Shawnee resident Margaret Newell died Monday at her home. She was 83.
Graveside services
will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Tecumseh Cemetery.

Hazel Lee Johnson
Hazel Lee Johnson, Prague, died Sunday in Prague. She was 87.
Mrs. Johnson was born May 22, 1912, in Lincoln County, to Hubert and Myrtle (Duggan) Smith.
She married Joe Johnson on July 3, 1929, in Okemah. He preceded her in death on March 2, 1995.
She was a homemaker, and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Prague.
She also was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Harold VanZant, Prague; a brother, Cecil Smith, Ardmore; three sisters, Jewell Schima, Shawnee, Dorotha Heinzig, Prague, and Leora Daniel, Modesta, Calif.; three grandchildren, Randy VanZant, Arkansas, Robin Marsh, Prague, and Kae and Sammy McGinnis, Shawnee; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Prague with the Rev. Jim Powell officiating.
Burial will be in Prague Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home.
William "W.A." Hunt
William "W.A." Hunt of Harrah died Sunday. He was 59.
He was born to Jeff and Janie (Miller) Hunt Oct. 20, 1940, in Mill Creek, Okla.
He earned The Citizen of the Year Award in 1999.
He was preceded in death by father.
Survivors include his mother, Janie Hunt of the home; two sisters, Edith Evelyn Tanner of Garland, Texas and Zula Jean McGee of Trena, Calif.; one aunt, Katie May Burns of Sulphur; 10 nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends.
Funeral services
will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Asa Smith Funeral Chapel, Harrah, with interment at Memory Lane Cemetery, Harrah.
Arrangements will be directed by Asa Smith Funeral Service.
Minnie Lorene McMullin Vickery
Minnie Lorene McMullin Vickery of McAlester died Saturday at a McAlester hospital. She was 95.
She was born Jan. 6, 1906, in Chant Indian Territory the daughter of William Wright McMullin and Delila Ann Carr.
She married Earl Vickery on Dec. 24, 1926, near Redmound (Strother Community). He died in 1988.
Vickery was a housewife. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Wewoka.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, Evelyn McMullin; one brother, Herman McMullin and one grandson, Gary Blanken.
Survivors include two daughters, Delila Loy of McAlester and Larlene Blanken of Layton, Utah; one sister, Elfreda Maynard of Wewoka; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and a host of other family and friends.
Graveside services
will be 2 p.m. today at Little Cemetery with Rev. Roy Robertson officiating.
Burial will be at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Donna Ruth Malone
Donna Ruth Malone, former Shawnee resident, died Sunday in Oklahoma City from multiple sclerosis. She was 51.
She graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1975 and did post-graduate work in both vocal and piano performance. In 1978, she was asked to return to Oklahoma Baptist University as the first staff accompanist and rehearsal coach for the W.M. Angell College of Fine Arts.
Malone remained in that position until her early retirement in December 1983.
She was active as a recitalist as a singer and as a pianist, locally and regionally.
She also taught voice and piano here in Shawnee and in Oklahoma City. She was a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and the Oklahoma Music Teachers' Association.
Malone also was a member of Shawnee's Fine Arts Club (1978-1983) and Sigma Alpha Iota.
Funeral services
will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wilmont Place Baptist Church in Oklahoma City.
Burial will be at Sunny Lane Cemetery in Del City under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home.
Helena "Elain" Dongon
Helena "Elain" Dongon of Shawnee died Thursday. She was 76.
She was born Aug. 14, 1923, in Lazi, Philippines. She was the daughter of Crispolo Ramirez and Cornelia Vios.
She was born in the Philippines, where she lived most of her life. She moved to Shawnee in 1990.
In March 1941 she married Bonifacio Dongon in the Philippines. She was a homemaker and educator in Catholic schools in the Philippines.
She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Lourdes Colasing and one son, Alberto Dongon.
Survivors include her husband, Bonifacio Dongon of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Lilly and Billy Jumawan of the home; two granddaughters, a grandson and a grandson-in-law, Lilibeth and Kosol Casey; Rickey Jumawan and Lyn Jumawan; cousin, Jacinta Lumacad of Shawnee.
Funeral services
will be 12:10 p.m. Wednesday at St. Benedict Catholic Church with the Rev. Maurice Jaeb, O.S.B., officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
Grover L. Dunkin
Grover L. Dunkin, 80, Shawnee, died Thursday in a local hospital.
The son of T. Lee Dunkin and Irene (McCarn) Dunkin was born Aug. 28, 1920, in Allen, Okla. He graduated from Shawnee High School.
Dunkin was a self-employed welder who spent his last five working years with Bodard and Hale Drilling Co. He retired in 1982.
On June 11, 1949, he and Dorothy Chancellor were married in Holdenville.
Dunkin served for the U.S. Army in Italy during World War II.
He had lived in Shawnee most of his life and had attended the First Assembly of God Church.
Preceding Dunkin in death were his parents, one brother and one sister.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Patricia and Bob Drockton and Vonda Bald Eagle, all of California; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Resthaven Funeral Home. The Rev. James Walter and the Rev. Leroy Kerbo will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Rose Lee (Cox) Dunagan
Rose Lee (Cox) Dunagan, Norman, died Thursday at Norman Regional Hospital. She was 75.
She was born Sept. 23, 1926, in Norman.
On July 7, 1945, she and Andrew "Andy" David Dunagan were married in Norman.
Mrs. Dunagan retired in the late 1980s from her position as a cook for the Little Axe school system. She also worked on the Little Axe Volunteer Fire Department Committee.
In 1968, she moved from Seminole to Norman.
The daughter of Orville D. Cox and Ethel May (Bowlin) Cox was a Baptist.
Preceding Mrs. Dunagan in death were her parents, her daughter Deloris Dunagan, two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Rose Dunagan of Schotten, Germany, and Larry and Lucy Dunagan of Portland, Ore.; a daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Jeff Wornick of Norman; a half brother, Richard Cox of Great Bend, Kan.; a half sister, Alfreda Brummer of Houston, Texas; 15 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Little Cemetery. The Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Lillie Mae Splitt
Shawnee resident Lillie Mae Splitt died Friday in Shawnee. She was 81.
She was born Oct. 31, 1919, in Fort Camp, Ark., to Willard and Anna Mae (Kirkland) Adams. She graduated from Gracemont High School and earned a bachelor's degree in home economics from college in Weatherford.
On Aug. 8, 1942, she married Leonard Splitt in Anadarko.
She was reared in Gracemont and lived in Anadarko and Oklahoma City before moving to the Shawnee area in 1965.
She was a homemaker and an advertisement designer for Sears and The Shawnee News-Star. She was active in Alcoholics Anonymous, sponsoring many people, and was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and active in its choir, Altar Society and Sponsa Regis.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Lenda Guthrie.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Leonard Splitt, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Donna Splitt, Oklahoma City; two grandsons and spouses, Richie and Jill Splitt and Chris and Sandy Splitt, all of Oklahoma City; four great-grandchildren, Sicily, Madison, Shane and Blake; and numerous friends and other family members.
Wake services will be 7 p.m. today at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Father Maurus Jaeb, O.S.B., officiating.
Mass of Christian Burial will be noon Monday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Shawnee, with Father Maurus Jaeb, O.S.B., officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Oklahoma City.
Anita Stidham
Anita Stidham, 63, died Saturday at her Chandler home.
Graveside services
will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Star Valley Cemetery near Chandler. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funderal Home, Chandler.
