Clara Ella Elizabeth Clark
Clara Ella Elizabeth Clark died Saturday in Shawnee. She was 85.
Mrs. Clark was born July 25, 1914, in Norton, N.M., to August F. and Dorothea (Young) Ahlwardt.
She married James W. Clark on Nov. 17, 1935, in Walters.
Mrs. Clark was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene of Davenport.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Clark; a grandson; her parents, August and Dorothea Ahlwardt; and six sisters.
Survivors include her three sons and daughter-in-law, Donald W. and Peggy Clark, Yukon; Charles H. Clark, Albuquerque, N.M.; James F. Clark, Bethany; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Lee Cashat, Davenport; Shirley and James McGavock, El Reno; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Church of the Nazarene in Davenport, with Rodney Amos officiating.
Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Paradise Valley Cemetery in Lawton, under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Stroud.
Herbert Earl Bryce
Norman resident Herbert Earl Bryce died Friday in a Norman hospital. He was 74.
Bryce was born on March 8, 1925, in Shawnee, the son of H.E. and Hester Bryce.
He grew up in Bethel, and married Ola Mae Farris on Aug. 8, 1942, in Chandler.
He worked as a quality control specialist at Tinker Air Force Base before his retirement in 1980.
Bryce served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of Alameda Baptist Church in Norman, and the Masonic Lodge.
He had lived in Norman since 1972.
He was preceded in death by his parents, H.E. and Hester Bryce.
Survivors include his wife, Ola Mae Bryce, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Darla Bryce, Norman; five daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Mike Coleman, Fountain Valley, Calif.; Darla and H.A. Pittman, Noble; Pam and Ike Hall, Norman; Kathy and Carl Dunaway, Lexington; Sheri and Wayne Diehm, Norman; a sister and brother-in-law, Delores and Harvey Bass, Shawnee; 19 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel in Shawnee with the Rev. Phil Ratliff officiating.
Burial will be in Blackburn Chapel Cemetery, under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
Bobby R. House
Bobby R. House, Shawnee, died Friday in an Oklahoma City hospital. He was 62.
House was born Oct. 31, 1936, in Brownwood, Texas, to Odis and Eddie (Holcomb) House. He graduated from Ranger (Texas) High School, and worked for HGP Glass Company until his retirement.
He married Virginia Aplicador on Aug. 22, 1964, in San Fernando, Pampanga, Philippines. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1979, after 21 years of service.
Surviving include his wife, Virginia, of the home; a sister, Wilma McGough, Ranger, Texas; a brother, Donald House, Joshua, Texas; several nieces and nephews, and a Godson, Emmanual Navarro, Reno, Nev.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Benedict Catholic Church with Father Charles Massoth, O.S.B., officiating. Burial is at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
Roy E. Shepherd
Shawnee resident Roy E. Shepherd died Tuesday at a local hospital. He was 91.
Shepherd was born Aug. 22, 1907, in Seminole to Dan and Alice (Waite) Shepherd. He married Opal Bernice Jones on Dec. 29, 1937, in Oklahoma City.
Shepherd attended Mountain View School. In 1933 he received a degree in accounting from the University of Oklahoma.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Force and completed his basic training at Shepherd Field in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was stationed at Glendale, Calif., and San Antonio, Texas, before serving in the New Guinea area.
He farmed and raised cattle near Asher for 27 years and also ran loading machinery for a gravel-washing pit on the property. He retired in 1973 and moved to Shawnee, where he was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Opal Shepherd, Shawnee; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Rusty Williams officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Wesley United Methodist Church.
Martha Ellen Clark
Stroud resident Martha Ellen Clark died Friday in Oklahoma City. She was 64.
Mrs. Clark was born Aug. 29, 1934, in Stroud to Frank and Mattie (Lewis) Jackson. She was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church of Davenport.
Survivors include her four sons, Harold Clark, David Clark and Rusty Clark, all of Davenport; Wayne Clark, Chandler; three daughters, Judy Richardson and Tammie McElroy, both of Davenport; Debbie Capps, Stroud; four sisters, Geraldine Soderstrom, Prague; Shirley Dervin, Stroud; Flora Samuels, Hunter; Louise McClendon, Davenport; 15 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one granddaughter.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Davenport under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Chandler, with the Rev. Mike Mitchell officiating.
Lucille E. Lamar
Former Prague resident Lucille E. Lamar, Edmond, died Friday in Edmond. She was 86.
Mrs. Lamar was born Sept. 29, 1912, in Prague to John Allen Way and Daisy Ann (Simmons) Way. She married Lee C. Lamar on Dec. 30, 1931, in Tulsa.
She graduated from Prague High School in 1929. She and her husband lived in Edmond for the past 20 years.
Survivors include her husband, Lee C. Lamar, of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Gene Liga and Carol and Tony Vaccaro, all of Edmond; brothers and sisters-in-law, Woodrow and Fern Way, Norman; Ernest and Margaret Way, Prague; sister-in-law, Margaret K. Way, Prague; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister and one grandson.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Prague Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Prague.
Robert E. Stoddard
Robert E. "Bob" Stoddard, Tishomingo, died Saturday in Tishomingo. He was 79.
Stoddard was born Nov. 13, 1919, in Sherman, Texas, to Robert Franklin and Bessie Esoline Treadway Stoddard. He married Wanda Orrie Hendrix on Oct. 18, 1941, in Okmulgee.
He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1939 to 1940 and in the U.S. Army during World War II. He graduated from Southeastern State College in Durant in 1952 with a bachelor's degree in education.
Stoddard was a band director at Caddo and Antlers for five years and for more than 20 years at Tishomingo High School, where the band performed at six Cotton Bowls.
He served as director of the youth conservation camp at the Tishomingo National Wildlife Refuge and was the 1964 National Sand Bass Festival Fishing Champion.
He was inducted into the Oklahoma Bandmaster Association Hall of Fame in 1976 and was voted as Johnston County Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Charles Teel, Tulsa; Sherri and Royce Thompson, Shawnee; and four granddaughters, Suzanne Teel Crews, Danielle Teel Balentine, Taylor Thompson and Bailey Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his wife on Jan. 23, 1989; and his parents.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Tishomingo under the direction of Clark Funeral Service, Tishomingo, with the Rev. John Harris officiating. Burial is at Tishomingo Cemetery.
Etta Fay Shreve
Harrah resident Etta Fay Shreve, 86, died Friday in Midwest City. Mrs. Shreve was born Aug. 24, 1912, in Harrah to Horace Preston and Rada Etta (Curry) Dunlap. She married Elzie O. Shreve on July 10, 1932, in Chandler.
She was a homemaker and a Methodist.
Survivors include her son, George Shreve, Harrah; daughter, Mary Brown, Tulsa; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband on May 11, 1982.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Asa Smith Funeral Chapel, Harrah, with the Rev. Harold Brown officiating. Burial will be at Memory Lane Cemetery, Harrah.
Ola Marie (Mullings) Parnell
Ola Marie (Mullings) Parnell , 71, Konawa, died Friday in Maud. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, St. Louis, with the Rev. George Bone officiating. Burial will be in Cummings Cemetery, Maud, under the direction of Knight Funeral Home, Maud.
Mrs. Parnell was born Jan. 23, 1928, in Lindsay to Calvin and Anna Pearl (Ellis) Mullings. She worked as an in-home provider.
Survivors include her daughter, Dianna L. Gay, Konawa; son, Floyd Dale Gay, Missouri; two brothers, Orval Mullings, St. Louis; Alvin Mullings, Maud; sister, Lanita Gallion, Tecumseh; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Carol Ann Armstrong.
John F. Smith
Shawnee resident John F. Smith died Sunday at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was 63.
Smith was born June 24, 1936, in Norman to Harry E. Smith and Emma (Smith) Smith. He married Patty Oliver on July 25, 1961, in Norman.
A graduate of Norman High School, Smith later attended Oklahoma City University where he studied liberal arts. He was a licensed practical nurse for 28 years and was employed by the Shawnee AM/PM Clinic for the past five years. He had also spent five years with Shawnee Regional Hospital and 18 years with Mission Hill Hospital.
He volunteered for Shawnee's Habitat for Humanity and was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. He had lived in Shawnee 31 years.
Survivors include his wife Patty Smith of the home; daughter, Angela Grass, Shawnee; son, Clark Smith, Shawnee; three grandchildren, John Grass, Shauna Grass and Stephanie Smith; two sisters, Beatrice Reed, Capistrano Beach, Calif., and Margaret Walsh, Rockledge, Fla.; four nephews and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rusty Williams officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity.
William Riggan Fleming
Shawnee resident William Riggan "W.R." Fleming died Saturday at his home. He was 87.
Fleming was born Jan. 29, 1913, in Mena, Ark., to John and Emma Price Fleming. He attended Clover Leaf School in the Corinth Community. In 1929, Smith moved with his family to Shawnee.
He married Alaine Miller on April 8, 1939, in Ponca City.
After he received a degree from the Los Angeles, Calif., School of Diesel Engineering in 1937, Smith worked as a shipyard welder during World War II in Richmond, Calif. He then became a cross-country pipeline station welder and later started his own welding business in the Shawnee area. He was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife Alaine; two daughters and sons-in-law, Nedra and Harold Weddle, Ada, and LaDonna and Jack Marshall, Oklahoma City; four grandchildren and their spouses and children, Tanya Weddle Marical and her husband Darrin and son Chase, Harjo, Steve Weddle, St. Louis, Mo., Melissa Marshall, Dallas, Texas, and Zack W. Marshall, Chicago, Ill.; sister, Emma Jean Fleming, Oklahoma City.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Garland, Olan and Doyle.
Services will be 10 a.m. today at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.
