Catherine J. English
Tecumseh resident Catherine J. English died Wednesday in a local nursing home. She was 94.
Services are pending under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
Cora Mae Wood
Longtime Pottawatomie County resident Cora Mae Wood died Saturday at a local hospital. She was 82.
Mrs. Wood, a resident of Tecumseh Sunset Estates for the past five years, was born March 12, 1918, in Dale. She was the daughter of Lucien and Sarah Elizabeth Hodges. She was a graduate of Dale High School.
She married Bill Bohannon in 1935. Several years after her divorce from Bohannon, she married A.D. Wood in Shawnee.
She worked in the shipyards in California during World War II and at several restaurants. She also was assistant administrator at Central Oklahoma Treatment Center, Tecumseh, for many years until her retirement.
Mrs. Wood is preceded in death by her husband, A.D. Wood, in 1967, her parents, three brothers, Jay, Pete and Cecil Hodges, a sister, Edith Buchannan and a grandson, William Bryan Shaw.
She is survived by her three daughters, Billie Shaw, Mustang, Mary Robertson, Seminole, and Karen Green, Shawnee; adopted daughter, Wanda Souders; son, Murry C. Bohannon, Santa Rosa, Calif.; grandchildren, Tamara Brown, Oklahoma City, Kyndel and Ed McDonald, Jones, Jennifer and Keith Thomas, Vian, Donnie and Trisha Robertson, Arlington Heights, Ill., Cory and Leslie Berry, Seminole, Kennedy Robertson, Seminole, Nicholas Green, Shawnee, Danny Bohannon, Santa Rosa, Calif., Kimberly Bohannon, Twentynine Palms, Calif., and Laurie and Ray Hall, Twentynine Palms, Calif.; great-grandchildren, Brian Hall and Joseph Bohannon of Twentynine Palms, Calif., Meghan and Alec Brown of Oklahoma City, Justin Griffith, Jones, and Lakyn Seeley and Langley Berry, both of Seminole, Michael and Logan Thomas of Vian and Crystal and Brock McDonald of Jones.
Graveside services
were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Resthaven Memorial Park. Roesch-Walker Funeral Home was in charge of services.
William F. Adams
William F. "Bush" Adams of Tecumseh died Saturday in Oklahoma City. He was 43.
He was born April 1, 1957, in Shawnee. He attended Shawnee schools.
Adams was born and reared in Shawnee, and has lived in Tecumseh since 1984. On Sept. 2, 1977, he married Janice Dodson in Shawnee.
He had worked as a driver for Sullivan Wholesale, did paint and body work for Stewart Wholesale and currently was employed as a night supervisor for HGP Industries, Shawnee. He was a member of Sharon Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Daniel and Louella Megehee and two uncles, Bill and Doug Megehee.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Adams of the home; three daughters, April Adams, Danielle Adams and Alyson Adams, all of the home; mother, Mary Shahan of Knox City, Texas; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Sherry and Steven Ellis and Andrea and Artie Coffman, all of Knox City, Texas, and Betty and John Belshe, of Tecumseh; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Randy Adams of Shawnee and Charlie and Sherry Clem of Cove, Ark.; aunts, Juanita Megehee and Sue Seawright; special family members, Leroy Megehee, Jennifer Utter and sons, Gavin and Brytton and numerous friends and other family members.
Graveside services
will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Neal Cemetery with the Rev. Clint Dawkins, pastor of Sharon Baptist Church, Charlie Clem and the Rev. Richard Gay officiating. Services are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
The family will gather to receive friends at 9 a.m. at Cooper Funeral Home. The family has designated the Oklahoma Brain Tumor Foundations appropriate for memorials.
Treva Pearl Bounds
Treva Pearl Bounds of Konawa died Monday. She was 71.
She was born May 9, 1929, in Virgil, Kan., to Martha and Marvin Crawford. She was married to C.L. Bounds at Lyons, Kan., on Nov. 25, 1954.
She was a certified nurses assistant who had lived in Konawa since 1964. She moved here from Kingsville, Texas.
Mrs. Bounds was a member of the Vamoosa Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by one son, Terrence Groves.
Survivors include husband, C.L. Bounds, Konawa; one daughter, Michele Medearis, Talequah; three sisters, Barbara Burk, Hutchinson, Kan.; Violet Billings, Hutchinson, Kan.; Sherry Carroll, Konawa and five grandchildren.
Graveside services
will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Vamoosa Cemetery.
Bob R. Alsip
Shawnee resident Bob R. Alsip died Sunday in an Oklahoma City hospital. He was 65.
Alsip was born June 17, 1934, in Oklahoma City, to Jim and Estelle Alsip.
He grew up in the Macomb and Romulus areas.
Alsip married Cora Harjo on Jan. 6, 1959, in Ada. They lived in California for 10 years before moving to Maud.
Alsip owned and operated A&A Appliance Store, and was a member of the Romulus Baptist Church.
He had lived in Shawnee for the past 12 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cora Harjo, on Feb. 4, 1997; a son, Darryl Alsip, on April 21, 1999; his parents, Jim and Estelle Alsip; three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his four daughters and two sons-in-law, Sharon Miller, Tecumseh; Darla and Ronnie Robbins, Shawnee; Lynn Alsip, Earlsboro; Marlene and Steve Haynes, Ada; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel in Shawnee, with the Rev. Gary Hawkins officiating.
Burial will be in Romulus Cemetery, under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
Franklin Arnal Griffin
Franklin Arnal Griffin of Macomb died Friday at a local nursing home. He was 95.
He was born March 3, 1905, in Fair Play, Mo. He was the son of Isaac Franklin and Ettie Myrtle (Mitchel) Griffin.
He attended OK School near Pink. Griffin was a retired bus driver who worked for Macomb Public Schools for many years.
He was married to Lucitta Viola Johnson on Feb. 24, 1927, who preceded him in death. He was a charter member of Macomb Assembly of God Church.
Griffin lived in Macomb for 61 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters and brothers, Finis Griffin, Vera Kimball, Lillie Holstein, Marion Griffin, Myrtle Griffin, William Griffin, Melvin Griffin, Isabelle Holland and Velma Rapp and daughter, Laverne Griffin.
Survivors include one daughter, Irene Doss of Shawnee; son and daughter-in-law, Eugene and Nancy Griffin of Macomb; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, eight stepgrandchildren, three step great-great-grandchildren, brother and sister-in-law, James Kenneth and Thelma Griffin of Ardmore; four stepsisters and two stepbrothers and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services
will be 2 p.m. today at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ruby Nell Davis York officiating. Burial will be at Prairie View Cemetery, east of Macomb.
Jack Monroe Lovette
Jack Monroe Lovette of Shawnee died Sunday. He was 49.

will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with Rev. Guy Cagle officiating.
Velma Brightwell
Velma Brightwell of Shawnee died Saturday at a local hospital. She was 86.
She was born Dec. 23, 1913, in Earlsboro. She was the daughter of John P. and Laura (Skinner) Bivins.
She attended school in Earlsboro and Bernard School in Tecumseh. Mrs. Brightwell was a homemaker.
She was married Sept. 15, 1913, in Tecumseh to Bruce Brightwell. She was a member of the Downtown Pentecostal Holiness Church for 55 years.
Mrs. Brightwell lived most of her life in Shawnee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include son, Charles Brightwell, Tecumseh; two great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Downtown Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Ron Baldridge officiating. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery.
Her body may be viewed Tuesday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
John M. Lockhart
Shawnee resident John M. Lockhart died Monday at his home. He was 59.
Lockhart was born May 6, 1940, in Shawnee to Clarence Lockhart and Anna Nowakowski Lockhart McCracken.
He graduated from Earlsboro High School in 1958. He attended Murray State College and graduated from The University of Oklahoma. He then obtained his master's degree at Oklahoma State University Tech in Oklahoma City.
He was a math teacher for many years and later worked as a computer programmer for public schools in Oklahoma City and the board of education until his retirement. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Shirley Lockhart, Washington, Okla.; daughter, Tonya Reeves, Moore; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Joe Hill, Shawnee; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; two nephews; one niece and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rusty Williams officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
Frances Helen Wyskup
Harrah resident Frances Helen Wyskup died Tuesday at the Harrah Nursing Center. She was 95.
Mrs. Wyskup was born June 16, 1903, in Harrah to Sybiak and Mary (Klimkowski) Anton. She was a homemaker. She was a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of America and member of St. Teresa's Altar Society.
Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn Miles, Harrah, and Dorothy Nadeau, Tennessee; sons, Raymond and Robert Wyskup, both of Texas; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Wake services will be 8 p.m. Thursday at St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Harrah. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Teresa's Catholic Church with the Rev. James Murphy and the Rev. Eugene Marshall officiating. Burial will be in St. Teresa's Cemetery under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service.
Memorials may be made to Father Eugene Marshall Scholarship Fund at St. Gregory's Abbey in Shawnee.
Dorothy Hall
Former Shawnee resident Dorothy Hall died April 30 in Texarkana, Ark. She was 79.
Mrs. Hall was born April 2, 1920, in Muskogee to Roy and Ollie Mae Hall. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Shawnee for 18 years. She later moved to McKinney, Texas, and then moved to Texarkana two years ago. She was a member of Oklahoma Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include son, Mike Burch, Dallas, Texas; daughter, Gail Warkon, Dallas, Texas; sisters, Betty Jordan, Shawnee, and Margie Eskridge, Hot Springs, Ark.; and brother, Roy Hall, Shawnee.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ralph Hall; and sister, Juanita McNutt.
Services were held May 3 in Texarkana, Ark. Burial was in Ridgeview Memorial Park in McKinney, Texas.
Jessie Deere
Shawnee resident Jessie Deere died Wednesday at a local hospital at the age of 80.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Liberty Baptist Church. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
