Wilma H. Sanders
Wilma H. Sanders, also known to her family as "Aunt Sis", longtime Stroud resident, passed away on Sunday morning, June 9, 2002 at her residence at the age of 87 years.
The daughter of the late Albert W. Satterfield and Edna L. Keeler Satterfield, Wilma was born on September 18, 1914 in Stroud, OK and was reared and educated in that area. She later attended Hills Business College in Oklahoma City.
She was united in marriage to George G. Sanders on February 1, 1945 in Amarillo, TX and he preceded her in death on April 1, 1985. The coup., had no children.
She attended the Community Christian Center in Stroud and enjoyed volunteering for the Salvation Army. Her family and friends will miss her chicken and noodles that was her specialty.
Survivors include nieces and nephews, Bob Satterfield and his wife Marla of Yukon, OK, Chris Satterfield and his wife Malisa of Cedar Park, TX, Jerry Satterfield and his wife Carol of Danville, Arkansas, Kevin Chapman and his wife Hope of Vacaville, CA, Beverly Willingham and her husband Terry of Cushing, Patti Hollister and her husband Merv of Cathey Valley, CA, and Kathy Koen and her husband Steve of Drummond, OK; special friends and caregivers, Ruth Hodge, Doris Hudson and Terry and Sally Holmes, and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, two brothers, Kenneth Satterfield and Wayne Dean Satterfield and one special friend, Ben Sanders, preceded her in death.
Funeral services
will be held on Tuesday morning, June I 1 9 2002 at 10:00 A.M. in the Memorial Chapel of the Davis Funeral Home with Randy Ethridge officiating.
Mrs. Marion Smith, pianist, will provide the prelude and postlude and will accompany Beverly Willingham, soloist, as she will sing "How Great Thou Art".
Burial will follow in the Stroud Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home.
Virgil Andrew Jordan
Virgil Andrew Jordan was born Sept. 12, 1909 in Chandler and died Monday, Aug. 26 in Stroud at the age of 92 years, 11 months and 4 days.
Virgil was the son of Jessie Andrew and Maude Lee (Harris) Jordan. He married Augusta Mae Teters, Aug. 29, 1934 in Davenport. Virgil worked as a truck driver and a farmer. He was a member of the Deer Creek Baptist Church.
His parents; wife, Augusta; five brothers: Warren, James, Cleo, Roxie and Floyd; and one daughter: Judy Robnett preceded him in death.
Survivors include: Two sons and daughters-in-law: Otho and Esperanza "Hope" Jordan, of San Antonio, Tex; Larry and Maxine Jordan of Stroud; One daughter and two sons-in-law: Dolores and Harold Lane, of Visalia, Calif., and Harold Robnett of Cushing; One sister: Bonnie Spitler of Mansfield, Missouri; Two sisters-in-law: Ruth Jordan of Stroud, and Addie Simek of Stroud; 21 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services
will be held Thursday, Aug. 29 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Stroud with Rev. Jim Bierd officiating. Virgil's grandsons: Larry W. Jordan, Eddie Jordan, James Jordan, Bobby Jordan, Jeff Harrison and Chuck Harrison will serve as casket bearers. Burial will follow in the Stroud Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud.
Nola Ann Houtz
Nola Ann Houtz, a longtime Cushing resident, died on Saturday, January 11, 2003 in the Linwood Village Nursing Home, Cushing, at the age of 93 years.
The daughter of the late George Barnett and Berla Ella (McDaniel) Barnett, Nola was born Dec. 18, 1909 near Stroud. She was reared and educated in the Stroud area.
Nola was united in marriage to Glen Houtz.
She is survived by five sisters, Dorothy Brodersen of Alhambra, Calif., Loraine Bass of Thoreau, New Mexico, Goldie Taviana of Shawnee, Kansas, Eunice Michalski of St. Joseph, Missouri, and Darlene Presley of Tulsa, Okla.; two brothers, James Barnett of Cushing and Bobby Barnett of Oklahoma City; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, her husband Glen, three brothers, Doyle Barnett, Jesse Barnett, and George Barnett, and two sisters, Marie Handing and Mable Stringer preceded Nola in death.
Graveside services
will be held at 2 P.M., Jan. 14, 2003 in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Cushing with Bob Vaught officiating.
Services are under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home, Cushing, OK.
Rose Ellen Blackburn
Rose Ellen Blackburn, originally of Pryor, Okla., died Thursday, Apr. 17 at Muldrow Nursing Home in Sequoyah County, Okla. at the age of 82. Rose was born July 20, 1920 to George William and Cara Mae (Harp) Anderson. She was married to Lewis E. Blackburn in Stillwater Aug. 22, 1940. Rose was employed at Tyson in Springdale, Ark. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband in 1998. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Zoella and Dwight Rogers of Akins, Okla., a son and daughter-in-law, Lewis Marion and Mary Blackburn of Enid, six grandchildren; Rose Ann Akerman, Pryor, Scottie and Anthony Blackburn, Enid, Wade Blackburn, St. Louis, Mo., Timara Falleur, Sallisaw, and Jason Rogers of Oklahoma City; 12 great-grandchildren, and two brothers; Charles Anderson of Grove, Okla., and William Earl Anderson of Cushing.
Services were held at Sallisaw City Cemetery Gazebo in Sallisaw, Okla., Apr. 19 at 10 a.m. under the direction of Agent Funeral Home. Officiating were Rev. Harold McKeehen and Rev. Randy Freeman.
Peggy Louise Chappell
Peggy Louise Chappell died May 28, 2003 in Long Beach, Calif. She was married to William Bryant, both of whom were former residents of Cushing. She is survived by her husband, three sons; Jon, Paul, and Richard, and four grandchildren.
Etha C. Snodgrass
Etha C. "Sue" (McGehee) Snodgrass, of Shawnee died at the age of 67, Wednesday, June 19 at Norman Regional Hospital. Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel, 100 W. Strothers in Seminole, with Delton Tollett presiding. Internment will be at 2:00 p.m. at White Chimney Cemetery in Stuart.
She was born in Cabiness, Okla. on April 26 1935, to Malcolm and Josie Irene (Watkins) McGehee.
She married Carl Henry Snodgrass on May 12, 1951, in Stuart.
She was a member of the United Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of the Konawa Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, 1 infant sister, and 1 infant grandson.
Survivors include one son, Thomas Snodgrass of San Diego, Calif., one daughter, Hazel Hull of Meeker, three sisters, Beverly Evans of Perkins, Earlene Cole of San Antonio, Tex., and Doralee Hickerson of Stuart, Okla. Also, Five grandchildren, Angela Brown of Chicago, David Hull of Virginia, Donald Snodgrass of New Jersey, Lora Hull of Meeker, and James Snodgrass of San Diego, Calif, and seven great-grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Sandra Elaine Ratliff
Sandra Elaine Ratliff, 44, of Marceline, Missouri died Monday, Aug. 26 as the result of a car accident on 36 Highway east of Bucklin. Sandra was born in Decatur, Ill. Jan. 14, 1958 to Charles "Hoppy" Freemond and Joretta (Adams) Ratliff.
Sandra had worked at Sunbeam in Neosheo, Pershing Regional Health Center in Marceline as a dietary aid, and had worked with handicapped children. She was a graduate of Crowder College at Neosheo, and had lived in Marceline for 2-1/2 years coming from Neosheo.
She is survived by her son, Kurtis Ratliff of the home; father, Charles of Marceline; brother, Wayne Ratliff and his wife Mary Ann of Marceline; two sisters, Anita Franklin of Cushing and Vickie Hatfield of Marceline.
Also surviving are four nieces and four nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, grandparents, infant nephew, several aunts, uncles, and a brother-in-law.
Funeral services
will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at Delaney Funeral Home in Marceline with Mr. James Farris officiating.
Burial will be in Hominy, Okla. at a later date. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug. 27 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home in Marceline.
The family suggests memorials to the Kurtis Ratliff College Fund and these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, 1720 N. Missouri Ave. Marceline, Missouri 64658.
Ira Denson Greenfield
Ira Denson Greenfield passed away June 23, 2003 in Tryon at the age of 69 years. Funeral services
will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 26 at the Parkland Church of the First Born in Parkland, Okla. Burial will follow at the Parkland Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.
Johnnie Rellon Pack
Graveside services
for former Cushing resident Johnnie Pack, 74, of Bristow will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002 at the Harrell Cemetery East of Cushing on Ninth Street.
Serving, as pallbearers will be Richard Ward, Michael Ward, Gerald Robison, Bob Ward, Richard Lombard, Gary Ashlock and Virgil Smith.
Services will be under the direction of the Palmer Funeral Home of Cushing.
Born Apr. 10, 1928 in Cushing to Carl and Essie (Wells) Pack. He received his early education in Cushing. He was married to Darlene (Goldman) July 9, 1954 in Carson City, Nev. They lived in Modesto, Calif. prior to moving to Bristow, in 1990.
Mr. Pack died on Monday, Aug. 26, 2002 at the St. John's Hospital in Tulsa.
Survivors include, wife Darlene of the home; 2 sons Carl Pack of Bristow and Johnnie Rellon Pack, Jr. of Gridley, Calif.; 5 daughters Pat Phillips of Orville, Calif., Shirleen Latham of Biggs, Calif., Glenda Hatch of Hanford, Calif., Tawana Ward of Mannford, OK., and Charlotte Dehart of Modesto, Calif.; 1 brother Charlie Pack of Live Oak, Calif.; 1 sister Cecil Baker of Sacramento, Calif. 15 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Mr. Pack was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son Lonnie Pack and by 1 brother Jimmie Pack.
Joel Jackson Morton
Funeral services
for Joel Jackson Morton, 79, of Cushing will be held at 2 p.m. Monday Nov. 11, at the Palmer Funeral Home Chapel in Cushing. Rev. Donna Morton will preside. Interment
will follow at the Harrell Cemetery on East Ninth Street in Cushing. Funeral services
will be under the direction of the Palmer Funeral Home of Cushing.
Born March 9, 1923 in Sparks, Oklahoma to Jule and Lizzie (Duffy) Morton. He lived all of his life in the Cushing area. Mr. Morton worked in the oilfields. He loved to Coon Hunt and to garden.
Mr. Morton was a Veteran of WW II and served in the Navy.
Mr. Morton died Wednesday Nov. 6, at his home south of Cushing.
Survivors include one son Joel Jason Morton of Guthrie; one daughter Sonya Morton Magness of Broken Arrow; five brothers George of Skiatook, Jim of Tewksberry, Mass., Lee and Gene both of Chandler and Franklin of Agra; three sisters Ruth Correales of E. Boston, Mass., Margie Hixon of Cushing and Phyllis Colvin of Edmond; two granddaughters Cheryl Renee Sosbee of Edmond and Leslie Michelle Sosbee of Norman; one great granddaughter Cheyenne.
Mr. Morton was preceded in death by his parents and by one sister Margaret Savino.
