WILBUR E. "JOHNNY" IMLER
TYRONE, Okla. -- Wilbur E. "Johnny" Imler, 67, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000 at the Southwest Medical Center, Liberal.
He was born July 31, 1932 to Ernest F. and Pearl Corene (Howell) Imler in Hough, near Texas County, Okla.
He married Janet L. Sheldon Nov. 25, 1975 in Perryton, Texas. She survives.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Army and later the U.S. Air Force, till his retirement in 1958.
He moved to Boise City, Okla. where he worked in in the steam laundry business and farmed. He later became a custom ensillage cutter. He taught at Panhandle State University, Goodwell, Okla. in the agriculture department. He was a self-employed mechanic until he retired in 1991.
Other survivors include one son, Donald L. Imler, Liberal; three daughters, Terri Weaver and husband Jimmy, Boise City, Okla., Keri Harris and husband Bob, Cori Rodriguez and husband Ray, all of Panhandle, Texas; three step-sons, Charles B. Sheldon and wife Julie, Seguin, Texas, Douglas Sheldon, Tyrone, Okla., David Sheldon and wife Cindy, Liberal; one step-daughter, Lavenda Bruhn and husband Gordon, Liberal; one brother, Roy "Corky" Imler, Boise City, Okla.; five sisters, Marjorie Rector, Amarillo, Texas, Glenna Rea Durr, Dike, Texas, Carol Sue Harper, Boise City, Okla.; Helen Ussery, Llano, Texas, Joyce Finger, Horton; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, one brother, and one son.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at the Miller Chapel with Rev. Carl Hein presiding. Cremation will follow the funeral services.
Friends may call at the Miller Mortuary from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. until service time Saturday.
GERTRUDE B. BROWN
TURPIN, Okla. -- Gertrude B. Brown, 91, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2000, at St. Francis Via Cristi Hospital, Wichita.
She was born Feb. 10, 1908 at Montevalle, Mo., to Joe and Bessie (Stewart) Hall.
She married Lloyd G. Brown Nov. 1, 1927, in Beaver, Okla. He died Feb. 18, 1973.
She came to Turpinwith her parents in 1916 and lived on a ranch with her husband in Anthony before moving back to
Turpin in 1965. She was very active in the community and in church and she was a devoted mother.
She was a member of the Turpin United Methodist Church, OES, Anthony Home Demonstration Unit, and the Turpin Senior Citizens Center.
Survivors include one daughter, Lova Jo Barnes, Gage, Okla.; four grandsons, Monte Barnes, Gage, John Barnes, Tulsa, Okla; Rick Brown and Jim Brown of Turpin; 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter,
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five brothers, two sisters, one son, Barr Brown, and one grandson, Danny Brown.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Turpin United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Dan Frizbee and Stanley Lehnert presiding.
Burial will be at the Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Liberal.
Friends may call at Miller Mortuary from 1-8 p.m. Sunday and from 8-10 a.m. Monday.

OPAL MAE GORDON
HOOKER, Okla. -- Opal Mae Gordon, 75, Hooker, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, at Memorial Hospital of Texas County in Guymon, Okla.
She was born Jan. 12, 1925, to William and Clara (Brown) Acker in Hooker.
She grew up in Hooker and attended school there.
She married Dradon Gordon Feb. 20, 1941, in Liberal. He survives, They lived for seven years in Perryton, Texas, but made Hooker their home for most of their married life .
Her hobbies included crocheting, embroidering and sewing doll clothes for her grandchildren. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Hooker.
Other survivors include a son, Jimmy Gordon and wife, Doris, Canute, Okla.; a daughter, Veda Raff, Hooker; one brother, Lloyd and Delores Acker, Olathe; one sister, Rosie Raff, Hooker; four grandchildren, Cindy, Tim, Rhoda and Jimmy II; seven great-grandchildren, Josh, Sam, Daniel, Colbert, Lacie, Cristi and Cinnamon.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Church of Christ in Hooker, with Neville Buchanan and John Maynard presiding.
Burial will be at Hooker Cemetery with Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Hooker, in charge of services.
JIMMY RAY BOSTICK
GUYMON, Okla. -- Jimmy Ray Bostick, 65, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, at the Baptist St. Anthony Hospice in Amarillo, Texas.
He was born, July 12, 1934, to Jimmy Coleman and Mona Jewell (Harris) Bostick in Wanette, Okla.
He married Judith Arlene Combs, Sept. 2, 1989, in Rawlins, Wyo. She survives.
He graduated from Hart High School in Hart, Texas. He moved to Guymon in 1972 from Texhoma, Okla.
He farmed and was employed in the parts department and as an irrigation engine mechanic with Nash Brothers Implement. He worked with them for several years before opening his own business, J & G Engines in Guymon. He retired in 1994.
Other survivors include one daughter, Darla Kay and husband, Tommy Davis, Borger, Texas; five step-children, Conya Rupp, Purdy, Mo., Kevin Jones, Debra Schuette, and Kif Sides, all of Guymon, and Kenny Sides, Amarillo, Texas; two brothers, Howard Bostick and wife, Millie, Lubbock, Texas, and Darrell Bostick and wife, Ruth, Broken Bow, Okla.; three step-sisters, Rosale Griffith and husband, Kenneth, Liberal, Janet Taylor, Oklahoma City, and Beverly Bostick, Seminole, Okla.; special aunt Mae Bostick, Macomb, Okla.; and nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and special uncle, Dave Bostick.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Guymon, with the Rev. Mike Wiechmann presiding.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Tribbey Cemetery in Tribbey, Okla. Services are under the direction of Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home in Guymon.
GENEVIEVE HOPE McELWAIN
PONCA CITY, Okla. -- Genevieve Hope McElwain, 94, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at Shawn Manor Nursing Home in Ponca City.
She was born Oct. 5, 1905, to Alonzo Burton and Carra Gertrude (Hamma) Giggy in Burrton.
She was a Burrton area resident for 55 years. She then moved to Newton until 1995, when she moved to Ponca City.
She worked as a clerk for the Harvey County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service office.
She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Newton, National Secretaries Association, Daughters of the American Revolution, Friendship Circle of Burrton, and NARFE.
She married Fearl C. McElwain June 24, 1925, at McPherson. He died in 1954.
Survivors include one son, David McElwain, Liberal; one daughter, Ann Vap, Ponca City; two brothers, Karl "Pete" Giggy, Houston, Texas, and Gordon Giggy, Woodstock, Calif.; two sisters, Elizabeth Armstrong, Derby, and Jean Shaft, Burrton, 10 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two sons, Robert and Cecil McElwain; two brothers, Keith and Kenneth Giggy; two sisters, Bernice Ragland and Wilda Dunn.
Funeral services were Thursday at the First United Methodist Church, Halstead; the Rev. James Mardock presiding. Burial was at the Halstead Cemetery.

GROVE, Okla. -- Robert W. Thomas, 90, formerly of Hooker, Okla., died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at Grove General Hospital in Grove, Okla.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church, Hooker, with the Rev. Kim Alan Domnick officiating.
Burial will be at the Hooker Cemetery in Hooker, Okla.
Roberts Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
KENNETH W. TURNER
TYRONE, Okla. -- Kenneth W. Turner, 65, died Tuesday, Feb. 2000, at the Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Church of Christ in Hooker, Okla., with Rev. Neville Buchanan presiding.
Burial will follow at the Tyrone Cemetery in Tyrone, Okla., with Roberts Brothers Funeral Home Hooker, Okla., in charge of arrangements.
CARROLL E. RUSSELL
HOOKER, Okla. -- Carroll E. Russell, 66, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at his home in Hooker.
He was born July 1, 1933, to Roy Edward and Mary Elizabeth (Carroll) Russell in Cheyenne Wells, Colo. The family moved to the Hooker area in the spring of 1937.
He married Mona Burchett June 30, 1957, at the Methodist Church in Seiling, Okla. She survives.
He attended his first three years of school at the Dague country school. He started fourth grade at Hooker and graduated with the Class of 1952.
He was a farmer. He had served on several agricultural committees, at both the county and local levels. He was a member of the Hooker First Baptist Church.
Other survivors include two sons, Rodney Russell and wife, Susan, and Travis Russell and wife, Melissa, all of Hooker; one sister, Lenora and husband, C.J. Mouser, Hooker; mother-in-law, Elda Burchett, Seiling; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Lowell and Lois Burchett, Manhattan, Kan., Lane Burchett, Weatherford, Okla., Lindy and Jan Burchett, Oklahoma City, Nancy Farrier, Stillwell, Okla., Karen and Jack Henline, Granbury, Texas, Bethel and Marlin Classen, Dodge City, and Kate and Paul Paluguy, Seattle, Wash.; and five grandchildren, Erin Brody, James Weston, Leslie DeNeane, Isabella Mary and Olivia Grace Russell.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant daughters.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hooker First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ron Mimms and Eddie Scoggins presiding.
Burial will be at the Hooker Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker.
Visitation will be Thursday at Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home in Guymon, and Friday at Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker.

EDWARD G. HONEMAN
HOOKER, Okla. -- Edward G. Honeman, 85, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was born April 20, 1914, to George and Anna (Sittner) Honeman in Iuka. The family moved in 1916 from Iuka to a farm four miles southwest of Hooker.
He married Velda Berneice Chappelle June 30, 1934, in Guymon, Okla. She survives.
He attended Buffalo country school.
He and his wife farmed together, and for five years he worked for Natural Gas Pipeline. They moved into Hooker in October 1959. For 12 years, he was a custom harvester in Oklahoma, Colorado and Nebraska. He retired in 1980.
He was a 50-year member of the First Christian Church in Hooker, where he served as a deacon. He cut out a replica of the church which was placed on the current church sign.
He was a member of the Hooker Lions Club. His hobbies included traveling with his wife. They saw much of the United States in their motor home.
Other survivors include two sons, Larry Honeman and wife, LaVonne, and Jim Honeman and wife, Mary Ann, all of Hooker; four grandchildren, Troy Honeman, Lori Wares, Mark and Spencer Honeman; eight great-grandchildren, William, Haley, Morgan, Madison, Tyler, Austin, Amber and Mikey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Estal, in 1955; a grandson, Michael; three brothers, August, Walter and Louis; and two sisters, Minne and Dora.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Christian Church in Hooker, with the Rev. Irvin Stanke presiding.
Burial will follow at the Hooker Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker.
