IMA J. NUNN

Ima J. Nunn, 66, of Henryetta died April 8, 2003 at Henryetta. She was born July 25, 1936 in Tiger Mountain, Oklahoma to Dora Ann and James Matthews.

She was married to Frank Nunn at Eufaula, Oklahoma on August 8, 1955. She was a homemaker and babysitter. She was preceded in death by her parents: James & Dora Matthews, one brother.

She is survived by her husband, Frank Nunn, of the home; 5 children, Glenda Nunn, Glenpool, Brenda Nunn, Glenpool, Barbara Hubbs & husband Kenneth, Henryetta, and Frank L. Nunn, Jr., Henryetta, Jeffrey Nunn & wife Peggy, Skiatook; 6 Grandsons, 2 brothers, Deroy Matthews & wife June, Henryetta, Delbert Matthews & wife Virginia, Weleetka, 3 sisters, Doris Gene Matthews, Sapulpa, June Nunn & husband Tom, Henryetta, Helen Brady & husband Richard, Sand Springs, a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives.

Graveside services will be held April 11, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Dustin Cemetery, with Rev. Larry Grissom, officiating. Services are under the direction of Shurden Funeral Home.

Charles Porter

Charles Ivan Porter, 75, a longtime Okmulgee resident died Tuesday, April 8, 2003. Memorial services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2003 at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Okmulgee. Arrangements are with the Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home of Okmulgee.

Mr. Porter was born on December 2, 1927 to Arthur and Susie (Deal) Porter in Beatrice, Nebraska. He was retired and was a veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include, wife, Juanita June Porter of the home; and several sisters in Ohio.

MICHAEL HAWTHORNE

Michael Jon Hawthorne, 41, of Beggs died Sunday, April 6, 2003. He was born July 5, 1961 in Canoga Park, Calif., to Carl A. and Alice Joan (Bush) Hawthorne.

He was a 1979 graduate of Beggs High School and then a 1984 graduate of Oklahoma State University with a degree in Geology. He worked as a geologist in the Oil, Gas and Water Industry.

Survivors include his parents; two daughters, Casey Rae Hawthorne and Micah Hawthorne of the home; two sisters Karla (Hawthorne) Chambers of Collinsville and Karen (Hawthorne) Flock of Bixby and a brother, Kevin Hawthorne of Lake City, Fla.

Memorial Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2003 at the First Baptist Church in Beggs with Brother Don Walker officiating. Services are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Beggs.

The family suggests that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of choice.

MARTHA MAY KOCH

Martha May Koch, 76, of Beggs passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2003 at Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Sapulpa. She was born September 13, 1926 to the late J.O. "Red" and Venita (Cochran) Goodman. She later married Roy E. Koch. He preceded her in death in August of 1977. She was a Graduate of Beggs High School and received two years of nurses training. Her family lived in the Tulsa/Broken Arrow area for several years and lived in Beggs for the past forty years. Mrs. Koch was a member of the First Baptist Church in Beggs.

Those preceding Mrs. Koch in death are her parents, Husband, and a daughter Vicki Susan Koch in December of 1991, a brother Quentin Goodman and a sister Elizabeth Goodman.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Melba Koch of Beggs; 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris and H.D. Aldridge of Beggs and Mollie and Don Hamilton of Muskogee; 4 brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Jimmie Goodman of Haughton, La., Sam and Berta Goodman of Tulsa, Kenneth and Vandetta Goodman of Keller, TX, and Lloyd and Jewell Goodman of Ft. Worth, TX ; 2 grand children, Richard Koch and Melanie Starr of Oklahoma City; one great granddaughter, Kailee Beth Starr of Oklahoma City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2003 at the First Baptist Church in Beggs with Reverend Don Walker officiating. Interment will follow in the Beggs Cemetery under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Beggs. Casketbearers will be Richard Koch, Ron Norris, Eric Fowler, Jack Lloyd, Bill Lee, and Rod Bell.

Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, 2003 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel in Beggs.

JAMES W. THORNBRUGH

James W. Thornbrugh, 67, a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away Sunday, April 13, 2003 in Tulsa Ok.

James was born on September 2, 1935 in Big Cabin, Oklahoma, the son of William and Inez Thornbrugh. He married Jeannette Dilley who preceded him in death on April 22, 2000. Besides his wife, his parents and one sister Jolene Griffith preceded him in death.

Survivors include fiancee Grace Adams, three sons; Kenneth Thornbrugh and fiancee Vicki Estes of Tulsa, Steve and wife Debbie Thornbrugh of Fort Gibson, Kevin and wife Jody Thornbrugh of Morris. Four sisters; Frances June Grounds of Dallas, Texas; Wanda and husband Allen Leibee of Houston, Texas; Rita and husband Mervin Wright of Owasso, Oklahoma; and Billie Sue and husband Ronnie of Salina, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.

James owned and operated his own distributing business, was an avid golfer, well known in the Eastern Oklahoma retail food businesses and on all the golf courses.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at Trinity Baptist Church in Morris, Oklahoma with Reverend Garnet Cole officiating. Interment will follow at Morris Cemetery with Ralph Fisher, Gary Watts, Jared Batterson, Derrell Griffith, Eugene (Bonnie) Thomas, and Doug Dugger serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Dude Faulkenberry, Barry Scott, Andy Hickman and Bob Winkle.

Services are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Morris. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10-8 PM at the funeral home.

FRED BREWER

Fred Augustus Brewer 72, a longtime Okmulgee resident, died in Tulsa on Sunday, April 13, 2003. He was born in Beggs, Oklahoma on July 24, 1930 to Charley Franklin and Ethel Mariah (Covington) Brewer.

He attended the Baptist Church. His parents, a brother Willis Brewer and a sister Clara Macaluso preceded him in death.

Survivors include two sisters Olive Clayton and Opal Clayton both of Okmulgee, two brothers Arnold Brewer of Glenville, California and Frank Brewer of Boonesville, California many nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Funeral Services will be on Thursday, April 17, 2003 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel at10 a.m. Burial will be in the Wilson Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Wednesday from 11-5 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Angel Gonzalez, Mark Weekley, Matt Gonzalez, Carey Mitchell, Frank Woodward and Tony Scott.

DANNY LAWSON Sr.

Danny R. Lawson, Sr. 63, of Okmulgee died Sunday, April 13, 2003 in Tulsa.

Services are pending with the Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home of Okmulgee.

MARIE WHITFORD

Marie Whitford, 96, of Okmulgee died Sunday, April 13, 2003 in Okmulgee.

Services and survivors will be announced by the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home.

Charles Porter

CLARENCE SHOTWELL

Clarence Carl Shotwell, a resident of Okmulgee for over 70 years, died Sunday, April 12, 2003 at the Veterans Hospital in Muskogee. Services are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at the Kelley Chapel with Brother Bruce Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery under direction of the Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home of Okmulgee.

He was born on Wednesday, September 24, 1919 to James and Addie (Thorne) Shotwell in Cushing, Oklahoma. He served in the United States Army during World War II. On September 12, 1944 he married Eva Louise (Harelson) in Okmulgee. He was a welder by trade and was the owner of Superior Welding in Okmulgee. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Okmulgee and attended the Northfork Baptist Church in Eufaula where he had resided for the last seven years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva on December 31, 1996; two brothers, Lewis and Bud; and two sisters, Caroline and Marie.

Survivors include two nephews, Don Shotwell and wife, Ronnie, and Greg Shotwell; two nieces, Carol Moore and Doris Warlick; and many grand nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Jim Cassleman, Eric Cowan, Johnny Shotwell, Greg Shotwell, John East, Jimmy Stephenson, Tommy Shotwell and Robert Grant.

REV. CLIFFORD GULLEY

Rev. Clifford Charles Gulley, 77, of Council Hill died Friday April 11, 2003 at the Community Lakeview Hospital in Eufaula, Oklahoma. Services were held 2:00 p.m. Monday. April 14th at the Merritt Chapel with the Reverend Floyd Rutland officiating. Burial was at the Mountain Home Cemetery under the direction of Hunn, Black & Merritt Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Curtis Crosby, Danny Crosby, Bryan Duke, Adarn Romper Ricky Gulley, and Anthony Young.

Clifford was born on September 23,1925, in Haskell County, the son of Henry and Gertie (Mart?ndale) Gulley. He attended school at Lona Valley. He worked at Eagle Pitcher in Henryetta for 22 years. He was a rancher and worked for Fisher Construction for 8 years. He loved cattle and loved to fish. He married Dessie Mac Beard on May 6th, 1940 in Spiro, Oklahoma. He attended the Pentecostal Holiness Church for over 50 years.

Survivors include: his wife of the home; one son, Billy Joe and wife Julie of Council Hill; three daughters, Louise Cheatwood of Muskogee, Barbara Teafatiller and husband Billy of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, and Kay Duke and husband David of Okemah; four brothers Henry and Pauline Gulley of Stigler, Cleo and Lola Gulley of Paden, Chester and Vivian Gulley of Morris and George Raymond and Wilda Gulley of Wilson and one sister, Anna Ball Yeager of Ada. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and l2 great grandchildren and 3 great -great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant sons, Eugene and Clifton and one granddaughter, Carol Jean in 1964.

Memorials may be made to the Mountain Home Cemetery Fund.

MAXINE GANN

Maxine Alma Gann, a resident of Hayword, Califomia, formerly of Henryetta died April 8,2003 in Hayward. She was born November 26, 1919 in Munday, Texas to Mary Matilda (Lee) Franklin and Riley G. Franklin.

She was preceded in death by husband, James "Pete" W. Gann.

Survivors include her daughter, Carol Hammett & Ralph of Califomia ; two grandchildren, two-greatgrandsons, a brother, Claude Franklin of Henryetta; a sister, Odetta Crawley of California and numerous family members.

Services will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Shurden Chapel. Burial will follow at the Dustin Cemetery under the direction of Shurden Funeral Home.

MARGARET TUCKER

Margaret Tucker, 70, a long time resident of Haskell, OK died Saturday, April 5 in a Tulsa hospital. She was born Sept. 15, 1932 in Birmingham, Ala. to Roosevelt and Willie Mae Jones.

She was a homemaker. Preceding her in death were a son, two sisters, one brother, and one grandson.

Survivors include her husband, Nathaniel of the home; one brother, Ozell Jones of Kansas City, Kan.; two grandchildren, with numerous relatives and friends.

A Homegoing celebration will be conducted Tuesday, April 15 at 12 noon in the True Light Baptist Church, Lansing MI with Rev. Terry Garrett, delivering the eulogy. Burial will be in Chapel Hills Memorial Garden, Lansing, MI.

Arrangements are under direction of the House of Winn Funeral Home.
