Garthur D. Huss, 84, of Poteau, Okla. was born Sept. 17, 1913 in Cameron, Okla. He died Sunday, Apr. 5, 1998 at the Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center, Poteau. He was an employee with Arkansas Oklahoma Gas Corporation.
Graveside services
will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Apr. 7, 1998 at the Oakland Cemetery, Poteau, with Bro. Duane Weldon officiating.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Huss of the home; daughters, Judith Ann Kuechenmeister of Durant, Dorsey June Huss of Poteau; four grandchildren, Lorena Ann Johnson of Durant, Amy Lynn Weldon of Poteau, Joel Wayne Dodson of Ft. Smith, Ark., Piper Dee Dodson of Poteau; two great-grandsons, Scott E. and Kevin L. Johnson of Durant; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Garthur was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

Billy Edward "Slug" Meeh
Billy Edward "Slug" Meeh, 74, of Poteau, Okla., was born Feb. 9, 1924 in Heavener, Okla. He died Sunday, Apr. 5, 1998 at the Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center, Poteau. He was in the cleaning business.
Graveside services
will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Apr. 7, 1998 at the Vaughn Cemetery
in Gilmore, Okla., with the Rev. Jim Cook officiating.
He is survived by his wife, Luiebell Meeh of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Ron Cooper of Poteau; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Dilla Meeh of Wister; sisters, Frances Johnston of Hodgen, and Melinda Dennis of Wister; half-sister, Margarite Bourland of Texas; brothers, Jack Meeh of Oklahoma City, and David Meeh of Ft. Smith, Ark.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, loved ones, and many friends.
Bill was a member of Northside Christian Church. He loved music, both playing and singing. Bill and Luiebell were married
for 52 years.

Lois Faye Rhodes
Lois Faye Rhodes, of Van Buren, Ark. formerly of Spiro, Okla., died Tuesday, Apr. 7, 1998 in a Fort Smith hospital. She was a retired sales clerk.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Apr. 10, 1998 at the First Assembly of God with burial
at New Hope Cemetery, Spiro under the direction of the Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Rhodes of Van Buren, Ark. and Deanna Vines and her husband, Lendel of Van Buren; two sisters, Atha Williams of Cowlington, Okla. and Hester Gargus of Spiro; one brother, Earl McCann of Spiro; one granddaughter, Tammy Vines Curbow of Fayetteville, Ark.
Friends may visit with family 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Mallory Funeral Home in Spiro.
Priscilla Jane Cornell
Priscilla Jane Cornell, 42, of Poteau, Okla. died Monday, Apr. 6, 1998 in a Poteau hospital. She was a former resident of Heavener member of the Church of God Prophecy in Mena, Ark.

at Reichert Cemetery, Heavener under the direction of the Dowden Funeral Home, Heavener.
She is survived by her husband, Dale; Daughter, Peggy Cormany and husband, David of Poteau; Son, Daniel Cornell and wife, Kristy of Poteau; parents, C. L. and Leonora Williams of Heavener; two brothers, Cecil Williams of Howe and Randy Williams of Mena, Ark.; four special children, Charla, Dayla, Nacona, and Mandy.
John Burton Ford
John Burton Ford, 91, of Wister, Okla. was born May 15, 1906 at Witts Springs, Ark. He died Wednesday, Apr. 8, 1998 at the Oaks Health Care Center, Poteau. He was a retired Minister/Saw Mill-Grist Mill.
Services will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday, Apr. 10, 1998 at Church of God - Seventh Day with Chip Hinds officiating. Interment
at Oakland Cemetery, Poteau.
He is survived by his wife, Edith Ford of the home; four daughters, Lillie Bell Fitzpatrick of Denver, Colo., Betty Vanhook of Howe, Bonnie Brown of Poteau, and Faye Rockman of Heavener; seven sons, William Denver Ford of Wister, Jerry A. Ford of Poteau, Kenneth Ford of Little Axe, David Ford of Wister, Sammy Ford of Poteau, Charles Ford of Sallisaw, and Dennis Ford of Wister; one sister, Ruth Green of Alvord, Tex.; two brothers, Roy Ford of Red Oak and Joe Ford of Hillcrest, Calif.; 30 grandchildren; a number of great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, loved ones, and a host of friends.
He is preceded in death
by one son, Don Ford.
He was a member of Church of God - Seventh Day in Wister and Pastor of the Wister church for many years until his retirement.
Mr. Ford owned and operated the Saw Mill and Grist Mill in Wister for many years.

Jeannie Lynn (Noah) Potter, 29, of Poteau, Okla. was born Nov. 14, 1968 in Tulsa, Okla. She was an Emergency Medical Technician.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Apr. 11, 1998 at the Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau with the Rev. Jim Cook. Interment
at Oakland Cemetery, Poteau.
She is survived by her daughter, Mayci Jo Noah of the home; husband, Doyle E. Potter Sr., of Poteau; mother, Janice Calihan of Collinsville; father and stepmother, David and Leigh Ann Robison of Poteau; brothers, and sisters, Mary J. Smotherman and Melissa Smith, both of Tulsa, Lakota and Kaitlyn Robison of Okmulgee, and Matthew Robison of Okmulgee, step-brother, Phillip Smith of Okmulgee; grandmother, Twalla Robison of Poteau; two nephews; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other loved ones, and a host of friends.

Jerry Caldwell
Jerry Caldwell, 99, of, Okla., passed away
Thursday, Apr. 9, 1998 at his home. He was born Oct. 11, 1998 in Izard City, Ark. He was a retired owner of a cleaning and pressing business and a former Mayor of. Jerry was a member of the American Legion Post #222 for 71 years and as a very active member, he was instrumental in getting a doctor to move to by securing a building and he always placed flags on veteran's graves. He was one of the last living World War I Veteran in this area, having served in the U.S. Army 71st Regiment Coast Artillery Corp. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Funeral services
will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Apr. 11, 1998 at Mallory Funeral Chapel in with Rev. Charles Jenson and Dr. Jeff Lamp officiating. Burial
will follow at City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of.
He is survived by a daughter, Joan Derryberry of Bartlesville; five sisters, Eva Jenson, Sibyle Ollie and Mollie Bennett, both of Poteau, Lenora Belding of North Carolina, and Fern Hargrove of Paris, Tex; two brothers, Jack Caldwell of Boynton and Joe Caldwell of Hugo; two grandchildren, Jay Garrison Derryberry and Jo Tricia Knight, both of Bartlesville; five great-grandchildren, Dee Garrison Derryberry, Matthew Caldwell Derryberry, Amanda Gayle Derryberry, Erin Patricia Green and Toby Garrison Derryberry; and his caretaker for many years, Lucille Owens.
He is preceded in death
by his wife, Lucy Caldwell; two grandsons, Eric Shane Derryberry and Jan Hoyle Derryberry; a son-in-law, Col. Don Garrison Derryberry; and two brothers, Clyde and Henry Caldwell.
Pallbearers will be Mack Avery, Don Odom, Gene Williamson, Bob Roland, Garland Gibbs, and Jack Craig.
Honorary pallbearers will be George Abrahams, Lattie Hoyle and Willis Ferrell, Ray Baker, Bob and Phil Manke, Ron Owens, Woodrow Bond, and Jay Derryberry.
Charles Wilson
Charles Wilson, 80, of Heavener, Okla. died Thursday, Apr. 9, 1998 in a Ft. Smith hospital, Ft. Smith, Ark.
He was a Veteran of World War II, member of first United Methodist Church, the VFW, the American Legion, a former school board member, the LeFlore County Democratic party, former Mayor of Heavener, am member of the LeFlore County War Memorial Committee.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia; daughters, Donna Wilson of Ann Arbor, MI and Carla Cogburn of Heavener; son, Sam Wilson of Heavener; sister, Ruth Sanford of Heavener; grandchildren, Cortney Cogburn, Sean Wilson, Clancy Wilson, all of Heavener.
Ervin Andrew "Whitey" Nichols
Ervin Andrew "Whitey" Nichols, 77, of Whitesboro, Okla. passed away
Apr. 9, 1998 in Talihina, Okla. He was born Apr. 20, 1920 in Muse, Okla. to Hampy and Vada Pugh Nichols. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. during World War II and was honorably discharged. He was a member of the Protestant Faith. He had been a plumber and pipe fitter in Albuquerque, NM for 31 years. he was a member of Local Union 412 in Albuquerque. He married
Oleta McNew on Oct. 11, 1974 at Belton, Tex. He was a member of AF and AM Lodge #73 of Talihina, where he served as a Tyler and a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 325. He was a 32 degree Master Mason member of the McAlester Conservatory and a Shriner of the Bedouin Temple of Muskogee VFW 2300 in the LeFlore County Shriners Club in Talihina.
He is survived by his wife, Oleta McNew Nichols of Whitesboro; four sons, Ervin Eugene Nichols of Mississippi, David Andrew Nichols of Portales, NM, John Richard Nichols of Poteau, Hampy Lewis Nichols of Mississippi; three daughters, Ruby LaVerne Obnhause of Gallup, NM, Patricia Fay Mathis of Portales, Edith Gayle of North of Kinsland, Tex.; two step-sons, Jim Cain of Fallon, NV and Bob Cain of Santa Maria, Calif; two step-daughters, Catherine Reed of Denver City, Tex. and Linda booth of Sallisaw; two brothers, Marvin Nichols of Talihina and Gerald Loftis of Wilburton; one sister, Hazel Kelly of Modesto, Calif.; 36 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren and numerous friends and loved ones.
Services will be held Monday, Apr. 13, 1998 at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Whitesboro with Rev. Alvie Branscum officiating. Burial
will be at the Muse Cemetery.

Leah L. (Atchison) Moore
Leah L. (Atchison) Moore, of Ft. Smith, Ark., died at the age of 84 on Tuesday, March 31, 1998 at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center in Ft. Smith, Ark.
She was born on December 29, 1913 in Kell, Illinois and she was a homemaker.

will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 3, 1998 at Mt. View Cemetery
in Glendale, OK with the Rev. Phil Whitten officiating.
Moore is survived by her two daughters: Mary Hankins of Ft. Smith, Ark., Patricia Labiaso of Houston, Tx.; one son, Charles Fogliasso of Centralia, Ill.; one sister, Irene Easley of Dix, Ill.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grand children; two great great-grand children; and other relatives and loved ones.
Leah was a member of the Oak Cliff Baptist Church and a former resident of Wister, Ok.

Friday, Mar. 27, 1998 at her residence. She was a Cosmetologist.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Mar. 30, 1998 at the Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau with Steve Johnson officiating. Interment
will be at the Fairhill Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Frank A. Ball of the home; daughters, and sons-in-law, Melodie A. and Andrew R. Huckins of Fayetteville, AR, Mindy and Patrick Leary of Plano, TX, Tiffany Ball of the home; granddaughter, Allysha L. Huckins of Fayetteville, AR; brothers, Warren and Donnie Nixon both of Cartersville, OK, Roger Nixon of Manhattan, KS; sisters, Jackie Drummond of Cartersville, June Jordan of McCurtain; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Clara Tolbert, 93, of McCurtain, was born Sept. 24, 1904 in Milton, Okla. to Turner and Lena (Abernathy) Leflore.
She died Sunday, Mar. 29, 1998 in Spiro, Okla. She was Homemaker, member of the Bible church in McCurtain, and lifetime resident of McCurtain area.
She is preceded in death
by her husband, Elzy Tolbert; her parents; one daughter, Virginia Tolbert; three sons, Daniel, Charles, and James Earl Tolbert; one sister, Georgia Mecom.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Mar. 31, 1998 at Mallory Chapel in Stigler with Rev. John Bates and Rev. Leonard Karch officiating. Interment
will follow at Milton Cemetery
under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home.
She is survived by three daughters, Jean Blaylock of McCurtain, Thelma Fout of Santa Marie, CA, and Blanche Martin of Harrah, Okla.; one sister, Olean Horton of Bokoshe; one brother, J.E. Tolbert of Broken Arrow; 14 grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren.
Tony D. Wagnon
Tony D. Wagnon, 18, of Cameron, Okla. was born July 5, 1979 in Poteau, Okla. He died Saturday, Mar. 28, 1998 at his residence in Cameron. He was a student.

were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Mar. 30, 1998 at Greenhill Cemetery, Cameron with the Rev. Jim Cook officiating.
He is survived by his two sisters, Christy Pendergrass of Heavener and Sharla Wagnon of Cameron; grandparents, Ellis and Ruby Pendergrass of Cameron; uncles and aunts, Brenda Rowton, Peggy Pendergrass, both of Cameron, and Ronnie and Hazel Pendergrass of Perkins; cousins, Brad Pendergrass of Cameron, Randy and Becky Pendergrass of Perkins, and David Myers of Cameron; other relatives and a host of friends, and the two special people in his life, Blake Dameron and Colton Shawn Garrett.
Tony is preceded in death
by his mom Evlyn Anderson.
