Irene Reynolds, 86, of Henryetta died Jan. 16, 2002 at Henryetta.

RUTH E. WARD
Ruth Evelyn Ward, 78, died Jan. 16, 2002. She was born on March 12, 1923 to Eldon and Effie Love in White Hall, Illinois.
She was educated in the White Hall School system and graduated from high school in 1941. She married William Howard Ward in 1941 and following WW II they moved to St. Louis, Mo. Her husband preceded her in death in 1977.
Survivors include her son Michael Steven Ward, M.D., his wife Victoria of Tulsa; one sister, Jenny Daniels of Baltimore, Maryland a brother Kenneth Love of White Hall, Ill, and three grandchildren.
Graveside services
will be Friday, January 18, 2002 at 1 p.m. at the Yukon Cemetery, Yukon, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
TAYLOR J. ASHER
Taylor Joseph "T.J. " Asher, 77, a long time resident of Okmulgee died Wednesday, January 16, 2002 at Okmulgee Memorial Hospital.
He was born September 2, 1924 in Drumright, OK to Allen T. and Eileen K. (Galligher) Asher. T.J. graduated from Liberty High School. He served during World War II in the United States Army Infantry Company F 273 Division. He married Nina I (Freeman) Asher in Okmulgee on July 2, 1971. He was employed for many years with Hasco Manufacturing Company in Sapulpa. T.J. retired from Thompson Pump Company in Okmulgee as a machine-lathe operator. He enjoyed fishing, yard work gardening and flowers. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Jerry Asher and one sister Ramahlee Asher.
Survivors include his wife Nina Asher of the home; two sons Jimmy Asher of Okmulgee and Pat Asher of Glenpool; one daughter Rita Price also of Glenpool; three stepsons Larry Ingram of Okmulgee, Dennis Ingram of Roosevelt, UT, and Tim Ingram of Okmulgee; two step daughters Doris Lauderdale of Okmulgee and Norene Foreman of Okmulgee; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 19, 2002 at the Calvary Baptist Church with Reverend Lawrence Matlock Officiating and Reverend Amalor Vima assisting. Burial will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee. Military Rites will be performed by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1189 of Okmulgee along with Post 539 of Henryetta.
Visitation will be at the Funeral Home on Friday from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m.
WILLIAM HOPKINS
William "Bill" Hopkins, 77, died Jan. 14, 2002 in Claremore. He was born Feb. 11, 1924 in San Diego, Calif., to William Randolph Hopkins and Emiline Knight.
He served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years and after his retirement worked for the Buck Knife Company in California. He then moved to Henryetta and opened the H&H Saw Sharpening. He married Marguerite Holcomb on March 20, 1954 in California. His parents and a son Billy Hopkins preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Robert Claude Hopkins of San Diego; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services
will be Friday, Jan. 18 at Westlawn Cemetery with Rev. Jim Paslay officiating. Arrangements are under direction of the Rogers Funeral Home of Henryetta.
LILA F. EARLE
Lila Frances Earle,80, a resident of Okmulgee for more than 30 years, died Jan. 10, 2002 in Okmulgee. She was born March 12, 1921 in Kansas.
Survivors include one brother, Robert Earle of Texas.
Arrangements are under direction of the Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home of Okmulgee. No service is planned.
EFFIE MAE EDMONDS
Effie Mae Edmonds, 88, lifelong resident of Morris, died in Okmulgee on Wednesday, January 16, 2002. Mrs. Edmonds was born on March 14, 1913 in Brooken, Oklahoma to Lester and Maude (Kirby) Basden.
She was a member of the Prairie Belle Home Extension Club and affiliated with the United Pentecostal Church. Her husband John Edmonds, a son A.J. Edmonds, her parents, seven brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son Dale and his wife Lucille Edmonds of Morris; one daughter Linda and her husband Jack Donnell of Coweta, a daughter-in-law Ruth Edmonds of Broken Arrow, one sister, Sallie Whiteside of Quinton, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren 20 great- grandchildren and 2 great- great- grandchildren.
Funeral services
will be on Saturday, January 19, 2002 at 2 p.m. at the McClendon-Winters Chapel with Rev. Paul Lay and Rev. Elroy Martin officiating. Burial will be in the Morris Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Friday from l 2 to 8 p.m. and Saturday until funeral time at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Okmulgee
Casketbearers will be her grandsons.
PHILIP HAL KENNEDY
Philip Hal Kennedy, 67, of Pryor and formerly of Okmulgee, died Jan. 15, 2002 in Pryor. He was born on February 8, 1934 in Pawnee, Oklahoma, the son of Hal and Lela (Brummett) Kennedy.
Philip grew up and attended school at Atoka and graduated from Okmulgee High School in 1951. He then attended Oklahoma State University where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Agronomy. He then entered the United States Army, serving from 1955 to 1857. He then served in the Army Reserves from 1957 to 1994 retiring as Colonel. He was the Commander of the 95th Division Army Reserve Rifle Team and Brigade Commander of the 95th Infantry Division. He and Marjorie Jean Jersey were united in marriage on July 24, 1955 in Okmulgee. The Kennedy's moved to Pryor in 1971 from Bristow, Okla. He served as the OSU Extension Agent from 1971 till 1991. As county agent he was the director of the 4-H activities for many years. He and his three sons owned and operated Professional Pest Control Company. Phil was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pryor, serving as a deacon, chairman of the Follow - Up Building Committee and was a Sunday School Teacher. He was a member of the Pryor Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, served on the Thunderbird Youth Academy Board, was chairman of the Mayor Wallis Foundation, former director of the local chapter of the Red Cross, secretary of the Pryor Creek Investment Club, was chairman of the MESTA board, former board of directors of MUB and was City Councilman. He also served the Chamber of Commerce as chairman for the Mayes County Fair Premium Auction and was a member of the Pryor Senior Golf Assoc.
Survivors include his wife Margie of the home; three sons, Pat Kennedy and wife Karla of Sallisaw, Mike Kennedy and wife Sheri and Scott Kennedy and wife Paula, all of Pryor; seven grandchildren, two brothers, Trent Kennedy and wife Cheno of Grove and Dan Kennedy and wife Sherry of Broken Arrow. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services
will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan.18 at the Pryor First Baptist Church with Dr. Wendell Lang officiating. Burial will be in the Graham Memorial Cemetery in Pryor under direction of the Key Funeral Home in Pryor.
Friends may contribute to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or the American Cancer Society.

LOLETA E. WELLS
Loleta Elmore Wells, 83, a longtime resident of Henryetta, died Jan. 15, 2002. She was born March 2, 1918 in Wilson,Texas to John Charlie Elmore and Annie Nora (Wimberly) Elmore.
She graduated from high school in Inaan, Texas and attended secretarial college for two years. She worked for Phillips Oil Company in Odessa, Texas where she met her future husband, Earl Alexander Wells Jr. They were married on Sept.19, 1953 in Odessa and moved to Henryetta in 1967. She was a member of the Henryetta First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, Charles Cleavie Elmore, and three sisters, Daisy Mae Tennant, Robbie Melissa Pokonny and Dacia Ruth Sutton.
Survivors include three children, Donald Alan Wells, Karla Kay Thompson and husband Jimmy, and Kim Janee Moore and husband Lannie, all of Henryetta; three grandchildren, one sister, Ruby Naomi Benton and husband Ray of Kerrville, Texas and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funereal services are scheduled for10:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 17, at the Henryetta First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Paslay officiating and family members serving as pallbearers. Burial will be at Westlawn Cemetery under direction of the Rogers Funeral Home of Henryetta.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Henryetta First Baptist Church New Building Fund.

LORA M. UMSTED
Lora Mae Umsted, 83, died Jan. 13, 2002 in Littleton, Colo. She was born July 8, 1919 near Wetumka to Everett Chastain and Pearl Webb Chastain.
She was raised south of Wetumka and attended Fairview School, graduating in 1937. In 1941she was married to A.W.(Pete) Umsted and they made their first home in the Wetumka area. They later located to Schulter and then to Jenks in 1979 where she currently resided. She began a nursing career, first working at Lake Drive Nursing Home in Henryetta and retired from Skyline Nursing Center at age 70. She had been in Colorado since 1997 to be near her son due to ill health. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983, a brother Clifford and sister, Norma Chastain.
Survivors include her son, Bill and wife Yoriko of Englewood, Colo.; three brothers, Clark Chastain of Wetumka, Fred Chastain of Morris and Doug Chastain of Dumas,Texas; three sisters, Margaret (Babe) Frye of Dumas, Texas, Nola Umsted of Okmulgee, and Millie Elzy of Henryetta ; two granddaughters and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services
were schedued for Wednesday at 10 a.m., at the Williamson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Don Williamson officiating. Pallbearers were Clark Chastain, Gene Frye, Doug Chastain, Leon Elzy, Jerry Umsted and Raymond Umsted. Burial was in the Wetumka Cemetery under direction of the Williamson Funeral Home.
