CARL MILLER
Carl Miller, 85, of Midwest City, died Monday, April 23, 2001. He was born September 19, 1915 in Hydro, Oklahoma to Charles S. and Fillacy (Schimahorn) Miller.
He retired from F.A.A. where he was an aircraft mechanic. He loved the ocean and spent much of his time deep sea fishing.
He is survived by his two sons: Carl E. Miller and wife Jeanette of Okmulgee, OK., also Charles Miller and wife Eileen of Nicoma Park, OK, his daughter, Joy Cottrerman and husband Jack of Mission, TX, his brother B.C. Miller, Norman, OK. Also nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 26, 2001 at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
RUBY LEE SCOTT
Ruby Lee Scott, 73, a former resident of Checotah, died April 25, 2001 in a Muskogee nursing home.
Arrangements are pending with the House of Winn Funeral Home in Okmulgee.
VASHIE IRENE NEAL
Vashie Irene "Rena" Neal of Preston died in Okmulgee on April 3, 2001. She was born Aug. 17,1908 near Greenville, Texas to Fate and Lucy (Scarbough) Robins.
She married Preston L. Neal at Okemah in 1925. She was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Okemah. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sons, Willard, Willie and Alfred; granddaughter Sandy; two grandsons, Jimmy and Charley; three great-grandchildren; one brother and four sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Joyce and Gib Grammer of Preston and Linda and Loyd Sivils of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; three daughters-in-law and many friends.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 6 at 10:00 a.m., at the McClendon-Winters chapel. Burial will be in the Rock Creek Cemetery at Okemah.
Visitation was at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Thursday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.
LUTHER H. DAVIS
Luther Harrison Davis, 79, of Mannford, OK, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001 at Highland Park Nursing Home. He was born April 20, 1921 in Bokoshe, OK to Luther Harrison and Olivette (Stambridge) Davis.
He married Catherine Bortisser on June 2, 1973 in Okmulgee. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a sausage maker. He attended the Nazarene Church in Mannford and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, his first wife Irene and two sons, Albert and Pete Davis.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Davis of Mannford; a daughter, Debra Boyles and husband Bill of Keller, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Janet Davis of Sand Springs; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, April 6 at the Old Bokoshe Cemetery in Bokoshe with David Myers officiating. Services are under direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
BESSIE SMITH
Bessie Carolyn Smith, former Morris resident, died Tuesday, April 3 in Houston, Texas. She was born in Morris on Sept. 24, 1914 to Jim and Effie (Jordan) Helms.
Her parents and her husband, John Price Smith, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son, Kenneth Smith and wife Darlene of Houston, Texas; three sisters, Nellie Franklin, Eunice Dozier and Ima Jean Howard; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, April 7 at 10 a.m., at the Morris Cemetery Chapel. Burial will follow in the Morris Cemetery under direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home.
Visitation will be in Okmulgee on Friday from 10 a.m., until 8 p.m.
ROBERT NATION
Robert "Bobby" Nation, 29, of Tiger Mountain, OK was found dead April 1, 2001. He was born Feb. 7, 1971 in Sapulpa to Billy Ray Nation Sr., and Carolyn Sue Jones Nation.
He graduated from Dewar High School in 1989 and was a general laborer with the Ball-Foster Glass Plant. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Robert Nation and maternal grandparents, Dave and Anna May Jones.
Survivors include his parents, Bill Nation Sr., and Carolyn Nation of Tiger Mountain, OK; one son, Austin Nation of Glenpool; three brothers, Billy Nation Jr. of Tiger Mountain, David Nation of Morris; and Darryl Nation of Tiger Mountain; a sister, Pam Robinson and husband Jimmy of Porum; his paternal grandmother Hazel Nation of Sapulpa; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Friday, April 6 at 2 p.m., at the Dewar First Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Vance officiating. Burial will be at the Tuskogee Cemetery under direction of the Shurden Funeral Home.
MAXINE M. LEFFALL
Maxine M. Leffall, 69, a resident of Muskogee and former resident of Beggs, died April 1,2001 in Muskogee. She was born Sept. 4, 1931 in Beggs to William and Ella (Owze) Griffin. She was a beautician.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Cleveland Leffall; three daughters, Pam Shumate, Donna Jones and Lori McBride, all of Muskogee; three sisters, Evelyn Henderson of Tulsa, Espinetta Dorsey of Decatur, Ga., and Nannye Talton of Okmulgee; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m., in the Old Agency Baptist church, 1115 North 24th St., Muskogee with Pastor A. H. Jones officiating. Burial will be in Ft. Gibson National Cemetery under direction of the Granger Funeral Home.
ROSA L. REPSHER
Rosa Lunett Bynum Repsher, 65, a longtime Okmulgee County resident, died Sunday, April 1, 2001in Henryetta. She was born Dec. 6, 1935 in Pitts County, Ga., to W. G. and Eva (Peacock) Wagman.
She married Paul Repsher on June 24, 1977. She worked for Wal Mart for 21 years.
Survivors include her husband of the home; five sons, Randall Bynum of Winter Haven, Fla., Anthony Bynum Repsher of the home, Paul E. "Eddie" Repsher Jr., of Apopka, Fla., Marvin Repsher of Lakeland, Fla., and Eldon "Allen" Repsher of Springfield, Mo.; two daughters, Kathy D. Bynum-Sioux of Oklahoma City and Paula Mitchell of Niangua, Mo.; two brothers, Ernest Wagnum of Kathleen, Fl., and Billy Wagnum of Winter Haven, Fla.; two sisters, Faye Nelson of Satellite Beach, Fla., and Birdie Creecy of Arizona; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 6 at 2 p.m., at the Wilson Community Baptist Church with Rev. Craig Hobbs officiating. Burial will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery under direction of the Kelley Funeral Home.
BILLY JACK ROE
Billy Jack Roe, 69, of Lawton died Tuesday, April 3, 2001 at his home. He was born March 25, 1932 south of Beggs to D. H. and Emma Elizabeth( Pruitt) Roe.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a cab driver. He spent several years in California before moving to Lawton. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Calvin and Travis Roe and a sister, Lucille Holden.
Survivors include two brothers, C. D. Roe of Beggs and Kenneth Roe of Okmulgee; two sisters, Lois Fisher of Beggs and Dorothy Fisher of Oilton; his children; his wife, Gloria of the home; grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday in the McClendon-Winters Funeral Chapel at Beggs with Rev. Oscar Creason officiating. Burial will be in the Beggs Cemetery under direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.
DARVIN 'WILSON' WILLIE
Darvin Wayne "Wilson" Willie, 45, of Tulsa died April 4, 2001 in Tulsa. He was born in Claremore to George T. and Maryland (Harjo) Willie.
Survivors include his wife, J. Tess (WolfVoice) Willie of the home; two daughters, Tricia Alley American Horse of Tulsa and Jennifer and husband Mark Rosales of Tulsa; six grandchildren; four sisters, Georgia "Maxine" Layton of Okmulgee, Carolyn John of Idabel, Katheine "Kay" Willie of Morris and Christine "Christy" Berryhill of Morris; one brother, Johnny Willie of Morris and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Sam Willie and a great-nephew, Anthony Stout.
Wake services will be held at Big Cussetah Church in Morris on Friday evening, April 6.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m., at Big Cussetah Church with burial to follow at Big Cussetah Church Cemetery. Rev. Jim Alexander, Rev. Sonny Brasswell and Rev. Willie Johnson will officiate.
Casketbearers will be Jerry Roberts, Joe Factor Jr., Lindell Berryhill Sr., Jeff Murphy, Gary Oberly, Tommy Morgan and Richard Morgan.
Arrangements are under direction of the Robert Simons Funeral Home of Henryetta.
