MAXINE STEIN
Services for Maxine Stein of Tuttle were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001 at Marantha Baptist Church, Newcastle. Rev. J.T. Pendergraft officiated.
Maxine Stein was born Glenna Maxine Coleman on April 26, 1920 in Oakwood, Okla. to John and Oleta Coleman. She went to with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001.
Maxine grew up in and around the Oakwood, Fay and Watonga areas with three brothers and a sister. She graduated from Oakwood High School in May of 1938 and married Lester W. Stein on Aug. 10 of that same year at Watonga.
Maxine worked alongside her husband, who was a carpenter/builder. Together they built and remodeled several homes in the Watonga area.
Maxine was a very active member of the First Church of the Nazarene for many years. Just a few of the ways in which she served included teaching Sunday School, being NWMS President, Box-work Links Chairperson, and Church Board Member.
Lester and Maxine moved from Watonga to Tuttle in 1994 and both have been attending the Tuttle Church of the Nazarene and the Marantha Baptist Church near Newcastle.
While in Tuttle, Lester and Maxine enjoyed attending the local Senior CitizenŐs Center in Newcastle and made a host of wonderful friends. In her spare time, Maxine enjoyed gardening, taking care of her many plants and flowers, reading her Bible, and many types of needlework.
Surivors include her husband, Lester W. Stein of the home in Tuttle, to whom she was married for 62 years; three children, Harlan Stein and wife Shirley of Tuttle; Adra Plumlee and husband Clyde of Hinton; Rhonda Harris and husband, Merle of Oklahoma City; one brother, Robert D. Coleman and wife Jean of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren, Rick Stein and wife Lou Ann, Kim Crenshaw and husband Taylor, Chad Stein and wife Nikki, Nathan Stein and wife Becky, Dana Everett and husband Jerry, and Dr. Joe M. Harris; two great grandchildren, Shantael Stein and Kyle Stein; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Oleta Coleman; one sister, Norma Tower; and three brothers, Richard 'Dick' Coleman, William 'Bill' Coleman and an infant brother, Marlin Lee Coleman.
Interment was in the Watonga IOOF Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, in Watonga under the direction of the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home in Hinton.
PAUL PATTERSON
Paul Patterson, 63, of Bethany passed away Jan. 28, 2001. He was born July 6, 1937 in Dalhart, Texas, to James and Bertha Thomas Patterson.
He moved in the Oklahoma City metro area in 1983, coming from the Bridge Creek area. He was a charter member of the Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Linda Faye Patterson; a brother, David Patterson; and two sisters, Gertrude Leatherman and LeEtta Patterson.
Survivors include four daughters, Janice Wilson of Oklahoma City, Sue Ollison and husband, Earl, of Bridge Creek, Jill Thomas and husband Jeff of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Brenda Howell and husband Terry of Collierville, Tenn.; three brothers, Dean Patterson and wife Esther of Arkansas; James Patterson and wife Anna of Mannsville, Okla., and Doyle Patterson and wife June of Paradise, Texas; three sisters, Mildres DeArmond and husband Oliver of Bedford, Texas, Rita Shaw and husband Sam of Broken Arrow, and Virginia Christopher and husband Dale of El Reno; 10 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Services were held on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Smith & Turner Mortuary. Interment was in the Yukon Cemetery.
Services were under the direction of Smith & Turner Mortuary, Yukon.
JAMES WALTER 'J.W.' RATCLIFFE, JR.
Graveside service for James Walter 'J.W.' Ratcliffe, Jr., 88, of Tuttle was held Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001 at 10 a.m. at the Fairview Cemetery in Tuttle. Rev. Cletis Lee of Amber officiated.
James Walter 'J.W.' Ratcliffe was born April 1, 1912 in Minco to James Walter Ratcliffe, Sr. and Olivia (Letsinger) Ratcliffe and died Jan. 20, 2001 in Oklahoma City.
J.W. married Anna Belle Vanwey on Nov. 13, 1965 in Columbia, Tenn. He had retired from farming and ranching, but had worked in the funeral industry for 50 years. He was a member of the Tuttle United Methodist Church, the Red Red Rose, the Tuttle Roundup Club and the Tuttle Jaycees.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one stepdaughter, Patsy Ann Estes.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Belle Ratcliffe of the home in Tuttle; two stepdaughters, Mary Bell of Lawton and Donna Sue Canary of Noble; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery, Tuttle, under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home, Minco.
HAZEL DEANN BERGIN
Funeral service for Hazel Deann Bergin, age 56 of Tuttle, was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at the Tuttle First Baptist Church. Rev. Eddie Critchfield of Minco officiated.
Hazel was born the daughter of Mary Elizabeth McBride Holsey and Robert Wayne Holsey on May 29, 1947, at Tuttle. She died Sunday, March 14, 2004 at Tuttle, Okla.
She was a lifetime resident of Tuttle and attended Tuttle High School. She married Wayne Cornelius Bergin on April 18, 1980, at Oklahoma City.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Freddie Joe Holsey. She was also preceded in death by her son David Lee Daugherty, her daughter Amanda Ann “Mandy” Bergin, and her granddaughter Ashley Deann Daugherty.
Survivors include her husband Wayne of the home; son and his wife Michael and Marty Daugherty of Oklahoma City, son Ricky Daugherty of Sacremento, Calif., son Kevin Daugherty of Tuttle; daughter and her husband Becky and John Winsor of Temple, Texas; daughter and her husband Christy and Lonnie LeMaster of Mustang; daughter Peggy Bergin of Tuttle; brother Bobby Holsey of Goldsby, brother Clifford Holsey of Tuttle; sisters Lou South and Jean Ransome of Tuttle; and 13 grandchildren.
Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Tuttle, by Binyon Funeral Home, Tri City area, Blanchard.
JESSE EARL COCHRAN
Memorial services for Jesse Earl Cochran, 81, of Tuttle were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 22, 2004 at the Fairview Cemetery Chapel in Tuttle.
Jesse Earl Cochran was born March 9, 1923 in Tuttle to Turner and Susan Belle (Downing) Cochran and died March 14, 2004 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Mr. Cochran lived in Tuttle all of his life except during his military service. He served in the U.S. Navy for eight years, two months, and eight days.
He and Ann Rooney were married April 21, 1954 in Tuttle and she preceded him in death.
Mr. Cochran was a member of the American Legion and the Tuttle Christian Church.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Cochran is survived by one sister and her husband: Thelma Chincie and Dick Ross of Tuttle; her daughter, Susie Ross Clark and husband Frank; her son, Allen Ross and wife Angie; his wife’s daughter: Bernice Haney Corley of Tuttle; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
MARY FRANCIS PERRY PHENIX
Mary Francis Perry Phenix, a loving wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother passed from this world into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on March 13, 2004.
She was born February 12, 1935 in Tuttle, Okla. where she grew up and attended school.
Mary retired from the State of Oklahoma Department of Transportation after many years of loyal service.
Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Lillian Perry Thompson, her father, Vernon (Curly) Melvin Perry and one brother Glen Peck.
She is survived by her husband, William (Bill) Phenix of the home; one brother: Vernon Charles Perry of Oklahoma City; daughter: Gail Lynette Wariner Beasley of Bethany, Okla.; sons: Steve Cyotee of Bridge Creek, Okla., Dwight Calvin Wariner of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Bill’s children: Tammy Garrigan of Vancleave, Miss., Paula Wood of Edmond, Okla. and William (Greg) Phenix of Tulsa, Okla.; eleven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; three sons-in-law; one granddaughter in law; two grandsons in law; and four nieces.
Mary’s greatest joy, love and passion were her children and grandchildren with whom she enjoyed spending her time with.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 18, at 11 a.m. in the Calvary Temple in Edmond with burial following in Arlington Cemetery in Midwest City. Services were under the direction of the Matthews Funeral Home of Edmond.
The family request that memorials be made in her name to the American Heart Association.
KENNETH DALE BROWN
Funeral services for Kenneth Dale Brown, 40, of Tuttle will be held Thursday, March 25 at 2p.m. at the House of Joy, 7200 South Walker, Oklahoma City, under the direction of John M. Ireland, Moore.
JOHN ALBERT PAREDEZ
Funeral services for John Albert Paredez, 25, of Tuttle were held at 3:30 pm, Thursday, January 27, 2005 in the Sowers Memorial Chapel, Tuttle.
John Albert Paredez was born September 25, 1979 in San Diego, California and died January 23, 2005 in Tuttle.
John was a loving son and father.
He is survived by: one daughter: Alicia S. Paredez; parents: David Rueben and Tammy Paredez, Cori and Doug Schnider; brother: Christopher T. Paredez and wife Summer; sister: Stephinie Challis and husband Tommy; sister: Amanda Salomon and husband Manuel; brother: Keith Ellis; sister: Sara Schnider; grandparents, great grandfather, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery, Tuttle, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home of Tuttle.
SUSIE CANARY
Graveside services for Susie Canary, 78, of Blanchard were held at 1:30 pm Tuesday February 1, 2005 at Fairview Cemetery in Tuttle.
Susie Canary was born December 30, 1926 in Tuttle, Oklahoma to Fred and Savannah (Rowell) McBride. She died Saturday, January 29, 1905 in Oklahoma City.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church. She had lived around Tuttle all of her life and attended Tuttle Schools. Susie liked to camp, fish, cook, and go to garage sales. She also enjoyed yard work, shopping, eating out and playing games. She enjoyed being with her family.
She and Osten Canary were married April 30, 1946 in Chickasha. He preceeded her in death.
She was also preceeded in death by her parents; one son: Osten L. Canary; one daughter: Margarete Canary; two brothers: Jack McBride and Elzie “Pat” McBride; and one sister: Mary Holsey.
Survivors include: one daughter: Margie Canary of Blanchard; three brothers and their wives: Lee and Betty McBride of Tuttle, James and Beth McBride of Oklahoma City, Myrl and Gloria McBride of Oklahoma City; one sister: Sarah Defibaugh of Oklahoma City; three sister in laws: Maudeen McGregor of Tuttle, Violet Canary of Blanchard, Laura Carter of Stroud, Oklahoma; two brother in laws: Finis Canary of Blanchard, Gerald Don Canary of Fairland, Oklahoma, two grandchildren: Samantha and Lane Woods of Union City; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Interment was in Fairview Cemetery, Tuttle under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home of Tuttle.
JAMES M. HUTCHISON, JR.
Funeral services for James M. Hutchison, Jr. age 71 of Tuttle, Oklahoma were held 1:30 pm Tuesday, January 25, 2005 in the Snow Hill Baptist Church in Tuttle.
James M. Hutchison Jr. was born March 12, 1933 in Waldon, Oklahoma. He died Friday, January 21, 2005 in Tuttle. Mr. Hutchison had lived in Tuttle for almost 40 years. He worked for ATT Lucent for 25 years and retired 10 years ago. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was in the Korean Conflict where he received the Purple Heart and was in the Military Police. Mr. Hutchison was a member of the Snow Hill Baptist Church.
Mr. Hutchison was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Hutchison on January 5, 1997; one brother: Joe Hutchison; his parents: James M. Hutchison, Sr. and Ethel Stevens Hutchison and his stepmother Thelma Hutchison.
Survivors include: three daughters and their husbands: Sharon and Robert Walters of Mustang, Oklahoma, Penny and Chuck Willett of Oklahoma City, Helen and David Grace of Oklahoma City; one son: David Canary and his wife Anita of Guthrie; two brothers: Fred H. Hutchison of Oklahoma City and James A. Hutchison of Tuttle; nine grandchildren: Amber and Nathan Walters, Kyle, Jason and Cody Canary, Mariah and Ethan Peace, Nicole Willett, John Robert Zimmerman, Jr.
Interment was in Fairview Cemetery, Tuttle, Oklahoma under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home of Tuttle.
JOE RICHARD CONNER
Funeral services for Joe Richard Conner, 88, of Tuttle, Oklahoma were held at 1:30 pm, Thursday, January 27, 2005 at the Tuttle First Baptist Church.
Joe Richard Conner was born October 5, 1916 in Pocasset, Oklahoma the son of John and Nellie (Oliver) Conner and died January 25, 2005 at Southwest Medical Center, Oklahoma City.
Joe married Vergie Lou (Robinett) on August 2, 1940 at the Tuttle Methodist Parsonage. They were married for 64 years. Both Joe and Vergie are members of the First Baptist Church. Joe was a lifetime farmer around the Tuttle Community.
Joe was preceded in death by his father and mother; two brothers; one sister; and two grandsons.
Survivors include: his wife: Vergie Lou Conner of the home; two sons: Bobby Joe and Jenna Conner of Blanchard; J.B. and Pearl Conner of Tuttle; one daughter: Anna Louise Bromlow of Tuttle; two brothers: Twin, Jack Conner of Midland, Texas, Warren Conner of Katy, Texas; one sister: Lorene Gourley of Ozona, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery, Tuttle, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
