Betty Ann Race, worked at airport 30 years
Betty Ann Race, 69, of Florence, retired supervisor of housekeeping at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, died Monday.
Mrs. Race was active in the Fraternal Order of Police and the Kentucky Peace Officers Association because her late husband, William Carl Race, was a Fort Mitchell police officer and an airport security guard. She also was a Kentucky Colonel.
Mrs. Race retired from the airport two years ago after working there more than 30 years.
"The airport officials didn't want her to leave because she had done such a good job there," said Mrs. Race's son, John Mitts of Crittenden. "She agreed to say on another year after she first retired. As the airport grew larger over the years, her responsibility got a lot bigger."
Other survivors include another son, Robert Mitts of Elsmere; daughters, Debbie Cain of Taylor Mill and Lisa Bay of Covington; sisters, Imogene Fisk of Crittenden, Jerry Turner of Erlanger and Pat Dark of San Antonio; brothers, Jack Ross of Latonia and Ken Ross of Marietta, Ga.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Crittenden. Visitation begins there at 10 a.m. Thursday.

James Clark, served his community
Former state Rep. James R. Clark, Jr., a former Hamilton County commissioner and retired attorney, died Wednesday. The long-time Hyde Park resident was 81.
Mr. Clark was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives in 1950, where he served two terms. In 1954, he was appointed to the Hamilton County Board of County Commissioners, serving eight years.
He also served as president of the Ohio Citizens Council for Health and Welfare, president of Little Miami Inc., and The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick. He was a member of the Ohio Commodores since 1975 and was a Disabled American Veteran.
Mr. Clark graduated from Notre Dame University, then served in the U.S. Army as a judge advocate in the Philippines during World War II. Following his
military service, he graduated from the University of Cincinnati's College of Law. He was a lawyer with Clark and Eyrich and was admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court.
His wife, Mary Jane Buse, preceded him in death. He is survived by two daughters, Cindy McCarthy and Candy Clark Baron, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be held today at 10:30 a.m. at St. Cecilia Church, 3105 Madison Road, Oakley.
