FREDA L. THOMAS
BEAVER, Okla. -- Freda L. Thomas, 73, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, at the Beaver County Memorial Hospital in Beaver.
She was born Oct. 13, 1927, to Richard and Ella (Mohler) Vanderpool in Meade County.
She married Preston Lee Thomas Feb. 12, 1947, in Perryton, Texas. He survives.
She attended Forgan, Okla. schools.
She was a nurse until her retirement.
Other survivors include two sons, Estel Thomas, South Sioux City, Neb., and Mickey Thomas, Meade; one daughter, Verna Clenney, Guymon, Okla.; one brother, J.W. Vanderpool, Meade; one sister, Mary Lou Carrington, Henderson, Texas; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services
will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Beaver with Lynn Spencer and Brian Loreg presiding.
Burial will be at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Balko, Okla.
The family requests memorials to the First Church of the Nazarene, P.O. Box 368, Beaver, OK 73932.
Clark Funeral Service in Beaver is in charge of arrangements.
EMMA KRAFT
GUYMON, Okla. -- Emma Kraft, 84, of Hooker, Okla., died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at Memorial Hospital of Texas County in Guymon.
She was born Jan. 8, 1916, to David and Katherine (Schmunk) Dorsch in Ramona.
In 1929, the family homesteaded between Hooker and Optima, Okla. She attended Buffalo school and later graduated from Optima High School in Optima.
She married Reuben Kraft April 15, 1951, in Clayton, N.M. He died Jan. 4, 1996.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hooker, Ladies Aid and Alanon. She was also an officer at the Hooker Senior Citizens Center for many years.
Survivors include one sister, Bertha Sturtz, Darrouzett, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Seltha Dorsch, Winfield, and Leona Dorsch, Muskogee, Okla., and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers, John, Jacob, Dave, Henry, Samuel, Daniel and Alexander Dorsch and one infant sister, Lydia Dorsch.
Funeral services
will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hooker with the Revs. Chris Boehnke, Mark Westcoatt and Timothy Dorsch presiding.
Burial will be at the Hooker Cemetery in Hooker.
Memorials are suggested to the St. John's Lutheran Church or the Hooker Cemetery Fund, in care of Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, OK 73945.
ROBERT "BOB" HALL
TYRONE, Okla. -- Robert "Bob" Hall, 82, of Tyrone, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, as a result of an automobile accident.
He was born Oct. 11, 1918, to Henry Earl and Audrey Ida (Osborn) Hall in Hobbs, N.M.
He married Jacqueline Kalber Sept. 14, 1944, in Cheyenne, Wyo. She died Jan. 17, 1978.
He graduated from Hobbs High School in Hobbs in 1931.
He was a longtime resident of Tyrone and was a retired manager of Equity Service Center.
He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.
Survivors include one son, Robert Hall Jr., Council Bluffs, Iowa; two daughters, Lynda Jean Hall and Margaret Hall, both of Springs, Texas; two brothers, Vernon Hall, Tyrone, and Henry Hall, Eugene, Ore.; four grandchildren, Sonya Walker, Gerald Hall, Robert H. Hall and William E. Hall; three great-grandchildren and his companion, Marlyn Craig, Liberal.
Funeral services
will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kitch Funeral Home Chapel in Liberal with the Rev. Jerry Odle presiding.
Burial will be at Restlawn Cemetery in Liberal with military honors given by Ft. Riley Honor Guard.
Calling time will be until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. today at Kitch Funeral Home in Liberal.
KEVIN W. STEVENS
HOOKER, Okla. -- Kevin Wayne Stevens, 20, Tyrone, Okla., died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000, in Hooker.
He was born June 8, 1980, to Lloyd and Jackie (Cooper) Stevens in Liberal.
He attended Tyrone schools and graduated from Tyrone High School in 1998. He attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Okla.
He was employed at National Beef in Liberal.
His hobbies included playing the guitar with a band.
He attended the Tyrone Church of Christ.
Survivors include his parents of Tyrone; one brother, Robby Stevens, Tyrone; his grandparents, Elese Adams and husband, Clyde, Guymon, Okla., and John and Glennetta Cooper, Tyrone; his paternal great-grandmother, Mable Lawrence, Tyrone; and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Funeral services
were at 2:30 p.m. today with Richard W. Dent presiding.
Burial was at the Tyrone Cemetery in Tyrone.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker.
KEVIN W. STEVENS
HOOKER, Okla. -- Kevin Wayne Stevens, 20, Tyrone, Okla., died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000 in Hooker.
Funeral services
will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Tyrone Church of Christ in Tyrone with Richard W. Dent presiding.
Burial will be at the Tyrone Cemetery in Tyrone under the direction of Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker.
MURIEL E. DUNN
HOOKER, Okla. Muriel Elizabeth (Krieger) Dunn, 88, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, at Memorial Hospital of Texas County in Guymon, Okla.
She was born Nov. 11, 1911, to Bert and Lena Maude (Arters) Krieger near Hooker, Okla.
She was a life-long resident of Hooker with the exception of the last few years when she made her home at Dunaway Manor in Guymon, Okla.
She married Alva R. Dunn July 16, 1926, in Liberal. He died Jan. 14, 1963.
She was a homemaker.
Her hobbies and activities included making handmade arts and crafts and visiting with her extended family.
Survivors include one son, Tom Dunn and wife, Charlotte, Hooker; three daughters, Margaret Dunn and Nettie Bridges, both of Parsons, and Bessie Scott, Hooker; her adopted children, John Maynard and wife, Ruby, Hooker; one brother, Orie Krieger and wife, Loretta, Turpin, Okla.; 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Loretta Dunn and Betty Bledsoe; one sister, Hazel Hamby; four brothers, Roy, George, Mike and Charles Krieger; one granddaughter, Brenda Jean Bledsoe; and one great-granddaughter, Krista Bridges.
Graveside services
will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Hooker Cemetery in Hooker, with John Maynard presiding.
Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker is in charge of arrangements.
VIRGINIA BULLER
TURPIN, Okla. -- Virginia Buller, 53, of Turpin, died Friday, Sept. 29, 2000, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
She was born May 3, 1947, to E.W. and Florence (VanHorn) Smith in Emporia.
She married Ervin R. Buller July 31, 1971, in Emporia. He survives.
She graduated from Emporia High School in 1965.
She earned a degree in Foreign Languages from Emporia State University and later she received her master's degree in special education from Kansas State University.
She did her student teaching at Northeast High School in Wichita.
She taught French at Newton High School in Newton for two years.
She taught English, Spanish and French at Turpin High School for 28 years, from 1971 to 1999, where she was also involved in Quiz Bowl, the SMART Program and was cheerleading sponsor.
She was teaching Spanish and French at Liberal High School in Liberal until her death.
She was a member of the Calvary Mennonite Church in Liberal where she served as treasurer and youth group sponsor and was involved in Vacation Bible School. She also serving as song leader.
She was a member of OEA, NEA and KNEA, Chi Omega and Delta Kappa Gamma and CARS Southwest.
Other survivors include her parents; one son, Ryan Buller and wife, Kim, Stillwater, Okla.; two daughters, Suzanne Buller, Stillwater and Melissa Buller, of the home; one brother, Van Smith and wife, Jane, Garden City and her mother-in-law, Rubeinna Buller, Turpin.
Funeral services
will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Turpin High School Gymnasium with Ryan Buller and the Revs. Stanley Lehnert and Every Unruh presiding. It will be a closed-casket funeral service.
Burial will be at the Turpin Mennonite Cemetery in Turpin.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. -- 11 a.m. Tuesday at Miller Mortuary in Liberal.
