James William Spears
James William Spears, 70, of Prague died Thursday.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas Lee and DeAnn Spears of Cushing; three daughters, Joy Elizabeth Martin and Patricia Darlene Smith, both of Prague, and Shelly Renee Evans of Gainesville, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Janis Marie and Don Whitt of DeSoto, Texas; a brother, Gene Spears of Alerton, Ill.; 16 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and many relatives and friends.
A service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Prague, with Idus England and Palmer Smith officiating. Burial will be in Prague Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Parks Brothers Funeral Service.
Clara Marie Lewis
Clara Marie Lewis, 96, Ft. Smith, Ark., died Saturday in Fort Smith, Ark.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.
Hershel Q. Ring Sr.
Shawnee resident Hershel Q. Ring Sr., 61, died Wednesday at a local hospital.
He was born Dec. 11, 1940, in Seminole, the son of Truman and Lenora (Dotson) Ring.
Ring attended Seminole schools. He owned and operated H.Q. Ring Trucking.
He had lived in the Shawnee area since 1967.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his mother, Lenora Ring of Shawnee; two daughters, Teresa Hasbell and Starla Burns, both of Bowlegs; a daughter and son-in-law, Angel and Shane O'Brien of Meeker; three sons and daughters-in-law, Hershel Ring Jr. and Terri Ring, Todd and Chrystal Ring and Travis and Kristina Ring, all of Shawnee; 11 grandchildren, Bobby Hasbell Jr., William and Chance Burns, Sara and Tessa Ring, Andrew Ring, Travis Ring Jr., Courtney Ring, Kaitlyn Ring and Brianna and Brooklynn O'Brien; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Phyllis and J.P. Bennett of Harrah, Nora and Kagle Grandstaff of Seminole and Pat and John Smith of Bowlegs; a sister, Carole Blair of Eureka Springs, Ark.; and many other family members and friends.
A service will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mack Peercy officiating. Burial will be in the Little Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.
Joshua E. Nathaniel Wright
Joshua E. Nathaniel Wright of Seminole died Sunday at the age of 18.
Burial will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Bentonville, Ark., with a memorial service at 11 a.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole. The Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate.
He was born Nov. 12, 1983, in Fayetteville, Ark., the son of Ralph David Wright and Vivian Carol Campbell. He moved from Harrison, Ark., to Seminole 16 years ago.
He was a student and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
His grandmother, Joy Waterman, preceded him in death.
Surviving are his mother, Vivian Carol Campbell of Seminole; his father, Ralph David Wright, Springfield, Mo.; grandparents, John and Lela Wright, Bentonville, Ark.; Earnest Campbell, Little Rock, Ark., and two sisters, Jericka Wright and Jessica Wright of Springfield, Mo.
Richard Lee Murray
Shawnee resident Richard Lee Murray, 80, died Wednesday at an Oklahoma City hospital.
He was born Jan. 28, 1922, in Prague to John Ander and Dartney (Ray) Murray.
He attended Varnum Public Schools and married Elizabeth L. Bawcum, Oct. 1, 1950, in Oklahoma City.
He worked as a supervisor at Tinker Air Force Base.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elizabeth; one son, Stanley Murray; two brothers, Harold Dean Murray and Woodrow Murray; and a son-in-law, James Weldon.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-laws, Betty Lee Garrett and Rhonda Faye and Theodore Hill, all of Shawnee and Linda Weldon and Jim Woods of Oklahoma City; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard Ray and Maria Murray of Austin, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Philip Keith Stinnett
Philip Keith Stinnett, 75, of Norman died Tuesday.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Stinnett of Guthrie; three sons and daughters-in-laws, Chris and Connie Stinnett of Seminole, Philip and Keneta Stinnett of Florida, and Andrew and Nancy Stinnett of Florida; one daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Ed Stevey of Florida; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and other relatives and friends.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler with the Rev. David Nolen officiating, under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Chandler.
Eastman Ray Billie Wise
Eastman Ray Billie Wise, 22, of Meeker died Tuesday at University Hospital in Oklahoma City,
Survivors include his mother, Lawanna Ward of Meeker; his grandparents, Teresa and Evans Wise of Meeker; three brothers, Justin Alexander of Meeker, Joseph Billie of Foley, Ala., and Evans Wise4 Jr. of North Carolina; six sisters, Sunny Alexander of Meeker, Tina Hendrix of Oklahoma City, Alisha Valdez of Germany, Christie Youngblood of Edmond, Ashley Clayton of Oregon and Lisa Burchett of Shawnee; and other family members and friends.
A wake service will be 6:30 p.m. today at the family home in Meeker. A funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Meeker High School gymnasium. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery, Meeker.
Arrangements are being handled by Swearingen Funeral Home.
David Ray Harris
David Ray Harris, 45, of Meeker, died Tuesday at his home. Services are pending with Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
Stacy Steward
Stacy Steward, 44, of Garden City, Kan., died Saturday at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City.
Survivors include his wife Peg; two daughters, Kelsey Steward and Megan Steward, both of the home; his mother, Betty Lowrey of Alamo, Texas; and two brothers, Bruce Steward of Overland Park, Kan. and Scott Steward of Shawnee.
A vigil service was held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, with a funeral mass having been celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City with the Rev. Joseph Bahr officiating. Burial was in Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee.
Arrangements were handled by Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City.
Hazel Williams
Hazel Williams, 70, of Wellston died Monday in Oklahoma City.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon Williams of the home; a son, Terry Williams; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Baptist Church in Wellston with the Rev. Lane Buckley officiating. Burial will be in the Wellston Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Chandler.
Elsie Worth
Elsie Worth, 85, of Shawnee died Friday.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Melvetta and Allin Overturf of Asher and Janetta Worth of Delray Beach, Fla.; a stepson, Melvin Worth Jr. of Ferndale, Wash.; a stepdaughter, LaTola Hill of Phoenix, Ariz.; three grandsons; five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11 a.m. today at the First Christian Church in Garber, Okla., with the Rev. Harold Shore officiating. Burial will be at Garber Cemetery under the direction of Dugger Funeral Home of Garber.
Thelma Tarbox
Thelma "Bill" Tarbox, 76, of Tecumseh died Monday in Tecumseh.
She was born Feb. 24, 1926, west of Tecumseh, the daughter of Samuel M. "Mac" and Lula Betty (Burchfield) Branson.
Tarbox lived on a farm in Brown and Pink, then moved to Tecumseh. She attended Willow View Elementary School and graduated from Tecumseh High School.
As a youth, she worked with her father in the family grocery. Following high school, she became a telephone operator and worked for Southwestern Bell for 35 years.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tecumseh and the Southwestern Bell Pioneers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Roy, Hadley and Cleo Branson and Claude Hawkins; and five sisters, Vera Claxton, Violet Black, Hazel Branson, Betty Melot and Nova Brewer.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharyl and Dave Patten of Tecumseh and LuAnn and Roger White of Atlanta; a daughter, Suzi Gannon of Oklahoma City; a sister, Almeta "Midge" Foust of Denver, Colo.; three grandchildren, Lori Russell and Dava Byrd, both of Norman, and Branson Michael White of Atlanta; a niece, Geneva Moore of Spiro; three great-grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Tecumseh Cemetery with Dr. Lavon Brown officiating. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.
The family has designated the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Alzheimer's Research as appropriate for memorials. Memorials may be sent to the foundation at 825 N.E. 13th St., Oklahoma City, OK 73104.
Vicky L. Phillips
Vicky L. Phillips, 47, of Harrah died Sunday in Oklahoma City.
She was born July 18,1954, in Shawnee to Elgar G. and Emma (Tarter) Raper. She graduated from Maud High School and received her bachelor's and master's degrees from East Central University in Ada.
She worked as a rehabilitation counselor for the Department of Veterans Affairs.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, James H. Phillips of the home; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Randall Sr. and Johnna Hurt of Chickasha and Sam Hurt of Oklahoma; one brother; three sisters; two grandchildren; two nieces; one grandniece; and one grandnephew.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel in Harrah with Brother Peck officiating. Burial will follow at the Cummings Cemetery in Maud, under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service of Harrah.
J.W. "Jack" Vigneron
John William "Jack" Vigneron, 81, of Harrah died Sunday at his home.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, George and Thelma Vigneron of Harrah and Arthur and Carlene Vigneron of Jones; two sisters, Sadie Watts of Port Townsend, Wash., and Nellie "Jean" Meador of Superior, Mont.; four grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Summit Ridge Seventh Day Adventist Church with Elder Rob Valentin officiating.
Burial will follow in the Summit Ridge Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Asa Smith Funeral Service of Harrah.
Wynona Ramsey Simmons Columbus
Wynona Ramsey Simmons Columbus, 75, of Shawnee died Saturday in Shawnee.
She was born Dec. 21, 1926, in Tribbey to Fred C. and Velma Ramsey. She graduated from Macomb High School, and she worked at the Sylvania plant for two years.
She was married to Andrew "Tito" Columbus. She was active for many years in the Shawnee Humane Society.
Survivors include her husband, Andrew "Tito" Columbus of Shawnee; three daughters and one son-in-law, LaNell and Gerald Montgomery of Shawnee, Diana McElroy of Oklahoma City, and Cheryl Ann Littleton of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Mary Yerky of Tulsa and Rebecca Hazlett of Shawnee; a brother, Jack Ramsey of Shawnee; three grandchildren, Kristine Williams, Sara Littleton and Clay Littleton; two stepsons, Andy and Michael Columbus of Shawnee; one stepdaughter, Sheila Columbus of Shawnee; and six stepgrandchildren.
Graveside services
are 3 p.m. Wednesday at Tribbey Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Matthews and Phil Thompson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
The family has designated Special Care, Inc.; 12201 N. Western, Oklahoma City, Okla., 73114, as appropriate for memorials.
