MAX B. VERHELST
FORGAN, Okla. -- Max Bishop Verhelst, 67, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at his home in Forgan.
He was born March 6, 1934, to Harry H. and Clara (Barrow) Verhelst in Huntoon, Texas.
He married Celia Stewart Dec. 24, 1963, in Forgan. She survives.
He was a lifelong resident of Beaver County, Okla. He was a retired truck driver.
Other survivors include four sons, Marion Johnson and Jerry Verhelst, both of Austin, Texas, and Billy M. Johnson and Jack Johnson, both of Forgan; two daughters, Darla Cook, Selah, Wash., and Kathy Tisdale, Kingfisher, Okla.; two brothers, Don Hedgpeth, Perryton, Texas, and Gene Hedgpeth, Central Point, Ore.; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
Funeral services
will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Forgan United Methodist Church with David Mercer presiding.
Burial will be at the Forgan Cemetery in Forgan under the direction of Clark Funeral Service in Beaver, Okla.
CLEO ROSE JASPER
BEAVER, Okla. -- Cleo Rose Jasper, 81, died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at the Beaver County Nursing Home in Beaver.
She was born Aug. 14, 1919, to Samuel and Cora Belle (Roland) Barker in Craig, Mo.
She married Sidney Jasper May 15, 1941, in Panhandle, Texas. He survives.
She and her husband have been residents of Beaver since 1963.
She was a retail sales clerk in a dress shop and a homemaker.
She had been a member of the Baptist Church for 48 years.
Other survivors include one son, Butch Jasper, Amarillo, Texas; one daughter, Linda Jasper, Oklahoma City; two sisters, Odra Christopher, Wheeler, Texas, and Fern Propst, Houston, Texas; two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services
will be at 2:30 p.m. at the Beaver First Baptist Church, with Dr. Don Rogers presiding.
Burial will follow at the Pioneer Cemetery in Beaver, under the direction of Clark Funeral Service in Beaver.
MILDRED L. SEALEY
WOODWARD, Okla. -- Mildred Leila Sealey, 87, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at Woodward Hospital and Health Center.
She was born Nov. 25, 1913, to Thomas A. and Cora Allen in Cofax County, New Mexico Territory.
She married John Edward Sealey Sept. 16, 1933 in Liberal. He died Sept. 3, 1969.
She graduated from Liberal High School in 1932.
She had lived in the Liberal area for 50 years following her marriage. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Liberal. She was a 4-H leader and teacher, Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader and a member of the PTA of McDermott School.
She was also a member of the Grange and Rebeccas.
After her husband's death, she was employed by the Seward County Registrar of Deeds office in Liberal.
She moved to Woodward in 1987. She joined the United Methodist Church in Mooreland, Okla., and the Work and Play Extension Homemaker's Club.
Survivors include two sons, Joe Sealey and wife, Teresa, Liberal, and Mike Sealey and wife, Shirley, Evanston, Wyo.; two daughters, Mona McCoy and Mary Ann Greenway and husband, Sam, all of Woodward; 10 grandchildren, Sherry Gill and husband, Dave, Lawrence, Allen McCoy and wife, Joyce, Overland Park; Guy McCoy, Seattle, Catherine McCoy, Olympia, Wash., Kelly McNeil and husband, Brian, Bozeman, Mont., Cindy Stark, Houston, Texas, Jeffrey Sealey and wife, Jamee, Burns Flats, Okla., Brian Sealey and wife, Misty, Wichita, Mikel Shane Sealey, Decatur, Ill., and Tai Nicole Sealey, Liberal; seven great-grandchildren, Kellyn Young, Caleb McCoy, Hannah McCoy, Katie Allen, Riley McNeil, Tiarra Sealey, Sydney Sealey and Abigail Sealey; one step-granddaughter, Janice Priddy; two step-grandchildren, Bill and Steve Greenway; seven step-great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Leona Anderson, Sedan; one nephew; and three nieces.
Funeral services
will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Good Samaritan Chapel in Woodward.
Burial will follow at Liberal Memorial Gardens in Liberal under the direction of the Good Samaritan Funeral Service in Woodward.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church in Mooreland in care of Good Samaritan Funeral Service, P.O. Box 1247, Woodward, OK 73802.
RUTH E. LAW
BALKO, Okla. -- Ruth Eugene "Jean" Law, 80, died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, Texas.
She was born April 28, 1920, in Lark, N.D.
She married Vernie Law Oct. 28, 1941, in Beaver County, Okla. He died Sept. 25, 1998.
She had been a lifelong resident of Beaver County.
She was a member of the Balko Apostolic Faith Church for 60 years.
Survivors include two sons, Herman Law, Pampa, Texas, and James Law, Balko; one daughter, Twanda Jane Miller, Scottsdale, Ariz.; three grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
Funeral services
will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Balko Apostolic Faith Church in Balko with Edwin Waterbury presiding.
Burial will be at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Balko under the direction of Clark Funeral Service in Beaver, Okla.
JOHN E. SUMMERS
BEAVER, Okla. -- John Eugene "Gene" Summers, 75, died Monday, March 12, 2001, at his home in Beaver.
He was born May 12, 1925, to John Lytle and Mary Ethel (Emery) Summers in Watonga, Okla.
He married Roberta Abbott June 11, 1949, in Tulsa, Okla. She died March 5, 1999.
He had been a resident of Beaver since 1968. He was a printer for the Herald Democrat in Beaver.
Survivors include one brother, Willis Summers, Sarcoxie, Mo.; two sisters, Iona Norris, Hugo, Okla., and Leona Payne, Enid, Okla.; special friend, Gertrude Todd, Beaver; and numerous other relatives.
Funeral services
will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Church of the Nazarene in Beaver with Bill Moore presiding.
Burial will be at Pioneer Cemetery in Beaver under the direction of Clark Funeral Service in Beaver.
PERNA V. PIPKIN
FORGAN, Okla. -- Perna Vesta Pipkin, 90, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
She was born Sept. 25, 1910, in Arkadelphia, Ark.
She married Louie Randal Pipkin Jan. 22, 1951, in Clark County, Ark. He survives.
She was a homemaker.
She had been a resident of Liberal for the past 50 years.
Other survivors include one son, Randy Pipkin of Liberal; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Graveside services
will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Forgan Cemetery in Forgan under the direction of Clark Funeral Service in Beaver, Okla.
SHEILA CAIN
TYRONE, Okla. -- Sheila Cain, 45, of Tyrone, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, in Oklahoma City.
She was born Dec. 8, 1955, to Kenneth G. and Janice L. (Southern) Price in Pratt.
She attended and graduated from Tyrone High School in 1973.
She married Gene A. Cain Dec. 23, 1973, in Tyrone. He survives.
She assisted her husband in farming. She became a Mary Kay Consultant in 1982 and went on to become a Mary Kay Senior Sales Director in 1987. She won several cars during her tenure with Mary Kay, and had more than 30 consultants in her unit.
She was a member of the Tyrone Baptist Church in Tyrone.
She was very active with her family and never missed a sporting event of her children.
Other survivors include two sons, Heath and Harlan Cain, Tyrone; one daughter, Heather Cain and her fiancee, Chad Hoover, both of Beaver, Okla.; three brothers, Ryan Price and wife, Zi, Osage, Mo., Kelly Price and wife, Marie, Laverne, Okla., and Koby Price and wife, Sheila, Earlsville, Ill.; two sisters, Kenda Ketron and companion, Glenn Miller, Gate, Okla., and Jana King, and Terry King, Eldon, Mo.; her father-in-law, Glenn Cain, Tyrone.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
Funeral services
will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Tyrone Baptist Church in Tyrone, with Brother Eddy Scoggins presiding.
The casket will not be open at the church.
Burial will follow at the Tyrone Cemetery in Tyrone.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Mortuary.
The family suggests that memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society in care of Miller Mortuary, 908 N. Lincoln Avenue, Liberal, KS 67905.
LOUISE FRANKLIN
GUYMON, Okla. -- Louise Franklin, 81, longtime Guymon resident, died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001, at the Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal.

are pending and will be announced by the Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home in Guymon.
