Pearl May Daley
Shawnee resident Pearl May Daley died Tuesday in Shawnee. She was 97.
Mrs. Daley was born Dec. 22, 1902, in Hollis, to A.B. and Texie Ann (Tice) Shaw.
She married Charlie Russell Daley on April 15, 1920, in Tecumseh.
Mrs. Daley was a homemaker, and a member of First Church of the Nazarene.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Daley; her parents, A.B. and Texie Shaw; four brothers; and a daughter-in-law, Virginia Daley.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Naomi and George "Newt" Compton, Shawnee; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Lou Daley, Shawnee; five grandchildren, Darla Compton Clements, Russell Compton, Terry Compton, Jerry Compton, and Larry Daley; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. today at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel in Shawnee, with the Rev. Richard Dickinson officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
Violet Irene Tarpey
Violet Irene Tarpey, 92, died Thursday at Shawnee Care Center.
She was born Dec. 6, 1907, in Coyle to James William and Minnie Amney (Fouts) Lowe. She married William Paul Tarpey on Dec. 24, 1930, in Stillwater. He preceded her in death in 1944.
Mrs. Tarpey graduated from Coyle High School in 1929 and attended Oklahoma State University, where she received her teacher's certificate. She taught elementary school throughout Oklahoma until 1935.
She was a member of First Christian Church and had been past president of BPW, Payne County Extension Club secretary and Pleasant View 4-H leader for 60 years.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul Rex and Cheryl Tarpey, Glenn Carbon, Ill.; Richard William and Teresa M. Tarpey, Shawnee; daughters and sons-in-law, Mable Jean and William H. Maxon, Peculiar, Mo.; Martha Joyce and Roy Waters, Pawnee; eight grandchildren, Stephen Paul Tarpey, Bruce William Tarpey, Jennifer Elizabeth Tarpey, Sophia Joyce Smither, William Paul Maxon, Randy William Tarpey, Russell Wayne Tarpey and Rex Wade Tarpey; 10 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Leonard L. and Thelma Lowe, Stillwater.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Gladys, and her parents.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church with Dr. Bill Inglish officiating. Burial will be at Fairlawn Cemetery, Stillwater, under the direction of Strode Funeral Home.

Lois Murphy
Lois "Bobbie" Murphy, McLoud, died Wednesday in McLoud. She was 83.
Mrs. Murphy was born Dec. 31, 1916, in Pryor, the daughter of William H. and Martha Louise Rhodes.
She grew up in Pryor, and lived in Texas and Oklahoma. She had lived in Pottawatomie County for the past year.
Mrs. Murphy was a beautician and hostess and manager of many restaurants.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and a brother.
Survivors include her three daughters and two sons-in-law, Martha and Harold Trousdale, Shawnee; Joyce and Tom Ray, Wilburton; Judy Youngblood, Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held at a later date, under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
Charles Bray
Charles "Pete" Bray died Thursday in Chandler. He was 81.
Services are pending under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague.
Elizabeth Johnson
Elizabeth (Smith) Johnson died Sunday in Ada. She was 90.
Mrs. Johnson was born July 8, 1910, in Hughes County to Seper and Emma (Taylor) Smith. She was raised in the Hughes County area.
Survivors include her daughters, Ramona Wolf, of the home; Rechinta Youmans, Holdenville; son, Richard Deo, Shawnee; niece, Wilma Dunn, Sapulpa; cousin, Katie Hawkins, Stillwater; 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wesley Johnson, in 1982; brother, Elliot Sewell; and three sisters, Ellen Cummings, Daisy Smith and Louise Smith.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. today at Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Johnson Roberts officiating. Burial will be at Holdenville Cemetery.
Rebecca May Swearingen
Rebecca May Swearingen died Saturday in Visalia, Calif. She was 92.
Mrs. Swearingen was born May 6, 1908, in Shawnee to Joseph and Ester Orr.
She and her husband, Claude, moved to Visalia in 1941. She was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include Collenn and Joe Camara, Tulare, Calif.; Delores and Harry Kassebaum, Fresno, Calif.; Duane and Shirley Swearingen, Visalia; Sandra and Lee Nilmeier, Fresno; son-in-law, Bill Higgins, Hanford, Calif.; sister, Agnes Smith, Shawnee; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude; daughter, Claudena Higgins; and granddaughter, Jennifer Higgins.
Graveside services
will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Visalia District Cemetery with Dr. Howard E. Clark of Visalia First Baptist Church officiating under the direction of Miller Memorial Chapel, Visalia.
Memorials may be made to any charity.
Susan T. Flowers
Shawnee resident Susan T. Flowers died Monday. She was 54.
Services will be Thursday, under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home. Further information is pending.
Donald Gregg
Longtime Chandler resident Donald Gregg died Monday in Oklahoma City. Services are pending with Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Chandler.
Wilbur Phelps Berry
Wilbur Phelps "W.P." Berry died Sunday in Chandler. He was 86.
He was born Feb. 27, 1914, in Aurora, Mo. He was the son of Clyde Raymond and Lennie Pearl (Turner) Berry.
Berry married Hazel Campbell on Oct. 11, 1932, in Davenport. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Chandler for many years.
He worked as a pipe fitter and welder and was a member of the Plumber and Pipe Fitter Local 344.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one daughter and two brothers.
Survivors include two sons, Clyde Raymond Berry of Overland Park, Kan.; Ronnie Berry of Chandler; one daughter, Phyllis Raby of Mangum; one sister, Virginia Braden of Oklahoma City; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and other relatives and many friends.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Church of Christ Chandler with Jeremi Beller and J.R. Patterson officiating. Burial will be at Davenport Cemetery, under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Chandler.
W.R. Jones
Prominent businessman W.R. "Ralph" Jones died Saturday at a Midwest City hospital. He was 92.
He was born May 22, 1908, in Murray, Ky., to William Curtis and Sina (Dulaney) Jones. He attended school in Murray.
He was founder of W.R. Jones Clothing Company and owned Wackers in Norman.
He married Frances (Barber) Jones on Dec. 6, 1930, in Ohio. He was a member of McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church of Norman, member of the Lions Club for many years and a Garden Club member in Norman.
He lived in Detroit, Murray, Ky., Oklahoma City and had lived in Norman for 35 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Jones, in 1996; son, Dick, in 1998; grandson, Jeff, in 1983.
Survivors include daughter-in-law, Sandra (Jones) Melhouse of Shawnee; two granddaughters, Kelley and Steve Chlouber of Shawnee; Kimberly and Jared Cahill of Albuquerque, N.M.; two great-grandsons, Cade and Cole Chlouber of Shawnee; two sisters, Mildred Story of Michigan; Francis Lee Young of Michigan and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services were held Monday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Thomas and the Rev. Phil Fenn officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Oklahoma City, under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
