SHIRLEY HENRY
Shirley Mae Henry, 78, a resident of Okmulgee, died Saturday, April 5, 2003 in Okmulgee. She was born in Portland, Oregon to George Oliver and Florence (Russingnol) Baird. Shirley was a Registered Nurse and had retired from the Department of Human Services.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Larry Henry. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Okmulgee.
Survivors include two nieces Judy Sturman of Mounds and Becky Grubb of Tulsa.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 am on Tuesday, April 8, 2003 at the Second Baptist Church in Okmulgee with Reverend Jeff Vernon officiating. Private family burial will follow. Interment
is under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
GARY FLEETWOOD
Gary Lynn Fleetwood, 57, of Okmulgee died April 5, 2003 at his home in Okmulgee. He was born April 18,1945 in Okmulgee to Syble (Brown) Fleetwood and Harold Fleetwood.
Gary was was married to Merlene (DeVore) Fleetwood. He served the United States during the Vietnam era. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Fleetwood, one brother, Mitchell Fleetwood, and one sister, Rhonda Hawkins.
Survivors include his wife, Merlene Fleetwood of the home; sons, Mitchell Fleetwood of the home and Gary Wayne Fleetwood and Kim of Ark City, Kansas; daughters, Tammy Fleetwood of Winfield, Kansas and Tracy Fleetwood, Ark City, Kansas; six grandchildren, his mother, Syble Fleetwood of Okmulgee, a sister, Gayla Branson of Okmulgee and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
Services will be held Wednesday, April 9, at 10:00 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church in Okmulgee with Rev. Everett Lerch officiating. Burial will follow at New Sonora Cemetery, Henryetta under the direction of Shurden Funeral Home of Henryetta. VFW Post 539 of Henryetta and VFW Post 1189 of Okmulgee will provide Military Rites.
MELBA KENNEDY
Melba Jean Kennedy, 69, of Wichita, Kansas and formerly of Okmulgee, died on Wednesday, April 2, 2003 in Wichita.
She was a retired school teacher at 25O Irving Elementary School in Wichita for a number of years.
Survivors include her daughter, Gina Brazelton, Wichita, Kansas; a granddaughter; along with other relatives and friends.
Service of Memory will be on Wednesday, April 9, at 1:00 p.m. in the Jackson Mortuary Chapel in Wichita. The family request that memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society.
HARVEY DILLON
Harvey A. Dillon, 77, died Monday, April 7, 2003 in Tulsa. Graveside services
are 10:00a.m. Wednesday, April 9, in the Okmulgee Cemetery with the Reverend Jack Vance officiating. Services under the direction of the Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home
He was born on Monday, November 2, 1925 to Tessie (Freeman) and Harvey Dillon, Sr. in Hartshorne, Oklahoma. He married his first wife, "Billie" Colwell on June 22, 1946. She preceded him in death on September 9, 1999. He married Marie Donathan on April 19, 2000. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and retired from American St. Gobain, Ball Glass. Harvey enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball and being a grandfather. His hobbies included growing tomatoes and working in the garden.
Survivors include wife, Marie of the home; one son, Steve Dillon of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Judy Bliss and husband, Bill of Tyler, Texas; four step-daughters; one stepson; three grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Bill Milroy, Glen Lane, Lonnie Parrish and Jack Tyree.
The family requests that memorials be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.
FLOYD F. DALCOUR
Floyd Francis Dalcour, 69, life long resident of Okmulgee died April 2nd, 2003. He was born January 10, 1934, the fourth child born to George and Ezola ( Thomas ) Dalcour, Sr.
He was employed by Oral Roberts as a construction worker for many years. He enjoyed fishing, playing dominoes and gardening. He attended schools at Hallie, Wayside and Grayson. He was of the Catholic Faith. His parents and two brothers preceded him in death, Clyde and Edward ( E. J. ) Dalcour.
Survivors include two daughters Angela Dalcour Reese of Kansas City, Mo. and Patricia and husband Jimmy Jordan, of Temple, Texas; two sisters Leonis Norman of Henryetta and Leola Dalcour of Okmulgee; two brothers George Dalcour, Jr. and wife Mildred of Okmulgee and Clarence Dalcour and wife Lorna of Los Angeles, Calif. one grandson and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Christian Service Celebration will be conducted Wednesday, April 9 at 10:00 a.m., in the Keith Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc. Home Chapel in Okmulgee. Rev. Alamor Vima will Officiate the Service.
Burial will be in Our Lady Of Grace Cemetery under the direction of Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc. of Okmulgee.
Pallbearers will be Larnell Williams, Dan Ross, Charlie Barnett, Carl Armstead, Son Taylor, and Larry Hobert Jordan.
MICHAEL HAWTHORNE
Michael Jon Hawthorne, 41, of Beggs died Sunday, April 6, 2003. He was born July 5, 1961 in Canoga Park, Calif., to Carl A. and Alice Joan (Bush) Hawthorne.
He was a 1979 graduate of Beggs High School and then a 1984 graduate of Oklahoma State University with a degree in Geology. He worked as a geologist in the Oil, Gas and Water Industry.
Survivors include his parents; two daughters, Casey Rae Hawthorne and Micah Hawthorne of the home; two sisters Karla (Hawthorne) Chambers of Collinsville and Karen (Hawthorne) Flock of Bixby and a brother, Kevin Hawthorne of Lake City, Fla.
Memorial Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2003 at the First Baptist Church in Beggs with Brother Don Walker officiating. Services are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Beggs.
The family suggests that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of choice.
MARGARET TUCKER
Margaret Tucker, 70, a long time resident of Haskell, OK died Saturday, April 5 in a Tulsa hospital. She was born Sept. 15, 1932 in Birmingham, Ala. to Roosevelt and Willie Mae Jones.
She was a homemaker. Preceding her in death were a son, two sisters, one brother, and one grandson.
Survivors include her husband, Nathaniel of the home; one brother, Ozell Jones of Kansas City, Kan.; two grandchildren, with numerous relatives and friends.
A Homegoing celebration will be conducted Tuesday, April 15 at 12 noon in the True Light Baptist Church, Lansing MI with Rev. Terry Garrett, delivering the eulogy. Burial will be in Chapel Hills Memorial Garden, Lansing, MI.
Visitation, Thursday, 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the House of Winn Funeral Home.
OPAL ADAMS
Opal Virginia Adams, 85, longtime resident of Okmulgee, died Sunday afternoon, April 6, 2003 at Okmulgee Memorial Hospital. She was born February 1, 1918 to John George and Effie (Lyons) Davis in Pearson, Oklahoma.
She married Houston Gale Adams on July 23, 1941 in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. They moved to Okmulgee in 1945 from Pearson. She was a member of the Church of Christ and had help found the Tuesday Morning Breakfast Club which is a support group for widows in Okmulgee. She enjoyed sewing and her yard work. Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Houston G. Adams on May 18, 1974 and ten brothers and sisters.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Mike McFarland of Okmulgee and one grandson.
A graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2003 at the Waynette Cemetery in Waynette, Oklahoma with her son-in-law, Mike McFarland and grandson Timothy McFarland officiating. Burial will follow in the Waynette Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
CARL STARKEY
Carl Starkey, 64, of Okemah died April 8, 2003 at Henryetta. He was born Dec.10, 1938 at Beggs to Sam and Cynthia Myles Starkey.
He was married to Sherry Taylor on Dec. 23, 1962 in Olympia, Wash. He was a rancher and an avid sports fan. He served with the United States Army during the Cuban confict. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Doyle Starkey.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Sherry Starkey of the home; three sons, Eric and Kari Starkey of Oklahoma City, Jeff and Audrey Starkey of Okmulgee and Jason and Mary Starkey of Okemah; two brothers, Eddie and Betty Starkey of Oklahoma City and Gary Starkey of Okemah; two sisters, June Starkey and Betty and Charles Fisher of
Okemah; five grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services
will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Okmulgee Crosstown Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Wesley Berry officiating. Burial will follow in the Okfuskee Cemetery under direction of the Robert Simons Funeral Home of Henryetta.
Pallbearers will be Steven Zackery, Rodney Crum, Craig Peters, Billy Gordon, Jimmie Dean Pharaoh and Mark Starkey.
