SMITH Mary Genvieve Smith, age 96, of Lancaster, died Wednesday, April 25, 2001 at LanFair Center. She was a charter member of the First Christian Church, Lancaster; a member of the Mt. Kreider Chapter #145 Order of the Eastern Star; and a caregiver. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Jason Outland, Indiana, Carol Ward, Lancaster, Donna and Frank Fisher, Lancaster; sons, Ronnie Calton, Lancaster, Richard Calton, Columbus; 21 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Welch, Lancaster and Grace Fausnaugh, Tallahassee, Fla.; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband William E. Smith; son Leland Calton; parents Riley and Elizabeth Kirby; sister Roberta Tuttle; and grandchildren Eric Outland and Peggy E. Fisher. Funeral Service will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the First Christian Church, 350 Park St., Lancaster, with Rev. Steve Seevers and Rev. David Kerns officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Friday at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Lancaster and Saturday 1 hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church in Mary's memory.
SMITH Nadji Mariea Smith, was welcomed home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 23, 2001 after a long illness. Nadji is preceded in death by her loving parents Charles and Lois Smith. Survived by husband, Sylvester Redd; son and daughter-in-law, Donivan and Michelle Stone; brothers, Chauncy (Ann), Vance (Dawn), Charles (Martha) and Cochise (Kathy); beloved sister-in-law, Carol Smith; grandchildren, Tyra and Trey; special friend, Sharon Saunders; and a host of nieces and nephews. SPECHT Thomas P. Specht, 49, passed away April 21, 2001 at his home in Salem, Oregon. He was a Computer Specialist for U.S.D.A. Tom was preceded in death by parents Grace and Howard Specht. He is survived by a son, Sasha; sister, Judy Whalen; niece, Amanda Whalen; nephews, Mike (Gina) Whalen and Josh Whalen; fiancee, Cindy Jones; aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nieces and nephews. There will be a Memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 28 at St. Matthias Church, 1582 Ferris Rd. There will be no funeral procession after the Mass.

STEVENS Robert E. Stevens, 71, passed away on April 23, 2001 at Grant Hospital. Bob was born in Ashland, Ky. but lived most of his life in Columbus, Oh. He was preceded in death by his mother Edna Stevens. Survived by his loving sister, Beulah Russell; brother, Jack Stevens; 5 sons, Don, Ron, Craig, Jason and Robert Jr.; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren. TESTER Carol Lee Tester, of Lancaster, Oh., died Saturday, April 21, 2001 after a short illness. She was raised in Lancaster. Attended Cedar Heights Grade School, Lancaster High School, Class of 1959 and Ohio University. She had moved to Columbus after her marriage but returned to Lancaster about 8 years ago. She was employed at ODOT, Columbus as a Railroad Realty Specialist. She loved square dancing and was a member of Bucks and Does Group and Olivedale Senior Citizens Center. Survived by daughters, Kathleen Henson of Lancaster, Oh. and Annette "Muffin" Jones of Columbus, Oh.; son, George "JR" Tester of Indianapolis, Ind.; grandchildren, Brandon and Kayla; mother, Margaret I. Young of Lancaster, Oh.; sisters, Catherine Louise McGraw of Lancaster, Oh., Roberta (James) Lewis of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Linda Young of Johnstown, Pa.; several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Preceded in death by her father Robert W. Young. Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 4, 2001 at 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Lancaster. WATTERS Lee J. Watters, age 76, of Baltimore, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2001 at Alterra Sterling Home, Lancaster. Lee was a Master Sergeant with the Office of Strategic Services parachuting into France in WWII and was presented the Silver Star, Purple Heart, 3 Oak Clusters, and recognized from the French Government for Gallantry in action. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post #2529, Sandusky, and was a Life member of the Baltimore Lions Club where he received the Melvin Jones Award in 1994 for outstanding service as a Lion. Lee worked 38 years for N.C.R. retiring in 1980 from a heart attack and reoccurring illnesses until his death. He was a member of the Mt. Zion United Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Virginia E. Watters; and was a wonderful father and stepfather to Jeffrey Lee (Lisa) Watters, Lewis Center, Carol (Phil) Ardrey, Rushville, Larry (Dawn) Eyman, Baltimore, and Roger Eyman, Dallas, Tex.; 6 grandchildren, Benjamin Lee Watters, Gregory Ardrey, Valerie Ardrey, Larry (Bobbie) Eyman Jr., William Eyman, and Charles Lee Eyman; 2 great-grandchildren, Victoria Eyman and Larry Eyman III; brothers, Rolland (Barbara) Watters, Loudenville, Thomas (Diane) Watters, Norwalk; sisters, Bonita Mauger, Baltimore, Nancy Gove, Wellington; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Clarence (Thelma) Mauger, Baltimore, Erma (Walter) Taylor, Sylvania; several nieces and nephews. WISE Dorothy M. Ford Wise, age 77, of Dublin, Oh., formerly of Morgantown, Ind., died Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at Kobacker House, Columbus, Oh. Born June 13, 1923 in Brown Co., Ind., daughter of the late Arnold S. and Zetta Hutchison Ford. She was employed as an Executive Secretary to the President of Pic & Pay Grocery chain in Cleveland, retiring in 1977. Prior to that she was Executive Secretary to the President of Pesco Products, a division of Borg Warner in Bedford Heights, Oh. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority and Northwest United Methodist Church in Upper Arlington, Oh. She was an artist and worked in Oil. She enjoyed the art of Calligraphy. She loved shopping. 1940 graduate of Helmsburg High School. Survived by husband, Carl R. "Dick" Wise of Dublin, Oh., whom she married August 10, 1947 in Morgantown Methodist Parsonage; brothers, Arlen Ford of Brown Co., Floyd Ford of Greenwood, Oral Ivan Ford of Citrus Heights, Calif., Arnold Ford, Jr. of New Palestine, Ind. and Denzil L. Ford of Brown Co.; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by sister Garnet Everling and brothers Maurice, Eugene and Russell Ford.
