Zelpha Mae Wall

Zelpha Mae Wall, 71, of Shawnee died Monday at her home.

She was born Jan. 16, 1930, in Lefors, Texas, the daughter of Jansen and Addie Ward.

Wall graduated from Holdenville High School. She attended Seminole State College and Oklahoma Baptist University where she earned a nursing degree. She worked as a registered nurse.

She married B.K. Wall on June 27, 1948, and attended Immanuel Baptist Church.

Wall was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; three brothers, Wesley Ward, Carl Ward and Raymond Ward; and a sister, Mildred McCartney.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Karen Wall and A.N. "Tony" and Shelley Wall, all of Shawnee; two daughters and a son-in-law, Andrea Wall and Susan and Gary Smoot; a sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Leo Conner of Granbury, Texas; a sister-in-law, Anita Ward of Sand Springs; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, James and Mary Ellen Wall and Jim and Charlotte Lowe; five grandchildren and their spouses, Leslie and Russell Click, Caitlynn Wall, Kelsey Wall, Tanner Wall and Ryan Smoot; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Moore officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Ruby Ellen Rone

Ruby Ellen Rone, 79, died Saturday.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Jerry Clifton and Deanie and Wally Davis, all of Oklahoma City; one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Donna Rone of Shawnee; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Rancho Village Baptist Church. Burial will be at 1 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Shawnee. Arrangements are under the direction of Branstetter-Merritt Funeral Home of Oklahoma City.

Vina Bell Hallman

Shawnee resident Vina Bell Hallman, 93, died Thursday at a local hospital.

She was born Jan. 15, 1909, in Clarksville, Ark., to John Thomas and Lizabeth (Hammons) Hignite.

In 1930, she married Jesse Noel Hallman at Chandler. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Jimmie Hallman and a granddaughter, Kathy Guinn.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Dale Guinn and Sue and Cecil Bernard, all of Shawnee; five grandchildren, Susan LeBlanc of Marietta, Fla., Teresa Leek of Canton, Ga., Patty Ormerod of Harrah, Nancy Washburn of Tecumseh and Roger Guinn of McAlester; and five great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Blackburn Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Sparks officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Virginia Lairson Balekian

Virginia Lairson Balekian, 57, of Rogers, Ark., died Saturday at the hospital in Independence, Mo.

She was born March 28, 1945, in Shawnee, the daughter of Ollen and Virginia Ady Lairson.

Balekian was a retired supervisor with the U.S. Postal Service in Fayetteville, Ark. She was a member of the National Association of Postal Supervisors.

She and her husband, Jack Balekian, owned JVB Woodcarving Studio in Rogers, Ark.

Balekian was a member of the Faith and Fellowship Church in Rogers.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 8, 1999.

Survivors include a son, Carl Smith Jr. of Independence; four daughters, Larissa Conley and Gia Smith, both of Redfield, Ark., Kandrea Balekian of Lancaster, Calif., and Kesandra Saincome of Oxnard, Calif.; three sisters, Ollena Wallenda of Independence, Lillie Smith of Olivehurst, Calif., and Mary McRae of Sacramento, Calif.; two brothers, George Lairson of Marysville, Calif. and Lloyd Carl Lairson of Bossier City, La.; three grandchildren, Coty Smith, Gina Mae Conley and Brian Krause; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Benton County Funeral Home in Rogers, Ark., with the Rev. Dennis Cook and the Rev. Herman Searcy officiating. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fayetteville National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lions Club (Eye Vision) in care of Jim Secker, 110 Killdeer Road, Rogers, AR 72756, or to the donor's choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Benton County Funeral Home.

Timothy Lincicome

Timothy Lincicome, 55, of Sulphur died Saturday at Mercy Hospital in Ardmore.

He was born Sept. 5, 1947, in Shawnee, the son of Roland and Reva (Whisenhunt) Lincicome.

Lincicome graduated from Shawnee High School in 1966. He later attended carpentry classes at Gordon Cooper Vocational-Technical School and worked in the construction/carpentry trades in Shawnee.

He served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran in the 4th Division infantry. He received numerous honors, including the Purple Heart. He was a member of the American Legion and Northwest Missionary Baptist Church in Shawnee.

Survivors include three children, Timothy Lincicome, Deidra Lincicome and William Cody Lincicome, all of Fort Worth, Texas; his parents, Roland and Reva Lincicome of Midwest City; and two brothers, Michael Lincicome of Oklahoma City and Toppie Lincicome of Shawnee.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Resthaven Memorial Park, with the Rev. Ed Fox officiating.

Arrangements are being handled by Resthaven Funeral Home.

Samuel Jewell Jordan

Samuel Jewell Jordan died Sunday in Midwest City at the age of 88.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Larry Morphis; grandchildren, Jonathon and Gina Morphis of Edmond, Jeffrey Morphis of Oklahoma City and Larisa; two great-granddaughters; a sister and brother-in-law, Nellie and Howard Good; special nephew and niece and nephew-in-law, Debbie and Jimmie Trammell of Midwest City and Michael Jenkins of Edmond; several other nieces and nephews; three sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Lorene Jenkins and Alma Artis of Midwest City and Cora Lee and Greg Kolb, of Lancaster, Pa.; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Carl and LaWanda Springer of Prague.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. today in Garden Grove Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague.

Rhonda Ramsey Case

Rhonda Ramsey Case, 47, of Shawnee died Wednesday at her home.

She was born Jan. 8, 1955, in Shawnee. Her parents are Bud and Wanda Beamer of Shawnee and Don and Dean Ramsey of Jones.

She graduated from Bethel High School in 1973 and was valedictorian of her class.

After graduation she was hired by Kerr McGee Corporation and worked there until her retirement in 2001.

She married Bobby Wayne Case of Oklahoma City on March 17, 2001, and they moved to Shawnee.

She had been a member of Blackburn Chapel Church since she was 14. She was active in school and church work, playing the piano at church for Sunday School and assisting with the high school annual at Bethel School. She was also a trap shooter and managed the Shawnee Gun Club for two-and-a-half years.

She lived in the Bethel community most of her life.

Survivors include her husband, Bobby Case, of the home; her parents, Bud and Wanda Beamer of Shawnee and Don and Dean Ramsey of Jones; her parents-in-law, Terry and Leta Shoemake, Piedmont; brother-in-law, Jimmie Lee Case, Piedmont; two nephews, Justin and Jordan Case, Piedmont; and several cousins and friends from this area, as well as her co-workers.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Blackburn Chapel Church with the Rev. Larry Sparks officiating. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Allen M. Storie

Allen M. Storie, 67, Tucson, Ariz., died Sunday in Tucson.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Fairview Baptist Church.

Further announcements will be made by Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Jim Doyle Moreu

Services are pending with Swearington Funeral Home for Jim Doyle Moreu Sr., 89, Seminole. He died Tuesday at Shawnee.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Swearington Funeral Chapel in Seminole.

Carmaletta Matlock

Tecumseh resident Carmaletta Matlock, 69, died Wednesday in Tecumseh.

She was born Jan. 10, 1933, in Ada to Roy and Mittie (Hutching) Matlock.

She lived in Ohio, Sacramento, Calif., and Las Vegas, Nev., before moving to Tecumseh 22 years ago. She attended school in Ada and worked as a waitress.

She was a member of Oak Avenue Baptist of Ada.

Survivors include her sister, Mary Ann Low of Tecumseh; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Dan Matlock of Owasso and Terry and Rhetta Matlock of Shawnee; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Tecumseh Cemetery with the Rev. Will Bentley officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

August Irene Sherrod

August Irene (Franklin) Sherrod, 78, of Oklahoma City died Friday in Oklahoma City.

She was born Aug. 20, 1923, in Duncan, the daughter of Leonard A. "Frank" and Alma (Henderson) Franklin.

The Franklin family moved to Seminole when August was 6. She lived in Seminole until graduating from high school in 1941.

She married Jack L. Sherrod in Las Vegas, Nev.

Sherrod traveled the world with her husband, who owned his own petroleum engineering consulting firm.

They lived in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, sheikdoms of the United Arab Emirates, and in Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Brazil and other overseas locations. Their permanent home was in La Mesa, Calif., where they lived until Jack Sherrod's death. Afterward, she lived for a short time in Wickenburg, Ariz., before moving back to Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert L. and Sandra Guthrey Grahn of Oklahoma City; a brother, Robert L. Franklin of Shawnee; a sister, Loretta Franklin-Jones of Shawnee; a granddaughter, Abby Stark of Franksville, Wis.; a grandson, Derrick Grahn of Chicago; four great-grandchildren; and a niece and nephew.

A memorial service was held Tuesday at Unity Church in Oklahoma City with the Rev. Patrick McAndrew officiating. Sherrod was cremated, and her ashes will be placed alongside her husband's at Fort Rosencrans National Cemetery, overlooking the Pacific Ocean in San Diego, Calif.

Gene H. Dodgion

Gene H. Dodgion, 73, Tecumseh, died Sunday in Shawnee.

He was born Sept. 23, 1928, in Hammon, Okla., to Jim and Faye Maddox Dodgion.

Dodgion was reared in Cloud Chief, Okla., and Fort Cobb. He graduated from Cobb High School.

During his military career, he was stationed in Illinois, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Okinawa and Saudi Arabia.

He served in the U.S. Air Force for more than 13 years and served in the Korean conflict. Following his military career, he worked at Tinker Air Force Base. He was a teleconcentrator and computer operator. He and his wife also farmed in Macomb and Maud.

Dodgion had lived in Pottawatomie County since 1972.

On Oct. 7, 1950, he married Lois Franklin in Cordell.

He is preceded in death by one daughter, Ellen Crager; his parents; a grandson, Shane Rush; two brothers, Wayne and Max Dodgion; and one sister, Ida Dodgion.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Dodgion of the home; three daughters and sons-in-laws, Patricia and Bob Hipchen, Borrego Springs, Calif., Janice Rush, Welling, Okla., Betty and Glen Nail, Tecumseh; a son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Tammie Dodgion, Macomb; two sisters and brother-in-law, Loretta and Tilman Franklin, Meridian, Okla., June Opitz, Stratford; a brother and sister-in-law, J.O. and Doris Dodgion, Vian; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Tim Walker and the Rev. Mike Craig officiating. Burial follows in Prairie View Cemetery.
