Herschel Lee Mitchell
Herschel Lee Mitchell, 49, of Ada died Saturday at an Ada hospital.
He was born April 7, 1953, in Shawnee, the son of Marshall L. and Susie (Fixico) Mitchell.
Mitchell attended Harjo and Pleasant Grove schools in Seminole. He was an licensed practical nurse and worked at various hospitals.
He married Maxine Brown on Oct. 10, 1975.
He served in the U.S. Army as a marksman and hand grenade expert.
Mitchell was a member of the Snake Creek Baptist Church and a past commander of the Seminole Nation Honor Color Guard and of the Gar Creek stomp ground.
He was a former Shawnee resident, having lived here until spending the past seven years living in Ada.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Brian Mitchell.
Survivors include his wife, Kelly Lunsford, of the home; eight children, Prairie Jean Mitchell of the home and Carrie Mitchell, Kristi Mitchell, Kendra Mitchell, Herschel Mitchell Jr., Kevin Mitchell, Morgan Mitchell and Marcus Mitchell; a brother, Barney Mitchell; a sister, Wizy Mitchell; two half-sisters, Katherine Deer and Rosey JoAnne Mitchell; an uncle, John Fixico; two aunts, Virginia Fixico and Paulene Butler; and three grandchildren.
A wake service was held Monday evening. A funeral service will be 10 a.m. today at Resthaven Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. John Fixico and the Rev. Chad Smith officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.
Arrangements are being handled by Resthaven Funeral Home.
Loyd Barnett
Loyd Barnett, 79, of Tecumseh died Monday.
He was born April 14, 1923, in Tecumseh, to Lee and Ella (Hollenbeck) Barnett.
Barnett attended school at Willow View.
He was a heavy-equipment operator for 38 years and owned Barnett Dozer Service.
He was a member of the OK Full Gospel Church.
Barnett was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lila and Fred Isenhower and Lois and Virgil Thomas; a brother, Acie Barnett; and a son, Jim Barnett.
He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Juanita and Ray Hascall, Marquetta and Jerry Killgore and Valerie and Derrell Fowler, all of Tecumseh; a son, Ron Barnett of Tecumseh; a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Evadean Barnett of Tecumseh; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Evangelistic Center Church with the Rev. Mark McIntosh and the Rev. Robert Rider officiating. Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
Joseph D. Phelps
Joseph D. Phelps, 67, Perry, died Friday in Perry.
He was born Aug. 28, 1934, in Cogar, Okla., to Clarence C. and Roxie Shook Phelps.
Phelps graduated from Binger High School and worked as a mail carrier. He was a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association. He was baptized in 1949.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-and-law, Tracy and Jerry Robertson, Perry; Tammy and Mike Westbrook, Binger; and Sherry and Jerry Lankford, Shawnee; four grandchildren, Heather Westbrook, Oklahoma City; Chisum Westbrook, Binger; John Dowling and his wife Janie, Edmond; Tyler Nida, Perry; a great-grandchild, Caleb Herrera, Edmond; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward and Jean Phelps, Oklahoma City; Jesse and Yvonne Phelps, Cogar, and Charles Phelps, Anadarko; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy Alice and George Kerlick, Clariece and Ray Mills, all of Cogar, and Idella and Dave Cline, North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mazie Phelps, in May 1996, his parents and one brother, Athel Phelps.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Cogar United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ron Weathers officiating. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home of Perry.
Memorials may be made to charity of the donor's choice or Perry Ministerial Alliance.
J.C. Bonard Jr.
J.C. "Jay" Bonard Jr., 48, of Midwest City died Thursday in an Oklahoma City hospital.
He was born Feb. 7, 1954, in Shawnee, the son of J.C. "Jake" and Geraldine (Sikes) Bonard.
Bonard graduated form Shawnee High School. He owned Jay's Painting Company and served in the U.S. Army from 1973 to 1977.
He was a member of Victory Christian Fellowship and lived in Shawnee most of his life.
He is survived by his mother, Geraldine Goss of Checotah; his wife, Sharon Bonard of Oklahoma City; his daughter. Aimee Dumas of Edmond; a son, Jayson Bonard of Oklahoma City; a sister and brother-in-law, Terry Ann and Mark Moses of Port Orchard, Wash.; three grandchildren, Austin, Kalen and Brycen, all of Edmond; and a niece, Sherry Barnard of Midwest City.
A service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bill Matthews and the Rev. Phil Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
Minnie Martin
Minnie Martin, 86, died Thursday in Oklahoma City.
Survivors include three sons, Allen Martin of Bethany, Lee Martin of Perkins and James Martin Jr. of Chandler; five daughters, Ethel Glander of Oklahoma City, Beth Herndon of Stillwater, Anne Kinder of Carney, Betty Parker of Hurst, Ill. and Kay West of Stockport, Ohio; a sister, Margaret Strunk of Kingman, Ariz.; 28 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; other relatives; and many friends.
A service will be 10 a.m. today at the Parks Brothers Funeral Service chapel, Chandler, with the Rev. Davies Vanpool officiating.
Burial will follow at the Osage Cemetery in Agra.
Floyd Arley Wallgren
Macomb resident Floyd Arley "Big John" Wallgren, 80, died Sunday in Shawnee.
Funeral services
will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Pentecostal Lighthouse.

Dorris Aurelia Browder
Dorris Aurelia Browder, 84, of Asher died Tuesday in Clovis, Calif.
She was born July 27, 1917, in Hot Springs, Ark., the daughter of Fletcher and Pearl McCellum.
In 1934, she married Jesse Browder in Asher. He preceded her in death.
She also was preceded by her parents.
Dorris spent most of her life in the Asher area. She attended school at Asher, served on the Asher City Council and was a longtime member of the Asher First Baptist Church.
She was active in community projects, such as Operation Christmas and the preservation of Asher's history.
Survivors include many friends.
Graveside services
were Saturday at Vista Cemetery near Asher, with Pastor Dallas "Red" Barnes delivering the eulogy.
Melvin Clinton Spencer
Melvin Clinton Spencer, 78, Choctaw, died Saturday.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Spencer, of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Bettie Loudenslager of Harrah, Jeff and Barbara Jean Pulse of Hoyt and Melba Kay Spencer of Choctaw; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Marla Spencer, Harrah; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Leo and Dorothy Spencer, Choctaw, and Glen and Ione Spencer, West Siloam Springs, Ark.; a sister, Glea Rather, Westville, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Asa Smith Memorial Chapel. Burial follows in Memory Lane Cemetery.
Natalie Patricia Smith
Natalie Patricia Smith, 88, died Saturday in Stafford, Kan.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Ellen Smith of Okemah, Larrry and Euna Smith of Tulsa and Marc and Marilyn Smith of Okemah; a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Richard Foster of Stafford, Kan.; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; and three sisters-in-law, Inez Hall, Clara Belle Coale and Inola Birdwell, all of Okemah.
Services were held Monday in Okemah under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Okemah.

George Cleve Harrington, 75, McLoud, died Friday.
Survivors include his wife Ethel Harrington, of the home, four daughters and sons-in-law, Richard and Patsy Blemmel, McLoud; Bobby and Genevieve Williams, Yukon, Kenneth and Shirley Bailey, McLoud, Bernie and Kathern Freeman, McLoud; a son Kenneth Harrington, Oklahoma City; a daughter-in-law, Judy Harrington, Midwest City; mother-in-law Harriet Ledbetter, McLoud; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 10 step-great grandchildren and one step-great-great-grandchild.
Services were 2 p.m. Monday at Emmanuel Baptist Church, McLoud, with the Rev. Donnie Bond and the Rev. Leroy Rice officiating. Burial followed in Sunny Lane Cemetery, Del City.
Lee Roy Berry
Lee Roy Berry died Friday at his home in Elk City. He was 75.
Berry was born Sept. 17, 1923, in Slick, Okla., to L.L. Berry and Ida Belle Benton Berry. He was a Navy veteran and served in the Pacific. He was retired from the oil field and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Elk City. He lived in Okfuskee County before moving to Elk City.
Survivors include his brother, D.E. Berry, Moore; sister, Helen Cox, Okemah; nephew, Robert Cox, Okemah; two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; and daughter, Joan Berry.
Graveside services
were held 2 p.m. Monday at the Schoolton Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah, with Rev. Carl Clay officiating.
Frank Mills
Frank Mills, 76, died Saturday in Tryon, Okla.
He was born Dec. 11, 1922, in Jennings, Okla., to Victor and Rebecca (Huff) Mills. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked in the elevator maintenance business for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Heart of Oklahoma Limousin Cattle Association and National Elevator Industry Association. He married Maxine Campbell in El Reno, Okla., on Oct. 16, 1952.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, two sisters, and a daughter.
He is survived by his wife of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Paul Davis, Wellston, Joyce and John Wait, Johnson, Kan., and Janice and Richard White, Oklahoma City; one brother, Forrest Mills of Stillwater; and two sisters, Lulu Mae Nix, Sand Springs, Okla., and Elnora Moore of Oklahoma City.
Viewing will be at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Wellston. Graveside services
will be 2 p.m. today at Wellston Cemetery with the Rev. Thom Chappelle officiating. Burial will be in Wellston Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Chandler.
