Lois Pauline Ferguson
Shawnee resident Lois Pauline Ferguson died Wednesday at a local hospital. She was 83.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Resthaven Memorial Park, Trinity Chapel, with the Rev. J.C. Farrand officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ferguson was born March 3, 1915, in Collinsville, Okla., to John C. and Pearl (Holmes) Taylor. She married Bill Ferguson.
She attended Shawnee schools and had worked for John Brown Co. She was a Baptist and was a member of the Tulsa Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her sons, Eugene, Charles and Gregory Ritchie; daughters, Cecilla Heathley, Carolyn Washburn and Eurlene Hudson; brother and sister-in-law, Boyce and Eunice Taylor; sister, Mildred Dunn; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two daughters, Patricia Ritchie and Deloris Ritchie.
Donald Lee Treat
Former longtime resident of Shawnee Donald Lee Treat died Sunday at his home in Wiley, Texas. He was 64.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Blackburn Chapel Cemetery, Shawnee.
He was born Jan. 28, 1934, in Shawnee to Arthur C. and Winnie P. (Bugg) Treat.
His mother preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Treat, Wiley, Texas; his father, Arthur C. Treat, Shawnee; sisters, Loretta Jones, Patricia Crook, both of Shawnee; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Renay Treat, Prague; Mike and Connie Treat, Fort Riley, Kan.; Raymond and Linda Treat, Shawnee; Robert Treat, Seminole; daughters and sons-in-law, La Tesha Treat; Lea Ann and Dewayne Cox, Earlsboro; Donna and Darrell Conway, Sapulpa; stepchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Zimmerman; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wilson, Texas; and Mr. and Mrs. Monty Moreau, Indiana.
Also 11 grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Shawn Treat, Shawnee; Buddy and Joseph Cox, Earlsboro; LaCrista and Steven Treat, Prague; Clinton Treat, Dale; Curtis and Lacie Treat, Moore; Tina, Crissy, and Sara Treat, Fort Riley, Kan.; eight stepgrandchildren; 10 stepgreat-grandchildren; longtime friend, Wayne Ware, Shawnee; and many others.
Sundene C. Fisher
Longtime area antiques dealer Sundene C. Fisher of Shawnee and Tecumseh died Friday in Tehachapi, Calif. She was 71.
She was born April 16, 1927, in Pontotoc to Henry and Bertie (Lewis) Cobble. She was reared and attended school in Pontotoc and graduated from high school there. She married Garner B. "Bud" Fisher in Wichita Falls, Texas, on Nov. 14, 1947.
Mrs. Fisher had worked at Wilson Packing Company and for the U.S. Postal Service in Oklahoma City. She also worked as a cashier at Newton Wall Company in Shawnee. For 25 years, she and her husband were antique dealers, doing business throughout the country and starting many of the swap meets in this area.
She was a member of Sharon Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents and one daughter, Denise Fisher.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Bud Fisher, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Lynn and Barry Jackson, Tehachapi, Calif.; grandchildren, Todd and Satsie Jackson, Shawnee; Aleasha Jackson, Heather Jackson, both of Tehachapi; two great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Jane Brumley, Gridley, Calif., and many other relatives.
Service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Chapel in Tecumseh with the Rev. Mick Cavanaugh officiating. Private burial service will be held at a later date.
Della Culpepper
Della Culpepper of Shawnee died Monday at the age of 88.
She was born Jan. 27, 1910, in Lumberton, Miss., the daughter of George and Mary (Breland) Warden. She was a graduate of McNeil (Miss.) High School. She had lived most of her life in Mississippi and moved to Shawnee in 1994. She had worked for Maison Blanche Department Stores in New Orleans, La., for more than 20 years.
She was a member of Goodyear Baptist Church in Picayune, Miss.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and four brothers.
Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Dixie and Edward Wagner, Shawnee; Jeanette Armstrong, Metairie, La.; Elizabeth and Jack Blevins, Wiseman, Ark., 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Resthaven Memorial Park with the Rev. Reed Lynn officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Chapel of Tecumseh.
Virgil Opal Sesher
Virgil Opal Sesher died Monday in an Oklahoma City hospital. She was 85.
She was born Nov. 25, 1912, in Newnata, Ark., the daughter of Abe and Annie Cooper Gower. In 1939 she married James Clinton "Clint" Sesher and he preceded her in death in September 1967. She was a nurse in Oklahoma City and moved to Okfuskee County in 1969. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Also preceding her in death were two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include two sons, John Sesher, Norman and Ralph Sesher, Edmond; daughter, Rita Hoover, Oklahoma City; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Highland Cemetery with Roger Thompson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Okemah.
Woodrow Thomas Anson, Jr.
Woodrow Thomas Anson, Jr., 61, Seminole, died Sunday at a local hospital.
He was born in Holdenville to Woodrow Thomas Sr., and Ella Irene Anson on Sept. 25, 1937. He married Mary Beatrice Roberts in Seminole on Jan. 14, 1956. He was self-employed and a member of First Baptist Church, Bowlegs.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1995 and his son, Anthony Gene "Tony" Anson in 1987.
Survivors include his mother, Seminole; his wife of the home; three sons, Gregory Thomas Anson, Seminole, James Kenneth Anson, Tecumseh, and Steven Randal Anson, Tecumseh; daughters Gidget Tilley, Seminole, and Connie Ann Robertson, Lawton; brothers David Harold Anson, Hartshorne, and Charles Lee Anson, Seminole; sisters Phyllis Barrett, Seminole, and Elizabeth Brooks, Wetumka; 11 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Bowlegs, with the Rev. Jason Yarbrough officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Seminole. Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
James Dewey Wagner
Former Shawnee resident James Dewey Wagner, 70, died Friday.
He was raised in Shawnee and served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean conflict. He moved to Abilene, Texas, in 1949 and worked for Southwestern Bell for four years before moving back to Shawnee. He married Margaret Ramay on Dec. 21, 1951, in Abilene.
He moved back to Abilene in 1958, working as a roofer and a city bus driver, among other jobs. He married Joann Beeland in Abilene on Oct. 17, 1987.
He moved to Shawnee in 1988 and drove No. 22 Shawnee school bus from 1980 to 1996. He moved back to Abilene in 1996.
He is survived by his wife, of the home; daughter Joanna Wagner Kinard, Tuscola, Texas; two sons Jim Wagner, Abilene, and Bobby Wagner, Highland's Ranch, Col.; six grandchildren; one stepchild; and sister Florett Hensicker, Oklmulgee.
Services will be held in Abilene at 10:30 a.m. Monday. Arrangements are under the direction of North's Funeral Homes, Abilene.
Mayme E. Bowen
Mayme E. Bowen, 88, Eufaula, died Saturday.
She was born Sept. 12, 1910, in Arkansas to George Washington and Melissa Louranda (Bolton) Johnston. She married Walter Bowen on Feb. 26, 1928, She moved to Shawnee in 1934 and to Eufaula in 1984. She was a member of the Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Lydia Bowen, Eufaula; daughter Mildred Mooney, Eureka Springs, Ark.; sister Jewell Young, Weston, Mo.; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, and nine brothers and sisters.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.
Rick Louis Machado
Rick Louis Machado, 23, Parkland, died Saturday.
He was born in Lubbock, Texas, on April 8, 1975, to Alfred and Margie (Villasana) Machado Herrman.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather.
Survivors include son Ricky L. Machado, Chandler; very special friend Amber Berry, Chandler; parents Elvis and Margie Hermann, Parkland; three brothers, Alfred Machado, Parkland, and Andrew Machado and Eddie Machado, Lubbock, Texas; three sisters, Helen Benavidez, Oklahoma City, Susan Machado, Clarksville, Tenn., and Sylvia Machado, Lubbock, Texas; grandmothers Trinidad Martinez, Lubbock, Texas, and Connie Machado, McPherson, Kan.; and other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Parkland Church of the First Born. Burial will be in Parkland Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Chandler.
