Mary Ruby Penley

Graveside services for Mary Ruby Penley, 92, Sulphur were held Wednesday, April 21 with Rev. J. D. Glover officiating.

Interment was in Oaklawn Cemetery with Cowley-Krien Funeral Home officiating.

Born January 6, 1912 in Ft. Cobb to Thomas E. Zimmerman and Sarah Elizabeth Boydston, she died Saturday, April 17, 2004 at Callaway Nursing Home.

Raised in Ft. Cobb area, she married Barney Penley in 1945 in Arizona.

She moved to Sulphur in 1960 where she lived the remainder of her life.

She was affiliated with the Pentecostal Holiness Church.

She is survived by four nephews, Bradford Maloney, Billy Joe Zimmerman, Audo Zimmerman, and James Haskell; five nieces, Evelyn Cook, Vivian Cox, Betty Zimmerman, Elemia Mark and Oleta Finley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Elva Annie Mink and Helen Melton; five brothers and four sisters.

Dennis Beavert

Services for Gary Dennis Beavert, 57, Sulphur, were held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 29, 2004, at Vinita Avenue Church of Christ in Sulphur with Tom Byrd officiating.

Burial followed at Box X Cemetery under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home.

Mr. Beavert died Thursday, May 27, 2004 at an Oklahoma City hospital.

He was born March 10, 1947, in Benton, Ark. to Carlos Chastain and Marie McClane Beavert.

He graduated from Benton High School in 1965.

He attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and Oklahoma Christian University.

Mr. Beavert worked in the Security Department at the Oklahoma School for the Deaf in Sulphur.

He was a member of Vinita Avenue Church of Christ in Sulphur.

He married Linda Cantrell on September 30, 1967, in Benton, Ark.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Beavert, of the home; two sons, Richard Dan Beavert and wife, Frances, Houston, Texas and Don Andrew Beavert, Midwest City; one sister, Gail Bieber, Morristown, Tenn. and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dwight Beavert and Phil Beavert.

Pallbearers were Gary Mink, Gary Allmon, Rick Kesler, Dave Hughes, Mike McCracken, Les Claggett and Louis Coberly.

The family requests those who wish may make memorials to World Bible School, c/o Vinita Avenue Church of Christ, 12th and Vinita, Sulphur, OK 73086.

Theresa Parenti

Theresa Parenti, 69, of Davis, died May 28, 2004, at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

Graveside services were June 1 at Green Hill Cemetery, Davis, with the Rev. Finis Steelman officiating

Ms. Parenti was born July 11, 1934, in Elmore City to Ramona Bernyce (Bradley) and Harvey Austin Neal.

Ms. Parenti grew up in Elmore City, where she graduated from high school.

She moved to Davis in 1960 and had lived in Davis and Sulphur for the past 44 years.

She began her own business in 1976, established under the name of "77 Grill, " which she owned and operated until her retirement in 1989.

Ms. Parenti was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sulphur and Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by both parents and a brother, Don Neal.

She is survived by five children, Randy Gibson, Henderson, Nev., and Anthony Parenti, Ramona Nanney and Shelly Hicks, all of Sulphur, and Kay Vernon, Davis; two brothers, Danny Neal, Liberal, Kan., and Sherrill Neal, Bentonville, Ark.; a sister, Beverly Mackey, Paul's Valley, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services were under the direction of Krien Funeral Home.

Bobby Eugene Jeter

Services for Bobby Eugene Jeter, 46, were held Saturday, May 29, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Fox Funeral Chapel with Rev. Randy Chapman officiating.

Interment was at Green Hill Cemetery under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.

Mr. Jeter was born September 27, 1957 in Wynnewood to Lee Roy and Olga (Arnold) Jeter.

He died May, 26, 2004 in Davis.

He lived in this area all his life.

He graduated from Davis High School and attended Mid-America Vo-tech and Murray State College to obtain his nursing license.

He worked at Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City and then at Mercy Memorial Health Center in Ardmore for over 18 years.

He is survived by his parents, LeeRoy and Olga (Arnold) Jeter, Davis; a sister Anita Eddy, Sulphur and a brother Rocky Jeter, Davis.

Pallbearers were Joe Eddy, Jr., Jimmy Jeter, Sam Johnson, Curtis Jones, Jeremy Eddy and Jerry Elliot.

Honorary bearers were Kenneth Jeter and Royce Dale Jones.

Lois Rachel Windham

Services for Lois Rachel Windham, 79, were held Thursday, May 27 at 10:00 a.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church of Davis with Rev. Randy Chapman officiating.

Interment was at Green Hill Cemetery under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.

She was born on September 2, 1924 in Bowie, Texas.

She died May 24, 2004 in Sulphur.

On February 13, 1958 she married Gayle Windham in Gainesville, Texas.

He preceded her in death on September 25, 1996.

Lois lived in the Davis area her entire life and graduated from Davis High School.

She worked at Sulphur Veterans Center for 26 years where she was chief of food services when she retired in 1983.

She was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Dorsie Tice, Ardmore and Clynell Freeman, Nicoma Park; two sons, Raymond McLaughlin, Norman and Jack Windham, Davis; three brothers, Leo Hignight, El Centro, Calif., Roy Hignight, Whitter, Texas and John Hignight, Oceanside, Calif.; 15 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren and special friend, Justin Rogalla. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Julia Mae George, Mary Pearl Profitt and Freddy Lor Hammon and one brother, Bobby George Hignight.

Pallbearers were John Powell, George Lee, Clifton LaNoy, Royce Jones, Jack Wright and Wayne Clemons.

Honorary bearers were George Cross, Don Davis, P.D. Kiser, and Dave Winters.

Steven Paul Daugherty

Services for Steven Paul Daugherty, 42, were held Saturday, May 29, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the Dougherty Baptist Church with Rev. Allen Richardson officiating.

Interment was at Dougherty Cemetery under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.

Mr. Daugherty was born December 30, 1961 in Sulphur to Billy Joe Daugherty and Margaret (Ramage) Daugherty.

He died on May 26, 2004 in Paul's Valley.

He lived his early life in the Sulphur and Dougherty areas and has lived in Paul's Valley since the age of six.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Margaret and Doug Akers, Dougherty, a brother Bryan Keith Daugherty, Davis and a sister, Jo Lynn Tigert, Sulphur.

Pallbearers were Monte Lucas, Terry Todd, David Billy, Monte Billy, Scott White and Kevin Sprague.
