HOWARD EUGENE ROWE
TOPEKA, Kan. - Howard Eugene Rowe, age 59, of Topeka, Kan., died Saturday, March 9, 2002 at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka. Mr. Rowe was born January 25, 1943 to Lovie and Ella (McElhany) Rowe in Martinsville, Ind. Mr. Rowe was raised in Fairland, Okla. He graduated from Commerce, Okla.,in 1962 and attended Claremore Junior College. He is a U.S. Army Veteran, having served from 1965 to 1968. He had been stationed in Germany. He served as a Cost Accountant for Nipak Gas Co., in Pryor, Okla., while attending Northeastern Oklahoma State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Business and was a member of the Oklahoma Alpha Chapter of Alpha Chi. He was employed as Accounting Manager for Hill Pet Products from 1978-1998 when he retired. He served as secretary/treasurer for Sunrise Optimist Club of North Topeka for four years; he was recognized as Master Secretary by the State Optimist District for the past two years. He was chairman of the club's Adopt a Highway Beautification Program. He was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church of Topeka.
On August 3, 1984 he married Cynthia F. (Erpelding) Gallagher at Topeka.
Survivors include: his wife, Cynthia F. Rowe, of the home; two sons, Randy Rowe and wife, Tracy, of Topeka and Troy Gallagher of Eugene, Ore.; two daughters, DeAnna Rowe of Athens, Ga., and Julie Schmitz and husband, Matt, of Bend, Ore.; three sisters, Gladys Iddings of Pittsburg, Kan., June Blalack and husband, Kenneth, of Miami, Okla., and Mary Morris of Grove; and grandchildren, Kyleigh and Jordan Rowe of Topeka.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, at Most Pure Heart of Mary, 3601 S.W. 17th Street, Topeka. Cremation will follow. Family will receive friends from 7:30-8 p.m. Monday at Northland Christian Church. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Northland Christian Church. EVA V. RUMBLE
HUTCHINSON, Kan. - Eva V. Rumble, age 93, of Hutchinson, Kan., died Tuesday, March 5, 2002 at the Hutchinson Hospital. She had been a resident of Hutchinson all but 15 years of her life. She was born December 24, 1908 in Hutchinson to Curtis Pearl and Rosa Anna Lena Fetzer Kennedy. She was a graduate of Hutchinson High School. She worked at Richards-Scheble Candy Company, Hutchinson Naval Air Station, Wichita VA Hospital, Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo., and retired from the Bureau of Land Management, Denver, Colo. She was a member of the First Christian Church, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, AARP, Delos Smith Senior Center, Order of the Eastern Star, and a charter member of Ark Valley Sams Camping Club.
She married Durlin J. Wilson in January, 1928. They divorced. He died in 1993. She married Dallas Rumble on May 4, 1957 in Wichita. He died January 18, 1983. She was also preceded in death by her step-father, Jesse Lareau, a sister and brother-in-law, Edna Lillian and Jack Gegan, and an infant sister.
Survivors include: a son and daughter-in-law, Dean Durlin and Gennell Wilson, of Wichita; three daughters and son-in-law, Dona M. and Bill Taggart of Hutchinson, Barbara J. Wilson of Grove, and Nancy L. Hammer of Lay Lake, Ala.; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Cremation is planned.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 8, at the First Christian Church of Hutchinson. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be sent to the First Christian Church or the American Heart Association in care of Johnson and Sons Funeral Home of Hutchinson.

CINDY MAE RUSSELL
TULSA, Okla. - Funeral services
for Cindy Mae Russell, age 34, of Tulsa, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 21, 2002 in the Elm Prairie Indian Baptist Church at Leach, Okla. The Rev. Dennis Bendabout and Rev. Fox Blackfox will officiate and burial will follow in the Elm Cemetery in Leach with services under the direction of the Key Funeral Home of Locust Grove, Okla.
Ms. Russell was born on December 28, 1967 in Claremore, Okla. She died on February 17 in Tulsa.
The daughter of Joe Russell and Mary Evelyn (Downing) Russell, she grew up and attended school in Gentry, Ark. She moved to Tulsa in 1984 from Gentry. She enjoyed playing basketball and volleyball. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include: six children, Debbie Russell of Tulsa, Courtney Orange of Ponca City, Okla., Kindle Orange of Ponca City, Cody Orange of Ponca City, Aaron Spencer of Tulsa, and Savannah "Sunshine" Spencer of Tulsa; two brothers, Joe Russell, Jr. and wife, Tonya, of Bixby, Okla., Porter Russell and wife, Sandra, of Tulsa; four sisters, Julie Russell of Twin Oaks, Okla., Jeanell Miller and husband, Pat, of Tulsa, Pam French and husband, Ronald, of Tulsa, and Tonya Russell of Tulsa; her parents, Joe Russell, Sr. of Tulsa, and Mary Russell and husband, Toney, of Tulsa; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Ms. Russell was preceded in death by one son, Jackie J. Orange.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20, at the Key Funeral Home Chapel in Locust Grove.
JOSEPH BERLIN SALA
TULSA, Okla. - Joseph Berlin Sala was born on January 2, 1928 in Fairland, Okla. to Clarence Sala and Hettie Johnson Sala. He went to be with his heavenly father on Wednesday, November 27, 2002 in Tulsa, at the age of 74. Funeral services
were held Monday, December 2, at Southwood Baptist Church in Tulsa and graveside services were held at Hickory Grove Cemetery.
Joe attended Jay school in Jay, Okla., and later married Ada LaRue Schmidt on February 8, 1948, in Montezuma, Kan. Joe farmed and worked for the Montezuma Co-op for 18 years. During this time, he also completed a two- year electronics course from RCA Electronics School, which allowed him to start thinking about a career change. He moved his family to Tulsa in 1966. Joe was a 24- year retiree of the Memorex Telex Company where he worked as an Electronics Inspector. He retired to the Grand Lake area near Grove in 1996 where he attended Zena Baptist Church and volunteered his time at Grand Lake Villa where his sister lived. He spent many years of contentment pursuing his hobbies as an Amateur Radio enthusiast and many hours playing his harmonicas and practicing the fiddle. The animals in the woods gave him constant amusement and his friends were the beneficiaries of his green thumb from his garden.
Joe is survived by: his wife, Ada Sala of Jay; son Michael Sala and wife, Jodi, of Tulsa; daughters, Christine First and husband, Philip, of Monticello, Iowa, and Susan Sala of Tulsa; grandsons, Joey Sala and wife, Kerrie, of Tulsa, Brian First of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Josh Sala of Tulsa; granddaughters, Kiley Eisenmann and husband, Dana, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Katie Sala of Tulsa; sisters, Delphia Roberts of Shidler, Okla., Audeene Brown of San Pablo, Calif., Leona Adair of Grove, Georgia Dixon of Jay, and June Main of Pryor, Okla.; and his brother, Ernest Sala, of Grove.
Joe became a Christian in 1953. He loved the Lord and remained faithful to Him until his death. Joe always had an instrument in his hand and a song in his heart. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him.
ARNOLD LEON SALAZAR
GENTRY, Ark. - Arnold Leon Salazar, age 81, of Gentry, Ark., died Monday, March 25, 2002 at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital, Siloam Springs, Ark. Born March 22, 1921 in Premont, Texas., he had been a resident of Northwest Arkansas and Northeast Oklahoma for the past 60 years. He was owner/operator of a trucking business as well as a carpenter and a distributor of Shacklee Products. Mr. Salazar was a WWII Air Force Veteran, having served as a machine gunner. He was a Post Commander of the American Legion Post of Gentry, and a retired commander of VFW Post 1674 of Siloam Springs. He had been a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Siloam Springs since 1940. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Grace Salazar.
Survivors include: his wife, Frances Linam Salazar of the home; two sons, Edwin Salazar of Cornell Park, Kan., and Robert Salazar of Owasso, Okla.; one daughter, Carla Keith of Jasmine, Ala.; seven grandchildren; three step-daughters, Melissa LeBlanc of San Diego, Calif., Diana Espero of Klamath Falls, Ore., and Louisa Ramirez of Siloam Springs; six step-grandchildren; one brother, Leo Salazar of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Maria Richardson of Alamo, Texas, and Alma Salazar of Premont, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The Rosary service was at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, at Wasson Memorial Chapel in Siloam Springs. Funeral mass will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Siloam Springs with Father Richard Strock officiating. Committal and military services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 28, at National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Ark. Funeral services

PHYLLIS LOUISE SANDERS
GROVE - Phyllis Louise Sanders, age 80, died Friday, February 8, 2002 in her home in Grove. The daughter of Ross and Georgia (Brown) Patton, she was born on March 19, 1921 in Cherokee, Okla. She was a charter member of the Bethany Christian Church in Miami and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Grove. She has a BS Degree in Education from Phillips University in Enid, Okla., and a Masters in Library Science from OSU. She began her teaching career in Blackwell and spent 13 years in Miami, later teaching for 10 years in Grove. Phyllis was a member of the Historical Dames and Cherry Reds of Grove. The wife of a Boy Scout Leader, she was a strong supporter of Boy and Girl Scouts. Her parents and a brother, Bill Patton, preceded her in death. Phyllis married Roy Sanders on January 31, 1942.
Survivors include: her husband, Roy Sanders; four children, Sally Murry, Tom Sanders, Jerry Sanders, and Betty Smith; a brother, Ben Patton; a sister, Judy Forney; 10 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral was at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 11, at the First United Methodist Church in Grove. The interment will be at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the Cherokee City Cemetery in Cherokee. The family suggests donations to the Grove Library Building Fund. The services are under the direction of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove.
RALPH STANLEY SANDERS
DELAWARE COUNTY - Ralph Stanley Sanders, age 57, went to be with the Lord on November 7, 2002 in Joplin, Mo., after a brief illness.
He was born on May 19, 1945 in Aberdeen, Wash., to Ervin Henry Sanders and Ruth Laverne Compton Sanders. He married Ruby Summerfield on June 2, 1990 in Miami, Okla.
Ralph served his country during the Viet Nam War while stationed in Korea in the 1970's. He was also a member of the Teamsters Local Union #486 in Saginaw, Mich., from 1979 to 1982.
Later Ralph moved to Oklahoma where he served as Undersherriff and as a Reserve deputy for Mayes County from 1984 until 1989. He also served eight years as a Delaware County deputy.
For the past five years he has been Superintendent of the Delaware County Solid Waste Management and Captain of the Reserve Officers of the Jay Police Department.
His mother and father preceded him in death.
Survivors include: his wife, Ruby, of Jay, Okla.; one daughter, Delayna Patterson and husband, Paul, of North Richland Hills, Texas.; one son, Ralph Sanders, Jr., of Claremore, Okla.; four step-children, Donny Summerfield, Elton Summerfield, Cindy Tuder, all of Jay, and Cheryl Brown of Fairland, Okla.; a brother, Donald Sanders of Rio Grande, Texas; two sisters, Janet Myers of Turlock, Calif., and Linda Robertson of Hico, Texas; seven grandsons, Noah Patterson, Ryan, Taylor, Dwayne, Dillon, Chad, Colby and Darrin; and seven granddaughters, Devin, Kaitlin, Emily, Cortney, Kylee, Susie and Autumn.
The funeral was at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 9, in the First Assembly of God Church in Jay with Brother Dewey Stanford officiating. The interment was in the Duffiels Cemetery. The services were under the direction of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay.
NEVA SANDERSON
WEST SILOAM SPRINGS, Okla. - Neva Sanderson, 84-year-old long-time resident of Watts, Okla., died November 3, 2002 at Quail Ridge Living Center, West Siloam Springs. She was born April 15, 1918 in Payne County, Okla., the daughter of George Webster and Nellie Post Webster. She was an industrial cleaner for businesses and nursing homes. Mrs. Sanderson was a member of Full Gospel Church of Westville, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her husband, L.R. Sanderson, in May 1968. There are no surviving children.
Survivors include: five grandsons, Larry Sanderson of Siloam Springs, Ark., Gary Sanderson of Watts, Lonnie Sanderson of Gentry, Ark., Donnie Sanderson of Siloam Springs, and Steve Sanderson of Watts; three granddaughters, Shannon Sanderson of Watts, Carolyn Griggs of Tom Bean, Texas, and Donni Youngpuppy of Jay, Okla.; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Martha Presley of Fresno, Calif.
Funeral services
will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 6, at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, with Mike Whorton officiating. Burial will follow at Bell Cemetery, West Siloam Springs. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, at Wasson Funeral Home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.
WILMA SANFORD
COMMERCE, Okla. - Wilma Sanford, former Dodge Community resident, passed away at 12:09 Saturday afternoon, February 16, 2002 at her home in Commerce, Okla., after a long illness. She was 76-years-old.
Mrs. Sanford was born November 3, 1925 in the Dodge Community, Grove, to William "Bill" and Alice Abbott Markle. On August 31, 1947 Wilma married Vernon T. Sanford at the First Baptist Church in Quapaw, Okla. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Sanford was employed at Parsons Ammunition Plant and at Eagle Picher in Quapaw for several years before retiring. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Quapaw and an active member of the Rebekahs Lodge.
Mrs. Sanford was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister.
Survivors include: two sons, Raymond Sanford of the state of Arkansas and Robert Sanford of Cameron, Mo.; two daughters, Judy Mason of Excelsior Springs, Mo., and Marsha Robertson, of Miami, Okla.; four sisters, Edna Brown and Ella Francis, Aliene Harris of Grove, and Ada Walls of California; Joanna Turner Kissar of Oklahoma City, Okla., Judy Junge Ramos of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, and a host of loving friends.
There will be visitation for family and friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday evening, February 18, at the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home of Commerce.
Services for Mrs. Sanford will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, February 19, at the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home of Commerce. Reverend Phillip McGechie will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.
Interment
will be at the G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami, Okla.
Services are under the direction of the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home of Welch, Okla.
FORREST SAPPINGTON
ROGERS, Ark. - Forrest Earl Sappington, age 82, of Rogers, Ark., died at 12:05 p.m., Saturday, March 16, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rogers after a short illness.
Mr. Sappington was born February 14, 1920 in Morris, Okla., to the late Arch Earl and Flora Ethel (Tea) Sappington. He had lived in Rogers for 16 years, coming from Gravette, Ark. He previously had lived in San Diego, Calif., for 22 years. He worked in construction as a carpenter. He was a member of the San Carlos Christian Church in San Diego. He served in the Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater.
He married Melba Katherine Fields on November 15, 1945 in Columbus, Kan.
Survivors include: his wife Melba of the home; two children that he raised, Sue England Castillo and Michele Beatty Coleman; a grandson, D.J. Slaughter; two half sisters, Rachel Montgomery and Charlene North, both of Southwest City, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services
for Mr. Forrest Sappington will be held on Tuesday, March 19 at 2 p.m. at the Dodge Baptist Church in Dodge, Okla. Reverend Dolphus Blevins and Reverend John E. Butler will officiate. Burial will be in Fields Cemetery in Dodge.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 18 at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo., from noon to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Bob Smith, Mike Fields, Donny Fields, Dewey Fields, Frank Newman, Robert Cullers, and Max Crossland.
Memorial contributions in memory of Forrest Sappington may be given to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association in care of the funeral home.
