Morgan E. Walker
Former Wewoka resident Morgan E. Walker, 80, of Rusk, Texas, died Wednesday in Jacksonville, Texas.
Graveside services
will be 11 a.m. at Oak Park Cemetery, Chandler, with the Rev. Thom Chappelle officiating. Local arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Chandler.
He was born July 17, 1918, in Payson. He had lived in Rusk, Texas, for four years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Rusk, Texas, and had retired from Pan American Petroleum Company, Elmore City.
He became a 32nd degree Mason in 1975 and was a member of the Eastern Star, Wewoka. He was a former member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He served in the U.S. Army's 45th Division during World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Wannetta Walker, Rusk, Texas; son and daughter-in-law Thomas and Elwanda Walker, Wewoka; daughter and son-in-law, Moretta (Marty) and Jim Lucas, Rusk, Texas; grandson, Clay Lucas, Rusk, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Nita Walker, Oklahoma City; sister and brother-in-law, Geneva and Richard Melson, Chandler; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Walker, Chandler; and several nieces and nephews.
Wanda Ladine Davidson
Wanda Ladine Davidson of Shawnee died Sunday at a local nursing home. She was 81.
She was born March 21, 1919, in Commanche. She was the daughter of James Armstrong and Dora Curlee (Nelson) Black.
She graduated from Wewoka High School in 1938. She was a member of a charter member of the National Honor Society.
Davidson attended Oklahoma A&M College and worked for Oklahoma A&M Extension Service and Oklahoma City University for Certified Professional Secretaries. She was a legal secretary.
She married Avery Clifton Davidson April 4, 1941, in Wewoka. Davidson was a member of the University Baptist Church.
She lived in Wewoka until 1946 when she moved to Shawnee. She worked for Wewoka Hospital and Magnolia Petroleum Co. for 13 years.
Davidson was personal secretary to the vice president and comptroller of Jonco Corporation. She was one of the last two employees.
She also was a secretary at the Richard N. Steed Law firm for 16 years. She retired in 1983.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Jerry Lynn Davidson in 1989; two brothers; and four sisters.
Survivors include husband, Avery Clifton Davidson, Shawnee; daughter, Beverly Gail Jones, Duncan; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Stephanie and Charles Baisey; two great-granddaughters, Laura Brooke Allen and Julia Renee Allen, Edmond; sisters-in-law, Ruby Peck, Tulsa, Virginia Davidson, Tulsa, Betty Black, Shawnee, and Marie Black, Roosevelt; and number of nieces and nephews and cousins.
Funeral services
will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Tracy Wilson, pastor of the First Christian Church, Duncan, officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park, under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel. The casket will remain open until the time of the service and will not be opened after.
Mildred Vanlandingham
Mildred Vanlandingham of Tecumseh died Monday. She was 87.
Funeral services
will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Broadway United Methodist Church, Tecumseh, with the Rev. Beryl Kingsbury and the Rev. Will Bentley officiating. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.
Further arrangements are pending and will be announced by Cooper Funeral Home.
Jessie W. Cozart
Tecumseh resident Jessie W. Cozart died Saturday in a Tecumseh nursing home. He was 92.
Cozart was born Sept. 21, 1907, in Dale, to Hubbard and Unie Cozart.
He grew up in Dale and worked as a maintenance worker for Dale Public Schools. He also was a farmer.
He married Odell Dossey in November 1934 in Stratford. She preceded him in death on Jan. 25, 1979.
He was a member of the Dale Church of Christ.
Cozart had lived in Tecumseh for the past eight years.
He also was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Cozart; and a sister, Verda Manthe.
Survivors include his nephew, Terry Brown, Tecumseh; sister-in-law, Mary Cozart Betz, Benton Harbor, Mich.; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Dale Church of Christ with Dewayne Thomas officiating.
Burial will be in Dale Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel, Shawnee.
Lavon Ward
Lavon Ward died Sunday in Stroud. He was 63.
He was born Oct. 6, 1936, in Stroud. He was the son of William F. and Nellie M. (White) Ward.
He was a resident of Stroud all of his life and was affiliated with the First Baptist Church in Stroud. He worked for Cecil Ford Motor for 20 years in Stroud.
Ward also owned and operated his own garage and wrecker services for many years and worked for the city of Stroud, where he was a maintenance supervisor since March 1986. He retired for the Stroud Fire Department and Civil Defense in March 1987 after 22 years of service.
Ward was the assistant fire chief for five years and fire chief for 12 years and served on the Civil Defense for 18 years. He married Carlos Ann Mayfield in Stroud on Aug. 28, 1955.
He was preceded in death by one son, Jon, and his parents.
Survivors include wife, Carlos of the home; one daughter son-in-law, Lavonna G. and Tony Webre of Claremore; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and D. and Vicki Ward of Cleveland; one grandson, Eric Anthony Webre of Claremore; one nephew and niece-in-law, Mike and Patricia Ward of Tulsa; one niece and nephew-in-law, Christy and John Hughes of Tulsa; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services
will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Stroud with the Rev. Burl Mackey officiating. Burial will be in the Stroud Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Stroud.
Wilda M. Shepard
Former Shawnee resident Wilda M. Shepard, Norfolk, Va., died Saturday in a Norfolk, Va., hospital. She was 79.
Mrs. Shepard was born in Grandfield, to Roy Layton and May Willey Bradley.
She was married twice. Her first husband was Lt. Cmdr. W.W. Titsworth. She later married Robert P. Shepard. They were married for 45 years. Both preceded her in death.
Mrs. Shepard studied furniture design in Heidelberg, Germany, and was a member of the American Society of Interior Design.
She owned and operated Wilda's Interiors, an antique and interior design business, for 30 years in Huntsville, Ala.
She also was a design and antique consultant for the University of Alabama, Huntsville.
Mrs. Shepard was a member of First Baptist Church in Huntsville, Ala., and a former member of First Baptist Church in Shawnee.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia T. and William C. Morgan, Virginia Beach, Va.; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles Michael and Donna M. Titsworth, Annapolis, Md.; three grandchildren and and a granddaughter-in-law, Robert Glenn and Teri Titsworth, Midwest City, Michael Matthew Titsworth and Jennifer Leigh Titsworth, both of Annapolis, Md.; a sister, Sibyl L. Elliott, Midwest City; four great-grandchildren; and a niece, Wilda Lynette Haider, Roselle, Ill.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Visitation will be 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Woodlawn Funeral Home, Virginia Beach, Va. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Woodlawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Dick Baker officiating.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Selma Raley
Selma Raley died Sunday at her home in Muskogee. She was 93.
She was born Nov. 20, 1906, in Prague. She was the daughter of Friedrich and August and Anna Lina (Martin) Heinzig.
Raley had lived in Muskogee for the past eight years and was a former resident of Prague. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Prague.
She married John Raley on July 3, 1923. He preceded her in death on June 18, 1983.
She also was preceded by two daughters; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren; six brothers; five sisters; and one son-in-law, Eugene Bennett.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Emma Bennett, Shawnee, and Johnnie and Gale Hill, Muskogee; four grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services
will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Prague with the Rev. Ken Villandry officiating. Burial will follow at the Prague Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague.
David Marvin Butterfield
David Marvin Butterfield died Saturday in Oklahoma City. He was 44.
He was born May 11, 1955, in Denver, Colo. He was the son of Marvin Delet and Delores Ann (Dunn) Butterfield.
Butterfield was a service technician for Oklahoma Liquified Gas Co. in Seminole. He served in the United States Navy and married Sharen F. Quary on Jan. 18, 1980, in Shawnee.
He was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law, Lucille Miranda Quary.
Survivors include his wife, Sharen F. Butterfield of the home; two daughters, Jennifer Butterfield and Dawn Butterfield, both of the home; one brother, Bruce A. Butterfield, Denver, Colo.; one sister, Tammy Lewis, Seattle, Wash.; father and mother-in-law, Ed and Helen Quary, Prague; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Karen and Bob Adkisson, Prague; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Eddie and Tracy Quary, Prague.
Funeral services
will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Prague with Bro. Tim Emmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Prague Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague.
Marnie Boyce and Emily Boyce
Marnie Boyce, 28, and 3-year-old Emily Boyce, both of Meeker, died Saturday.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
Further arrangements will be announced by Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
Thelma Margaret Woolbright
Thelma Margaret Woolbright of Tecumseh died Saturday at a local nursing home. She was 89.
She was born Feb. 14, 1910, in Slaytonville, Okla., to Frank and Annie Sulivant. She lived most of her life in LeFlore County.
She married Luther W. Woolbright on Aug. 14, 1928. She and her husband owned and operated a general merchandise store in Howe, Okla., for many years. She was formerly a school teacher and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband in 1990, three brothers and three sisters and one great-grandchild.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, L.W. "Dub" and Mary Lynn Woolbright of Elgin; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Eddie Taylor of Shawnee; two sisters, Maye Burns of Apache and Faye Smith of Sulphur, La.; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. DeWayne Thomas officiating. Burial is at Monroe Cemetery in Monroe, Okla., at 3:30 p.m.
