Winford A. Collins
Lifelong Paden area resident Winford A. Collins, 68, died Thursday in Oklahoma City.
The son of Pleze Edgar and Sylvia Cecil (Morelock) Collins was born April 26, 1932, in Paden.
On Nov. 8, 1952, he and Betty Rhynes were married in Paden.
Collins was a retired oil field pumper and a member of the Burnett Mission Holiness Church near Paden.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Collins of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Vicki Collins of Enid and Mark and Cindy Collins of Paden; daughter and son-in-law, Treasa and Keith Flipps of Paden; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Billie Collins, Bob and Eunice Collins and Dean and Ruthie Collins, all of Paden; sisters and brothers-in-law, Seleta and Clarence Heard and Wilma and Sheridan Watts, all of Paden, and Anita and Jerry Smith of Prague; one brother-in-law and his wife, Burl and Saundra Rhynes of Springfield, Mo., and 12 grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Burnett Mission Holiness Church. The Rev. Paul Heard and Curtis Watts will officiate. Burial will follow in Paden Cemetery. Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague is in charge of arrangements.
Zelma Elizabeth
(Roberson) Steward
Zelma Elizabeth (Roberson) Steward of Tecumseh died Friday at an Oklahoma City hospital. She was 87.
She was born July 27, 1913, in Zanesville, Ill. She was the daughter of Millard Roberson and Mabel Roberson.
She was married Sept. 30, 1939, in Litchfield, Ill., to Jesse E. Steward, who preceded her in death Jan. 15, 1974.
Mrs. Steward, a homemaker, moved from Seminole to Tecumseh in 1983. She was a member of the Old Glory Assembly of God, Seminole, and, since 1983, a member of the First Assembly of God in Tecumseh.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Floyd Roberson, Freddie Roberson and William Roberson, and one sister, Gladys Roberson Cox.
Survivors include stepdaughter, Linda Brocco, Springfield, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Ollie Lesko of Litchfield, Ill., and Marcine Roberson of Seminole; nephews and their spouses, Clarence and Beverly Cox of Tecumseh, Leroy and Mary Roberson of Weatherford, Steve and Pamela Roberson of Wewoka; nieces and their spouses, Mabel and Bob Bell of Rochester, N.Y., Ruby and Tom Slightom of Litchfield, Ill., Nancy Roberson of Alexandria, Va., Sandy and Butch Holden of Newcastle, Freddie Jr. and Carla Roberson of Oklahoma City and great-niece Kari Yates of Tecumseh.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel, Seminole, with the Rev. Robert Rider officiating. Burial will be at Little Cemetery.
Eugenia LaRhee Wade
Eugenia LaRhee Wade died Thursday at St. Anthony's Hospital, Oklahoma City. The Shawnee resident was 53.
She was born Dec. 24, 1948, in Shawnee, the daughter of Imogene Moore Wade and Jack Wade. She graduated with Shawnee High School's class of 1966.
She was a seamstress for Shawnee Garment Factory for approximately 35 years.
Preceding her in death were her mother and father.
Survivors include her cousin and his wife, Leonard J. and Janie Lower of Fort Worth, Texas.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. today at First Church of God, Shawnee. The Rev. Tom Harrison will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Demuth Funeral Home, Oklahoma City.
Humbert Hunt
Shawnee resident Humbert "H.L." Hunt died Monday at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was 65.
He was born Aug. 16, 1934, in Tecumseh to William and Ethel Hunt.
He married Cora Morrison March 6, 1962, in Gainesville, Texas. They were married 38 years.
Hunt was raised and attended school in Tecumseh. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base 10 years ago and worked as a Shawnee School bus driver for nine years.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Downtown Pentecostal Holiness Church and Royal Rangers. Hunt also was a Shawnee resident for 46 years.
Survivors include his wife, Cora Hunt, of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Gene Harris, Meeker, Sharon Sullivan, Tecumseh, and Tammy and Clint Hanks, Seminole; grandchildren, Michael and Dustin Sullivan, Tecumseh, and Colt and Chad Harris, Meeker; brother, Everett "Buddy" Hunt, Shawnee; sisters, Thelma Irene Haley, Tecumseh, and Inez Thomason, Sulphur; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Eva Pearl Ray and LaVella Zimmerman.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Downtown Pentecostal Holiness Church with Ron Baldridge officiating. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the Royal Rangers, care of the Downtown Pentecostal Holiness Church, Shawnee.
Mary Marcella Farris
Meeker resident Mary Marcella Farris died Sunday in a local hospital. She was 76.
Mrs. Farris was born April 1, 1924, in Colorado Springs, Colo., to Elmer H. and Nellie (Heyer) Grady.
She graduated from high school in 1942 in Golden, Colo.
She married Rex Farris on July 26, 1945, in Walla Walla, Wash.
She worked as a grid inspector for Sylvania. She was also a homemaker.
Mrs. Farris was a member of three car clubs, the Early Ford V-8 Club, the Hudson Car Club and the Lincoln County 66 Cruisers.
She attended the Assembly of God Church in Shawnee.
She had lived in the Shawnee and Meeker areas since 1945, and also resided in Richland, Wash., from 1948-1950.
Mrs. Farris was preceded in death by her daughter, Carrol June Fields; a grandson, Michael Rider; parents, Elmer and Nellie Grady; and two sisters.
Survivors include her husband, Rex Farris, of the home; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Merrilee and Lester Wynn Sr., Shawnee; Ronnie Fields, Guthrie; Ella Farris, Meeker; Peggy Rider, Shawnee; Debbie and Greg Bradley, Alva; son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Beverly Farris, Meeker; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Funeral Home, Shawnee, with the Rev. Ronnie Fields officiating.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.
Rozella A. Harrison
Rozella A. Harrison died Tuesday in Prague. She was 68.
She was born Jan. 22, 1932, in Lucille. She was the daughter of Loyd Bruce Sr. and Velma Mae (Brashears) Stewart.
She was a homemaker and married Jack Harrison on Sept. 20, 1952.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one granddaughter.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Harrison of the home; two sons, Rex Harrison, Prague; Glen Harrison, Prague; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and Jeff Sjoberg, Seminole; Sheri and Mike Wyant, Prague; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Loyd Bruce Jr. and Barbara Stewart, Tulsa; Coy and Jean Stewart, Marshall, Texas; one sister and brother-in-law, Loyea and Dave Clarke, Broken Arrow; six grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Prague with Bro. Tim Emmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Prague Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague.
Lisa Dianne (Coffey) Flowers
Lisa Dianne (Coffey) Flowers of Stillwater died Monday in Stillwater. She was 31.
She was born Aug. 8, 1968, in Oklahoma City. She was the daughter of Donald L. and Mary E. (Deatherage) Coffey.
She married Steve Michael Flowers Sept. 8, 1990, in Choctaw.
Her family moved in 1968 to Jones, where she attended school and graduated from Jones High School in 1986. Mrs. Flowers attended Rose State College and Oklahoma State University. She worked at Venture in Oklahoma City.
After her marriage in 1990, she and her husband moved to Oklahoma City, where she worked at OKC OCU bookstore. She then became a homemaker to care for her family. She was a member of the Stillwater Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Steve Michael Flowers; son, Colton Layne Flowers, of the home; daughter, Lauren Nicole Flowers, of the home; parents, Donald L. and Mary E. Coffey, Jones; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Millissa Coffey, Princeton, Ky.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Teresa and Doug Foster, Jones, and Caren and David Bush, Edmond; grandparents, E.W. and Marguerite Deatherage, Bethany; father- and mother-in-law, Dean and Suzanne Flowers, Shawnee; sister-in-law, Pam Flowers, Norman; grandparents-in-law, Johnny and Marie Flowers, Meeker; five nieces and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Ila Coffey.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Church of Christ, Choctaw, with Robert George officiating. Burial will be at IOOF in Jones. The family will receive visitors from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Strode Funeral Home, Stillwater.
Joe F. Carpitcher
Joe F. Carpitcher of Canadian died Thursday. He was 66.
He was self employed.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Merritt Funeral Service Chapel, Eufaula
Harry Arnold Ledford
Harry Arnold Ledford of Shawnee died Tuesday at a local nursing home. He was 90.
Ledford was born March 17, 1911, in Shawnee to Claude Arnold and Anna Bell (Buxton) Ledford. He married Gladys Hendrix on March 31, 1928, in Tecumseh.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Anna and Russell Click, Shawnee; Virginia and Curley Dustman; son and daughter-in-law, Cecil and Virginia Ledford, Shawnee; brother, Fred Ledford, Shawnee; cousin, J.C. Ledford, Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three brothers, Ted, Walter and Marvin, and a son, Cecil Ledford.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mike Craig officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.
Nellie Ruth (Chritton) Gilmore
Nellie Ruth (Chritton) Gilmore, 105, Chandler, died Tuesday in Chandler.
The daughter of George F. and Emmeretta (Swan) Chritton was born Sept. 17, 1895, in Steator, Ill. She had lived in the Chandler area since 1973, moving there from Bartlesville.
Mrs. Gilmore was a member of First United Methodist Church of Chandler and Eastern Star of Bartlesville No. 142.
Her parents; husband, Walter J. Gilmore; son, Walter J. Gilmore Jr.; daughter, Opal Marie Potter, and one granddaughter preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughter, Maxine G. McColey of Manhattan, Kan.; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kan. Pastor Mike Graham will officiate.
A memorial service is set for 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, at First United Methodist Church, Chandler. The Rev. Hugh Willoby will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Chandler.
