Vallis Dale Friend
Vallis Dale Friend, 63, died in his Prague home on Saturday.
He was born May 28, 1937, in Okemah, the son of Raymond T. Friend and Velma (Kidd) Friend Presley. He had been a Prague resident most of his life.
Friend graduated from Prague High School in 1956. He was a retired oil superintendent, having worked for Morgan Well Service. He retired in 1985 after more than 30 years of service.
Friend was a member of First Christian Church, Prague.
On Dec. 19, 1959, he and Betty Bishop married in Seminole.
His parents preceded Friend in death.
Survivors include his wife of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Tammy Sturdivan of Edmond; daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Randy Bluethman of Perry and Terri and Randy Terrell of Prague; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jesse and Lorene Friend of Shawnee and Pete and Wanda Friend of Prague; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Earl Drury of Prague; and his grandchildren and their spouses, Claire Sturdivan, Chad and Melissa Davis, Jeff Davis, Erica Bleakman, Zack Bleakman, Gregg and Elizabeth Terrell and Megan Terrell.
Graveside services
will be 11 a.m. today at Prague Cemetery. The Rev. Cal Hunter will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Prague.

Ferol Helzer
Ferol Helzer, 97, died Sunday in Chandler.
She was the daughter of Henry and Mary (Hendricks) Crain and was born in Springfield, Mo., on Feb. 18, 1904. She had lived in California and Colorado before moving to Chandler in 1987.
Helzer was a homemaker.
Preceding her in death were her husbands, Frank Mitchell and Roy Helzer; parents; two daughters; three sisters; and two brothers.
Survivors include her son, Frank Mitchell of Chandler; daughters, Phyllis Helzer of Chandler and Shirley Molloy of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler. The Rev. Rick Blackwell will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Chandler.
Teddy Duane Everhart
Teddy Duane "Ted" Everhart, 68, died Thursday at Wewoka Nursing Center.
The lifelong Seminole County resident was born in Earlsboro on July 13, 1933, the son of Thomas Walter and Edna Marie (Teel) Everhart.
On April 3, 1954, he married Janell Aleene Rowland in Seminole.
Everhart worked as executive director of the Seminole Housing Authority before retiring in 1990. He had served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of Temple of Praise Church. He was a Mason and a Shriner Clown.
Preceding him in death were his wife, parents, one brother and two sisters.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Sandy Everhart of Seminole; grandchildren, Tiffany Everhart, Zachary Eads and Ashley Eads, all of Seminole; brother, Walter Everhart of Henryetta, Texas; and his sisters, Esta Wright of Wellston and Yula Daniels of Kingman, Ariz.
Graveside services
will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Historic Strothers Chapel at Maple Grove Cemetery. The Rev. Harold Turner will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

E.B. "Buck" Myers Jr., Shawnee, died Sunday.

Dorothy Felton
Dorothy Felton died Friday at South Park Health Care Center in Oklahoma City. The Seminole resident was 82.
She was born in Ada on Dec. 23, 1918, the daughter of Earl Edgar Clark and Maude Virginia (Jackson) Clark. She graduated from East Central University in Ada and had also attended OSU. She was licensed to teach in 1950. Felton taught at Seminole Public Schools and retired in 1982.
She worked as a counselor, girls basketball coach and speech therapist for Seminole Public Schools. Felton also worked at the admissions gate for football and basketball games.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Seminole.
On Sept. 16, 1938, she and Cecil Felton were married in Ada.
Preceding her in death were her husband, parents and one brother.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Dewey and Francis Felton of Shawnee; daughter and son-in-law, Rajeana and Ed Brown of Oklahoma City; brother and sister-in-law, Adolph and Myrtle Clark of New Orleans, La.; granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Dawn and Mike Colvin of Las Vegas, Nev., JoAnn and Bill Hill of Oklahoma City, Tammi and Joe Edwards of Yukon and Cindi and Robert Smith of Phoenix, Ariz.; and eight great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole. Dr. James Sill will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Harry Lloyd Roughton
Harrah resident Harry Lloyd Roughton, 76, died Sunday.
He was born in McLoud on Dec. 7, 1924, the son of Harry and Neva Roughton.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, from 1942 to 1952. Roughton had earned the rank of tech sergeant. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1955. He then completed his service at Tinker Air Force Base, working as production controller. He retired in 1972.
Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters, Zelma West and Lorene Clark.
Survivors include his wife Mary McElwee Roughton; daughters and sons-in-law; Karen and Danny Bacino of Hawaii, Terri and Greg Ward of Edmond, Brenda and David Stamper of Harrah, Lori and Clif Gooding of Oklahoma City and Jennifer Crisp of Guthrie; sons and daughters-in-law, William "Billy" and Leslie Lisby of Harrah, Harry L. Roughton Jr. and wife Anita of Norman and Jeff Lair of Harrah; sisters and brothers-in-law, Viola and Morris Maloney of Midwest City, Dorothy and Gene Thomas of Arizona and Marjorie White of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Scott, Justin, Joshua, Dustin, Maranda, Tara, Kristi, Kyle, Kevin, Colby, Hannah and Rachael; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Asa Smith Funeral Service Chapel in Harrah. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in McLoud. Arrangements are under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service.
Frank Brown
Frank Brown, 70, died Sunday in a local hospital.
The son of Dave and Sudie Leard Brown was born in Maud on July 30, 1930.
He attended elementary school in Harjo and graduated from Konawa High School and Okmulgee Tech.
On Dec. 23, 1957, he and Janie Thompson were married in Shawnee.
Brown served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korea conflict and was discharged as airmen first class. He worked in procurement at Tinker Air Force Base before his 1986 retirement.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Julus "Bristow" Brown and Arthur and Golden Brown; brother-in-law Johnnie Thompson; and his father-in-law, Fay Thompson.
Survivors include his wife of the Tecumseh home; sons and daughter-in-law, David and Karen Brown of Shawnee and Donald Brown of Tecumseh; granddaughter Courtney Brown of Shawnee; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charles and Jean Thompson of Del City and Glen and Linda Thompson and Loyd and Marilyn Thompson, all of Dale; sister-in-law, Laverne Barker of McLoud; mother-in-law, Minnie Thompson of Dale and sister-in-law, Sue Thompson of Dale.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Dale Church of Christ with Dewayne Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
Kaleb Ivan Motley
Kaleb Ivan Motley, the 1-day-old son of Troy and Erin (Gravitt) Motley of McLoud died Saturday in an Oklahoma City hospital.
He was born May 25, 2001, in Oklahoma City.
His paternal grandfather, Gene Motley, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his parents of the home; sisters, Kirsten and Jacquelyn Motley; paternal grandmother, Joyce Motley; maternal grandparents, Joyce and Ben Gravitt; paternal great-grandmother, Irene Hall; and maternal great-grandmother, Doris Burham.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Dale Cemetery. The Rev. Rusty Williams will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
Geraldine Marie Norton
Longtime Shawnee resident Geraldine Marie Norton, 81, died Sunday in a local nursing home.
She was born March 7, 1920, in Shawnee to Ernie and Emmaline (Bishop) Watson. She graduated from Shawnee High School.
On Sept. 24, 1942, she married Wesley M. Clarida in Chandler. He was killed in the Battle of Mataur, North Africa, in 1943. She married Charles Edward "Ed" Norton on Nov. 1, 1947, in Enid. He preceded her in death Feb. 24, 1982.
Mrs. Norton was a homemaker most of her life. During World War II, she worked for Santa Fe Railroad in Richmond, Calif., later working for the Rock Island Railroad in Cushing. She also worked at Shawnee Sunset Estates Nursing Home.
She was a member of the First Church of God and was a former member the Pottawatomie County Democratic Leadership Club and the American Federation of Labor.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Surviving are her two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles "Chalk" and Doris Norton of Shawnee, and Sandy and Kay Norton of Las Vegas, Nev.; a daughter and son-in-law, Janie and Richard McNew of Chandler; four grandchildren, Alesa Dean Hampton, Brett Norton, Bradley James McNew and Matthew Norton, and one great-grandchild, Taryn Hampton.
Services will be 10 a.m. today at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Glenn Pence will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Shawnee, 1102 W. MacArthur, Shawnee.
Pauline Combs
Shawnee resident Pauline Combs died Sunday at the age of 84.
She was born April 9, 1917, in Sallisaw, the daughter of Jeff and Ora (McClanahan) Diffee. She was a Baptist.
Preceding her in death were her husband, James W. Combs, and two great-grandchildren, Christina Vitt and Jesse Hammer.
Survivors include her three children, Pat Bryan of Del City, James D. Combs of Shawnee and Glenna Ross of Del City; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren, and her brother, Bob Diffee of Midwest City.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at Hopewell Baptist Church. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Caskets, Inc., of Del City.
