Mary Finley, librarian, active in Madisonville
Mary Gordon Finley, an outgoing and friendly librarian, died Saturday a few weeks after her 96th birthday.
Mrs. Finley worked for the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County for more than 40 years, beginning at a branch at Douglass Elementary School, where she met her husband of 68 years, Laurence.
"We were truly blessed," he said.
A member of several social clubs, Mrs. Finley, of Madisonville, was also a long- time member of the Optimist Club. She also served on the boards of directors for the Lincoln Court Day Care Center and the Madisonville Day Care. She also served on the YMCA service committee of the central branch.
One of several children, Mrs. Finley remained close to her many brothers and sisters, most of whom also lived in Madisonville, her husband said.
Mrs. Finley was a member of the Greater Liberty Baptist Church in Madisonville.
She is also survived by her daughter, Judith Felder of Madisonville; a brother, Richard E. Gordon of Madisonville; three grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and a niece. Businessman George Schulhoff dies
George E. Schulhoff of Cincinnati, who founded Schulhoff Rental Equipment in 1935, died Sunday. He was 86.
He devoted much of his time to the Apostles of the Holy Spirit, which he founded in 1948. Apostles of the Holy Spirit is a lay group organized to promote love for and devotion to the Holy Spirit.
"He had a good feel for somebody who maybe had left the church - any church, not just the Catholic church," said Ed Whalen, a close friend for more than 40 years. "He always wanted to help, had a good ear for listening and was very understanding."
Mr. Schulhoff was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis, and was a former board member and supporter of the Holy Spirit Center in Norwood. He also organized the retreat for the merchants of DeSales Corner held annually at the Milford Retreat Center.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth Schulhoff; a sister, Frances Kuehter of Fresno, Calif.; and a brother, Carl Schulhoff of Denver.
A mass be at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Rose Church, 2501 Eastern Ave. Visitation will begin there at 5 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Montgomery. Gilligan Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Jeffrey Meyers helped friends and neighbors
Jeffrey W. Meyers did nice things for people. When a co-worker's wedding dress was stolen from her car, he bought another gown for her. When a little girl wanted a toy that her mother couldn't afford, Mr. Meyers bought it.
"This is what gave him pleasure," said his wife, Marlene Hackman Meyers. "He was just genuinely a very kind man."
Mr. Meyers, 59, of Edgewood, Ky., died Monday at home. He was a partner with the Fisher Design Co., Cincinnati, and a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Fort Mitchell, Ky., and Change of Heart.
In 1986, Mr. Meyers was the 21st heart transplant recipient at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
"We feel so fortunate to have had the extra 14 years with him," Mrs. Meyers said. "He was able to see his grandchildren grow up and to see his daughter and son get married."
Mr. Meyers was interesed in Native Americans, their culture and beliefs. He often donated to the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota and was adopted by the Sioux Nation, who gave him the Indian name of "Two Hearts."

Thomas Faust, business, civic leader
Thomas R. Faust, co-owner for 32 years of Barth Vernon Furniture Store, the oldest remaining furniture store on the west side, died Monday at his home in Price Hill.
Mr. Faust, 75, was in the furniture and appliance business for more than 50 years. He also was active in the community and served as a past president of the Price Hill Lions Club and a member of the Elders Dads Club.
"He was very inventive, always working with his hands, creating new things," said his wife, Patricia Jones Faust. "He was a loving father and husband. And he was active in U.S. Navy reunions; the Navy meant a lot to him."
Mr. Faust attended Xavier University before enlisting in the Navy and was a decorated veteran of World War II. He was a respected craftsman and an avid fisherman and hunter.
In addition to his wife, he leaves three sons, Russell, Timothy and James Faust; two daughters, Ann Tiettmeyer and Amy Tanner; a sister, Peggy Jung and 10 grandchildren.
