Mildred Hope Rowell
Former Pryor resident Mildred Hope Rowell, Drumright, died Monday at the age of 80.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Graham Memorial Cemetery in Pryor under the direction of Key Funeral Home of Pryor. The Rev. Glenn Lewis will officiate.
She was born Sept. 26, 1918, in Alabam, Ark., the daughter of Sidney Jefferson and Mable Melrose (Denney) King. She was reared and attended school in Salina and attended Draughon's Business Institute in Tulsa and Brevard Junior College in Cocoa Beach, Fla.
She married Earl Rowell in Oilton on Sept. 8, 1951. She had worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. as an assignment officer in Tulsa and Shawnee. She lived in Wichita Falls, Texas, for 25 years before moving to Drumright eight months ago.
She was a member of Women of the Moose Lodge of Melbourne, Fla., Woodmen of the World, AARP, and Shasta Baptist Church of Wichita Falls.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband and three brothers-in-law.
Surviving are three sisters, Alice Gregory, Shawnee; Mary Allen, Tulsa; Jimmie J. Cook, Drumright; nieces and nephews, Sharon and Carey Lankford, Sanford, N.C.; Debra and Jack Wells, Douglas and Lisa Gregory, all of Oklahoma City; Beverly and Dennis Crowe, Perry; Dennis and Barbara Allen, Carrollton, Texas; Christopher and Rae Allen, Perkins, and Sidney and Tina Allen, Tulsa.
Fern Unterkircher
Okemah resident Fern Unterkircher died Sunday at a local nursing home. She was 78.
Mrs. Unterkircher was born Oct. 25, 1920, in Van Buren County, Ark., to William T. Dyer and Rosa Lee Harding Dyer. She married Glenn Dorlin "Pete" Unterkircher on Dec. 18, 1943, in Okemah.
She retired from teaching after 39 years. She had taught at Mason, Buckeye and Excelsor and for 15 years at McAlester, where she was named Teacher of the Year in 1983.
She returned to Okemah in 1995 and was a member of First Baptist Church in Hartshorne.
Survivors include her husband, Pete Unterkircher, of the home; and two nephews, Eddie Dyer, Salina, Kan.; Mack Unterkircher, Okemah.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Okemah, with the Rev. Carl Clay officiating. Burial will be in the Prague Cemetery.
The family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer Research Foundation.
Dorthea A. Gahagan
Shawnee resident Dorthea A. Gahagan died Sunday at a local nursing home. She was 81.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Ted Moore officiating.
Mrs. Gahagan was born March 26, 1917, in Milo, Okla., to James P. and Saphromia C. Alvey.
She graduated from Apache High School.
She married Clarence Gahagan in August of 1946 in Oklahoma City and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence L. Gahagan, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Dorthea Sue and the Rev. Ted Moore, Central, Mo.; two grandsons, Nicholas and Timothy Moore; and many other relatives and friends.

Catherine Cummings
Catherine Cummings, Shawnee, died Sunday in a Seminole hospital. She was 85.
She was born April 18, 1913, in Schegal, Okla., to George and Jane Foster. She attended Musson Elementary School, Chilocco Indian Boarding School, Haskell Institute in Lawrence, Kan., and Bacone College in Muskogee, where she received an associate degree.
She married David J. Cummings and was a member of the First Indian Baptist Church, a homemaker, and lived in Shawnee since 1970.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband on Dec. 6, 1992; five sisters and three brothers.
Surviving include a son, Boyd Cummings, Seminole; children from her husband's previous marriage: three sons, Richard Cummings, El Paso, Texas; Ellis Cummings, Oceanside, Calif.; and Marcus Cummings, Colonial Heights, Va.; two daughters, Dale Knapp, Richmond, Va., Ingred Tate, Chester Field, Va.; several grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday at First Indian Baptist Church. A tribal service will be Wednesday evening at the Edgar Ellis Home.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at First Indian Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Hawkins officiating. Burial is at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
Dessie Everett
Seminole resident Dessie Everett, 79, died Monday at her home.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home with Idus England officiating. Burial will be in Little Cemetery.
Mrs. Everett was born May 10, 1919, in Atwood, Okla. to Oscar M. Bishop and Maggie (Slayten) Bishop. She married E.S. "Red" Everett on March 9, 1942, in Wickes, Ark.
She was a homemaker and longtime coordinator of the Senior Citizens Center in Seminole. She was a member of the Park and Seminole Church of Christ.
Survivors include her three sons, Jim Everett, Moore; Ed Everett, Germantown, Tenn.; S.G. Everett, Seminole; two brothers, Lee Bishop, Pason, Ariz.; Mel Bishop, San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Kitty Kingsley, San Diego, Calif.; Bessie Brenner, Russell, Kan.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, on Oct. 30, 1972.
Donations may be made to Park and Seminole Church of Christ Building Fund.
Oma J. Rider
Shawnee resident Oma J. Rider died Wednesday in Memphis, Tenn. She was 76.
She was born Dec. 6, 1923, in Burns Flat to Irvin and Lila (Van Franklin) Jackson.
She married Ray Rider in April 1968 in Gainesville, Texas.
Mrs. Rider was raised in Burns Flat and graduated from Burns Flat High School, where she was an All-State basketball player her senior year.
She lived in Oklahoma City for more than 30 years before moving to Seminole County in 1974. She resided in Shawnee since 1997. She worked as a supervisor at Western Electric until retiring in 1978.
Mrs. Rider was a member of Cromwell Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Ray Rider, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Ed Farrar, Norman; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Michele Olney, Athens, Ala.; stepdaughters, Diane May, Oklahoma City, and Shirley Rider, Steamboat, Colo.; sister, Erma Youngblood, Edmond; brothers, Leslie Jackson, Stayton, Ore., Donny Jackson, Yuma, Ariz., and Carroll Jackson, Oklahoma City; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Bernice Powell; and two brothers, Eugene Jackson and Virgil Jackson.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Wilma Ledbetter, First Church of God, Stonewall, officiating. Burial will be in Little Cemetery, Seminole County, under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.
Sadie E. Smith
Oklahoma City resident Sadie E. Smith died Thursday in Oklahoma City. She was 88.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery.

Agnes Gaunt
Agnes Gaunt of Harrah died Wednesday. She was 93.
She was born Feb. 20, 1906, in Yant, Okla., to John and Mary Ann (Gilbreath) Fisher.
She married Riley Gaunt Nov. 14, 1936, in Oklahoma City.
She retired from AGEES of Oklahoma City. She also worked at Flowerland Florist and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Norma and L.D. Snow, Nicoma Park, and Mary and Leslie Smith, Tecumseh; sisters, Julia Johnson, Harrah, Sarah Moore, Harrah Nursing Center, and Georgia Spencer, Wilson; brother, John Fisher, Meeker; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nephews, nieces, other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Robert "Junior;" and her parents.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Asa Smith Funeral Chapel in Harrah. Burial will be at Jameison Cemetery northeast of Harrah.
Cleo Pierce Moore
Cleo Pierce Moore of Tecumseh died Thursday in Tecumseh. She was 88.
Graveside services
will be 10 a.m. Monday at Tecumseh Cemetery.
Other information is pending and will be announced by Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.
Dorothy Mae Ridings
Seminole resident Dorothy Mae "Mickie" Ridings died Wednesday in Seminole. She was 70.
She was born April 22, 1929, in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, to Allen Taylor and Goldie (Hunt) Taylor.
She married Melvin Clifford Ridings July 9, 1949, in Chicago, Ill. He preceded her in death.
She was a Baptist. She moved to Seminole seven years ago from Knoxville, Tenn. Prior to that, she lived in Oaklawn, Ill.
Survivors include her child, Rick Ridings, Seminole; brother, Raymond Hall, Heath, Ohio; and sister, Ruth Hagren, Mt. Vernon, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Bob Ridings on May 18, 1976.
Graveside services
will be 1 p.m. Monday at Mt. Hope in Blue Island, Ill., under the direction of Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, Oaklawn, Ill. Visitation will be 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Clarence Wayne Garrison
Shawnee resident Clarence Wayne Garrison died Wednesday at a local hospital after a long fight with liver disease. He was 47.
He was born Aug. 30, 1952, in Seminole to J.L. and Mary Lou Garrison.
He married Robin Chisholm May 25, 1975, in Gainsville, Texas.
Garrison attended Seminole Junior College while working for Shawnee Milling Co. He worked for General Motors in Oklahoma City for 20 years. He was a member of the UAW local 1999 in Oklahoma City.
He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam from 1970 to 1973.
He was raised in Wewoka and lived in Shawnee since 1973. He moved to Shawnee after receiving an honorable discharge from the Army.
He was preceded in death by his father, J.L. Garrison, and grandparents, J.A. and Minta Garrison and Clarence and Beulah Owens.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Lou Davis, Wewoka; wife, Robin Garrison, of the home; son, Justin Wayne Garrison, of the home; daughters and son-in-law, Alissa Garrison, of the home, and Starla and Michael Norwood, Oklahoma City; three grandchildren; five sisters and their families, Marva and Dwain Webb, Burns Flat, Lisa and Richard Findlay, Oklahoma City, Linda and David Brown, Shawnee, Debbie Zachary, Daytona, Fla., and Theresa Garrison Jacobs, Moore; brother, David Chance, Shawnee; and other family members.

will be 11 a.m. Friday at Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Dan Factor officiating under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
