also preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Sherry Davis and Ruth Sears, both of Commerce; two brothers, Otis Mercer of Richmond, Calif. and Kenneth Mercer of N. Miami, Okla.; two sisters, Joyce Turner of Commerce and Louise Newman of Parsons, Kan.
Five grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 5, in the G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami, Okla. Pastor Kay Snowden will officiate. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home, Commerce.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 4, at the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home in Commerce.
Mrs. Davis' family will be at the home of Tom Chesnutt in Commerce.
ELDA DAY
PICKETT, Okla. - Elda Day, 85, of Pickett died on Friday, October 10, 2003 at her home.
She was born on September 13, 1918, in Eucha, Okla., to Harvey Wilson and Ollie Tanner Wilson. Mrs. Day attended grade school at the Seneca and Haskell Indian Schools. She married Glen Vernon Day in 1940 in Jay, Okla. She lived in the Jay area with her family until moving to California in 1957. She was a homemaker, and cooked for many years for Casa Bonita Retirement Center in Hemit, Calif., before moving to Pickett, in 1982.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
She was preceded in death by her husband on October 26, 1981.
She is survived by three children Sarah "Trudy" Veasey of Pickett, LaVerne McGuire and her husband Mike of Ada, Okla., William "Bill" Day of Summerville, Ga.; five grandchildren Kathy Baker of Pickett, Linda Linkugel and husband Butch of Pickett, Kristy McGuire of Pickett, Michael McGuire of Ada, Becky Wheller and husband Greg of Summmerville; eight grandchildren Cherry and Josh Gregory of Pickett, Dylan McGuire of Pickett, Amber, Sara and Ashley Linkugel of Pickett, Ronnie Rueth and Rohnnee Baker; two brothers William Wilson and Bobbie Wilson, both of Jay; one sister Bert Moore of Jay; and many other family and friends.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 17, at the Indian Cemetery in Eucha.
Arrangements are under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home, Ada.
ERNEST C. DEACON
GROVE - Ernest C. Deacon, 89, died Thurs., Jan. 30, 2003 at Betty Ann Nursing Center.
Ernest Clifford Deacon was born on June 10, 1913 in Hollow, Okla. to Robin and Cora (Riley) Deacon. He was a retired mechanic. He lived all his life in the Grand Lake area.
Survivors include: his wife, Christine, Grove; four sons, Charles Deacon, Augusta, Kan., Robert Deacon, Vinita, Eldon Deacon, Dayton, Tex., Walter Deacon, Bernice; one daughter, Linda Heavner, Cassville, Mo.; one brother, LeRoy Deacon; two sisters, Marie Carson and Thelma Hill. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Ray Deacon.
Visitations will be held from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 2, at Luginbuel Funeral Home, Vinita.
Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove.
JULIAN EARL DEGRUSON
GROVE - Julian Earl DeGruson, 53, of Grove, Okla., formerly of Pittsburg, Kan., died at 10:15 a.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2003 at his home in Grove. He had been in failing health the past few years.
He was born February 16, 1950 in Girard, Kan., the son of Julian and Ellen Wilson DeGruson. He attended schools in Frontenac, Kan. and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1969. He moved to Grove from Pittsburg in 1998.
Mr. DeGruson was employed with Dickey Clay, Hull and Dillon, and worked for FMI in Girard, for 23 years.
Survivors include: his companion, Fileda Cole of the home in Grove; a son, Derrick E. DeGruson of Pittsburg; a daughter, Angela Lynn DeGruson of Pittsburg; a brother, Jerry DeGruson of Pittsburg; and two sisters, Darlene Karleskint of Helper, Kan. and Judy Wood of Pittsburg.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, in the Brenner Mortuary Chapel with James DeGruson officiating. The family will receive friends following the services. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Friday. Mr. DeGruson will be cremated following the services.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th Street.
ERNEST DEPRIEST
GROVE - Ernest DePriest, 73, died Monday , January 13, 2003 at Grove Nursing Center.
Ernest DePriest was born on August 5, 1929 in Madison Ill. to Elmer Lee and Bertha Mae (Brawley) DePriest. He married Grace Anna McGinnis in 1954. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, retiring in 1968. He then worked as a machinist building shipping containers for the airlines in Claremore, Okla. Mr. DePriest moved to Grove in 1991 following his retirement. He was a member of Cayuga Mission Church, the Masonic Lodge and VFW. Survivors include his wife, Gracie DePriest, Grove and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 15, at Worley-Luginbuel Chapel with Rev. Sam Carper and Lloyd Hurt officiating. Burial will follow at Buzzard Cemetery with military rites by the Grove Veterans Ritual Team.
Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove.
LORRAINE DICKINSON
GROVE - Lorraine Dickinson, age 78, died Tuesday, February 25, 2003 in the Grove Nursing Center in Grove, Okla. The daughter of Alex and Emma (Barto) Netalini, she was born on July 5, 1924 in Frontenac, Kan. She married Harvey Dickinson in Pittsburg, Kan. on May 3, 1974. They moved to Grove in 1974. She attended the First Christian Church.
Surviving are her husband, Harvey Dickinson, Grove; two sons, Steve Herwig, Overland Park, Kan. and Mike Herwig, Salina, Kan.; two stepchildren, Cindy Frasier, Joplin, Mo. and Randal Dickinson, Pittsburg; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 28, in the Worley-Luginbuel Chapel with Wayne Shaw officiating. The interment is in the Buzzard Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove.
MARILYN DODSON
GROVE - Marilyn Eloise Dodson of Grove went to be with Lord Sunday, January 26, 2003. She was 70. Mrs. Dodson was born May 24, 1932 to Henry and Alfa (Johnson) Gilthvedt at Grygla, Minn. She was a homemaker and a member of The Grove Christian Center Church for 22 years. She received her education as an L.P.N. and served many years as an active Mid-Wife. She married Edwin Colmer Erickson. He preceded her in death on April, 30, 1977. She later married Carl Dodson in 1991.
She is survived by: her husband, Carl Dodson of Seneca, Mo.; three children, Reginale John Erickson, Paul Erickson, both of Grove, and Becca Lynn Chambers of Texas; four foster children, Kathy McCregor, Windy Peterson, Todd Gjerdi, and Torie Gjerdi, all of Minn.; 14 grandchildren, R.C. Erickson, Shelly Erickson, Edwin Erickson, Andy Erickson, Kyle Erickson, Cody Erickson, Nick Erickson, Adam Erickson and Molly Erickson, Drew Erickson, John Chambers, Justin Chambers, Cheri Hanes and Suzy Lasoya; and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are: eight sisters, Vickie Schaefbaubr, Allayne Golver, Herdi Limberg, Joy Perkins, Marley Schultz, Judy Slen, Caryl Nisley, Bonnae Mastrianni; and one brother, Harley Gilthvedt.
Services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 30, at the Grove Christian Center. Rev. Leon Vernon to officiate, with Leland Mooney assisting. Burial will be at 10 a.m. at the Greenwood Cemetery in Strath Cona, Minn. Memorial contributions may be made to missions work at Grove Christian Center. Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove.
CYNTHIA M. DOWNING
Jay, Okla. - Cynthia M. Downing, 64, died Thursday, October 9, 2003 at Hillcrest Specialty Hospital in Tulsa.
Cynthia Downing was born on march 9, 1939 in Delaware County, Okla.. to William and Celia (Wiley) Downing. She worked as a nurse for thirty years. For fifteen years she worked in the Cherokee Clinic.
Survivors include three children, Carolyn Moore, Jimmy Teehee, Judy Harrison; a half sister, Anna Belle Fallingpot; her special friend, Robert Payne; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two children, Lucinda Kisor and Rachel Snell.
Services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 13, 2003 at Sycamore Springs Baptist Church with Jim York officiating. Burial will follow at Jumper Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home of Jay.

LOUEDNA 'JOY' DUDDING
YORK, PA. - LouEdna 'Joy' Dudding, 61, of York, Pa., died Saturday, April 5, 2003. She was the wife of Donald E. Dudding, with whom she celebrated 44 years of marriage. She was born September 18, 1941 in Oklahoma City, Okla. She was the daughter of the late James and Wilma Ballou.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Donald J. Dudding of San Antonio, Texas and Michael A. Dudding of New Jersey; a daughter, Sabra Dudding of York; three grandchildren, Cinda, Patricia Joy, and Justin Dudding; two sisters, Judith and Glanda Plotner, and a brother, Albert J. Ballou, all of Southern Calif. Services were held on Monday, April 14 at Green Acres Memorial Park and Mortuary, 11715 Cedar Ave, Bloomington, Calif.
JOYCE ANN ( COLE) DUDLEY
TULSA, Okla. - Joyce Ann (Cole) Dudley, 40-year-old Big Cabin, Okla. resident, passed away Monday, January 6, 2003, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa.
Joyce was born August 3, 1962 in Vinita, Okla. to E. Maynard and Hazel (Kirby) Cole. She was an engineering assistant. Joyce was a member of United Community Baptist Church in Pensacola, Okla. She was also a member of Oklahoma Donor Coalition, Organ Sharing Network, New Heart and Lungs at Baylor, Phi Theta Kappa, Alpha Chi, Collegiate Writers Association, Journalist Association, Collegiate Broadcasting, and National Kidney Foundation. Joyce loved to draw, sing, read, cook, write, take photos, and spend time with her children and family.
Survivors include: her husband, Michael Dudley; sons, Cole James Chaney and Cale Lee Chaney; stepson, Larry Don Dudley; mother, Hazel Conard of Grove, Okla.; father, E. Maynard Cole and wife, Kay, of Jenks, Okla.; brother, Joey, of Pensacola; stepsisters, Cari Brashaw, Lisa Conard, and Carol Conard; stepbrother, Brian Conard; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Joyce was preceded in death by grandparents, Thomas and Ada Kirby, Ernest and Beatrice Cole, and the grandmother of her children, Eleanor Chaney; and stepfather David Conard.
The family will be making donations in memory of Joyce to the Oklahoma Donor Association and the National Kidney Foundation.
Family will receive friends and relatives Wednesday evening 6 to 7 p.m. at Luginbuel Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 9, at 2 p.m. at Cowboy Junction, Vinita. Burial will follow at Carselowey cemetery.

JUANITA BLANCH DUNN
Grove, Okla. - Juanita Blanch Dunn, 87, died Saturday, December 6, 2003 at her residence. Juanita was born October 21, 1916 to Charles R. Alford and Edith Agnes (Bland) Alford. She married Wayne P. Dunn on December 21, 1937 and he preceded her in death on March 15, 1991.
Juanita was employed as a production worker for Electra Manufacturing Company in Independence, Kans. She has resided in Grove since 1982 and she attended the First Christian Church of Grove and was also a quilting maker.
Juanita is survived by her daughters Eileen Juanita Green of Grove, Patricia Darlene Morrison of West Chester, Ohio, and Lois Jean Kelly of Independence, Kans.; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 8. The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. , Tuesday, December 9, at the Worley-Luginbuel Chapel with Dr. Wayne Shaw officiating. Burial will follow at the Hickory Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Regency Hospice. Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home of Grove.
