Juanita Pearl Townsend
Juanita Pearl Townsend, 80, died Saturday in Oklahoma City.
Mrs. Townsend was born March 9, 1918, in Okeene to Benjamin Harrison and Rosa (Cook) Ritz. She married Delmer Townsend on Aug. 23, 1947, in Kansas.
She worked at the Chandler Senior Citizen Center and with Project Heart for many years.
Survivors include her son, Wallace Townsend, Norman; daughter, Majorie Curtis, Oklahoma City; five brothers, Charles Ritz, Howard, Kan.; Chester Ritz, Okeene; Lewis Ritz, Osage City, Kan.; Lester Ritz, Yukon; Gene Ritz, Guthrie; two sisters, Nancy Wilder and Gloria O'Conner, both of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Delmer Townsend, in 1984.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Chandler, with the Rev. Bo Gibbs officiating. Burial will be in Carney Cemetery.
Freeda Laverne McClure
Longtime Seminole resident Freeda "Dube" Laverne McClure died Friday at a local hospital. She was 85.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Slim Crabtree officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park, Shawnee.
Mrs. McClure was born Feb. 20, 1913, in Konawa to Homer Knappenberger and Carrie Burch. She married Haskell McClure.
She graduated from Earlsboro High School. She sold Avon products and worked in a garment factory in Wewoka during the 1940s and 1950s. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include her son, Chub McClure, Seminole; daughters and sons-in-law, C.J. and Cliff Brasier and Shay and Charles Maxwell, all of Seminole; daughter, Geri Verldine Huston, Shawnee; one sister, Arline Bell, Shawnee; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She preceded in death by her husband, Haskell McClure, in December of 1984; and her son, Clay McClure, in 1994.
Vesta Hudspeth
Longtime Shawnee resident Vesta Hudspeth died Friday at a local hospital. She was 88.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dan Reihing officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. Monday in Highland Cemetery, Durant.
Mrs. Hudspeth was born Feb. 27, 1910, in Pryor. She married Halsell Hudspeth in Durant.
She attended the Oklahoma Presbyterian College, Durant, on a basketball scholarship and made the All-American Team. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Oklahoma Archeological Society and the First Christian Church.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, John and Jan Hudspeth, Shawnee; daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Dale Cole, Odessa, Texas; grandson, Bob Hudspeth, Louisville, Ky.; two stepgrandchildren, Warren Gale, Edmond; Dana Womack, Shawnee; sister, Edith Haley, Santa Rose, Calif.; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, on Aug. 13, 1968; and her grandson, Jimmy Hudspeth.
Eugene Alexander Cross, Jr.
Eugene Alexander "Gene," Cross Jr., 40, Mannford died Wednesday.
He was born June 26, 1958, in Shawnee to Eugene Sr. and Edith Cross.
He was a formsetter with the Doug Allen Construction Co.
He is survived by his wife Tina, of the home; children, Steven and Tawni Cross, Michael Cross, all of Sand Springs; Joshua and Tamara Wallage of Pauls Valley; Jerrit, Elizabeth, Bethany, and Justin Wallage, all of the home; his parents, Eugene and Edith Cross of Shawnee; stepmother Freda Cross; grandmother Ruth Cross of Shawnee; sisters, Catherine Ann and Keith Compton, Evelyn and Steve Gruette, all of Shawnee; granddaughter, Tara Jean of Pauls Valley; uncles, Bennie and Joyce Cross of Mannford; J.T. and Jeanie Baker, Charlie and Bessie Baker, all of Shawnee; Donnie Joe Baker, Okla. City; aunts, Deloa and Robert Cook and Nova Cross of Shawnee, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial services are 11 a.m. Monday at the Rock Creek Church south of Prattville with Pastor Mike Robinson officiating. Private burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Mannford. Arrangements are under the direction of The Mannford Funeral Home.
John C. Jones
John C. "Jack" Jones, 77, Shawnee, died Saturday in Shawnee.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Will Bentley officiating.
Jones was born Dec. 15, 1921, in Oklahoma City to John and Eva (Hughes) Sanders. He lived most of his life in Oklahoma City and had lived in Shawnee for the past year.
He retired as a production control specialist from Tinker Air Force Base. He was a World War II veteran, serving with the U.S. Army in England, France, Luxembourg and Germany.
Survivors include his daughter, Marilyn Pebsworth, Shawnee; daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and William Stacy, Del City; Connie and Wayne Phelps, Ardmore; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ernst Christman Krieg
Ernst Christman Krieg, 90, died Tuesday in Edmond.
Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
A service will be 2 p.m. Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wellston with the Rev. Harold Kamman officiating. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery at Wellston.
Arrangements are being handled by Parks Brothers Funeral Service.
Pat Fowler
Arkansas resident Pat Fowler, 68, died Friday in Van Buren, Ark.
Survivors include her husband, Truman Fowler Jr. of Van Buren; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathy and Steve Bowlan of Shawnee and Lucy Kinslow of Rogers, Ark.; sisters, Paulette Holden of Cecil, Ark., and Dorotha Mae Snide of Chandler, Ariz.; a brother, John W. Mayner of Fort Smith, Ark.; and three grandchildren.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Van Buren. Burial will be 2 p.m. Monday at Highland Cemetery of Ozark, Ark.
Mary E. Kokenge
Shawnee native Mary Kokenge, 82, died Wednesday.
She was born Sept. 22, 1919, in Shawnee to George L. and Leona (Ramsey) Timmons.
She was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Moore.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Dalene and Leland Nelson of Albuquerque, N.M.; sister, Dorothy Timmons of Oklahoma City; granddaughter and husband, Natalie and Juan Velasco; great-grandchildren, Juan F. Velasco and Gabriel Velasco; nephews, George E. Cameron, Allan W. Cameron, Dewayne Brown and Edward Brown; nieces, Gloria F. Davis, Sherri Wood, Vicki Morrison and Denese and Delores J. Griffith of Shawnee.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Saturday at the South Colonial Chapel of Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary. Burial followed in Resthaven Cemetery of Oklahoma City.
Arrangements were under the direction of Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary.
Valera Currin
Shawnee resident Valera Currin, 91, died Saturday at a local nursing home.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church with burial following at Fairview Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.
Lindsay L. Carr Jr.
Tecumseh resident Lindsay L. Carr Jr., 75, died Thursday in Bethany.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Carr, of the home; two daughters, Twila Carr of Tecumseh and Dee Carr of Shawnee; mother, Irene Carr of Lindsey; brother and sister-in-law, Olen and Beverly Carr of Wewoka; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Twila and Otis Cooper of Quinlan, Texas, and Ellen Baker of Lindsey; several nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Main Street Church of Christ in Alex. Burial will follow in the Alex Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home of Chickasha.
Joan G. Tate
Seminole resident Joan Tate, 72, died Saturday at an Edmond hospital.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Tate, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Dinda and Paul Rachel of Ada; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Marilyn Tate of Meeker; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous other family and friends.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Lynn Borrego officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Davenport Cemetery.

Eufaula resident Curtis Brown, 33, died Thursday.
Survivors include his mother, Joyce (Raley) Brown, of the home; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Linda Brown and Dwight Anthony and Peggy Brown, all of McLoud, and Chris and Mary Brown of Nicoma Park; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Jeanie and John Thompson of San Antonio, Texas; Judy Brown, of the home; Darla and Bob Heald of McLoud; Timi and David Decker of Tahlequah; and Rene and Gary Patterson of Luther; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Services are 2 p.m. Monday at the Assembly of God Church of Eufaula.
Arrangements are under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home.

George Bostick, 61, Macomb, died Thursday in Purcell.
Survivors include a daughter, Krystal Bostick, Asher; two brothers, Darryl Bostick and Russel Bostick, both of Edmond; two sisters, Vivian Lawson, Edmond, and Lillie Petty, Gordon, Texas; a granddaughter and many aunts and uncles.
