Leota Faye "Aunt Lo" Simco
Services for Leota Faye "Aunt Lo" Simco, 51, Sulphur, were held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, Nov. 25 at the First Baptist Church of Sulphur with Rev. Bill Leveridge officiating.
Interment was in Dougherty Cemetery with Krien Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Born January 5, 1954 in Sulphur to John Simco and Caroline (Parnacher) Eddy, she died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005 in Oklahoma City.
She grew up in Sulphur and attended Mid America Technology Center, obtaining her LPN license in 1987.
She was employed by Arbuckle Memorial Hospital where she enjoyed working in the nursing field for many years.
She is survived by two daughters, Miranda Simco and her husband, Corey Venegas, Sulphur and Meredith Sanders and her husband, Danny, McKinney, Texas; two brothers, Joe and Jack Eddy, both of Sulphur; two sisters, Mary Cain and Cindy Langford, both of Sulphur; a special friend, John Charles Simmons, Jr., of the home; two grandchildren, Dakota Simco, Sulphur and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Leon, Charlie and Calvin Eddy; two sisters, Helena Cain and Willetta Neeley and one grandchild, Andrea Saunders.
Joe Dale Saunders
Services for Joe Dale Saunders, 56, Dallas, Texas, were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22 at the First Baptist Church of Davis with Pastor Willard McCartney and Rev. Finis Steelman officiating.
Interment was in Green Hill Cemetery in Davis with Krien Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Born June 4, 1949 in Wynnewood to Otis "Bo" and Betty Jo (Green) Saunders, he died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005 in Dallas.
He married Deborah Lynn (Martin) Saunders on December 3, 1977.
He grew up in the Davis area and graduated from East Central University in Ada.
He spent most of his adult life in Texas, moving to Austin in 1973 and Dallas in 1994.
An avid sports' fan, he was quarterback on the football team and received high school prep All-American honors his senior year.
He is survived one son, James Bart Saunders; three daughters, Kerri Jo Brogden, Jennifer Lea Lancaster and Sara Elizabeth Saunders; three grandchildren, Meghan Kaye Brogden, Kiley Lea Brogden and John Hayes Lancaster; his father, Bo Saunders; a sister, Debbie Riddle; a brother, Mark Saunders and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jo Saunders in 1996.
Pallbearers were Wyatt Gibson, Tommy Williams, Jean Allen, Leon Melde, Richard McDaniel, Tommy McDaniel, Mark Saunders and Rodger Clemons.
Honorary bearers were Troy Brogden, Kevin Lancaster, Leno Ibarra, Danny McDaniel, Aaron Saunders and Brad Williams.
Paul Leonard
A memorial service for Paul Leonard, grandson of the late Sulphur doctor, Paul Annadown, was held at 10:00 a.m. On Saturday, Nov. 26 at his former residence, Emerald Square Assisted Living, 701 N. Council Road, Oklahoma City .
Born in Sulphur on Dec 1, 1935 to Hazel (Annadown) and Walter Wayne Leonard, he died Monday, Nov. 21, 2005, in a traffic accident in Oklahoma City.
Leonard was the first grandchild of Leila (Clark) and Dr. Paul Vivian Annadown.
Leonard was an engineer, graduating from UCLA, Los Angeles, California.
He was proud of his service in the army and of his affiliation with Triangle Fraternity of UCLA.
He is survived by his two daughters, Laura Leonard of Ft. Myers, Florida and Deidre Leonard of Camarillo, California; a sister, Leila Kay (Leonard) Menzies, Long Beach, Calif.; a brother, James Walter Leonard; a niece, Cecily and nephew, Michael, Buena Park, California and cousins, Paula (Holladay) Faulk, Erna (Henley) Elliott, Bobby Henley, all of Oklahoma City, Anita (Henley) Chambless, Edmond, and Sandra (Henley) Willson, also of Oklahoma City.
Lee Cruce Matthews, Sr.
Funeral services for Lee Matthews, Sr. was held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, Nov. 28, at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel, in Grove with Rev. Larry Kincheloe officiating, assisted by John Pinkerton.
Interment was at Oaklawn Cemetery, Sulphur, on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 1:30 p.m with Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Matthews, 95, died early Friday morning, Nov. 25, 2005 at Grand Lake Villa, Grove.
He was born July 22, 1910 at Tupelo, to Oliver and Ida Mae Matthews.
Lee grew up in Coal County and went on to work for the Oklahoma State Highway Department for 36 years, living in many different communities throughout the state following his work.
He married Katherine Geraldine Ford on December 8, 1999 at Miami.
Lee was a resident of the Grand Lake area for the past 26 years and was a member of the Church of God in Grove.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine, of the home; two sons, Lee Matthews, Jr., of Sulphur and Jerry Matthews, Kaufman, Texas; one daughter, Lawasson Pool, Burneyville; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and a sister.
Chester Laverne Reese, Jr.
Chester Laverne Reese, Jr., formerly of Sulphur, died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005 in Jacksonville, Fla.
He was born November 27, 1925 in Fairview to Chester and Mildred (Perkins) Reese.
He attended Oklahoma State School for the Deaf and following the death of his father in 1937, he and his family moved to Sulphur.
He worked for 13 years for the Sulphur Times-Democrat before moving to Stanton, Texas where he met and married Monna Caldwell Johnson on March 14, 1959.
He is survived by five children, Monnette Depue, Norman, Keith Reese and his wife, Sheri, Jacksonville, Fla., Karen Farmer, Mountain Home, Ark. and John Reese and his wife, Mary, Bayfield, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three sisters, Della Depue, Oklahoma City, Pasty and Fred Stewart, Hobart and Verla and Keith Unruh, Springhill, Kan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Monna; three sisters, Vivian, Bonnie and Rose Marie.
A memorial service will be held at Wilmont Place Baptist Church in Oklahoma City at a later date and interment will be in Llano, Texas.
Frank Beaver
Services for Frank Beaver, 91, Sulphur, were held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 2 at the Vinita Avenue Church of Christ with Rev. Richard Day and Allan Wynn officiating. Interment was in Oaklawn Cemetery with Clagg Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Born August 24, 1914 in Octavia, Okla. to William Francis Beaver and Ada E. Ferguson Beaver, he died Friday, April 28, 2006 in Wynnewood.
A retired plumber in this area for many years, he grew up in Octavia.
He moved to the Sulphur area at age 13.
He worked with the CCC program in Platt National Park and later worked for the Dolese company for 17 years.
He became a licensed plumber and worked at Oklahoma School for the Deaf until his retirement.
He married Lorene Gilbert on February 15, 1939 in Sulphur.
She preceded him in death on February 22, 1981.
On August 3, 1988, he married Vinita Pearson Brewer in Sulphur.
Survivors include his wife, Vinita, of the home; two daughters, Keatha Cagle and Sharon Talbert, both of Sulphur; a step-daughter, Fredia Gilbert, Sulphur; three sons, Dewey Beaver, Ontario, Calif., Jimmie Beaver, Oklahoma City and Kenneth Beaver, Bastrop, La.; two step-sons, Gerald Brewer, Oklahoma City and Randy Brewer, Sulphur; two brothers, Roy Beaver, Ada and Clyde Beaver, Jenks; one sister, Claretta Dark, Del City; 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Florence Lewis.
Pallbearers were Allen Beaver, Brett Beaver, Mike Woods, Josh Dale, Will Campbell and John Cagle, Jr.
G. B. Callaway
Services for G. B. Callaway, 81, were held last Saturday in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel in North Richland Hills, Texas with Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
He died Wednesday, April 26 in North Richland Hills.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a 50-year Scottish Rite Mason and Shriner.
A retired insurance man, he was a 42-year member of the Life Underwriters and was a long-standing member of the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by a son, G. B. Callaway, Jr. II and a daughter, Deborah Kay Callaway.
Surviving are his wife, Geneva; two daughters, Diana Callaway Fulks and husband, Gary, Atlanta, Texas and Donna Callaway Nugent, Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
