HERBERT R. LAWSON
BEAVER, Okla. -- Herbert Ronald "Ronnie" Lawson, 60, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, as the result of an auto accident 7 miles east of Turpin, Okla.
He was born April 28, 1942, to Herbert Noble and Gloria Carollea (Johnson) Lawson in Beaver.
He married Della Pearl Judd June 1, 1965.
He attended school in Beaver and graduated from Beaver High School. After high school, he attended the University of Oklahoma.
He then worked for the family business, Lawson Title Company. In 1976, he took over Lawson Title Company and started Ivanhoe Petroleum.
In 1989, he sold the title company and Ivanhoe Petroleum and relocated to Enid, Okla., where he worked for the Oklahoma State Department of Transportation as a right of way agent.
In 1993, he moved to Moore, Okla., and continued to work for the state until 1999, when he started to work for Smith Roberts Land Services.
At the time of his death, he lived in Oklahoma City.
Survivors include four daughters, Terri Long and husband, Tim, Denise Janko and husband, Chris, Shannon Caseltine and husband, Jeff, and Lee Ann Monty and husband, Tyler; 12 grandchildren, Ty Williams and wife, Kira, Chanci Peterson and husband, Nick, T.J. Maness, Jeremiah Janko, Tanner Long, Zachariah Monty, Sarah Caseltine, Alexis Janko, Joshua Monty and Michael Caseltine; one sister, Sherry Jenkins; mother-in-law, Mae Judd; and numerous other relatives.
Funeral services
were at 2 p.m. today at Christian Church in Beaver.
Burial will be at Pioneer Cemetery in Beaver.

JOHN EPP
TURPIN, Okla. -- John Epp, 93, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002, at Beaver County Nursing Home in Beaver, Okla.
He was born Jan. 13, 1909, to John Jacob and Anna (Boese) Epp in Beaver County, Okla.
He married Naomi Opal Eck March 12, 1944, in Goltry, Okla. She died March 11, 1998.
He was a lifetime resident of Beaver County.
He was a mechanic and blacksmith.
He was a member of South Church of God for more than 25 years.
Survivors include three sons, Aaron Epp and Ivan Epp, both of Turpin, and Rodney Epp, Lawrence; one sister, Anna Zinn, Liberal; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
He was also preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services
will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at South Church of God in Liberal with the Brother David Hellmig presiding.
Burial will be at Turpin Mennonite Cemetery in Turpin.

JASON J.A. SMITH
TURPIN, Okla. -- Jason J.A. Smith, 51, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002, at his home in Turpin.
He was born Aug. 16, 1951, to Glenn A. and Virginia L. Hood Smith in Wichita.
He married Brenda F. Johnson March 28, 1970, in Las Vegas. She survives.
He came to Liberal in 1985 and worked as a radio announcer for many years at local radio stations.
He attended Seward County Community College, received his nursing degree, and was a registered nurse at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He held the record for roller skating from Nampa, Nev., to Jackpot, Nev., 140 miles in 24 hours, skating for the Easter Seals.
He was a member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans.
His hobbies included cars and car racing.
Other survivors include four sons, Donavon Smith and wife, Jennifer, Tyrone, Okla., Glenn Smith, Turpin, Neil Smith and Dallas Smith, both of Lexington Park, M.D.; two grandsons, Zackary and Conner Smith, both of Tyrone; and two brothers, Howard Smith and Ralph Smith, both of Oklahoma City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Church of Christ, Grant and Tucker Road in Liberal, with the Preacher Ron Suiter presiding.
Inurnment will be at Tyrone Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Jason Smith Memorial Fund, Beaver City Bank, Turpin Branch, in care of Miller Mortuary, 908 N. Lincoln, Liberal, KS 67905.
EVELYN H. COLE
BEAVER, Okla. -- Evelyn Helen Cole, 57, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, at her home in Beaver.
She was born Oct. 2, 1945, to Orville and Dorothy Clinton in Armstrong.
She married Charlie Thomas Cole Oct. 30, 1969, in Missouri. He died in 1990.
She was a former resident of Mooreland, Okla.
Survivors include three daughters, Kimberly Cole, Yukon, Okla., Charlene Cole, Beaver, and Christina Riggs, Beaver; two brothers, Ronald Clinton, Ninety Six, S.C., and Donald Clinton, Emmetsburg, Iowa; four sisters, Ardis McConnaughy, Mallard, Iowa, Ione Howard, Boone, Iowa, Janet Howard, Emmetsburg, Iowa, and Noreen Biggs, Denver; five grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
Graveside funeral services were at 2 p.m. today at Mooreland Cemetery with Dennis Warren presiding.

ESTELLA R. SCHAAPVELD
HOOKER, Okla. -- Estella R. Schaapveld, 86, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
She was born March 12, 1916, to Hurley (Doc) and Oma (Mitchell) McKirahan in Hooker.
She married Adrian H. "Bud" Schaapveld Sept. 9, 1934, in Hooker. He died Nov. 13, 1993.
She attended school at Buffalo Rural School in Goodwell and Panhandle A&M college.
She taught for two years at Lemon Rural School and substituted in Hooker.
She was co-owner, with her husband, and bookkeeper for Schaapveld Oil Company since 1948.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hooker, the Alter Society and Bridge Club.
Her hobbies included growing roses in her yard and traveling and fishing with her husband. She and her husband traveled to Canada, Mexico and Alaska.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ann Honeman and husband, Jim, and Kathleen Mora, all of Salina; six grandchildren, Troy and Jennifer Honeman, Oklahoma City, Lori Honeman, Marble Falls, Texas, Holly and Ken Palmer, Gunnison, Colo., Jeffrey Dixon, Kansas, Todd Dixon, Colorado, and Dora Mora, Kansas; eight great-grandchildren, Tyler Honeman, Hadle Brown, Austin Wares, Morgan and Madison Martens, Joshua and Jessica Palmer and Colby Honeman.
Funeral mass was at 2 p.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hooker.
Burial will be at Hooker Cemetery in Hooker.

ALLAN FISCHER
HOOKER, Okla. -- Allan Fischer, 66, Hooker, died Tuesday, April 30, 2002, from injuries sustained in an airplane accident.
Funeral services
will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Hooker.
Burial will be at Hooker Cemetery in Hooker.

JESSE D. SCOGGINS
HOOKER, Okla. -- Jesse Denver Scoggins, 86, Hooker, died Monday, April 29, 2002, at Memorial Hospital of Texas County in Guymon, Okla.
He was born May 6, 1915, to Marvel Benson and Laura Bell (Berry) Scoggins in Hooker.
He married Mary Louise Mitchell June 29, 1940. She died Nov. 12, 1955.
He married Sarah Ann McBee July 7, 1961. She died Sept. 29, 1995.
He attended the Phoenix Community School east of Hooker and helped his father and local farmers during his youth.
He owned and operated the Hooker Feed Store, which he sold after his wife's death. In 1959, he became Texas County Deputy Sheriff. He retired in 1982.
He and his wife, Sarah, opened the 54 Diner in 1961. They owned the restaurant for seven years.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hooker.
He was also a member of the Oklahoma Chiefs of Police Association and served as councilman for the City of Hooker.
Survivors include three sons, J.D. Scoggins and wife, Carol, North Platte, Neb., Leon Scoggins and wife, Fonda, Aurora, Colo., and Eddy Scoggins and wife, Marilyn, Hooker; four step-children, Sally Hoeme and husband, Larry, Frisco, Texas, Robert McBee and wife, Debbie, Alvarado, Texas, Rena McBee, Hooker, and Fred McBee, Felt, Okla.; one sister, Bernice Dickson, Mesa, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren, Kayla States, Devon Scoggins, Holly Moore, Kelsey Scoggins, Trevor Scoggins, Cindy Blehm, Jeff Blehm, Garna Elston, Ginger Kennell, Stacy Berlin, Lori Ferguson, Licia Stamm, Chris Ford, Shauney Martinez and Kevin McBee; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services
will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Hooker with his son, Eddy Scoggins, presiding.
Burial will be at Hooker Cemetery in Hooker.
