Bobby Ray Day

Graveside services for Bobby Ray Day, 70, Sulphur, were held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 5, at the Drake Cemetery with Pastor Willard McCartney, Jr. officiating. Hale’s Funeral Home of Sulphur was in charge of arrangements. Bobby was born December 26, 1944 in Sulphur, to the late Leonard Alfred and Addie Lavenia (Williams) Day. He died Thursday, April 30, 2015 in Sulphur. Bobby grew up in Sulphur where he graduated from high school in 1963. After graduation, he joined the United States Army. Bobby spent many years working in sheet metal fabrications, retiring from V.E. Enterprises in Springer. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading and watching western movies, hunting and fishing. Bobby was a very proud member of the Chickasaw Nation. Survivors include son, Dewayne Day and wife Monica of Las Vegas, Nev.; daughter, Tammy Pittman and husband Tony, Bedford, Pa.; two grandchildren, Kyle and Allison; uncle, Julian Williams; brother, Gerry Day and wife Juanita, Ada; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by two sisters, Eva Day and Almeta Ingram and a nephew, Earl Dodson. The family wishes to give special thanks to nephew Terry Dodson and Johnnie Dodson and special friends, Jeremy Parker and Angela Ingram for the great care and friendship that was offered to Bobby.

Mary Moreland Hyler Sheppard

Graveside services for Mary Moreland Hyler Sheppard of Sulphur were held Saturday, May 2, at 11:00 a.m. at Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur with Rev. Bill Leveridge officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home. Mary was born December 5, 1941 in Imperial, Calif., to Kavanaugh L. and Audie Mae (Bond) Moreland. She passed away Tuesday April 28, 2015 in Durant at the age of 73 years, four months and 23 days. She had lived most of her life in the Sulphur area. Mary had worked as a cook in several nursing homes. She attended the Memorial Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by three daughters, Bobbie Gunkel, Spokane, Wash., Terri Scott, Carbondale, Ill., Peggy Hintz, Franklin, Wisc.; one son, Christopher Hyler, Florida; one sister, Mollie Lehman, Oklahoma City; five grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren; one nephew, Keith Lehman and a niece, Michelle Welle.

Sarah A. Bryant

Graveside services for Sarah A. Bryant, 101, Davis, were held Monday, Jan 19, 2015 at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, Ala., with Pastor Buddy Grey officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hale’s Funeral Home of Davis. Sarah was born July 9, 1913 in Montgomery, Ala., to the late A.J. and Carrie Belle (Fanning) Allred. She died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015 in Davis Sarah and William Howard Bryant were married in Birmingham. He preceded her in death in December, 1976. Sarah grew up in Birmingham where she graduated high school
and later received a Master’s Degree in Education from Samford University. She spent 10 years as a classroom teacher with the Georgia Teachers Association, retiring in 1976. Throughout her life she made her home in Birmingham for 35 years, Chile for 15 years, Puerto Rico for 4 years, Atlanta, Ga., for 18 years and Ft Worth, Texas for 27 years before moving to Davis in 2010. Sarah was a member of the Normandale Baptist Church in Ft. Worth. Survivors include four sons, Howard Jackson Bryant, Montgomery, Ala., William Luther Bryant, Ft Worth, Texas, John Richard Bryant, Sulphur and James Hunter Bryant, Seneca, S.C.

Marie Price

Services for Marie Price, 84, Shawnee, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, at Walker Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, at Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur under the direction of Walker Funeral Service. Born on July 8, 1930 to William F. Grubaugh and Clara (Nelson) Grubaugh in Dale, she died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015 in Oklahoma City. She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1948. On November 22, 1949 she married Willis D. Price. Mrs. Price owned and operated the Broadway Beauty Shop in Sulphur. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed sewing, ceramics, crafts, and spending time with her grandkids. He husband, her parents; three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. She is survived by three children, Joyce Crawford and husband Garry, Newalla, Dewayne Price, Asher and Marcella Smith, Shawnee; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Joe Bob Grissom

Graveside services for Joe Bob Grissom, 89, Branson, Mo., will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday June 13 at Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur officiated by Rev. Derrick Altom. Arrangements were under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home in Sulphur. Born November 17, 1925 in Sulphur Springs, Oklahoma to Joe and Pearl (Hale) Grissom, he passed away Tuesday May 26 in Branson, Mo. After finishing his tour of duty in the U.S. Navy, Bob returned from the South Pacific in March and married Wanda Jean “Jeanie” Billings on October 28, 1946 in Sulphur. She preceded him in death September 18, 2010. Bob worked for Kraft Foods in Sulphur and was transferred to Springfield, Mo, where he worked until his retirement in 1985. After his retirement they moved back to Sulphur. In 2010 Bob moved back to Branson to live with his daughter, Jan. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by two daughters, Sharon Montgomery and husband, Jim, Nauvoo, Ala. and Jan Young of Branson, Mo.; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Bobbi Kristina “Kristi” Robertson

Funeral services for Bobbi Kristina “Kristi” Robertson, 57, Davis, were held 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 8, at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis with Rev Russell Golden officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hale’s Funeral Home of Davis. Kristi was born December 6, 1957 in Colorado City, Texas to Fred Glen and Dora Sue (Russell) Robertson. She died Friday, June 5, 2015 in Davis. Kristi grew up in West Texas, graduating from Coronado High School in El Paso, class of 1973. She attended the University of Central Oklahoma, earning an Associate’s Degree. After college, Kristi moved to Colorado where she worked for Oppenheim Investment Firm. In 1991, she moved to Davis, where she raised her son and daughter. Kristi worked seven years for the Davis Public Schools, managing the cafeteria, prior to working for the Chickasaw Nation as a teacher’s assistant. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, crafts, gardening, watching TV and bargain shopping. Survivors include one son, Max Glen Crowley; daughter, Samantha Elizabeth Crowley and mother, Dora Robertson, all of Davis; and numerous cousins. Kristi was preceded in death by her father, Fred; as well as both paternal and maternal grandparents.

James C. “J.C.” Chadwick

Funeral Services for J.C. Chadwick were held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the First Free Will Baptist Church of Sulphur with Pastor Dick Terry officiating. Interment, with military honors, followed at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur. J.C. was born April 22, 1922 in Davis, to the late N.A. and Cecil (Truitt) Chadwick. He died at his home on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at the age of 93 years, one month and 11 days. J.C. married the love of his life, Louise Higgins, on October 28, 1942 in Sulphur. She preceded him in death on October 23, 2014. Others preceding him in death include three brothers, five sisters and grandson, Justin Dow Chadwick. J.C. was a lifelong resident of Davis/Sulphur. He joined the United States Army on November 21, 1942 and was honorably discharged on October 13, 1945. After his service to our country, J.C. returned home and became employed with the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier, retiring after 40+ years of carrying mail. Throughout his life, he farmed and raised cattle, a task considered by most as a second job, but to J.C., it was his passion. Whether it was fishing, hunting or tending to his cattle, J.C. loved being outdoors. He was an avid reader, reading most anything he could get his hands on, but especially westerns and anything concerning history. Of all the reading he did, the most important was his Bible, of which he read completely, three times. J.C. will forever be remembered as a kindhearted individual who loved his family, was loyal to his friends and was simply satisfied with life. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Pirkle and husband, Joe of Davis and Judy Wells and husband, Jerold of Sulphur; two sons, Richard Chadwick and wife, Jane and Don Chadwick and wife, Judy, both of Davis; nine grandchildren, Machele McNeil, Sean McNeil, Chuck Wells, Amy (Wells) Norman, Ashley (Wells) Box, Kelli (Chadwick) Brassfield, Jodi (Chadwick) Coppenbarger, Taylor Chadwick and Jordan (Chadwick) Dutcher; nine great-grandchildren, Morgan, Tyler, Audrey, Jag, Jett, Presley, Gage, Paige and Evelyn; one sister, Jo Ann Arms and husband, Glenn of Davis; as well as one sister-in-law, Nola Smith of Sulphur. Serving as pallbearers were Toby Todd, Don Brown, Joe Runyan, Jim Parker, Dewayne Leming and Clyde Runyan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the First Free Will Baptist Church of Sulphur. Services were “Entrusted To” HALE’S Funeral Home of Sulphur, OK.

Wilma Jeanie Moore

Graveside services for Wilma Jeanie Moore, 64, Henderson, Nev., were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday June 8, at Palmer Cemetery with Rev. Frank Trent officiating. Burial followed at Palmer Cemetery under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home of Sulphur. Born February 16, 1951 in Sulphur to Acie and Addie Lee (Thomas) Gordon, she passed away Wednesday, May 27, in Henderson, Nev. Jeanie grew up in the Sulphur and Roff area before moving to Oklahoma City. She and Charles Moore were married on June 12, 1982 in Oklahoma City. They later moved to the Las Vegas, Nev., area where she resided until her death. Jeanie was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Thomas Gordon, Kenneth Gordon and Johnny Ray Gordon; and by six sisters, Margret Willenborg, Margie Billy, Ruby Holden, Gayla Afshar, Neva Davis and Idabel Gordon. She is survived by her husband, Charles Moore, Henderson, Nev.; three brothers and a sister-in-law, William Gordon, Sulphur, Charles Gordon, Talihina and Floyd and Nita Gordon, Sulphur; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Lillie and Frank Trent, Ada, Julia and Bill Mayo, Sulphur and Carolyn and Mike Mosley, Roff. Pallbearers were Tom Gordon, Tony Gordon, Michael Gordon, Joe Gordon, and Tony Farnell.

Johnny Lee Todd

Funeral services for Johnny Lee Todd, 55, Davis, were held 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 8 at the Dougherty Baptist Church with Pastor Willard McCartney, Jr. officiating. Interment followed at the Dougherty Cemetery under the direction of Hale’s Funeral Home of Davis. Johnny was born January 30, 1960 in Antlers to Shirley Joe “Buddy” and Minnie Christine (Sutterfield) Todd. He died Wednesday, June 3, 2015 in Davis, at the age of 55 years 4 months and 3 days. Johnny grew up in Dougherty where he attended school. He lived his life being satisfied with just what he had. Johnny was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews. Survivors include his mother, Minnie Todd, Dougherty; son, Joseph Lee Todd and wife, Venus H., Sulphur Springs, Texas; three grandchildren; four sisters, Shirley Wiles, Mary Gibson, Jannie Jones and Velda Holden; one brother, David Todd and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Johnny was preceded in death by his father, Buddy Todd, in September, 2003 and one brother, Edward Todd.

Debbie Ann Lowrance

Debbie Ann Lowrance, 65, Sulphur, was born August 3, 1949 in Sand Springs to Ray and Wilma (Willis) Bartley. She passed away Tuesday June 9, in Sulphur, after a six-year courageous battle with breast cancer. She grew up around the Keystone area where, at the age of 16, helped raise her younger siblings Debbie graduated from Mannford High School. Forty-five years ago, on May 23, 1970, she married Kenny Lowrance in Las Vegas, Nev. They lived in Jennings, Okla., for a few years where she worked as a library aide. In 1979 they moved to Sulphur. She loved her family with a passion and enjoyed being a homemaker and taking care of her husband and three girls, and later her grandson, Cooper. Debbie was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Gary Bartley. She is survived by her husband, Kenny Lowrance, Sulphur; three daughters, Shannon Lowrance, Jody Lowrance Plott and husband, Jeff and Kelly Lowrance, all of Sulphur; one grandson, Cooper Cleburn; two brothers, David Bartley and wife, Karen and Laney Bartley, all of Tulsa; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Rhonda Nance and Jerry and Delores Martinez and Juan, all of Tulsa Arrangements are under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home of Sulphur.

Kenneth A. Binderim

Funeral services for Kenneth A. Binderim, 95, of Sulphur, were held Monday, June 15, at the Hale’s Memorial Chapel in Sulphur, with Brother Thomas Thompson officiating. Interment, with military honors, followed at the Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Hale’s Funeral Home of Sulphur. He was born April 24, 1920 in Sulphur to the late Kenneth Arthur & Thelma Charlottie (Moss) Binderim. He died Thursday, June 11, 2015 in Sulphur. He and Bonnie Louise (Pelts) Hinkle were married on July 23, 1996 in Sulphur. He was a lifelong resident of Sulphur. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. After his service to our country, he returned home and went to work for Dolese Brothers as a heavy equipment operator, retiring in the early 1980’s. He enjoyed fishing, camping, playing pool and caring for his dog. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; four step daughters, Barbara Egleston, Moore, Pamela Myers. Sulphur, Susan Chenoweth, Joplin, Mo. and Patricia Iverson, Carl Junction, Mo.; three step sons, Michael Hinkle, Edmond, David Hinkle, the Philippines and Marc Hinkle, Shawnee; numerous step grandchildren snf great-grandchildren and one brother, Daniel “Short” Binderim, Sulphur. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Martin and Mary.
