LILLY I. CHOCKLEY
BEAVER, Okla. -- Lilly Iris Chockley, 89, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, at Southwest Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 2, 1914, to Birl M. and Altha (Stroud) Painter in Scotland, Ark.
She married Fred Wallace Chockley May 9, 1942, in Stigler, Okla. He died June 26, 1989.
She graduated from high school and obtained her B.S. in education where she was a teacher.
She was a member of the Church of Christ.
She was a member of the NEA and OEA.
Survivors include two sons, Roger Chockley, Beaver, Okla., and Roy Chockley, Beaver, Okla.; one daughter, Otha Chockley McDaniel, Felt, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; 18 grandchildren; three bothers, Dorn Painter, Bakersfield, Calif., Deon Painter, Rogers, Ark., and Cled Painter, Athens, Texas; and many relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday in the Beaver Church of Christ with David Glascock presiding.
Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Clearlake, Okla.
EVA P. MOSER
BEAVER, Okla. -- Eva Pearl Moser, 79, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004, at Southwest Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 16, 1924, to William Robert and Eva May (Davis) Ward.
She married Wallace Gideon Moser, Jr., Dec. 9, 1944, in Terrell, Texas. He preceded her in death.
She graduated from Beaver High School in 1941.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church where she was also a secretary.
Survivors include two nephews, Alfred David Ward, Laverne, Okla., and Orval L. Ward, Clinton, Okla.; two nieces, Ava Herzer, Laverne, Okla., and Ila Ward, Perryton, Texas; and many relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Beaver Pioneer Cemetery with Bill Moore presiding.
Burial will be in Pioneer Cemetery.
ROBERT WILLBANKS, SR.
HUGO, Okla. -- Robert Willbanks, Sr., 77, died Sept. 4, 2004, at Choctaw Memorial Hospital in Hugo, Okla.
He was born Sept. 13, 1926, to John Lawson Willbanks and Nettie (Dunlap) Willbanks in South Haven.
He married Myrtle Griffin Nov. 29, 1948. She died April 6, 2002.
He was a retired truck driver and past foreman for District II in Choctaw County, Okla.
He was a World War II Army veteran.
He was a volunteer firefighter for the Grant (Okla.) Fire Department.
He was a member of the Methodist Faith.
Survivors include one daughter, Sheila Marie Cassidy, Grant, Okla.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, John Lawson Willbanks, Jr., Roswell, N.M.
He was also preceded in death by two sons, Robert Warren Willbanks, Jr., and Leno Lawson Willbanks, and one sister, Hazel Jean McBee.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday at Grant Cemetery with Brother Mutt Wallace presiding.
Burial will be in Grant Cemetery.
OPAL L. GREGORY
BEAVER, Okla. -- Opal Lena Gregory, 97, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004, at Morton County Care Center in Elkhart.
She was born Oct. 24, 1906, to Marion Thomas and Alice Ellen (McNeal) Smith in Howard.
She married Coy William Gregory Oct. 17, 1928 in Beaver, Okla. He died April 20, 1992.
She graduated from high school.
She was a member of the Methodist Church, Rebekah's and home demonstration clubs.
Survivors include one son, Billy D. Gregory, Elkhart; two daughters, Betty Alice Clifford, Vermillion, S.D., and Karen Sue Cook, Papillion, Neb.; 11 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Vivian Drauker, Apache Junction, Ariz., Mary Love, Eureka, Calif., Ruth Ross, Los Angeles; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday at Beaver United Methodist Church with Torrey Curtis presiding.
Burial will be in Pioneer Cemetery.
HOWARD D. BRIER
TYRONE, Okla. -- Howard D. Brier, 84, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, at his residence in Tyrone, Okla., following an extended illness.
He was born Aug. 10, 1920, to Edward H. and Clara E. Hammontree Brier in Liberal.
He married Bonnie Farmer Feb. 5, 1950, in Liberal. She died Dec. 23, 1977.
He attended Liberal schools.
He served for four years in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II.
He was employed by the Northern Gas Company for several years.
He was a jeweler and owner of Brier Jewelry for 37 years and retired in 1984.
He attended the Tyrone United Methodist Church.
He was a former member of the Elks Lodge No. 1947 in Liberal, and Moose Lodge and Masonic Lodge of Tyrone, Okla.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Wallace and husband Jack, Raytown, Mo., and Marilyn Williams, Cary, N.C.; six grandchildren, Kelly Snelling and husband Terry, Independence, Mo., Diedre Long and husband Jerry, Lynn James and husband Richard, Shelby Wilson and husband Rick, Sara Wallace and Liza Love; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Jo Hollingsworth, Liberal.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Herman and Charles Brier and a sister, Mary Byerley.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday at the Tyrone United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rick Trobaugh presiding.
Burial will be in the Tyrone Cemetery.
Friends may call from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m., Wednesday and from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m., Thursday at Miller Mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to the Tyrone United Methodist Church or to the donor's option in care of the mortuary.
GORDON J. JEFFRIES
TURPIN, Okla. -- Gordon John Jeffries, 74, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, at Southwest Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 16, 1930, to John and Lila Clauson Jeffries.
He married Jean Cook Oct. 16, 1954, in Dodge City. She survives.
He served his country during the Korean conflict in the U.S. Army.
He was a general contractor and carpenter.
He was a volunteer fireman in Tyrone, Okla., for many years.
He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Lane Day Post No. 3166 in Liberal.
Other survivors include one son, Myron Jeffries and wife Joyce, Naperville, Ill.; one daughter, Lorenda Jeffries, Elk City, Okla.; two grandsons, Dylan and Erick Jeffries; one brother, Harold Jeffries, Yamhill, Ore.; and one sister, LouElla Riley, Long Beach, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Friday at Miller Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Reed presiding.
Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m., Thursday at Miller Mortuary.
TERRY L. PIERSON, SR.
BEAVER, Okla. -- Terry Lynn Pierson, Sr., 50, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, in Houston.
He was born Oct. 18, 1953, to Elmer and Ava Faye (Colvin) Pierson.
He married Michelle R. Frye April 21, 1978, in Beaver, Okla. She survives.
He graduated from Beaver High School.
He was an electrician and plumber and was a supervisor.
Other survivors include his mother; one son, Terry Lynn Pierson, Jr., Katy, Texas; one daughter, Thea Drake, Sugar Land, Texas; one granddaughter; one brother, Jerry Pierson, Beaver, Okla.; and many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Graveside funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday at Pioneer Cemetery with Rick Main presiding.
Burial will be in Pioneer Cemetery.
