Simon Hubler
Services for Simon "George" Hubler, 77, Shawnee, will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Gore.
Burial will follow in Stevenson Cemetery, Gum Springs.
Hubler died Wednesday in Shawnee.
He was born April 24, 1921, in Gore to Peter Penrose and Ella Josephine (Powell) Hubler.
At 16, he attended the Civilian Conservation Corps camp in Grand Junction, Colo. He worked at Lakeside Butter Company until it closed, then at Arkola Sand and Gravel until his retirement in 1983.
He moved from Muskogee to Shawnee in 1989. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He is survived by his companion, Ladonna Ellis, of the home; son Jerry Lee Chanee, Miami; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Anna Mae and Earnest Kennie; Ella (Josie) Swearingen; Mary Mannon; Francis and Harold Sumpter; and Hazel and Lewis Warren, all of Gore; six brothers and sisters-in-law, Peter Penrose and Jewel Hubler, Howard (Doug) and Ruth Hubler; and Lynn and Irma Hubler, all of Gore; John and Retha Hubler, Haskell; Frank and Charlene Hubler, Mesa, Ariz.; and Parley and Nettie Hubler, Vian; and other special family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Sylvia Hubler; second wife, Opal Hubler; and brothers-in-law, Eugene Swearingen and Earnest Mannon.
Arrangements are under the direction of Agent Funeral Home, Gore.
Charles H. Keithley
Charles H. Keithley of Shawnee died June 10 in an Oklahoma City hospital. He was 85.
He was born May 7, 1913, in Durant to Deroy Veal and Willie (Rich) Keithley Sr. He grew up and attended school in Durant and moved to Shawnee in 1961. He was employed in oil field exploration and, after retirement, he was in electronic repair.
He married Jewel Carter in Durant and she preceded him in death in 1987. He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church.
Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. James and Patricia Keithley, Norman; daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Larry Akins, Tecumseh; brother, D.V. Keithley, Durant; sister, Gladys Everett, Durant, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were his sons, Charles Keithley, Melvin Keithley, and daughter, Wanda Keithley.
Services were held June 12 at St. Benedict Church with the Rev. Charles Massoth, O.S.B., officiating and burial was in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
Preston Ewing Inlow Jr.
Preston Ewing Inlow Jr. of Kansas City, Mo., died Monday at the age of 62.
Services will be 10 a.m. today at Dale United Methodist Church with the Rev. Russell Currie and Brig. Gen. Richard Proctor officiating. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
He was born Aug. 12, 1935, in El Reno to Ewing William and Mary Louisa (Smith) Inlow. He attended Oklahoma City University and St. Paul's School of Theology. He was a supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service.
He married Charlotte Currie on Feb. 7, 1957, in Dale.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte, of the home; three children, Rusti Lea Inlow, Shawnee; Rob Dee Inlow, Dearborn, Mo.; Rhonda Rea Mize, Oklahoma City; three grandchildren and a half brother, John Terneus, Yukon.
His parents preceded him in death.
Joe Milton Crosby Sr.
Earlsboro resident Joe Milton Crosby Sr. died Friday in Shawnee. He was 71.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Dwyane Dennis officiating. Burial will be at Little Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Chapel, Tecumseh.
Crosby was born Feb. 22, 1927, in McLean, Texas, to C.C. and Becky (McDaniel) Crosby. He married Fay Hughes in Shawnee on Aug. 29, 1958.
Crosby attended Liberty and Prairie Valley Schools in Seminole County and Shawnee High School. Following his service with the United States Army Air Corps during World War II he attended Southwest Photo School in Dallas.
Crosby moved to Little, Okla., in 1937 and then to Shawnee in 1943. He moved to Earlsboro in 1947.
Crosby worked at McAnally's Photo, Ada, and later worked at Baptist Hardware before working at Tinker Air Force Base as an offset photographer. He retired in 1982 and had pumped a well for Mack Energy for the past 12 years.
He was a charter member of the Earlsboro Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Earlsboro Clown Troop, the Earlsboro Lions Club and was a life member of DAV Chapter No. 54. He also was a member of the Earlsboro Booster Club and the Pottawatomie Genealogical Club and attended Central Church of Christ, Shawnee.
Survivors include his wife Fay Crosby, of the home; sister, Grace Davis, Eldorado, Kan.; sister and brother-in-law, Ann and James Vanlandingham, Earlsboro; brother, Gene Crosby, Boise, Idaho; sister-in-law, Nora Cole, Drumright; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Joe M. "Joey" Crosby Jr.; brother, C.C. Crosby Jr.; and two brothers-in-law.
Essie M. McCall
Shawnee resident Essie M. McCall, 90, of Shawnee died Wednesday, Sept. 2, at a local nursing home.
Funeral services
will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bill Matthews and the Rev. Phil Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Roesch-Walker.
McCall was born Sept. 28, 1907, near Hot Springs, Ark., to Dave and Delilah Menser.
She was a homemaker and also worked for a number of years at Independence Manor Nursing Home.
She married Clarence Dale McCall on Nov. 26, 1924, in Pauls Valley, Okla. They lived most of their married lives in Shawnee.
McCall was a member of Liberty Baptist Church who enjoyed bowling.
Survivors included a son, James Dale McCall of Lahoma, Okla.; a daughter, Barbara Ann Allred of Duncan, Okla.; two sisters, Alva Jeffreys of Pomona, Calif., and Lillian McDonald of Sun City, Ariz.; three brothers, Vernon Menser of Cushing, Okla., David Menser of Amarillo, Texas, and Paul Menser of Yuma, Ariz.; nine grandchildren, Jimmie Dale, Bobby and Mark McCall, Barbara Nell Ratcliff, Paula Clinkenbeard, Jack Trammell, Susan Morrow, Connie Swan and Lonnie Crouch; 21 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on July 31, 1976; two daughters, Lahunta Juanita Leaverton and Ellna Pauline Hall; two brothers, Vodra Menser and Lawrence Menser; and a granddaughter, Linda Sue Matheson.
Maxine Presley
Former Seminole resident Maxine Presley died Friday in Enid. She was 75.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joe Faircloth officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Presley was born Feb. 16, 1923, in Scipio, Okla., to Hobert McKinley and Orene Raines Hoover. She married James Lonzo Presley on Sept. 28, 1940, in Seminole.
Presley attended Bowlegs Schools and lived in Seminole until 1959.
She was a member of The First Church of God in Seminole and the Ladies Missionary Society.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Janice (Presley) and Bill F. Vickers, Enid; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Jean Hoover, Tecumseh; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, in 1991; and a sister.
Lillian Juanita Simpson
Ada resident Lillian Juanita Simpson, 74, died Friday in Wanette.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Criswell Chapel with the Rev. Darren Massey officiating. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home, Ada.
Simpson was born Sept. 11, 1923, in Worstell, Okla., to Thomas Roy and Mable Bunch Choate. She married Brower Simpson on June 23, 1961.
She attended Worstell schools and was a member of the Worstell Church of God of Prophecy. She was employed by Dollar General Store in Ada.
Survivors include her husband, Brower "Slats" Simpson, Clinton; daughters, Linda Parmer, Sumter, S.C.; Pamela Simpson, Dallas, Ore.; Hilda Davis, The Netherlands; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Carl Cobb, Wanette; step-daughter, Lou Jean Ebrite, Edmond; step-son, James Earl (Tony) Simpson, California; brothers, Thomas Doyle Choate, Sand Springs; Kenneth Choate and Donald Choate, both of Ada; Loren Choate, Cushing; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Janie Mae Davis and her son, Thomas B. Turner Jr.
