Veldeen Mae Grainger
Shawnee resident Veldeen Mae Grainger died Wednesday at a Norman hospital. She was 69.
Services will be 3 p.m. Friday at Resthaven Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Bob Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
Mrs. Grainger was born Feb. 20, 1929, in Wellston, to Vernal M. and Freeman R. Nelson. She attended school in Shawnee and married Albert George Grainger on Feb. 2, 1969. She lived in the Shawnee area for 60 years.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 43, and the Church of Christ in Tecumseh. Mrs. Grainger worked for Sylvania and Tinker Air Force Base.
Survivors include her sisters, Norma Jean Nichols of Norman, Betty Cox of Granbery, Texas, Barbara Martin of Tecumseh; and several other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Glen Peeler.
Wyatt Cobb
Shawnee resident Wyatt Cobb died Tuesday at a local hospital at the age of 64.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Shady Grove Cemetery under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.
Cobb was born Dec. 28, 1933, in Indianola, Okla., to Thomas L. and Lula Mae (Edwards) Cobb. He attended Tecumseh Schools and married Theresa Cobb on Feb. 3, 1976.
He served in the U.S. Army Reserve and National Guard, and was a member of the Evangelistic Center.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa Cobb of Oregon; two sons, Thomas Cobb of Shawnee, Jerimiah Cobb of Oregon; a daughter, Virginia Cobb of Oregon; a sister, Laurine Luper of Casa Grande, Ariz.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Mickey Cobb.
Joseph M. Serrano
Shawnee resident Joseph M. Serrano died Wednesday at a local nursing home. He was 67.
Private services will be conducted under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.
Serrano was born Nov. 20, 1930, in Friona, Texas, to Nicolas and Petra (Vigil) Serrano. He attended school in Albuquerque, N.M., and served in the U.S. Navy.
He was a equipment operator for Brooks Construction Company and was a member of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include a brother, Dominic Serrano of Geary, Ind.; three sons and a niece.
Ronnie Gwendolyn Campbell
Lifelong Shawnee resident Ronnie Gwendolyn Campbell died Saturday in an automobile accident. She was 16.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with Rev. Janie Kirt Morris officiating.
Ronnie was born Sept. 21, 1981, in Shawnee to Ronnie Taldon and Teresa Louise (Meade) Campbell. She was a student at Tecumseh High School and was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include her parents, Ronnie Taldon Campbell and Teresa Louise Campbell, both of Shawnee; stepfather, Jackie L. Smith, Shawnee; brother, Seth Irl McDonnell, Shawnee; stepbrother, Floyd Ray Smith, Shawnee; sisters, Brandy Nicole McDonnell and Beverly Ann Cast, both of Shawnee; stepsister, Mary Beth Smith, Shawnee; grandparents, Paraylee and Lloyd Campbell, Shawnee; Nellie and Doug Hammer, Duncan; Irl Meade, Shawnee; great-grandparents, Mary Garcia, San Diego, Calif.; Everett and Glenna Meade, Shawnee; and many other relatives and friends.
Ralph Frank McCraw
Tecumseh resident Ralph Frank McCraw died Saturday in Tecumseh. He was 80.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at Cooper Funeral Chapel, Tecumseh, with the Rev. Robert Rider and Rev. Max McKee officiating. Burial will be in Mars Hill Cemetery.
McCraw was born Oct. 5, 1917, in Macomb to Frank and Merle (Johnson) McCraw. He married Velma McLaughlin on Sept. 18, 1939, in Wewoka.
McCraw attended school at Hope and graduated from Macomb High School in 1936. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1943 and flew 35 missions over Germany with the 445th Bombardment Group of the 8th Air Force. He served two years and was discharged as a staff sergeant.
He worked as a pipefitter in McAlester and Boise, Idaho. He began working in the physical plant at Oklahoma Baptist University in 1956 and retired in 1987.
McCraw was a member of the Oklahoma Fiddlers Association and the Tecumseh American Legion Hill-Huett Post No. 260.
Survivors include his wife, Velma McCraw, of the home; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Olivia and Clyde Voyles, Harrah; sister-in-law, Ruby McCraw, Howe, Okla.; brother-in-law, Richard Merel Claxton, Norman; five nieces; seven nephews; aunt, Ollie Johnson, Shawnee; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carl McCraw and Ray McCraw; sisters, Hazel McCormick and Mary Ash.
Sam Edgeman
Tecumseh resident Sam Edgeman died Saturday in Shawnee. He was 80.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel, Tecumseh, with Rev. Robert Rider officiating. Burial will be in Brown Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.
Edgeman was born Aug. 8, 1918, in Seminole County to Abner and Mamie (Sexton) Edgeman. He married Anna Louise Hogue on May 19, 1950, in Tecumseh.
Edgeman worked in maintenance at the Oklahoma Memorial Student Union at the University of Oklahoma and retired in 1991. He also raised Hereford cattle. He was a member of Pink Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Anna L. Edgeman, of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Harlena and Alan Mays, Freeport, Texas; Darlena and Joe Moore, Tecumseh; Dianna and Mark Seaton, Tecumseh; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Frances Hogue, Tecumseh; Mandy Lovell, Collinsville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, seven half-brothers and five half-sisters.
Evelyn Linch Wilson
Shawnee resident Evelyn Linch Wilson died Saturday in Neosho, Mo. She was 81.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with Michael Smith and Bob Huskey officiating. Burial will be in Inglewood Park Cemetery, Inglewood, Calif.
Wilson was born Aug. 27, 1916, in Porterville, Calif., to August George and Edith Bell (Stover) Wittenborn. She married Oscar Wilson on June 3, 1967, in Selmar, Calif.
Wilson moved to Shawnee in 1988 and was a member of Gordon Cooper Church of God.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty Jean Garges, California; son, James William Linch, Oregon; sister, Alberta Wycoff; brothers, Chester, Byron and Melvin Wittenborn; 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Needa Pearl Alley
Stroud resident Needa Pearl Alley died Saturday in Stroud. She was 88.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Assembly of God Church, Stroud, with the Revs. Max Alley, Don Wilburn and Bucky Alley officiating. Burial will follow at the Stroud Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Stroud.
Alley was born June 19, 1910, in Asher to Charley and May Della (Lassiter) Barnett. She married Jess Scott Alley on Feb. 12, 1928, in Depew.
Alley was a retired cook and nurses' aide. She had worked at the Stroud Hospital Miliham Clinic and the Stroud Health Care. She owned and operated Coney Island in Stroud. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Stroud.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Max and Goldie Alley, Broken Arrow; daughters and sons-in-law, Martha Jane and Leonard Cushing, Stroud; Marilyn Pearl and Terry Brown, Mustang; daughters, Mary Kathryn Anderson, Ada; Mollie Sue Pryor, Stroud; sisters, Reba Keeling, Keifer; Doris Davis, Ponca City; Margie Hodge, Slick; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jess Scott Alley, on Oct. 10, 1948; her parents, two brothers and her son, Martin Scott Alley, on April 11, 1961.
Geraldine V. Brown Meadows
Stroud resident Geraldine V. Brown Meadows died Monday in Oklahoma City. She was 65.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Parks Brothers Chapel, Stroud, with Rev. Charles Issler officiating. Burial will be in the Stroud Cemetery.
Meadows was born Feb. 14, 1933, in Stroud to William and Josie (Fry) Jordon. She married Harvey Meadows in Illinois in 1980.
Meadows had lived in Stroud for the last 17 years and was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stroud.
Survivors include her husband, Harvey Meadows, of the home; sons, Michael and John Catron, both of Stroud; Jordon and Mark Catron, both of Ohio; Harvey and Jeff Meadows, both of Illinois; daughters, Michele Standley, Felicia Arias, Glenda Meadows and Morgan Meadows, all of Stroud; Kathy Middleton and Valorie Hattner, both of Illinois; Debbie Mayes, Idabel; brothers, Frank Jordon, Illinois; Donald Jordon, Washington; Gilbert Jordon, California; sisters, Coleen Odle, Oklahoma; Julia Townsend, Connecticut; 27 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
