Gertrude M. Tull

Gertrude M. Tull, Pilot Point, Texas, died Wednesday in Pilot Point. The former Shawnee resident was 75.

The daughter of Ernest Taylor and Lois Verna (Ragsdale) Mauldin was born in Shawnee on April 14, 1926. She married James E. "Jimmy" Dunn, who preceded her in death in 1976. She later married Gene Tull of Shawnee.

Mrs. Tull worked for Douglas Aircraft Co. during World War II. She later worked at Tinker Air Force Base as an airplane electrician from 1966 until late 1979. She had lived in Shawnee most of her life. She had lived in Pilot Point, Texas, for two years.

Tull was a longtime member of East Main Church of Christ and Central Church of Christ in Shawnee. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxillary of the VFW.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; sister, Bonita Ernistine Taber; brother-in-law, Pete Taber, and grandson, James Bryan Madden.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Michael Soules of Valley View, Texas; grandson, Michael Madden of Dallas; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Jerry Redikopp of Shawnee, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Resthaven Funeral Home. Don Sullivan will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1599 Clifton Road, Atlanta GA 30329, or Vitas Health Care, 400 S. Carroll Blvd., Suite 2000, Denton TX 76201.

Howard Newton

Former longtime Shawnee resident Howard Newton, 70, Wewoka, died Wednesday in Shawnee.

The son of William and Myrtle Newton was born May 9, 1931, in Shawnee, where he grew up.

On Feb. 16, 1957, he and Charlene Johnston were married in Shawnee. Newton, a truck driver, was a member of Johnson Church of God.

Preceding him in death were his wife and parents.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Arlita and Jose Martinez of Shawnee; his stepson and his wife, Charles and Darlene Cheek of Columbus, Neb.; six grandchildren, Joseph Russell; Daniel Russell; Kama Russell; Charles Cheek III; Chad Cheek, and Shiela Cheek; brother, Garland Newton of Oklahoma City, and his three sisters, Mary Lou Massey of Oklahoma City; Georgia George of Los Angeles, Calif., and Joy Dill of Seminole.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Church of God. The Rev. Leon Lutts will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Daisy Nancy Dimpel

Daisy Nancy Dimpel, 96, Seminole, died Friday at Seminole Estates Nursing Center.

She was born Oct. 19, 1904, in Terlton, Indian Territory, the daughter of Frank Hackleman and Mable (Rouse) Hackleman. In June, 1964, she married Merl Albert Dimpel, who preceded her in death June 1964.

Mrs. Dimpel, a homemaker, had been a resident of Seminole since 1963. She was a member of First Christian Church.

Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, daughter, Joy Sherritt, two brothers, Archie Hackleman and Thruman Hackleman, and three sisters, Beula McKibben, Violet Langston and Lela Francis.

Survivors include her three sons and a daughter-in-law, Hal Dimpel of Palm Springs, Calif.; Al "Mack" and Freda Dimpel of Shawnee, and Jon Dimpel of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughters, Iris Lauderdale of Seminole; Donna Reese of Pheonix, Ariz., and Dee Babb of Hennessey; 27 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel.

Anna A. Wilson

Anna A. Wilson died Friday at her Prague home. She was 86.

She was born Sept. 27, 1914, in St. John, Kan., to John and Bernice (Wise) Drake. She also had lived in Alva, Watonga, Boise City and Plano, Texas.

Mrs. Wilson, a homemaker, attended the Senior Citizens Center in Paden.

On Feb. 10, 1932, she married Richard Wilson in Kiowa, Kan. He preceded her in death Jan. 2, 1992.

She also was preceded in death by her parents and two stepbrothers.

Survivors include four sons, Gary Wilson, Guymon; Richard Wilson, Lawton; Dennis Wilson, Anniston, Ala.; Douglas Wilson, Prague; two brothers, John "Bus" Drake, Alva; Johnny Drake, Garden City, Kan.; 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Rosemound Cemetery, Medford, under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Prague, with Tim Emmons officiating.

Roy E. Yates

Longtime Chandler resident Roy E. Yates, 91, died Friday in Chandler.

He was born Oct. 31, 1909.

Services are pending with Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.

Bonnie Bell Sands

Former Prague resident Bonnie Bell Sands, 52, Wichita, Kan., died Wednesday in Omaha, Neb.

She was born March 2, 1949, in Oklahoma City, the daughter of Silas C. and Myrtle L. (Chaney) Gilbert. She was a member of the Gold Wing Touring Association.

On March 3, 1967, she and Joseph N. Sands Jr. were married in Prague.

Mrs. Sands was a homemaker.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors include her husband of the home; a son, Joseph N. Sands III of Wichita, Kan.; a daughter, Dorothy Lurene Favart of Jackson, Texas; a brother, Jim Gilbert of Eufaula; four sisters and a brother-in-law, Bonnie and Lindall Moore of Oklahoma City, Lurene Cornelius of Prague, Ruby Rath of Moore and Carol Marshall of Chico, Calif.; as well as three grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Prague. The Rev. Adrian Vorderlandwehr, O.S.B., will officiate. Burial will follow in the Catholic Cemetery in Prague. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Prague.

Juanita B. Dodd

hawnee resident Juanita B. Dodd died Wednesday in her home at the age of 72.

She was born Nov. 27, 1928, in Shawnee to Lawrence and Laura Addington. She attended the Immanuel Baptist Church and retired from the Shawnee Medical Center Clinic.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Elizabeth Whitfield and Ruby J. Addington; three brothers, Charles, Lee Roy and Votra Addington; and one grandson, Jason Hatfield.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Reneta and Bill Atrach, McAllan, Texas; Elizabeth and John Trifiletti, Miami, Fla.; Mary and Doug Hatfield, Flower Mound, Texas; six grandchildren, two sisters, Lena Crabtree of Shawnee, and Glatis Gierhart of Pueblo, Colo.; one half sister, Irellan Carter of Billings, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at the Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Richard Dickinson officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery.

James Snider

James "Jim" Snider, Shawnee, died Wednesday in Oklahoma City. He was 68.

Snider was born June 9, 1931, in Borger, Texas, to Heber and Dorothy (Osburn) Snider.

He grew up in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico, and had lived in Shawnee for more than 40 years.

He married Quae Hall on Dec. 12, 1953, in Mountainaire, N.M.

Snider was an electrical engineer at Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City before his retirement in 1984.

He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during the Korean War.

He was a member of the Church of God in Shawnee.

Snider was preceded in death by his daughter, Glenda "Cissy" Snider; his parents, Heber and Dorothy Snider; and a brother, Clarence Snider.

Survivors include his wife, Quae Snider, of the home; three daughters and a son-in-law, Belinda Snider, Cheryl Thomason, and Tamra Hall and John Shaub, all of Shawnee; foster daughter, Diane Richards, Arkansas; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Loyd Teague, Greenbriar, Ark.; sister-in-law, Sharon Chambers, Tecumseh; seven grandchildren, James Darty, Timothy Darty, Clint Thomason, Shane Thomason, Holly Hall, Krissy Hall and Cassidy Hall; three great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, at Cooper Funeral Chapel in Tecumseh, with Pastor Don Pate officiating.

Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery.

Ida Lee Whitten

Ida Lee Whitten of Tecumseh died Wednesday. She was 80.

She was born Feb. 7, 1920, in Oklahoma to Thomas Jefferson and Edna (Lee) Whitten. She was a graduate of Bethel High school, where she was valedictorian of her class.

She was a lifelong resident of Oklahoma, moving to Tecumseh as a child and had lived there since.

She worked as a child care provider, operating a day care center from her home many years.

She was a member of the Church of God 7th Day since 1934.

Preceding her in death were her parents and four brothers, Jessie, Edgar, O.T. and Feggen Whitten.

Surviving are two sisters, Leora Childers of Tecumseh and Verna Mae Crisp of Artesia Wells, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Beltan Sweet and Chip Hinds officiating. Burial will follow in Tecumseh Cemetery.

Neal D. Seikel

Neal D. Seikel died Thursday at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was 64.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Dale Cemetery.

Other announcements are pending with Paylor Funeral Home of Midwest City.

Thomas Irvin Simpson

Thomas Irvin Simpson, Jacksonville, Ark., died Wednesday following a battle with cancer. He was 63.

Simpson served with the U.S. Air Force after 23 years, retiring with the rank of senior master sergeant.

He served in the Vietnam War and earned a Bronze Star and many other honors.

He retired from Zumwalt Enterprises after 16 years.

Simpson was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Marie Pfleger.

Survivors include his wife, Angie Simpson; three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Cindy Simpson, Jacksonville, Ark.; David and Regina Simpson, Tecumseh; Todd and Beth Simpson, Bull Shoals, Ark.; a brother, Hershel Simpson, Stuttgart, Ark.; three sisters, Louise Stringer, Pine Bluff, Ark.; Bernie Pfleger, Stuttgart, Ark.; and Shirley Stephens, DeValls Bluff, Ark.; eight grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 901 N. University, Little Rock, AR 72207.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, at Griffin Leggett-Rest Hills Funeral Home in North Little Rock, Ark.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at Griffin Leggett-Rest Hills Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will be in Rest Hills Memorial Park.
