Robert Roseberry, restored historic buildings in Covington
Robert J. Roseberry, 64, of Florence, Ky., died Monday.
He owned Roseberry Historical Restoration Co., which restored Covington First Christian Church, the Covington Railroad Station Building, and Economy Meat Market, Dee Felice Cafe, Mertack's Building and Fairhaven Rescue Mission, all in Covington.
Mr. Roseberry also volunteered his professional services to St. Barbara Church in Bellevue, Ky., after the church was vandalized.
He was a former owner of the Roseberry Tailor Shop in North Vernon, Ind., and an Army veteran of the
Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Carole Lee Roseberry; daughters, Tina Marie Scott of Elsmere, Ky., and Tracy Kay Schultz of Independence, Ky.; a stepson, Tony Powell of Florence; a sister, Marilyn Davis of North Vernon, Ind.; four grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill, Ky. Visitation will be from 4 to 6:45 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Ernest H. 'Pete' Taylor, law officer
Ernest H. "Pete" Taylor, a decorated Cincinnati police officer who served for 22 years, died Wednesday from complications of pneumonia and Alzheimer's disease. He was 89.
A Cincinnati native, Mr. Taylor joined the police division in 1935 and was promoted to detective in the vice squad the next year. He left the division to serve as a military policeman in the U.S. Navy for four years during World War II.
After his military service, he returned to the police division and was appointed a detective in 1954. He retired as a lieutenant of detectives.
He then became a special investigator for the Hamilton County prosecutor's office and served as chief adult probation officer until his final retirement in 1977.
During his police career, he maintained an efficiency rating of 98 percent and won many letters of commendation, including from FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover.
Mr. Taylor's best friend, former county prosecutor and state appeals court Judge Raymond Shannon called him "one of the finest police officers I've ever known and certainly, without question, the best interrogator with whom I've ever worked."
Mr. Taylor was a graduate of Hughes High School, Salmon P. Chase evening college and the FBI Academy.
He was very active in county politics, serving as a vice president of the Hamilton County Republican Club.
During a visit to Burbank, Calif., he landed a bit part in the movie, "Fireman, Save My Child" and had one one-word line, "Peanuts!"
At the age of 60 he converted to Catholicism, making good on a long-standing promise to his wife. He belonged to St. Teresa and St. Lawrence Catholic churches for 25 years.
Mr. Taylor leaves his wife, Blanche E. "Dolly" Schmiade Taylor; a daughter, Patricia Gault; two sons, municipal court Judge Robert Taylor and board of elections Director Bruce Taylor, and eight grandchildren.
Visitation 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday at the B.J. Meyer & Sons Funeral Home, 4841 Glenway Ave., Covedale. Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. Memorials to any Alzheimer's research organization.

Robert Hardin, psychologist for prisoners
Robert E. "Bob" Hardin, a native of Vevay, Ind., who worked for 33 years at th e Indiana Reformatory and Reception and Diagnostic Center, died Wednesday in at his home in Indianapolis. He was 71.
Mr. Hardin retired in 1988 as chief psychologist at the penal institution. During his career, he also served as assistant superintendent at the Indiana Yough Center, as deputy commissioner of the Indiana Department of Corrections and as acting commissioner of the corrections department.
After his retirement he was appointed to the State Board of Correction where he was serving at the time of his death.
Mr. Hardin was a graduate of Patriot High School and of Hanover College. He also earned a master's degree in psychology from Butler University. He was a 50-year member of the Florence, Ind., Masonic Lodge No. 127, F&AM, Murat Temple Shrine and the Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis.
During the
Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army. He has lived for 40 years in Indianapolis but was raised near Florence, Ind.
Visitation 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Masonic services by Florence Masonic Lodge No. 127 at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
