Mary M. Dossey
Mary M. Dossey of Dale died Friday at a local nursing home. She was 89.
She as born Aug. 30, 1910, in Marlow to Charles Givins Bly and Mary Elizabeth (West) Bly.
She attended Dale High School.
She married Hugh E. Dossey on Sept. 8, 1928, in Tecumseh. She was a homemaker.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Hugh; son, Terry Wayne Dossey; and sons-in-law, Grady Bentley and Charles Burrows.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Margurette Bentley and Ann Burrows, both of Alpharetta, Ga., and Yvonne and Bill Sibley of Shawnee; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Glenda Dossey of Porum; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. today at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Dale Cemetery with Dewayne Thomas officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
Sheila Diane Smith
Sheila Diane Smith of Tecumseh died Wednesday at her residence. She was 38.
She was born May 6, 1962, in Santa Paula, Calif. She was the daughter of Charlie and Dorothy (Pixley) Pitts.
She attended Santa Paula grade schools, and graduated from Shawnee High School in 1980. She was formerly a recording coordinator at Christian World Recording Studios.
She married Clinton Whited in April 1981 in Shawnee. She later married Kevin Smith of Tecumseh.
She was a member of the Evangelistic Center Church. She moved to Shawnee in 1976 and later moved to Tecumseh.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Lula Pixley and Charlie and Carrie Pitts.
Survivors include parents, Charlie and Dorothy Pitts, Tecumseh; two daughters, Skye Rachelle Whited, Tecumseh; Kendra Nicole Smith, Tecumseh; two brothers, Bill Pitts, Tulsa; Jim Pitts, Tecumseh; one sister, Cathy (Pitts) Followwill, Tecumseh.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mickie Keith and Bishop Ron Wuerch of Tulsa officiating. Burial will be at Neal Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been set up at First United Bank in Shawnee under the Sheila Smith Memorial.
Deloris V. Dabbs
Former Shawnee resident Deloris V. Dabbs died Thursday in Shawnee. She was 67.
She was born Sept. 5, 1932, in Healdton, Okla.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Oak Park Church of God in Shawnee.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her daughter, Vonna L. Dabbs; granddaughter Catissa Marie Dabbs and sister Wanda Whitmire.
Surviving are her husband, Lewie E. Dabbs of Ryan, Okla.; her sons, Lewie Elston Dabbs Jr. of Shawnee and Loyd D. Dabbs of Shawnee; daughters Lisa Rene Dollins of Shawnee; Robertta V. Lee of Shawnee, LaQuita L. Dabbs, Shawnee, Robin E. Cain, Shawnee and Catrinna L. Smith, Shawnee; and four grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Baggerly Chapel, Edmond. Burial will follow at Gracelawn Cemetery under the direction of Baggerly Chapel.
Visitation will from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Baggerly chapel.
Deola Nesmith Carley
Deola Nesmith Carley died Tuesday in Dallas, Texas. She was 73.
She was born on July 15, 1927, to Marvin and Mary Nesmith. She attended Prayer Valley Schools and was raised in Little, Okla. She was married to Ramon Carley and worked for Dresser Oil Co. She was a member of the Highway Baptist Church as a child and a member of the Oak Cliff Christian Church in Dallas.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include two sons, Mark and Les Carley, both of Texas, two granddaughters and one sister, Norma Jean Edwards of Del City.
Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday in the Little Cemetery under the direction of Oak Cliff Funeral Chapel of Dallas. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Leroy Camren
Leroy Camren died Wednesday in Prague. He was 66.
He was born Nov. 6, 1933, in Oklahoma City. He was the son of Clarence Camren and Bessie (Maynard) Allen.
He had been a resident of the Prague area since 1975. He retired from Harter Concrete Block, where he was a foreman and where he worked for more than 25 years.
He also worked as a pipefitter at Allied Materials in Stroud and drove a school bus for Prague Schools for three years. He married Vera Moss on Jan. 5, 1952, in Oklahoma City.
He was preceded in death by his father, one sister and one brother.
Survivors include his wife, Vera Camren of the home, Prague; one daughter and son-in-law, Wilma and Mark Snow, Willow; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mike Camren and wife, Lisa, Prague; Paul Camren and fiancé, Ponna Brown, Prague; his mother, Bessie Allen, Eufaula; one brother, Robert Camren, Oklahoma City; two sisters, Edna Varnell, Oklahoma City; Carolyn Woods, Oklahoma City; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Assembly of God in Prague with Pastor Kevin Wehrli officiating. Burial will be in the Stroud Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague.
Shawna Bruce
Shawna Bruce died Wednesday in Oklahoma City. She was 27.
She was born Oct. 21, 1972, in Shawnee. She was the daughter of Vernon Wayne and Louise Mae (Koch) Bruce.
She was a resident of Meeker. She graduated from Meeker High School in 1992 and was a member of the Horton Chapel Nazarene Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, maternal grandparents and her paternal grandfather.
Survivors include her mother, Louise Bruce of the home, Meeker; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Linda and Charles Newby, Meeker; Marilyn Bruce, Meeker; her paternal grandmother, Anna Bruce, Meeker; two nieces, Lorri and Melissa Newby, Meeker.
Viewing and visitation will be at the Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Meeker until 8 p.m. Friday.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Horton Chapel Nazarene Church with Dwain Young and Roy Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the Rossville Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague.
Paul David Lewis
Former area resident Paul David Lewis of Gunter, Texas, died Wednesday. He was 41.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Checotah.
Tom Lipinski
Former Shawnee resident Tom Lipinski of Harrah died Monday. He was 54.
Lipinski was born Sept. 14, 1945, in San Fernando, Calif., to Thomas and Helen (Goddard) Lipinski.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served on the Nicoma Park/Harrah 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Council. He also served as past grand knight of the Edmond Council, district deputy, state warden, state advocate, faithful navigator of the 4th Degree of the Edmond Council and past grand knight of the Harrah Council. He was instrumental in organizing the Chandler/Meeker Council and was currently serving as trustee of the Nicoma Park/Harrah Knights of Columbus Council.
He graduated from St. Gregory's College with an associate of science degree. After serving four years in the U.S. Navy as a clinical laboratory technician, he attended East Central Oklahoma State University and received a bachelor of science degree. He then became senior agriculture resources inspector of the Oklahoma State Department of Agriculture.
Survivors include his wife, Judy, of the home; two daughters, Angela Lawson, Texas; Leslie Sullivan, Tennessee; sister, Susan Lipinski, Shawnee; six grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild.
Wake services were held Wednesday at St. Teresa's Catholic Church. Mass will be 10 a.m. today at St. Teresa's. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Shawnee under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service.
Robert Cleo Brannon
Earlsboro resident Robert Cleo Brannon died Monday at a Shawnee hospital. He was 83.
Brannon was born Oct. 24, 1916, in Earlsboro to Robert and Nellie (Ennis) Brannon. He had lived in California for 16 years and in Oklahoma for 67 years.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received a Philippine Liberation ribbon and a Good Conduct medal.
He was a self-employed farmer and rancher and also worked in construction. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Earlsboro.
Survivors include his son, Robert Earl Brannon, Mira Loma, Calif.; two daughters, Joyce Ann (Brannon) Showers and Karyn Denise Brannon, both of Moreno Valley, Calif.; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, three brothers, Isaac Brannon, Shawnee; Alfred Brannon and Henry Brannon, both of Earlsboro; and two sisters, Bulena Brannon, Inglewood, Calif., and Juanita Brannon, Earlsboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Roger Harris officiating. Burial will be in Earlsboro Cemetery.
