Joe F. Rogers
Joe F. Rogers, 73, Shawnee, died Tuesday at a local hospital.
He was born Nov. 4, 1927, in Oklahoma City to Omer and Zella (Ellsworth) Rogers. Rogers, a McLoud High School graduate, served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He married Velma Wooley on May 7, 1950, in Shawnee.
Rogers was a conductor for Rock Island Railroad for 41 years, retiring in 1989.
Rogers, a member of the Masonic Lodge at McLoud, received his 50-year pin last year. He was also a member of the AARP and National Association of Retired Veteran Railway Employees, Inc.
He lived in the Shawnee and McLoud area most of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Omer Rogers Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Velma Rogers of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Ron Stewart, Norman; one brother, Bob Rogers, Oklahoma City; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10 a.m. today at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Rusty Williams officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Lena Manley
Lena Manley of Shawnee died Wednesday in Oklahoma City. She was 93.
She was born Aug. 2, 1907, in Clovis, N.M., to J.F. and Mintie Manley.
She grew up in the Byng area and graduated from Byng High School. She attended East Central State College, Ada, where she received her teaching certificate.
Miss Manley taught at Lake Elementary School in Sand Springs for 22 years. After retirement, she moved to Shawnee.
A member of Liberty Baptist Church since 1955, she participated in the Fellowship Sunday school class.
Survivors include two nephews, Gary Carr and wife, Chele, Shawnee; Ron Carr and wife, Gail, Edmond; one great-nephew, Joshua Carr, Shawnee; one great-niece, Shantel Carr, Dallas, Texas.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Liberty Baptist Church with Bill Matthews, Dr. Dan Marker and Phil Thompson officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. Monday at Rosedale Cemetery in Ada. Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Ralph E. Fisher
Ralph E. Fisher, 80, Sparks, died Wednesday in at the Veterans Center in Norman, where he had lived for more than three years.
He was born April 3, 1920, in Tryon.
Fisher, who opened the Fishers Garage in Sparks in 1974, served the community as a volunteer firefighter and a member of the water board.
Survivors include his wife, Melba Fisher; daughter and son-in-law, Sharri and Michael Jonas of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Reba Bailey of Amarillo, Texas; Wanda Blocker, Moore; three brothers, Earl Fisher of Amarillo, Texas; Bob Fisher of Wayne and Kenneth Fisher of Owasso; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at University Christian Church. Graveside services will be 4:30 p.m. at Sparks Cemetery. John Ireland Funeral Home, Moore, is in charge of arrangements.
Viewing will be before the service. Memorials may be made to Norman Veterans Center, Benefits Fund, Norman, OK or to the Alzheimer's Association.
Manuel Thomas Spaugy
Manuel Thomas Spaugy of Tecumseh died Thursday in Shawnee. He was 81.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Dwyane Dennis and Don Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery.

Margie Mae Arnold
Margie Mae Arnold, Shawnee, died Wednesday in Shawnee. She was 87.
She was born May 13, 1913, in Okemah, the daughter of William and Stella (Collins) Bell Yadon. She graduated from Okemah High School.
She retired from Montgomery Wards as a bookkeeper. She also worked as a bookkeeper for Brown Furniture for 20 years.
In 1933, she married Rex Taylor, who preceded her in death in 1940. In 1942, she married J. Hugh Nolen, who preceded her in death in 1946. She was married in 1953 to E.F. Arnold, who preceded her in death in 1994.
For more than 50 years, Mrs. Arnold was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where she served as superintendent of the Intermediate Sunday School Department for 20 years. She was also a member of the W.M.U. and T.N.T.'s at Immanuel Baptist Church.
She had lived in Shawnee since the early 1950s.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, two sisters, Bessie Armstrong and Ann Parker, and three brothers, Fred Yadon, Ralph Yadon and Jess Yadon.
Survivors include five children and their spouses, Pat and Dick Curtis of Shawnee, Rex and Sue Taylor of Fort Worth, Texas, Frances and Kenneth Dare of Tecumseh, Edwina and Charles Rounds of Oklahoma City and Rex and Wanda Arnold of Georgetown, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Josh Curtis of Hollywood, Calif., Rick, Rob and Sunni Taylor, all of Fort Worth, Texas, Evan Dare of Edmond, Kristy Pinion of Tulsa, Sue Black of Midwest City, Cathy Bartlett of Bethany, Suzanne Kelly of Austin, Texas, and Lyndon Arnold of Denver, Colo.
She also is survived by her sister, Glen Ola Hopwood of Edmond; special friend, Jewel Titsworth of Shawnee; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Sam Hendry will officiate and burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Okemah.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Shawnee or Gideon Bible.
Helen Laverne Dunlap
Helen Laverne (Flippin) Dunlap of Oklahoma City died Tuesday in Oklahoma City. She was 97.
She was born Sept. 30, 1903, in Hickman, Ky., to Marvin and Annie O. (Williams) Flippin. On July 29, 1929, she married John Earl Dunlap Sr. in Mound City, Ill.; he preceded her in death May 29, 1963.
She moved in 1908 to Cairo, Ill., where she and her husband operated Dunlap Transfer Co. for 36 years. She lived in Dallas, Texas, for 19 years before moving to Oklahoma City.
She was a homemaker, Sunday school teacher and member of the First Church of God in Cairo.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; her son, John Dunlap Jr.; her daughter, Mary McKinney; a brother, Paul Flippin; and a sister, Mozelle Reid.
Survivors include three daughters, Betty Hock, Richardson, Texas; Barbara J. Frogge, Dallas, Texas; Judy Summers of Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; special friend Carolyn Schaefer, Fountain Hill, Ariz.; and many other relatives and friends.
Services were Thursday at Cooper Funeral Chapel, Tecumseh, with Al Campbell officiating. Burial was at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Villa Ridge, Ill.
Hubert Bruce Jenkins Jr.
Hubert Bruce Jenkins Jr. of Earlsboro died Thursday at a local hospital. He was 72. Services are pending with Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.
Edna Julia Marshall
Edna Julia Marshall of Konawa died Tuesday at a Maud nursing home. She was 87.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Dora Cemetery northeast of Konawa. Further information is pending with Knight Funeral Home, Maud.
Doris Marie Harris
Brooksville resident Doris Marie Harris, 68, died Thursday at her home.
She was born Jan. 23, 1933, in Oklahoma City to Lee and Inis Wyatt. On June 4, 1952, she married Athel Eugene Harris, who survives her of the home.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Eugene Harris and Bill Harris; and a granddaughter, Bridgette "Peanut" Payne.
Surviving relatives include four daughters, Patricia Edwards and Carolyn Rosamond, both of Tecumseh, Susan Payne of Konawa and Cheryl Pollard of Eufaula; three sons, Bobby Harris of Tecumseh, Robert Harris of Harrah and Micheal Harris of Earlsboro; 18 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial services are pending.
Paul W. Nootbaar
Paul W. Nootbaar died Thursday at his home in Paden. He was 73.

Saundra Chambers
Saundra Chambers of Shawnee died Sunday at a local hospital. She was 56.
She was born Jan. 20, 1945, the daughter of Allen Forrest and Olga Norma (Davis) Yeager.
She had lived in Shawnee since she was a young child.
She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and was employed at Tinker Air Force Base.
Preceding her in death were her parents.
Surviving is her cousin, Martin Cash of Meeker.
Services will be 3:15 p.m. Saturday at Shawnee Freelife AA Group.
Arrangements are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.
Catherine Jeanette English
Catherine Jeanette English of Tecumseh died Wednesday at a local nursing home. She was 94.
She was born Nov. 3, 1906, in Oil City, a province of Alberta, Canada.
She married Leroy Jefferson English on June 14, 1933, in Guthrie during the depression. They met in Pawhuska during the oil boom days.
During their 62-year marriage, they resided in small state towns where they were both active in churches and fraternal groups. In 1994, they moved from Healdton, Okla., to Tecumseh.
Her husband preceded her in death March 16, 1994. Also preceding her in death was her sister, Rose Faught.
Surviving are a large number of nieces and nephews, including the Rev. Don English, Oklahoma City, niece Gail Reeves, Tecumseh; sisters-in-law, Ruth Tennyson of Shawnee; Fern Reeves of Tecumseh, and Wilma Vaughan of Norman; and brother-in-law, Virgil Reeves.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Tecumseh Cemetery with the Rev. Don English officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
