Clomer Guinn
STIGLER, Okla. — Clomer Thomas Guinn, 72, of Stigler died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was born Aug. 5, 1932, in Kinta, Okla.
He was a mechanic and a member of the Free Will Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at R.E. Shearwood Memorial Chapel in Stigler with burial at Tamaha Cemetery in Tamaha, Okla., under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine; a daughter, Shanda Guinn of Stigler; two sons, Ray Guinn of Mulberry and Leon Guinn of Keota, Okla.; a sister, Kathy Beutleschies; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Starr, Willard Timmons Jr., Roy Timmons, James Davis, Larry Cobb, Kurt Bolinger, Loyd English, Thomas Reece and Pete Speer.
The body may be viewed from 1 to 8:30 p.m. today.
Irene Stubblefield
POCOLA — Irene Stubblefield, 88, of Pocola died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, in her home.
She was born May 5, 1916, in Clarita, Okla.
She was a member of the Church of Christ, managed Granny’s Hook & Needle Craft Store in Pocola for five years and was the widow of Henry Stubblefield.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Evans & Miller Funeral Home Chapel in Pocola with burial at Naval Ammunition Depot.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Shoemake of Pocola; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Don Shoemake, Rick Stout, Russell Gibson, Patrick Slaten, Jimmy Collie and Nathan Pero.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
Virgil Goodwin
VANDERVOORT — Virgil Louis Goodwin, 86, of Vandervoort died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, in Mena.
He was born Jan. 30, 1918, in Manitou, Okla.
He was a retired Baptist minister, a former volunteer at Baylor Hospital in Texas and involved in Meals on Wheels program.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Chatanooga, Okla., with burial at Frederick Cemetery in Frederick, Okla. Local arrangements under the direction of Hall Funeral Service of Mena.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; a daughter, LouAnn Hebron of Vandervoort; two sons, John Goodwin of Nucla, Colo., and James Goodwin of Burnswick, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Michael Hebron, Shawn and Ryan Goodwin, Charlie Blake, Lester Oschner and Arthur Ochner.
William Overcast
MENA, AR — William Edger Overcast, 82, of Mena, AR died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, in Mena.
He was born April 25, 1922, in Hartshorn, Okla.
He served in the Navy during World War II, and was a truck driver and a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Hall Funeral Service Memorial Chapel in Mena with burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife, Louise; two sons, Bill Overcast of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Larry Overcast of Lorena, Texas; a stepdaughter, Alicia Thompson of Dallas; two stepsons, Richard Ducote of Shreveport, La. and C.W. Ducote of Mena; a sister, Thelma Jett of Idaho Falls, Idaho; four brothers, Melvin and Lawrence Overcast, both of Shamrock, Texas, Claude Overcast of Mena, and Richard Overcast of Cedar Cree, Mo.; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Juanita Cagle
MULBERRY — Juanita Pearl Cagle, 93, of Mulberry died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, in Van Buren.
She was born April 8, 1911, in Muskogee County, Okla.
She was a homemaker, a Baptist, and the widow of Berchie Cagle.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Mulberry with burial at New Cemetery in Mulberry.
She is survived by three sons, Charles Cagle of the White Rock community, Billie Cagle of the Pleasant View community, and Kenneth Cagle of Alma; two sisters, Ruby Brink of Fresno, Calif., and Dorothy Nunes of Tulare, Calif.; two brothers, Orvil and Odell Wilbourn, both of Tulare, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 24 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Richard, Scott, Chad and Chris Cagle, and Wayne and Gary Williams.
Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Vesta Russell
LONGTOWN, Okla. — Vesta M. Russell, 89, of Longtown, Okla., died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, in Midwest City, Okla.
She was a member of Oakridge Baptist Church in Longtown and the widow of Roy Russell.
Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Enterprise Cemetery in Enterprise under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Stigler.
She is survived by two daughters, June Morris of Del City, Okla., and Wanda McFarland of Oklahoma City; a son, Eugene Russell of Oklahoma City; a brother, Billy King of Bixby, Okla.; 19 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Rusty and Steve Russell, Michael Spence, Robbie Morris, Roy McFarland, Jason Nichols, Jeffrey Phillips and J.P. McNeely.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home.
Afton Prewitt
KINTA, Okla. — Afton O. Prewitt, 78, of Kinta died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, in Oklahoma City.
He served in World War II and was a member of Kinta First Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Kinta First Baptist Church with burial at Quinton Cemetery in Quinton, Okla., under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of
Stigler, Okla.
He is survived by his wife, Dean; a daughter, Dee Carruth of Louisville, Ky.; a son, Ronnie Prewitt of Oklahoma City; a brother, Fred Prewitt of Choctaw, Okla.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Brandon, Craig and Ronnie Carruth, Lonnie Prewitt, Richard Hide and C.B. Coplen III.
The body may be viewed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
