Leo Joseph Breslin, attorney, Xavier fan
Leo Joseph Breslin, attorney and for many years president of the Lindhorst and Dreidame law firm, died Sunday of cancer. He was 71.
A graduate of St. Xavier High School, Xavier University and the University of Cincinnati College of Law, Breslin began his legal career in the judge advocate general's office at Fort Knox, Ky., rising to the rank of major. In 1956 he joined Lindhorst and Dreidame and later served as its president. He worked to within weeks of his death.
"Leo Breslin was an advocate in the best and purest sense," said Jim O'Connell, senior attorney at the law firm. "No cause was too great or too small, too difficult or too unpopular, for him to undertake."
Loyal to his Irish heritage, Breslin enlivened countless gatherings of family and friends over the years. He was a life-long sports enthusiast, especially of the XU men's baseball Musketeers. For many years he coached Knothole baseball teams at All Saints Church, where he was an active parishioner.
"His family will always remember his genuine love and care for us, his selfless sharing of his wisdom and his moral and material support," said a son, Kevin Breslin.
Breslin leaves his wife, Marian; sons: Kevin, Dan, and Pat Breslin; daughters: Meg Muething, Beth Stachura, Cadi Bien and Chrissy Schroeder; brothers, James Breslin, of Fairfax, Va., and the Rev. Monsignor Lawrence K. Breslin, of Kettering, and 12 grandchildren.
Mass is at All Saints Church, Kenwood, at 11 a.m. today. Visitation was Wednesday at the Gilligan Funeral Home, Kenwood. Memorials may be sent to the Breslin Foundation, 312 Walnut St., Suite 2300, Cincinnati 45202.
