Reba F. Thompson
Funeral services for longtime Sulphur resident and church organist Reba F. Thompson, 87, were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 15 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Malphrus officiating.
Interment was in Oaklawn Cemetery with Clagg Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Born September 7, 1918 in Willis to J. Frank Dickerson and Eula Marie Hayes Dickerson, she died Thursday, May 11, 2006 in Norman.
She came to this area as a small child with her grandparents, J. Frank and Alma Dickerson.
After graduating from Sulphur High School in 1936, she attended the University of Oklahoma.
She later worked as a dental assistant to Dr. W. L. Shamel and Dr. D. T. Frye in Sulphur from 1939 until her retirement in 1970.
On May 23, 1952, she and Paul E. Thompson were married.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she served for 70 years and organist.
She was also a member of the Tulip Federated Garden Club and the Schubert Federated Music Club.
She loved music, flowers and her cats.
Surviving are her husband, Paul, of the home; a sister and her husband, June and Tom Wideman, Abilene, Texas; a special niece, Nancy Ledvina, Fort Worth, Texas and special friend and his family, Perry Luna.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Fred and Fayne Dickerson.
Pallbearers were Allen Butch Hill, Phil Hurst, Gary Freeman, Paul Luna, Major Clagg and D. T. Thompson.
Paul Steven Smith
Funeral services for Paul Steven Smith, 47, Tulsa, were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 13 with Rev. Bill Leveridge officiating.
Interment was in Oaklawn Cemetery with Clagg Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Born December 30, 1958 in Purcell to Sam William Smith and Jo Ann Boyd Smith, he died Thursday, May 11, 2006 in Tulsa.
He married Kathy Clement on January 16, 2001 at Greenville, Texas.
He grew up in the Sulphur and Ardmore areas, attending school in Dickson and Sulphur.
He lived in Tyler, Texas six years before returning to this area.
He was a Baptist and served in the U.S. Army for one year.
He worked as a trucker and mechanic.
Surviving are his wife, Kathy, Tulsa; two daughters, Maranda Conlon and Karen Jean Thompson, both of Tulsa; a son, Michael Loyd Smith, Ardmore; a sister, Peggy Whittington, DeRidder, La. and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jo Ann Clifton; a brother, Sam Smith, Jr. and his father, Sam Smith.
Pallbearers were James Hembree, Chad Smith, David Upton, Jeff Smith, Mike Gordon and Michael Thompson.
Judith A. Clement
Funeral services for Judith A. Clement, 63, Mill Creek, were held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 15 at the First Baptist Church in Mill Creek with Rev. Claude Williams officiating.
Interment was in Mill Creek Cemetery with Clagg Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Born Thursday, Feb. 11, 1943 in Troy to Perry E. Reed and Imogene Hudgens Reed, she died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2006 in Troy.
A bank teller, Mrs. Clement grew up in the Troy and Mill Creek area, attending school in Troy and graduating from Mill Creek in 1960.
She attended the University of Oklahoma and had worked at Landmark Bank and First National Bank.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mill Creek.
Surviving are her husband, Perry, of the home; a daughter, Amy Lynn Born, Guthrie; a son, Jeffrey Thomas Clement, Sapulpa; her mother, Imogene Reed, Troy and three brothers, Gary Don Reed, Duncan, Terry Lynn Reed, Mill Creek and Marcus Ray Reed, Troy.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Pallbearers were Tom Vestal, John Clark, Dean Ross, Tim Stinson, Leon Sorrells and James Gist.
Loy "Jay" Lee Hasting
Graveside services for Loy "Jay" Lee Hasting, 87, Davis, were held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, May 12 at Oaklawn Cemetery with Rev. James Densman officiating.
Interment was in Oaklawn Cemetery with Krien Funeral Home, Sulphur, in charge of arrangements.
Born March 12, 1919 in Hugo to M. M. and Kaie L. (Robertson) Hasting, he died Tuesday, May 9, 2006 in Davis.
He was a retired Boeing Aircraft worker and served in the U.S. Army during WWII, attaining the rank of staff sergeant.
He is survived by a brother, Vernon Hasten, Davis; a niece, Sue Ann Goodman, Oklahoma City and several other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and two sisters.
Hubert Alfred Threadgill
Graveside services for Hubert Alfred Threadgill, 87, Ada, were held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 12 at Dolberg Cemetery with Rev. James Densman officiating.
Interment was in Dolberg Cemetery with Krien Funeral Home, Sulphur, in charge of arrangements.
Born October 30, 1918 in Roff to Bert and Bessie Threadgill, he died Tuesday, May 9, 2006 in Ardmore.
He grew up in the Roff and Dolberg areas.
While working in Fort Worth, Texas, he met and married Dorothy Mae Hoffman.
The couple was married 52 years until her death last year.
In 1939, he enlisted and served in WW II where he was wounded in action in Europe.
He received the Purple Heart, American Defense Service Medal and European, African, Middle Eastern Service Medal.
After his military discharge in September, 1945, he began work for the railroad and the couple built their home by themselves in Crowley, Texas.
He retired as office supervisor for Lone Star Gas Company.
His favorite hobbies were fishing and playing cards.
Surviving are one daughter, Jo Ann Soccio and husband, Greg, Wylie, Texas; three grandchildren, Stephen, Amy and Emily and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; his parents; one brother and one sister.
Gladys Eugenia Heaton
Gladys Eugenia Heaton, 82, Davis died Friday, May 12, 2006 in Ardmore with Krien Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
She was born September 17, 1923 in Houston, Texas to George Frank and Nellie Mae (Woodruff) Corse.
She attended college at Sam Houston State Teacher's College in Huntsville, Texas and three and one-half years at Baylor University.
During WW II, she worked for five years as a civilian secretary with the Army Air Corps.
She married Frank Heaton on June 17, 1952 in Waco, Texas.
She moved to Davis from Premont, Texas on June 11, 1956 and remained there until her death.
A devoted homemaker and mother, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Davis.
Surviving are her husband, Frank; three daughters, Darlene Coll, Davis, Louise Parker, Sulphur and Judy Gibson, Davis; one brother, Kenneth Corse, Falfurrias, Texas; two sisters, Elba Oswalt, Waco, Texas and Nellie Jackson, Huntsville, Texas; four grandchildren, Eric Coll, Blake Gibson, Breanne Gibson, all of Davis and Jordan Allen, Sulphur and two great-grandchildren, Megan and Maci Coll, Davis.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
