Jewell L. Titsworth
Former longtime Shawnee resident Jewell L. Titsworth, 89, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, in Topeka, Kan.
She was born Sept. 4, 1915, in the Vanzant community.
She moved to Garden Grove Community as a child and graduated from Okfuskee County High School in 1932.
Titsworth was a longtime employee of Brown Furniture Co. in Shawnee.
In 1951, she married Clifton Titsworth. He preceded her in death Sept. 16, 1985.
Titsworth was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and had been active in Altar Society, Sponsa Regis Study Club, Golden Hearts and St. Vincent DePaul Social Services.
Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Carl and Bethe Titsworth of Topeka, Kan., and Tony Titsworth of Lawrenceville, Ga.; four grandchildren, Patrick and wife Shonda of Topeka, Kan., Rachel of Topeka, Kan., Jeff and wife Sherrie of Murphy, Texas, and Shelley of Coppel, Texas; three great-grandchildren; ands several nieces and nephews.
Service will be noon Monday at St. Benedict Catholic Church with the Rev. Maurus P. Jaeb, O.S.B., officiating. Burial will follow at Prague Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Fred Bertram
Fred Bertram, 82, of Shawnee died Saturday, Feb. 26, at a local hospital.
Service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Walker Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Lewis Walters officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Further arrangements will be announced by Walker Funeral Service.
Jo Carol Hurst
Maud resident Jo Carol Hurst passed from this life at the age of 66 at her home on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008.
She was born Feb. 24, 1941, in Maud to Joe and Ona Bell Harding.
Jo Carol married Bob Hurst on May 27, 1958, in Maud, Okla.
She retired from the Department of Public Safety in Oklahoma City on Dec. 31, 2001.
She is preceded in death by her parents; one sister. June Chaffin and father-in-law, J.C. Hurst.
Jo Carol is survived by her husband, Bob Hurst, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Neal and Beverly Hurst of Eufaula; and daughter Robyn Hurst of Maud. She is also survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Lynelle Harding of Greeley, Colo.; mother-in-law, Jimmie Hurst of Seminole; grandchildren, Jr. and his wife Lisa Hurst of Eufaula, Shelby and Skylynn Hurst of Maud, and Brittany and Holli Hurst of Eufaula; two great-grandchildren, Robert and Tyler Hurst of Eufaula; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends and nurse Jennifer Lofton.
Viewing will be 9 a.m. until 8 p.m., today and Wednesday and until service time on Thursday.
Graveside services
for lifelong Maud resident Jo Carol Hurst are scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday at Cummings Cemetery in Maud with the Rev. Wayne Taylor officiating.
Services are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home in Maud, Oklahoma.
James Leon Boswell
Shawnee resident James "Jim" Leon Boswell died Sunday, Feb. 24, in Shawnee at the age of 79.
Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marvin Hudson officiating.

Former Konawa resident LaDina Michelle Tiger Larney died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008, at her residence in Shawnee at the age of 31.
Wake service will be held 7 p.m. today at Bird Creek Baptist Church in Sasakwa.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bird Creek Baptist Church in Sasakwa with Pastor Kenneth Copper officiating. Burial will follow at Cully Harjo Cemetery in Vamoosa.
Service is under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.

Former Wyandotte resident Pharabe Tipton, 81, died Saturday, Feb. 24, in Conroe, Texas.

Meeker resident John Daniel Flowers, 89, died Saturday, Feb. 24, in Shawnee.

Meeker resident Lucille E. Jones, 97, died Saturday, Feb. 24, in Meeker.

Brooklynn Nicole Gray
Brooklynn Nicole Gray, infant daughter of Dustin Shawn Gray and Ashley Nicole Reynolds of Meeker died, Thursday, Feb. 22, at an Oklahoma City Hospital.
She was born Nov. 28, 2006 to Dustin Shawn Gray and Ashley Nicole Reynolds in Shawnee.
She was preceded in death by a special Pawpaw; several other great great grandparents and family members.
Survivors include parents, Dustin and Ashley of Meeker; grandparents, Lynn and Donnie Ledbetter of Meeker, Lisa Gray of Tecumseh, Glen Gray of Shawnee; aunts and uncles, Derek Ledbetter of Meeker, Lexie Ledbetter of Meeker, Christa and Shane Belvin of McLoud, Mike and Jamie Gray of Tecumseh; and several cousins, great and great great-grandparents.
Service will be noon Monday at the Walker Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Clint Dawkins and the Rev. Travis Hurst officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Longtime Seminole resident Ozie William Reed, 89, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, at a Seminole nursing center.
Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Cecil Spoonmoore officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.
LeRoy Edgell
Longtime Seminole resident LeRoy Edgell died Thursday, Feb. 24, in a Seminole nursing home. He was 67 years old.
Service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Gary Pollard and the Rev. Dr. Jack Medlock officiating. Burial will be in Little Cemetery.

Bowlegs resident Jackie Deniese Veach, 38, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, at her home.

Harrah resident William R. "Bill" Cato died Thursday, Feb. 24, in Vian at the age of 85.
Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel, Harrah, with the Rev. Dr. Dan Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery, Harrah.

Georgia Faye Reed-Lawson
Shawnee resident Georgia Faye Reed-Lawson died Monday, Feb. 21, in Shawnee at the age of 93,
She was born Oct. 11, 1911, in Weleeka to Dave and Almeda Reed.
She moved to Shawnee then later married Elwood Lawson. She was a homemaker and a caregiver.
She was a longtime member of Nelson Chapel C.M.E. Church near Bell and Dunbar street in Shawnee. She served as chairman of the Stewardess Board and was a life-long member of the Missionary Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters, Charlesetta Lawson and Etta Faye Lawson; a son, Curtis Wayne Lawson.
Survivors include numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
Service will be 11 a.m. today at Nelson Chapel C.M.E. Church with the Rev. R.C. Laskey and the Rev. Roger L. Harris Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Gaskill Funeral Chapel of Shawnee.
