Harry Thomas Fluharty
Shawnee resident Harry Thomas Fluharty died Sunday at a local hospital. He was 58.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Liberty Baptist Church, 711 E. Federal, under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bill Matthews and the Rev. Phil Thompson officiating.
Paul Odell Hamilton
Paul Odell Hamilton died Monday in Oklahoma City. He was 81.
He was born on Jan. 2, 1919, to Fred Hamilton and Florence Washington. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1984.
Survivors include his wife Dolores Doakes Hamilton of the home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Fairview Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. Burial will be in Arlington Memorial Gardens under the direction of Temple and Sons Funeral Directors.
Norma Jean Nichols
Norma Jean Nichols of Norman died Tuesday in Norman. She was 69.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Cooper Funeral Home.
Further arrangements are pending.
Melvin Leon Melton
Former Seminole resident Melvin Leon Melton of Norman died Tuesday. He was 70.
He was born Sept. 18, 1930, in Centrahoma, the son of Norman Leon Melton and Rosa (Driskell) Melton.
He married Carol Chew in 1971 in Colorado.
He owned and operated Lesco Mechanical Enterprises in Seminole from 1974 until his retirement in 1992, when he sold the business. He was a member of the Seminole Elks Lodge, board member of Wild Fire Estates, member of the Cape Girardeau, Missouri and Oklahoma Genealogical Societies.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Terry Wilson.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Melton of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Nadean Melton of Norman; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Pam Fitzwater of Tuttle; Pat Hunter of Norman; Gloria and Don David of Fort Worth, Texas; Melba and Randy Winfrey of Tuttle; Leona Gale and Scott Largent of Tuttle; two stepsons, Jim McDonald of Fayetteville, Ark.; Greg McDonald of Yukon; two brothers, Arnold Melton of Arizona and Donny Melton of Eufaula; two sisters, Wanda Pinkerton and Norma Jean Phillips both of Seminole; numerous grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mildred Fix officiating. There will be no open casket.
Swearingen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Everett C. Beeson
Everett C. Beeson of Lawton died Tuesday. He was 78.
Beeson was born Sept. 14, 1922, in Lawton. He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1940.
During high school he was a cheerleader and played tennis. He married Mable Plemmons on Dec. 26, 1948, in Lawton.
They were married 50 years in December 1998. Beeson served in the U.S. Army, serving three years in Europe during World War II.
He served as clerk in England for two years at the Port of Embarkation for soldiers leaving for the European theatre. He also was involved in the Battle of the Bulge.
Beeson came to Lawton following the war. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1949 with a degree in marketing.
Beeson was a member of First United Methodist Church. He sponsored and hosted foreign officers from Fort Sill.
Survivors include wife, Mable Beeson of the home; children, Carolyn S. Jordan, Anadarko; Richard Everett Beeson, Lawton; Teresa A. Browning, Grand Prairie, Texas; four grandchildren, Julie Cole, John Jordan, Vicki Browning, Walter Browning; nephew, Jack Phillips, Lawton.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Central Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ray Weathers, pastor of Bethel Baptist Church, Anadarko, officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Ruby Cornelia Wiegert
Ruby Cornelia Wiegert died Monday. She was 79.
She was born Nov. 11, 1920, to Arthur and Mary Ann Roper in Sayre.
She was married to Willie L. Wiegert on Sept. 21, 1942, in Sayre.
She was a member of the Blue Grass Club.
Mrs. Wiegert was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Mary Ann Roper; three sisters, Alice Roper, Ruth Lowry, Rosa Strange and one stepgranddaughter, Rayanne Vassar.
Survivors include her husband, Willie L. Wiegert of the home; one son, Donnie Wiegert of Harrah; one daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Leroy Howland of Choctaw; four grandsons, Dale Wiegert of Midwest City, Harley Wiegert and Katie of Harrah; Mike and Felicia Strange of Wellston, Mark and Tiffani Strange of Guthrie; three stepchildren, Rick and Gwen Howland of Edmond, Kim Berry of Norman, Julia and Doug Yontz of Lexington, Ky.; 10 great-grandchildren, Laura, Evan, Laci, Bob, Denver Jordan, Shelby, Haley, Chase, Allison and E.J.; five brothers, Lidge and Emma Roper of San Diego, Calif.; Kenneth and Wanda Roper of Quinlan, Texas; Earl and Ann Roper, Raymond and Arlene Roper, Gene and Bodil Roper all of Newalla; one sister-in-law, Mary Ruth Wiegert of McLoud; one brother-in-law, Cecil Strange of Buffalo; one very special friend, Pearl Shipley of Midwest City; numerous nieces, nephews and many other family and friends.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Asa Smith Funeral Chapel in Harrah with burial at Dale Cemetery.
Mae (Adams) Nix Woolery
Mae (Adams) Nix Woolery of Shawnee died Tuesday in Shawnee. She was 89.
She was born July 11, 1911, in Tecumseh to James and Rachel Matilda (Henderson) Adams.
Mrs. Woolery, who attended school at Ruggles, was reared south of Tecumseh and lived in Oklahoma City for 32 years.
She moved to Shawnee in 1992.
She was married to Fay Woolery, who preceded her in death in 1974.
Mrs. Woolery owned and operated a restaurant in Tecumseh and worked as a seamstress making drapes for homes.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Agnes Blessing and Vera Roper, and five brothers, Roy, Ray, Chester, Paul and Orville Adams.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Glen and Jaqueta Nix of Shawnee; two brothers, Jim Adams of Shawnee; Richard Adams of Nashville, Tenn.; two grandchildren and their spouses, Kathy and Randy Childers of Bethel; Glenna and Rick McElhany of Bethel; four great-grandchildren, Kyle Childers, Kris Childers, Jessica McElhany and Steven McElhany.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Glen Pence, Hospice of Shawnee chaplain, officiating. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery.
Lavinia E. (Danner) Holt
Lavinia E. (Danner) Holt of Shawnee died Tuesday at a local nursing home. She was 89.
She was born Dec. 18, 1910, in Sayre. She was the daughter of Charles and Ella Danner.
She was in sales at Oklahoma Office Supply and also a homemaker. She married J.W. (Bill) Holt Aug. 27, 1927, in Shawnee.
She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church for 68 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Holt; daughter, Mariella Russell McNatt, daughter-in-law, Patricia Holt; a brother, Carl Danner, and a grandson, Rick Holt.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jack Holt, Aurora, Colo.; Donald and Norma Holt, Wimberly, Texas; Carl and Ruby Holt, Shawnee; 12 grandchildren, Brad Holt, Portland, Texas; Kira Holt, Wimberly, Texas; Ken Holt, Parker, Colo.; Teresa Barrazza, Mesquite, Nev.; Angie Sullivan, Moore; Becky Snider, Louisville, Ky.; Debbie Miller, Mike Russell, Ronda Nuanez all of Louisville, Ky.; Doug Russell, San Diego, Calif.; Dr. Carl Holt Jr., Big Rapids, Mich. and David Holt, Clearfield, Utah; 27 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Immanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Sam Hendry officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.

Bonnie Mae Cowan
Bonnie Mae Cowan, Okemah, died Wednesday at a local hospital. She was 89.
She was born Aug. 15, 1911, in Okfuskee County to John Luther Cowan and Clara Ida Kennedy Cowan.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and had been an Okemah resident all of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and sisters.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Okemah with the Rev. Don Lehman officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
