Terri Jean Owens
Terri Jean Owens, age 57 of Altus, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, February 10, 2005 in Purcell,
Oklahoma. She was born August 21, 1947 in Hollis, Oklahoma to Eugene Wilson and Doylene (Philpot) Wilson.
On December 23, 1985 in Wellington, Texas Terri and Leon Owens were united in marriage. They had lived
in the Altus community since 1998. Terri worked at various hospitals and nursing homes caring for the sick and
aging as a devoted Licensed Vocational Nurse.
Terri was a member of the First Baptist Church in Altus where she thoroughly enjoyed working each
Wednesday evening assisting in the preparation and serving of the church fellowship dinner. She was a very
devoted mother and grandmother, “She loved her Grandchildren”. Terri had many hobbies she enjoyed but
“Fishing” was at the top of her list.
She is survived by her husband Leon Owens of the home in Altus, Oklahoma; four children Craig Rippetoe
and wife Karla of Hollis, Oklahoma, Shaun Owens and wife Anne of Mangum, Oklahoma, Cindy Whitten and
husband Mark of Washington, Cristi Myers and husband Emery of Mangum, Oklahoma. Terri is also survived by
one sister Phyllis Webb of Dodson, Texas and one brother Randy Wilson of Altus, Oklahoma, and eleven
grandchildren, Jordan, Shyan, Kerrie, Shaunna, Destinie, Zoey, Dakota, Skyler, Stetson, Cade and Bailee. She
is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter and an infant granddaughter Stormi Whitten.
Funeral Service for Terri Owens is scheduled for Monday, February 14, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the First
Baptist Church, Altus with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the
direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Garry Julian Palmore
Garry Julian Palmore, age 58, longtime resident of Altus, passed away Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006 at Jackson County
Memorial Hospital. Services have been scheduled for 2:00 pm, Friday, March 3, 2006 at Lowell-Tims Funeral
Home. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Garry was born May 12, 1947 in McCurtain, Oklahoma. He was the son of Earl and Ella (Dayberry) Palmore. He
has worked in maintenance for Southwest Enterprise in Altus for many years. Garry attended the First Assembly of
God Church in Altus. He was a very special individual with a very loving personality. He loved dancing and listening
to country music, especially songs by Loretta Lynn. He took great pride in participating in the Special Olympics and
had many medals for his efforts. Garry’s memory will be greatly cherished by the many whose lives he has touched.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
He is lovingly survived by three sisters, Marjorie Cherry of Texarkana, Texas, Barbara Glenn and husband Jody of
Altus, Oklahoma, and Beverly Shaffer and husband Darrold of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; one brother, Larry Palmore
and wife Bonita of Altus, Oklahoma; and by several nieces, nephews and many friends.
BULAH LEE PARKER
Bulah Lee Parker, age 95, passed away at her home, northeast of Altus on December 31, 2004. Funeral services will
be Monday, January 3, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Friendship Baptist Church with Reverend Madison Clinton officiating.
Internment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery with Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Bulah was born south of Olustee, Oklahoma to J.D. & Callie Drury. She married Henry Grady Parker in Olustee in
1927. They lived in the Olustee community until 1954 when they bought their farm northeast of Altus. Grady and
Bulah were married 76 wonderful years before his death on May 19, 2004. Beulah was a homemaker and worked for
Altus Public Schools as a cook for many years. She enjoyed fishing, crocheting, playing cards and dominoes with her
family. Beulah was a loving grandmother, mother and sister who dearly loved her family and was a longtime member
of the Friendship Baptist Church.
Bulah was preceded in death by her husband, Grady; a son, Wilton Parker; a daughter, Myrna Wrabel; seven
brothers; a granddaughter Rhonda Price; and a great granddaughter Michelle Cook.
Bulah is survived by her grandchildren; Danny Thompson, David Butterbaugh, Barbara Baartman, Sally George, and
Elizabeth McCuistion of Altus, Oklahoma; Jimmy Butterbaugh of Arlington, Texas; Billy Cook of Houston, Texas;
Janet Allen of San Antonio, Texas; Roberta Enright of Midwest City, Oklahoma; Margaret Disney of Dallas, Texas;
Robbie LaMunyon of Olustee, Oklahoma; and Mary Smith; twelve great grandchildren and two great-great
grandchildren; two sisters; Iva Hatton of Altus, Oklahoma and Lela Smalling of Stephenville, Texas.
The family of Bulah Parker will greet friends Sunday evening January 2, 2005 from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at
Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Henry Grady Parker
Henry Grady Parker, age 101, was born October 20, 1902 in Cullman, Alabama and passed from this life
Wednesday, May 19, 2004. Funeral services will be Friday, May 21, 2004, at 1:00 pm at the Friendship Baptist
Church with Reverend Madison Clinton officiating. Internment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery with Lowell-Tims
Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Grady moved to Olustee in 1924 and married Beulah Lee Drury in 1927. They lived in the Olustee community until
1954 when they bought their farm Northeast of Altus. Grady and Beulah were married 76 wonderful years. Grady
farmed in Jackson County all of his life, raising wheat and cotton, but was best known for his watermelons and
peaches. He loved hunting and fishing and did his share of both. Grady was a longtime member of Friendship Baptist
Church.
Grady was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers; a son, Wilton Parker; a daughter, Myrna Wrable;
a granddaughter Rhonda Price; and a great granddaughter Michell Cook.
Grady is survived by his wife Beulah, of the home, grandchildren; Danny Thompson of Altus, Oklahoma, Jimmy
Butterbaugh of Arlington, Texas, Billy Cook of Houston, Texas, Janet Allen of San Antonio, Texas, Roberta Enright of
Midwest City, Oklahoma and David Butterbaugh of Altus, Oklahoma; nine great grandchildren and two great-great
grandchildren.

Parker
Merrill Ann (Davis) Parker was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on December 21, 1933. She passed away
quietly at her home Friday, November 29, 2008. All of her daughters and their families were at her bedside.
Merrill Ann grew up in Altus, Oklahoma and graduated from Altus High School in 1950. She made her home in
Altus her entire life. Merrill Ann worked for Southwest Oklahoma Community Action and was the director for
Oklahoma Rural Opportunities where she retired. She continued to work as an accountant for a local CPA firm
and later worked for Denny Gabler at Tri Co Oil and Gas and as an accountant for George Bros. Pest Control for
the past twenty years. She also had her own income tax service.
Merrill Ann was an avid bridge player and one of her major accomplishments was when she became an
accomplished Life Master. She enjoyed attending all of the activities her twelve grandchildren were involved in.
She was preceded in death by her father Robert G. Davis, her mother Evelyn M. Davis and her sister Sally Jane
Dantzler.
She is survived by her six daughters Robbe LaMunyon, her husband Danny, her sons Christopher Groves and
Jacob LaMunyon. Sally George, her husband Gobel, her daughter Amanda and husband Lee Walling, her sons
Drew, Brady, Tyler, and step-son Blane George and wife Sandy. Merry Smith and husband Randy, her son Shane
McKee and daughter Skylar Smith. Margaret Disney and her son Tommy. Elizabeth McCuistion and husband
Danny, and her daughters Whitney and Chelsea, and Barbara Parker.
She is also survived by a brother in law Bob Dantzler and her nieces Alice Dantzler and Nancy Dantzler and her
daughters Maryanne and Abigail. She also leaves numerous friends and a special best friend Jan Jasay.
A celebration of the life of Merrill Ann will be held Tuesday December 2nd at 4 p.m. at the First Presbyterian
Church of Altus. Contributions in lieu of flowers would be appreciated. Please send to First Presbyterian Church of
Altus or JCMH Hospice or any charity of your choice. The Family will greet friends Monday night 6:30-7:30 p.m.
at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Parrish
Dorothy Parrish died September 15, 2007, in Altus, Oklahoma, her home since 1935. A person of indomitable spirit
whose life was defined by love for family, graceful hospitality, and glorious sense of humor, Dorothy was born
September 3, 1918, in Prairie Hill, Oklahoma. She served as church pianist before moving to Altus, Oklahoma,
where she began junior college. There she met her future husband, James William “Cactus Jim” Parrish. They were
married fifty-four years.
During the Korean War, while Jim and his two younger brothers fought overseas, Dorothy served as a beacon of
strength for countless family members and friends. The letters she received from Jim during his military service remain
some of her most valuable possessions.
Known as “Dot” by her many friends, she was a strong, faithful, outspoken and proud woman. She loved cooking
for large groups of family and friends, boating, knitting, needlepoint, attending OSU sporting events, traveling, giving
free manicures to the lucky and deserving, and shopping. She and Jim served as Altus High class parents for their
sons and were chaperones on countless out-of-town wrestling trips in all forms of weather. She was a wonderful and
compassionate wife, mom, sister, and friend. She will be sorely missed by all who were the recipient of her love,
laughter, and grace.
Dot was preceded in death by her mother Mary Watson, stepfather Walter Watson, sister Jane Summers, and
husband James William Parrish. She is survived by her sons, James and his wife Jacquelyn of Altus, Kim and his wife
Sarah Lee of Oklahoma City; niece Betty Onan Altus; grandchildren Murry Parrish, Scott Coburn Parrish, Holly
Payne, and Caroline Parrish; great-grandchildren Justin Payne, Clayton Payne, Gracie Payne, Lucy Parrish, Will
Parrish, Jackson Parrish, and Madison Parrish.
Mrs. Parrish’s family requests that memorial gifts be made to the Altus Public Library.
The family will greet friends at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home, Monday, September 17 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, September 18, at the First United Methodist Church in Altus
with Reverend Margie Van Oostrum officiating. Interment will follow at Altus City Cemetery.
Parrish
Jo Ann (Ryan) Parrish, age 74, passed away Friday, June 24, 2005, in Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Services
have been scheduled for 2:00 pm, Monday, June 27, 2005 in Lowell-Tims Chapel with Reverend Jim Brown officiating.
Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Jo Ann was born March 15, 1931 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Andrew James Ryan and
Clarice Turner. She moved to Altus in 1945 where she graduated from Altus High School in 1949. She married
Ronald Parrish May 6, 1949 and were blessed with six wonderful children.
Jo Ann had various jobs including Activities Director at English Village Manor. She also worked for several years as
a private duty home care provider. Jo Ann was very active in the Altus Alumni and was very proud and involved in the
lives of her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Andrew James Ryan; mother, Claries Turner; and by Ronald Parrish.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Ronda Parrish Dart and husband, Robby of Oklahoma City, Stuart Parrish of
Altus, Matt Parrish and wife Lisa of Oklahoma City, Andrea Smith and husband Randy of Altus, Tracy Harris and
husband Cliff of Tucson, AZ, and Jeff Parrish of Altus; one brother, Andy Ryan and wife Benda of Tucson, AZ; six
grandchildren, Rachel Hudgens, Alishia Parrish, Casey Smith, Starla Parrish, Renae Ross and Nikki Smith; two
great-grandchildren, Jayde Hudgens and Enterprise Daye Parrish; and her nephew, Jamie Ryan of Oklahoma City.
The family will receive guests Sunday evening from 6:30 until 8:00 pm at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Elva Lee Parsley
Elva Lee Parsley age 71, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2005 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City,
Oklahoma.
She was born to Marshall and Bertha M. (Brown) Cooper on December 16, 1933 in Globe, Oklahoma.
Lee married James “Pete” Parsley, November 8, 1952 in Altus, Oklahoma. She was a member of the First Baptist
Church of Altus. She loved flowers, gardening, playing with her grandchildren and drinking coffee.
She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Bill Cooper, Doc Cooper and William Cooper Jr. and two
sisters, Estell Piercy and Dora Hillbolt.
Lee is survived by her loving husband, James “Pete” Parsley, of the home, three children; Jamie Lynn Parsley and wife
Marsha of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Marsha Lee Loos and husband Carmen of Altus, Oklahoma and Melody Renee
McDaniel and husband Josh of Cache, Oklahoma. One brother, Carl Cooper of Mesa, Arizona, two sisters, Vivian
Hartsfield, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, Rachel White of Chickasha, Oklahoma, ten grandchildren and eight great
grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday, March 31, 2005 at 2:00pm at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating.
Interment will follow at the Hess Cemetery. Under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

James R. “Pete” Parsley
James R. “Pete” Parsley age 77, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2005, at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in
Lawton, Oklahoma.
He was born to Allen M. Parsley and Viola Mae (Rooker) Parsley on June 2, 1927, in Hess, Oklahoma.
Pete married Elva Lee Cooper on November 8, 1952, in Altus, Oklahoma, Elva Lee passed away March 27, 2005.
He was a life long resident of Jackson County, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Altus, Oklahoma. He
loved county music and singing to his wife and family.
Pete is survived by one son, Jamie Lynn Parsley and wife, Marsha of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two daughters,
Marsha Lee Loos and husband, Carmen of Altus, Oklahoma and Melody Renee McDaniel and husband, Josh of
Cache, Oklahoma; one brother, Elmer Parsley and wife, Bonnie Fay of Altus, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren and nine
great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elva Lee Parsley; and two sisters, Margene Moore and Bell Burleson.
Services will be held Monday, May 23, 2005, at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating.
Interment will follow at the Hess Cemetery, under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Alda Madge Patton
Alda Madge Patton was born January 22, 1912 in Utica, Oklahoma, to Louis and Edna Lee Linville. She passed
away March 1, 2004, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Alda received her teaching certificate from Southeastern State College and taught several years in Utica. Later, she
received her bachelor’s degree from Southwestern State College in Weatherford.
In 1931 she married the loved of her life, Elbert Patton, and shared sixty-five years with him. For 33 of those years,
she and Elbert taught in several schools in southwestern Oklahoma, retiring from Lawton schools.
Alda was never happier than when she was reading a good book, cooking special meals for her loved ones or
writing family history.
She was preceded in death by he parents, husband Elbert, and her brother Don Linville.
She is survived by three sons, Elbert Lee Patton, Jr. and wife Sharon, Gary Patton and wife Frances, and Ronnie
Patton and wife Nancy; grandchildren, Mark, Chuck and David Patton, Donna Cline, Mitzi Patton, Gigi Lemmon,
DeLyn Mattingly, Nancy Harkey, Rob and John Patton; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Charline Booth, one
brother Ray Linville; and her loving nieces and nephews and their families.
Funeral Services for Alda Madge Patton are scheduled for Saturday, March 6, 2004 at 10:00 A.M. in the Lowell-
Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Martha Cemetery under the
direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
