Dessie Lorene Wilkins

Services for Dessie Lorene Wilkins, 87, Shawnee, were held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 20 at the Walker Funeral Service Chapel with J. C. Farrand and Ernie Deeds officiating.

Interment was in Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur with Walker Funeral Service of Shawnee in charge of arrangements.

Born March 16, 1919 in Asher to Arvo L. and Elsie Worstell, she died Saturday, June 17, 2006 at her home.

An L.P.N. and graduate of City Hospital, Shawnee in 1958 she was a certified lab technician

She married Alfred Vernon Wilkins on February 5, 1939.

She was a member of the Westgate Freewill Baptist Church

Surviving are her husband, Alfred Wilkins, of the home; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Anneta and Milton Hunt, Davis, Charlotte Kelly, Shawnee, Linda and J.C. Farrand, Shawnee; grandchildren, Lisa and David Littrell, Edmond, Steve and Cindy Hunt, Broken Arrow; Holly Moore, Shawnee, Kristi and Chuck Criess, Bartlesville, Carri Farrand, Washington, D.C. and Clint and Dresden Farrand, Columbia, Mo. Also surviving are great grandchildren, Spencer Hunt, Baylee Hunt, Taylor Moore, Brittni and Dylan Criess; 1 great grandson, Brecken Reid Hunt; one brother and sister-in-law, Doyle and Jane Worstell, Ponca City; two nieces and many other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Margie Moreland, two infant children and one great grandson Colton Criess.

Mildred C. (Springer) Dixon

Services for Mildred C. (Springer) Dixon, 96, Davis, were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 16 at Hale's Memorial Chapel with Rev. Charles Brown officiating.

Interment was in Green Hill Cemetery with Hale's Funeral Home of Davis in charge of arrangements.

Born in Davis on December 3, 1909 to John B. and Minnie (Pullen) Springer, she died in Edmond on Monday, June 12, 2006.

After graduating from Davis High School, she attended secretarial school in Ardmore, learning stenographer skills.

She worked for the State of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City until the beginning of WW II, when she moved to Washington, D.C., working for the U.S. government in requisitioning supplies for troops going overseas.

After the end of the war, she moved to Tulsa where she was employed by Sinclair Oil Company until her retirement, when she moved back to Davis to care for her elderly parents.

She is survived by two sisters, Norene Rowe, Los Banos, Calif. and Doris Strain, Bogata, Texas; two nieces, Karen Whitaker, Alvardo, Texas and Edith Carlstone, Edmond; two nephews, Norman Hartness, Gaithersburg, Md. and Richard Rowe, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, James Bruce Springer, Davis and one sister, Lorene Hartness, Tulsa.

Pallbearers were Charlie, Houston, Darin and Jason Rogers, Bill Chaffin and Heath Foster.

Michael L. Clark

Graveside services for Michael L. Clark, 38, Paul's Valley, will be held Wednesday, June 21 at 10:00 a.m. at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Chaplain Glenn Adams officiating.

Services are under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.

He was born June 1, 1968 and died Friday, June 16, 2006 in Norman.

Surviving are his mother, Jeani Weir, Oklahoma City; two brothers, Joseph Jette and John Jette, II, both of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Joni Jette, Yukon, Jeana Jette and Jennifer Relei, both of Modesto, Calif.; one stepbrother, Wesley Weir, Drumright; one stepsister, Jennifer McKinney, Drumright; his grandmother, Jean Stack, Oklahoma City and 22 nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Audie Deola Hayes

Graveside services for Audie Deola Hayes, 85, Whitney, Texas, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 21 at Oaklawn Cemetery with Tommy Haynes officiating.

Arrangements will be under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.

Born March 21, 1921 in Ridge, Mont., to Tom Denson and Zettie Moore Denson, she died Friday, June 16, 2006 in Whitney, Texas.

She spent her early years in Montana and Texas.

She came to Oklahoma in her youth, living in Garvin County, Davis and Stratford.

She married Martin H. Hayes on December 10, 1937 at Pernell.

He preceded her in death in May, 2004.

They moved to Sonora, Calif., in 1950 and returned to Sulphur in 1976 after her husband's retirement.

She had been living in Whitney, Texas with her son.

Surviving are two sons, Donald Ray Hayes, Phoenix, Ariz. and Martin Hayes, Jr. and his wife, Brenda, Whitney, Texas; two sisters, Bobbie White, Sulphur and Montie Winn, Lindsay; two brothers, Rex Denson, Corona, Calif. and Max Denson, Live Oak, Fla.; three grandchildren, Christopher Hayes, Whitney, Texas, Drew Hayes, and Ray Ann Hayes, Phoenix, Ariz. and a great granddaughter, Erika Hayes, Phoenix, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Beatrice Chandler, Maize Whitt and Oleta White; one brother, T. I. Denson.

Nephews served as pallbearers.

Sergio Rivera Sandate

Services for Sergio Rivera Sandate, 46, Davis, will be held Friday, June 23 in San Pedro, Mexico.

Born November 9, 1959 to Juan Rivera Rodriguez and Victoria Soto Sandate in San Pedro, Coahuilia, Mexico, he died Wednesday, June 14, 2006 in Davis.

He had lived in the Davis/Sulphur area for the past several years during which time he worked as a restaurant cook.

Local arrangements were under the direction of Hale's Funeral Home of Davis.

Dortha Collins

Services for Dortha Collins, 84, Sulphur will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13 at the First Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Ransom officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery with Clagg Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Born June 19, 1922 in Oilton to Estella (Fager) and Albert F. Herd, she died Saturday, Dec. 9 at Norman.

She married Robert Neal Collins at Milwaukee, Wis., on July 15, 1952. She grew up near St. Louis, Okla. and graduated from high school in Moore. She later graduated from nursing school at Baptist Hospital in Muskogee. She worked as an operating room registered nurse at various hospitals during her career. She spent the last half of her career at the Sulphur Veterans Center. She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church.

Her husband preceded her in death on August 30, 1983.

Surviving are one son, Neal A. Collins, Midwest City; one sister, Anna Belle Bishop, Moore; two brothers, Harold A. Herd, Moore and Alfred L. Herd, Reform, Ala.

Pallbearers will be Tom Carr, Jim Parker, Toby Todd, Mike Martin, J. E. "Tiny" Day, Bob Seward, Craig Bishop and Kevin Herd.

Dr. Palmer H. Boeger

Dr. Palmer H. Boeger, a prominent Ada historian and retired professor of history at East Central University in Ada, died December 1, 2006 at a local nursing home.

He was 87.

His services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 5 at the Ada First Lutheran Church with Rev. Gary Brandt officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home.

He was born on March 27, 1919, at Plymouth, Wis., to Alfred P. and Elsa Wessel Boeger.

He attended school at Plymouth and graduated valedictorian of his class.

He received his bachelor's, masters and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Wisconsin.

He taught history at East Central University from 1953 to 1989, retiring as chairman of the university's history department after 36 years of teaching.

He continued teaching on a part-time basis from 1989 to 2001.

He is remembered locally as a fixture at the Travertine Nature Center in Chickasaw National Recreation Area where he worked during many summer months as an interpretative ranger.

The Park later honored him with a Park Emblem Award for his dedicated service during the summers from 1969 to 1993.

He was an active member of the Ada First Lutheran Church.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

He married Grace Sternquest on June 15, 1957.

Survivors include his wife, Grace, of the home; a daughter, Nancy Ann McDaniel and husband, Ron, Tulsa; a son, Fred Earl Boeger and wife, Rhonda, Udall, Kans.; and a grandson, Eric Wayne Factor and wife, Brooke.

Pallbearers were Ron McDaniel, Eric Factor, Keith Buelow, Lyle Bailey, Lowell Leach and Steve Flora.
