Tena C. Rubac

Lifelong Prague resident Tena C. Rubac died Tuesday in Prague. She was 91.

Mrs. Rubac was born Sept. 23, 1907, near Prague to Mikolas and Aloisie (Kudrna) Muzny. She married James Rudolph "Jim" Rubac on Dec. 22, 1926, in Oklahoma City.

She was a homemaker, a member of the Catholic Church and a member of the ZCBJ Lodge No. 46 in Prague.

Survivors include her grandson and his wife, Brad and Terrie Rubac, Minco; two great-grandchildren, Bud Rumley and Guin Rubac; and several nieces and nephews, including, Lorraine Sykora, Prague; and Bessie Walters, Edmond.

She was preceded in death by her husband, on March 24, 1996; her parents; five sisters; her son, Jimmie Dee Rubac; and one grandson, Jimmie Rubac.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Prague, with Rev. Chuck Dollarhide of Minco officiating. Burial will follow in the Czech National Cemetery.

Mary Agness Burnside

Lifelong Prague resident Mary Agness Burnside died Tuesday in Prague. She was 90.

Mrs. Burnside was born Sept. 15, 1908, in Prague to Jake and Anna (Kasmir) Simek. She married Luther Roy Burnside, who preceded her in death Sept. 14, 1960.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Prague.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Irene and Charles Lacey, Choctaw; LaVonne and Pete Tull, Prague; Lilly Anne and Jim Minick, Oklahoma City; one brother, Tony Simek, Prague; five grandchildren, Beverly Mumford, Gary Minick, Mike Tull, Randy Tull and Pam Norwood; and two great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Prague Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Prague, with the Rev. Jim Powell officiating.

Thomas C. Lewis

Thomas C. "Tom" Lewis, 90, Shawnee, died Monday.

He was born Dec. 12, 1908, to Ema and Victor Green Lewis in Branch, Ark.

He and Jessie Faye Lewis were married for 69 years and he retired from Mobil Pipeline Co. after 35 years.

He was a member of the Church of Christ for 28 years.

He was preceded in death by his son, Wayne Edwin, who was reported missing in action in 1952; his parents; four brothers, Guy, John, Sam and Troy, and three sisters, Jane Williams, Lillian Lewis and Pauline Lewis.

He is survived by his wife, Jessie Faye; sons and daughters-in-law, Jim Earl and Angela, Perry and Karen; sisters, Mildred McDevitt, Reba Morris, Helen Spier, Ema Jones; 10 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many other relatives.

Services will be 1 p.m. today at Central Church of Christ with Dwayne Dennis and Don Sullivan officiating. Burial will be at Wetumka Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Hurshel H. Goss

Lifelong Maud area resident Hurshel H. Goss died Monday in a Shawnee hospital at the age of 90.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Maud, with the Rev. Jim Kirkendall officiating. Burial will be at Cummings Cemetery of Maud under the direction of Knight Funeral Home.

He was born June 2, 1908, in Asher to William Newton Goss and Virginia Maud (McClure) Goss. He married Crystal Van Meter on March 6, 1926, in Okmulgee and was owner and operator of Goss Dry Goods in Maud for 35 years.

He was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church of Maud where he served for many years as head usher, a member of Maud Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club and was a 32nd degree Mason. He also was involved in the opening of Citizens State Bank.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Crystal Goss, in 1995; one son, Bill Goss; one grandson, Van Goss; his parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Kay D. and Darlene Goss, Maud; grandchildren and their spouses, Steve and Terrie Goss, Nancy and Paul Lucy, all of Maud; David and Angie Goss, Norman; Rodger and Tiffany Goss, Oklahoma City; Greg and Joanie Goss, Spiro, and eight great-grandchildren.

Chester Louis Lacquement Sr.

Chester Louis Lacquement Sr. died Monday at his home southwest of Okemah. He was 75.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Okemah. Burial will be at Prague Cemetery.

Chester Louis Lacquement Sr. was born June 22, 1923, in Prague, the son of the Rev. Emil and Cora Peck Lacquement. He married Blanche Stewart on Nov. 28, 1942.

He was a veteran of World War II and was retired from Tinker Air Force Base where he had been a jet engine tester. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Prague Church of God. He had been a resident of Okfuskee County for 37 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Duston Rex Lacquement, Frankie Levi Lacquement; one daughter, Cora Ann Lacquement; two brothers, Clarence Lacquement, Joseph Lacquement, and three sisters, Grace Ellison, Ruth Whitworth and Ethel McKee.

Survivors include his wife, Blanche Lacquement, of the home; seven sons, Chester Louis Lacquement Jr., Oklahoma City; Emil Justice Lacquement, Macomb; Mark Dee Lacquement, Pauls Valley; Wayne Lloyd Lacquement, Oklahoma; James Earnest Lacquement, Hoffmann; Robert Stuart Lacquement, Houston, Texas; Otto Rene Lacquement, Fittstown; seven daughters, Roberta JoAnn Childress, Patricia Alice McClure, both of Okemah; Kathleen Elaine Bleeker, Blackwell; Phyllis Blanche Minor, Rosie Marie Boyd, both of Decatur, Ala.; Evelene Marilyn Lacquement, Florence Sue Lacquement, both of the home, 26 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Sharon D. McKey

Lifelong area resident Sharon D. McKey, Tecumseh, died Monday at the age of 56.

She was born Sept. 2, 1942, in Shawnee and was a 1960 graduate of Shawnee High School. She married M.L. "Doc" McKey in Shawnee on June 21, 1960. She was in medical transcription at Tinker Air Force Base before retiring in 1996. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and played the piano.

Preceding her in death were her daughter, Shari Dee McKey; grandparents, L.L. and Gertrude Hoover; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Anna Evelyn and M.R. McKey; brother-in-law, Robert McKey; sister-in-law, Mildred Ellis, and niece, Tammie Schafer.

Surviving are her husband, Marion "Doc" McKey, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Shanin and Charles Daron, Norman; son and his girlfriend, M. Lance McKey and Lindsay Crow, Shawnee; son and daughter-in-law, M. Lee Jr. and Jo Ann McKey, Shawnee; granddaughters, Tarynne McKey, Kortney McKey, Laura McKey, all of Shawnee, and stepmother-in-law, Ora Mae Harris, Shawnee.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Chapel in Tecumseh with burial at New Hope Cemetery. Delbert Akin, Roger Odegard and John Mixon will officiate. Memorials may be made to New Hope Baptist Church building fund.

Othle E. Massey

Othle E. Massey, 92, Shawnee, died Monday in a local nursing home.

He was born May 1, 1906, in Sparks to George Franklin and Mary Drucilla (Sorrels) Massey. He married Estelle A. Johnson on April 13, 1927, in Chandler.

He moved to the Shawnee area in 1942. He was a retired mechanic who had worked at Tinker Air Force Base and a member of the First Assembly of God Church.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Garland E. and Marcene Massey, Shawnee; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Maxine Wiley, Tecumseh; Lola and Gene Pickens, Shawnee; and Honnah and John Myers, Shawnee; sister Frances Massey, Shawnee; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and sister, Margery Massey.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. James Walter officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Barbara French Johnson

Shawnee resident Barbara French Johnson died Saturday at a local hospital. She was 56.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with Charles Massoth, O.S.B. officiating.

Mrs. Johnson was born July 14, 1942, in Shawnee to Jimmy French and Dorothy (Brown) Yoder. She graduated from Shawnee High School and Northeastern State College.

She was co-founder of the Native American Coalition Head Start Program in Tulsa. While serving as the Indian Community Resource advisor to the Tulsa Public Schools, she was appointed by Gov. George Nigh to the Oklahoma State Board of Education and the State Vocational Education Board.

She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church.

Survivors include her mother, Dorothy Yoder, Shawnee; sister, Lynda Stone, Shawnee; husband, Robert Johnson, Tulsa; son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Cheri Johnson, Tulsa; son, Chris Johnson, Tulsa; granddaughter, Megan Johnson, Tulsa; grandson, C.J. Johnson, Tulsa; niece and nephew, Stephanie and Zachary Woodard, Oklahoma City; great-niece, Mary Woodard, Oklahoma City.

Thelma Henrietta Lankford Iglehart

Former Shawnee resident Thelma Henrietta "Retta" Lankford Iglehart died Thursday in a Midland, Texas, hospital. She was 93.

She was born Oct. 11, 1905, in Cleburne, Texas, and married Conway W. Iglehart on July 14, 1966, in Tulsa. She had lived in Odessa, Texas, for 33 years where she was a member of Midessa Heights Baptist Church.

She had been a member of First Baptist Church of Altus and University Baptist Church of Shawnee.

Preceding her in death were her husband, C.W. Iglehart, in 1973; brothers, Bailey Lankford and Spencer Lankford, and sister, Jewel Mae Wade.

Survivors include her nieces, Moleta King, Owasso; Mary Sue Zimmerman, Alpharetta, Ga.; Margaret Lankford, Tulsa; nephews, Jerry Lankford, Del City; great-nieces and great-nephews, Elizabeth Zimmerman Paulk, John Mark Zimmerman, Michelle King Ray, Megan King Dunham; sisters-in-law, Stattie Rice, Audrey Lytle, and special friends, Johnny and Oleeta Hyden.

Services were Saturday at Midessa Heights Baptist Church, Odessa, with burial at Colorado City, Texas, Cemetery under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home of Odessa. The Rev. Jim Sellers officiated.

Theresa (Buscema) Benardello

Former Seminole resident Theresa (Buscema) Benardello, Midwest City, died Saturday in an Oklahoma City hospital. She was 98.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole. The Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate.

She was born March 30, 1900, in Vittoria, Italy, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Buscema.

She married Joseph Benardello and was a homemaker. Her husband of 60 years preceded her in death in 1980.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Jennie Benardello, Midwest City; sister, Concetta Testa, Palm Harbor, Fla.; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, John Robert and Kristy Benardello, Midwest City; great-grandchildren, John Michael and Kourtney, Midwest City, and friend, Letha King, Bowlegs.

Russell F. Hudson Sr.

Tecumseh resident Russell F. Hudson Sr. died Saturday in Oklahoma City at the age of 60.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel in Tecumseh with the Rev. Clint Dawkins officiating. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery.

He was born July 11, 1938, in Inglis, Fla., the son of Izella Parmer and was reared in Florida. He married DeLois McKiddy in Fort Worth, Texas, on June 13, 1955, and they lived in California for 20 years. He moved to Tecumseh in 1978 and has worked on the family farm and ranch.

Surviving are his wife, DeLois Hudson, of the home; son, Russell Franklin Hudson Jr., Memphis, Tenn.; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey Alan and Danielle Hudson, Ontario, Calif.; grandchildren, Elizabeth Hudson, of the home; Robin Curley, West Memphis, Ark.; Trey Hudson, Memphis, Tenn.; Kelsey and Tyler Hudson, Ontario, Calif.; one great-granddaughter, Riley Hudson O'Dell of the home; his mother, Izella Parmer, Holder, Fla.; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Mary Parmer, Parkersville, W.V.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathy and Peck Wells, Lori and Jerry Billups, all of Holder, Fla.; stepmother-in-law, Lois McKiddy, Shawnee, and many other relatives.

Ellen Fern (Tyner) Wapp

Ellen Fern (Tyner) Wapp, Shawnee, died Saturday. She was 84.

Mrs. Wapp was born Nov. 22, 1914, in Shawnee to Davis and Sallie (Hood) Tyner.

She graduated from Shawnee High School, Haskell Indian Junior College and Oklahoma State University.

She married Farris Wapp on Feb. 17, 1951. She was a dietitian for Indian Health Services for 17 years and Shawnee Regional Hospital for 10 years, retiring in 1978.

She served in the U.S. Army as a dietitian, was a member of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe, the Elders Council, Mission Hill Indian Church and was active in the Haskell Alumni Association. She lived here all her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.

Surviving include a son, Frank Wapp of Wichita, Kan.; a brother, Wallace Tyner, Shawnee; two sisters, Eleanor Crossley, Tecumseh; and Muriel Gene Parker, Tecumseh; two grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services are 10 a.m. today at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with Norman Kiker, Ellis Rollette and Johnny Mann officiating. Burial is at Tecumseh Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
