Norma Edith Williams
Seminole resident Norma Edith Williams died Friday in her home at the age of 90.
The lifelong Seminole County resident was born Jan. 20, 1911, in Maud to Isaac and Belle Oakes.
She married Earley W. Williams June 4, 1927, in Maud. He preceded her in death in 1993. She was a member of the Wolf Freewill Baptist Church and a quilting group.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, three brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Earl and Mary Williams of Wewoka; two daughters and sons-in-law, Belle and Ken Roberts of Arkansas and Frances and Bob Tolle of California; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Tommie Lawler of Seminole and Johnnie and Elmer Ferguson of Prague; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Services were held Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel of Seminole. Burial followed at Wolf Cemetery.
Orah Videll Katsones
Pawnee resident Orah Videll "Kay O" Katsones, 82, died Thursday at Pawnee Municipal Hospital.
The longtime Cromwell resident was born Sept. 5, 1919, in Henryetta to Otto and Willie Davison.
She was a homemaker.
Katsones was preceded in death by her parents, a son and five brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her son, George Katsones of California; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and other family members.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday in Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
William Underwood
Shawnee resident William Underwood died Saturday in his home at the age of 83.
Services are pending and will be announced by Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.
Elizabeth Anna Gallaway
Elizabeth Anna Gallaway died Friday in Shawnee at the age of 85.
She was born Aug. 13, 1916, in Meeker to Thomas and Lena Lee.
She married Earl Gallaway Jan. 29, 1935, in Shawnee and worked many years for Lewis Manufacturing.
She was a member of the Morning Star Baptist Church of Meeker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Jim Day of Meeker and Earlene and Bill Mays of Oklahoma City; three brothers, Forrest and Fred Lee of Meeker and Richard Lee of Shawnee; two sisters, Mary Judd of Meeker and Dorothy O'Brien of Sparks; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and other family members.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Morning Star Baptist Church of Meeker with the Rev. Roy Brown and the Rev. Mike Booth officiating under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Chandler. Viewing will be at the Meeker location.
Ramona Simons
Maud resident Ramona Simons died Friday in a Maud nursing home at the age of 70.
Arrangements are pending with Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.
Lucy Mae Harris
Seminole resident Lucy Mae Harris died Saturday in an Oklahoma City hospital at the age of 67. Arrangements are pending with Swearingen Funeral Home.
Maxine E. Raines
Maxine E. Raines, 84, died Thursday in her Shawnee home.
She was born Aug. 29, 1917, in Sand Springs, the daughter of Thomas and Pearl (Combrisk) Cody.
She worked in assembly at Sylvania Electronics. She later was a waitress at the City Cafe until her retirement.
She was married to Fred Raines, who preceded her in death Sept. 13, 1993.
Raines lived in several Oklahoma communities before moving to Shawnee.
One grandson, Tommy "Buster" Towery, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include three children, Herbert L. Gage of Kansas City, Mo., Pat LaFaver of Seminole and Sue Keithley of Shawnee; three grandchildren, Robin Gage, Penny LaFaver and Tammy Nitz; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Martha Ann Dixon of Louisiana; and her brother, Sammy Nakedhead of Texas.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Bill Matthews and the Rev. Phil Thompson will officiate. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.
Bessie Pearl Scribner
Bessie Pearl Scribner, 96, died Friday in Chandler.
She was born Aug. 10, 1905, in Chandler, the daughter of John and Florence (Coltharp) Day.
She and Thomas Van Buren Scribner were married March 4, 1935, in Shawnee.
Scribner, a member of the Church of Christ in Chandler, worked in the kitchen at Pioneer Estate Nursing Home for many years.
Preceding her in death were her husband, daughter, parents, three brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include one son, Thomas Ray Scribner of Chandler; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday at New Zion Cemetery in Chandler. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Chandler.
Blanche J. Morgan
Former Pottawatomie County resident Blanche J. Morgan, Tuttle, died Tuesday in Tuttle. She was 91.
The daughter of William L. and Ella (Trammell) Stephens was born in Whitley County, Ky., on Dec. 8, 1909. She attended Davis School in Cleveland County. She and her family moved to the Cement area in 1910. She later lived near Macomb.
On Dec. 21, 1926, she and R.M. "Stoney" Morgan were married in Tribbey. The couple had lived in Tribbey for 37 years before moving to Fort Gibson Lake.
Mrs. Morgan had also lived in Shawnee.
She was a homemaker and a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Shawnee and the American Legion Auxiliary in Tecumseh.
Preceding her in death were her husband; parents; one sister, Macy Milligan, and two brothers, Eugene and R.L. Stephens.
Survivors include her two sisters, Velma Noske of Hobart and Anna Wilsie of Wanette, and her nieces and nephews, Betty Broadus of Oklahoma City; Johnny Block of Roosevelt; Pat Sproat of Houston; Gayle Hutcherson of Tuttle; Carl Paramore of Wanette and Anna Mae Able of Tulsa.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Will Bentley will officiate. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.
Myrtle Minnie Wright Stokes
Myrtle Minnie Wright "Mama" Stokes, 97, died Tuesday in her Shawnee home.
She was born Dec. 23, 1903, near Ada. The daughter of Jesse Monroe and Nannie (Wright) Wright was raised in a sod house.
On Aug. 8, 1922, she and Richard L. Stokes were married. They lived in Wewoka from 1925 to 1942. She lived through the Great Depression and helped construct bombers during World War II.
Mrs. Stokes worked for Douglas Aircraft in Midwest City during World War II. She also was a housewife and Avon representative.
A member of Liberty Baptist Church, Mrs. Stokes had lived in Shawnee for 60 years.
Preceding her in death were her husband; seven brothers, Clint, Dewey, Robert, Vester, Jess, Clyde, and F.L. Wright; two sisters, Esther Fowler and Lottie Tarver; daughter-in-law, Doyce Edward Stokes, and son-in-law, Foy W. McClung.
Survivors include her two daughters and a son-in-law, Pat and Glenn Secrest of Oklahoma City and Lorene McClung of Hominy; a son, Jesse L. Stokes of Broken Arrow; a sister, Reda Braudrick of San Dimas, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Patricia Secrest of Oklahoma City; Mike Secrest of Norman; Dane Secrest of Norman; Foy D. McMasters of Dallas, Texas; Rick McClung of Tulsa; Laveta Casdor of San Antonio, Texas, and Roger Stokes of Tulsa; 13 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Liberty Baptist Church. Bill Matthews and Phil Thompson will officiate. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
George Edward Mitchell
Former Shawnee and Tecumseh resident George Edward Mitchell died Aug. 2 at the age of 70.
He had lived in Eufaula for the last two years.
Mitchell was born Oct. 14, 1930, in Heavener, Okla., to William R. Mitchell and Myrtle (Mills) Mitchell. He attended school in Wewoka. Mitchell had served in the 45th division during the Korean conflict.
He was a retired truck driver.
Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters, Jewell McLaughlin and Marie Redwine.
Survivors include his three sons and two daughters-in-law, Rick and Donette Mitchell of Midwest City; Steve and Linda Mitchell of Shawnee, and Gary Mitchell of Rush Springs; three grandchildren, Jessica Mitchell of Shawnee, and Kyle and Mallory Mitchell of Meeker; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Ina Mitchell of Tecumseh; Frank and Sandy Mitchell and Ted and Jan Mitchell, all of Santee, Calif.; seven sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy Jennings and Martha Summers, both of Eufaula; Farris and Harold Erwin and Kay and Steve Bently, all of Longtown; Alice and Pete Hipsher of Enid; Mildred and Bob Benton of Kingsland, Texas, and Linda Lou Friggle of Manteca, Calif., as well as numerous other relatives.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Sunday at the Eufaula VFW.
Arrangements were handled by Kim Cannon-Lee Funeral Home, Altus.
Robert Mitchell
Robert "Bob" Mitchell, Midwest City, died Tuesday at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was 59.
He was born Aug. 24, 1941, in Pauls Valley, the son of Robert Emmitt Mitchell Sr. and Bessie (Walters) Mitchell. He was a Pauls Valley High School graduate.
Mitchell, the owner of Bob's Style Shop in Midwest City, was a member of Crest Baptist Church in Midwest City.
His parents preceded him in death.
Survivors include his son, Brian Bobby Mitchell of Weatherford, and his three sisters, Veta Young of Seminole, Joyce Driskell of Pauls Valley and Marlene Moran of Stella.
Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole. The Rev. David McDougal will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Services for A.L. "Dude" Adkisson Sr., 82, have changed.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Osage Cemetery in Agra. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.
