Paul Harrison
Paul Harrison died Friday in Shawnee. He was 80.
He was born May 30, 1920, in Miami, Okla., the son of Ben and Lillie (Mills) Harrison.
He married Bernice (Robertson) Harrison on March 30, 1954, in Bristow. He was a longtime resident of Chandler.
He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. He was as a farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bernice; one son, David; and one brother.
Survivors include four daughters, Glenda Newton of Chandler, Brenda Foster of Carney, Pam Lindsey of Chandler and Paulette Harrison of Chandler; two brothers, Ben Harrison Jr. of California and Leroy Harrison of Sapulpa; four sisters, Geraldean Brace of Washington, Lenora Meyers of California, Wynonna Dowdy of Yukon and Shirley Harrison of Texas; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and other relatives and many friends.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Parkland Cemetery, Parkland with the Rev. Louis Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the Parkland Cemetery under the direction of the Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Chandler.
Ruth Camp Carey
Ruth Camp Carey of Shawnee died Monday at a local nursing home. She was 96.
She was born Sept. 28, 1903, in Wellington, Kan. She was the daughter of John Roland and Minnie (Newbold) Camp.
She graduated from Blackwell High School where she was a member of the girl's basketball team and a class officer. She attended Phillips University and the University of Colorado.
Before her marriage she taught in the Elementary School System of Wellington for six years, including two years serving as principal of the First Ward School.
She married Leonard Carey, who served in the state legislature and was a practicing attorney in Shawnee for more than 50 years. He was also a World War I veteran and served with the American Expeditionary Force in France.
Mrs. Carey was a member of the St. Paul's Methodist Church and for many years was the secretary of the church's Junior Department.
She was a member of the Thursday Bridge Club, Monday Book Club, The Republican Women's Organization and was a volunteer worker at the Shawnee Medical Center Clinic. She was a resident of Shawnee for 70 years.
She came from a politically active family, including her brother, the late John N. Camp, who was a Republican congressman from Garfield County.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Robert D. and Judy Carey, Fayetteville, Ark.; grandson and wife, Michael J. and Kelley Carey, Fayetteville, Ark.; grandson, James C. Carey, Fayetteville, Ark.; one great-granddaughter, Madison Elizabeth Carey, Fayetteville, Ark.; four nieces and nephews, John Camp III, Lubbock, Texas; Stephen Richard Camp, Largos, Nigeria; Patricia Rainey, Anderson Island, Wash.; Kay Dillingham, Enid.
Services will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Trinnette Smith officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Methodist Church.
Alberta Mae (Marriott) Martin
Alberta Mae (Marriott) Martin died Sunday at the age of 92.
She was born Nov. 20, 1908, to Jim and Dora "Ott" Marriott in New Lima. She was raised in the New Lima area and attended Lima schools.
She married Oscar Carl Martin on Jan. 26, 1926, in Wewoka. She was a member of the Hilltop Freewill Baptist Church in Wewoka.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter Juanita Hutchison, three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include one brother, Charley Marriot of Arkansas, five grandchildren, Tommy Hutchison of Wewoka, Terry and Gwen Hutchison of McAlester, Patricia Byerly of Tecumseh, Vicki and Bill Fleming of Clinton and Keith and Yvette Hutchison of New Lima, one nephew, Jimmy and wife Beverly Bowden of Payson, Ariz., 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Hilltop Freewill Baptist Church in Wewoka with the Rev. Russell Ryker officiating. Burial will be in the Rest Haven Memorial Garden in Seminole under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.
Beulah Glendola Martinez
Beulah Glendola Martinez died Friday at the age of 79.
She was born March 13, 1921, in Parkland to Earl and Emma (Marshall) Wright. She married Pete V. Martinez in Parkland. She worked as a school cook and was a member of the Church of the First Born in Parkland.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include three sons, Charles R. Martinez of Dallas, Texas, Danny R. Martinez of Valley View, Texas, and Cleo A. Martinez of Oklahoma City, two daughters, Saundra K. Bond and Darlene Herrmann, both of Agra, 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of the First Born in Parkland. Kenneth Herring and Bill Dobbs will officiate under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Chandler. Burial will be in the Parkland Cemetery.
Floyd Howard Ross
Floyd Howard Ross died Sunday in Midwest City. He was 59.
He was born on Oct. 27, 1940, in Indianola to Johnnie James and Lillie Mae (Tripp) Ross. He was a resident of Oklahoma City and a cabinet maker. He married Ruth Thomason on Sept. 13, 1962, in Oklahoma City,
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ross of the home; three brothers, Bill Ross of Eufaula, Donnell Ross of Elk City and Wayne Ross of Oklahoma City; and two sisters, Linda Purcellie of Oklahoma City and Ruth Whiteman of Meeker.
Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Rossville (Okla.) Cemetery. Dwain Young will officiate under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Chandler.
Jacquard Dominique Harrison
Jacquard Dominique Harrison died Sunday at a local hospital. Services are pending with Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
Wilburn Hawes
Former Seminole resident Wilburn "Terry" Hawes of Jacksonville, Fla., died Friday at his home. He was 61.
He was born July 3, 1939, in Chickasha to Wilburn Henry Hawes and Bonnie (Collins) Hawes.
He attended Seminole High School in 1956-57. He graduated from high school at Fairfax.
He lived in various central Oklahoma cities until he joined the Navy in 1957. He married Barbara Price Hawes Dec. 30, 1989, in Jacksonville, Fla.
He retired from the U.S. Navy as a senior chief petty officer. Hawes was also a civil service worker and president of Stewart-Hawes, Inc., Mandarin Overhead Doors Company, Jacksonville, Fla.
He was a Baptist and member of Fleet Reserves Association. He received awards for his yard work.
He was preceded in death by his father and his father-in-law, Gene Price.
Survivors include mother, Bonnie Hawes of Bristow; wife, Barbara (Price) Hawes of the home; one daughter, Lisa "Sis" Glynn of Smyrna, Tenn.; six sons, Terry Gene Hawes of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; Ron Hawes of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; Cpt. Bill Hawes of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Jeff Stewart of Jacksonville, Fla.; Jay Stewart of Okemah; and Tim Stewart of Prague; a brother, Michael Hawes of Bartlesville; two sisters, Nancy Beth Freeman of Tulsa and Trudy McWhirt of Cushing; mother-in-law, Faye Price of Seminole; the mother of his children, Margaret Farrington of Greencove Springs, Fla.; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Downing officiating. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole.
Delbert Ray Raper
Delbert Ray "Red" Raper, 69, Asher died Monday at his home.
He was born Oct. 4, 1930, in Maud. He was the son of John Andy Raper and Nana (Eaton) Raper.
Raper, a heavy equipment operator, was a lifetime resident of the Asher/Maud area.
Raper was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Phyllis Tatum of St. George, Kan.; one brother and sister-in-law, Darrell and Linda Raper of Kingston; one sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Bob Reider of Kingston; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Maud with the Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Services are under the direction of Knight Funeral Home, Maud.
Jackie Hand
Jackie Hand died Friday at the age of 63.
She was born on Dec. 18, 1936, in Atoka to Carl and Thelma (Boling) Bonham.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jerry and Rhonda Hand of Choctaw and Larry Hand of Newalla; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sheryl and Kevin Berry of Midwest City and Tracy and Michael Kennedy of Harrah; grandchildren, Shaun and Megan Bradley, Michael and Summer Bradley, Cory Hand, Rachel Hand of Choctaw, Christin Kennedy of Harrah, Michaela Kennedy of Harrah, Haley Kennedy of Harrah; her mother, Thelma Cooper of Meeker; one sister, Jean Vandenburg of Choctaw and many other family members and friends.
Services will be held 10 a.m. today at the First Assembly Church in Choctaw. Burial will be in the Bera Cemetery of Atoka under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service.
Richard Randolph Lackey
Richard Randolph Lackey, 79, died Saturday in a local hospital.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. today in the Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dan Reihing officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery.
